During my first visit I went in for a septum jewelry change and brought my own jewelry. The piercer dropped my septum spike on the floor and was unable to find it despite another staff member helping. I even got on my hands and knees looking for it but it was never recovered. While I was given a replacement piece of jewelry, I was still charged for the service even though the employee lost the item I brought. That was extremely frustrating since I left without the jewelry I had intended to wear. My second visit was more recent. I needed a longer eyebrow bar because my existing one was too short and causing irritation. Before coming in I called the shop to confirm this was something they could help with, but the person on the phone sounded uninterested and rushed. The staff member behind the jewelry counter made me feel judged about my piercing issue and I left feeling uncomfortable rather than helped. I understand that irritation can happen with piercings but her demeanor made me feel almost stupid for having a bar that was too short to begin with. At one point while explaining the situation, I briefly touched the piercing and was immediately given hand sanitizer and told "don't touch your piercing again." The delivery didn't feel friendly or educational it came across as scolding. What stood out most was that this interaction happened while she was working with an apprentice or trainee! Which made the experience feel even more awkward. Customer service is important in environments like these and the overall tone of the interaction felt unwelcoming. I was also surprised by the price- over $50 for a single titanium eyebrow bar. While I understand titanium is premium jewelry the overall customer service did not match the cost. Two negative experiences years apart make this feel less like a one-time issue and more like a pattern. I personally wouldn't return.

At other salons I've visited, the experience typically ends with small finishing touches--like applying lotion or a brief hand massage--but this service felt very basic. I still tipped Tia 20% because Honey worked me into the schedule during what would have been Tia's break, and I appreciated that accommodation. Unfortunately, once I got home and removed my contacts so I could see my nails more clearly, I noticed several details that became more apparent over the next few days. It appeared the polish wasn't properly sealed, and one nail had missing polish along the side before I ever left the salon. Since my nails were completely dry when I departed, I believe those issues should have been caught before the service was finished. For me, the overall experience wasn't worth the drive or the price I paid. The video of my nails tells the story better than this caption ever could. That said, based on my interaction with Honey, I genuinely believe booking with her could result in a different experience. She made a great first impression, and if I were to return, I would specifically request an appointment with her.

Anju is an amazing artist! I started getting Mehndi from her in October 2012. I always walk away with beautiful, neat, paisley, or traditional henna designs! Anju is a very kind lady, always makes me feel comfortable! You walk in her front door and the amazing smell of oils/henna hit you in a very calming way. I actually just made another appt for later this week! I can't wait! Mehndi/Henna is great. It smells delicious and its a semi permanent tattoo for those of you who don't really care to get anything permanent. Oh! and... if you are planning on getting a permanent tattoo, Anju will henna on the design you're thinking of getting so that you can wear it around to see if you actually want to get it tattooed forever. Just got my belly blessing done with Mehndi Time could not be happier with the result! I had a very specific request - as this is the Year of the Dragon, I wanted a dragon for my belly blessing. After looking at Anju's website I realized she was the perfect choice. And sure enough when I went to the appointment she had a dragon picked out that was exactly what I had in mind. It was fun to watch the process, especially as Anju was filling in the details of the dragon. It's very clear that she has great artistic skills & is real henna expert. Also, Anju makes her own henna, so I knew the color was going to be excellent. She took great care in drying and covering the finished product. Anju is an amazing artist. She is generous with her spirit, and this comes through in her designs. Her vast experience is evident in the fluidity of her designs, and the way she applies the henna paste, you can tell that henna is practically in her blood. Anju decorates her canvas (hands, back, belly, etc) with a keen eye for aesthetics, and the results are spectacular. In short, she knows her stuff, and her mehndi designs, which she will discuss with and tailor to you, will make you feel so beautiful! I loved my bridal mehndi! Anju was great at incorporating my peacock theme into the design and she did my arms and feet incredibly fast! She also uses very clean, organic henna and after a little research, i realized how important that is to avoid discoloration, infections, etc. We also asked her to decorate a dozen or so women during the sangeet and she did that with creativity and efficiency. We had a lot of non-Indians and all the girls loved their designs. I have to say, my henna turned a deep dark red that lasted quite a while - I received plenty of compliments during the ceremony as well as later on my honeymoon. As a special treat for me and my guests, I hired Anju to do henna tattoos for my birthday party. She came to my home, arrived on time, set up (taking up minimal space) and stayed incredibly busy for 2.5 hours! She did stunningly beautiful work, was fast (we asked her not to do very intricate designs so that everyone who was interested could partake), and was an absolute pleasure. I had spread the word that she'd be at the party, and I've never had so many guests show up on time to "get in line" for a henna tattoo! The Mehndi that Anju is capable of doing will take your breath away. Anju gave me the most awesome wedding henna that I have seen. The henna stayed on for weeks to come and even at week two, I was still receiving compliments on the art that I was wearing. She makes all her own paste and after care product. The after care balm smells beautiful. Not only was the service great but her company is not short of that. Getting Mehndi done can be a time consuming task, spending the time with Anju was a pleasure. Anju is great! I went to her for a belly blessing when I was 36 weeks along. This was my first henna and I absolutely loved it. Anju was so warm and welcoming, and she is amazingly talented! She incoperated a personal touch and kept me totally in on the design process as she went (and kept suck a steady hand even though my little one was moving around). She was so nice and worked with me when I had schedualing problems. All around an awesome experience! Simply Amazing!! Within minutes I had the most intricate and stunning henna I have ever seen in person or in photos. Watching her is more like a performance and is a wonder to behold. I have had henna several times now and I found it a very fun way to dress up my Halloween costume. I am always sad to see them fade although I had one last three weeks. This is why I was so excited to see the work she does on drums and tambourines. To date I have purchased three of them, two of those as presents. Anju is truly a natural artist. She is very knowledgeable and creative. My sister and I went in for our first henna and she was very attentive and she made sure she understood our ideas and vision. After I saw my sister's henna I told her to do whatever she wanted and surely I was very happy with her design. She taps into traditional designs and then combines to make her own. Her own henna formula makes for a herbal, organic, and enhanced color on the skin. If you ever want to get Henna in Austin, Anju should be your first choice. I was very happy with the visit. I found Mehndi Time through Yelp and saw the great reviews and deicded to give it a try. I wanted to get done something nice to get a hena experience for the first time. I had several ideas in mind along with the photos that i wanted to use for the reference. But after browsing through her website i decided to give her the full freedom (which most of the people don't do with the artists and stay rigid about what they want). Lets just say i was blown away by her artistic insight and talent. I will say she is pricey but worth every penny. I know i will be going back soon for my henna fix. read more

She leaves and comes back with an idea which I love, did the placement and we start. All is well, no talk about payment yet (I should've brought it up at this point but it was my first big piece and I wasn't sure how to go about it or wanted her to feel disrespected about my budget) An hour or so in I'm suffering (my fault for not preparing) and she notices and gives me brakes but somewhere in between is when she finally asks about money. She asks "what's your budget?" As if it matters now that the stencil and ink is on me now. I tell her naively "6-700" at this point I don't think much of it she just nods her head. Towards the end of the session I needed a minute, we're not even done. I'm walking up to the register and I ask "So how much will it be with how far we got in this session" she looked at me the then the receptionist and just goes "700" I look at her kind of shocked but I'm tired so I don't say anything. As time went by and I got more in the scene and inked more I realized she calculated when to ask me and what to ask me. I was wearing shorts and a t shirt so she knew I wasn't inked up and it was my first time. I felt taken advantage of for being new in the community and not having much knowledge. I have multiple tattoos now and four years later this is the worst experience I've ever had. I finally have the courage to speak up about it.
