Let me start with this! My father had terrible case of kidney stones and was in desperate need of a really good Urologist. He's part of Providence so I needed a good referral and I was referred to Dr. Movassaghi thk God! My dad isn't the best at taking care of himself and was way overdue for a prostate exam. I like that Dr. Movassaghi is not only a Urologist but also an oncologist. First thing I noticed was how beautiful the office was. It's beautifully designed. Many doctors offices have no vibe and are old and out of date, but not this place it was really fresh right out AD MAG! And it's kind of nice because it helps you forget that you're at the doctor. The staff is really on top of everything and super helpful and focused. They're really top-tier. My favorite part is this beautiful wall in the back where you can take selfie's with the neon sign. The staff is so helpful and everyone works well together. My dad didn't have to wait but two minutes after checking in, he got in a room right away. The doctor really did a good job of addressing all my Dad's concerns w alleviating his kidney stones n other issues. Dr Movassaghi has a lot of new and innovative treatments very progressive physician. And most importantly my dad is now happy, healthy, happy and free of his kidney stones, Thankst Dr. Movassaghi and staff

No, this isn't an emergency room. This is how over stacked Dr. Movassaghi's office is on a Friday. Faces of patients blurred for privacy.

Thanked me for taking the time out of my busy schedule, to get there, and early. If he's running a little late, he has always apologized so far, although one cannot undo tardiness. But at least he's not late like a lot of these gynecology offices are, and with no apologies nor real attempts to improve, to use as one example. Some of the few things I would say to work on are perhaps to not try to sway a patient to use the portal. If this is in UCLA's staff training, they need to stop doing this. There are many patients like me who prefer for various reasons not to use the portal. And we should never be made to feel that we won't get as good of a response from the doctor and office if we choose not to use it, being direct or indirect about it. We also should not be told falsehoods/insinuations like, how 'everyone else is using the portal" 'it's easier to use than calling in, and that it is implied that "I'm the only one that doesn't use the portal" or maybe even 'most people use the portal- so should you'- kind of a disposition- no matter how true some of those might be, even if)'. This is not so much a singling out of this doctor, but this is to say that a lot of UCLA DOCTORS AND admin staff do indeed do and and imply these things and it is not right. There was also no toilet paper in the restroom when I was being asked to empty my bladder. So I had to wipe my hands on my pants, I've noticed that in many offices offices, the soap is all out in the bathrooms too. This may seem small and/or people would want to minimize such valid concerns, but this all adds up when employees are being evaluated for delivering the patient- centered care that we pay them for. Front desk is 'okay', perhaps like most UCLA staffs, but I'm a pretty cheerful patient, despite the severity of my physical illnesses, so was able to smooth over some of the front desk's abruptness when she was talking loudly to me across the room to put a Mask on. I therefore had to slowly turn around to see Her, and then kindly had to tell tell her to just give me a few seconds as I was trying to set my purse, backpack and bag all down while I was waiting to be taken back to see the MD. In summation, I like the doctor so I'm going to try to stay with him permanently, but hopefully the office will improve with these things permanently.

A+ office and Dr. Dr Yao is very knowledgeable and he and his staff provided quality care.read more

Finally, after years of fragmented sleep and with a 100 g sized Prostate, I chose to have the HoLEP procedure since it promised the most effectiveness and "durability" for a larger Prostate like mine. Not many urologists perform the HoLEP, but I researched and found Dr. Elkhoury at Santa Monica UCLA with excellent reviews. I practically begged Dr. Elkhoury to release me from my misery of severe BPH. I used chatgpt to do research and answer many of my questions. Every thing has to be in "order" before surgery, such as an MRI of the Prostate, possibly an ultrasound, lab work, and a physical by your internist. Having a cystoscopy procedure before the surgery and having a Foley (urethral) catheter after the surgery was not pleasant. The good news is that the cystoscopy is quick and the catheter is removed the day after surgery. The surgery and post-op recovery went MUCH BETTER than I had expected. I did have a burning sensation when urinating, but with the use of Pyridium and Tylenol the pain was VERY manageable. I had very little bleeding and urgency and my recovery has been much faster than I had expected. I attribute this to the excellent skill of Dr. Elkhoury, my particular condition & the fact that I did try to eat healthier and do some exercise before having the surgery. Writing this 1 month after the surgery, I am now able to urinate with a strong stream and I am now getting-up 3 times per night (& hoping it may become less). I have not experienced any incontinence. I am waiting another week before having any sexual activity, so I can not yet comment on that. Thank You, Dr. Elkhoury.

Finding Dr. Houman was an absolute game-changer for us. From our first consultation, he made my husband feel completely comfortable and respected. Dr. Houman quickly pinpointed a varicocele as the root cause of our fertility struggles and laid out a clear, step-by-step path forward. He never rushed us, answered all my (many) questions, and made sure we both felt confident in the treatment plan. Fast forward to a few months after treatment, my husband's fertility numbers improved dramatically, and we finally got our positive pregnancy test! I am so grateful for Dr. Houman's expertise. If you and your partner are navigating fertility issues or varicocele concerns, you are in the best hands here.

Other doctors brushed it off, but Dr. Houman took the time to truly listen and explain how varicoceles can cause pain and impact sperm quality and hormones. His depth of expertise in microsurgical varicocele repair and testicular pain treatment is obvious. He was thorough, honest, and never pushed unnecessary treatment. The care felt very precise and highly specialized. Since treatment, my testicular pain has significantly improved and my fertility testing showed significant improvement! Just as important, I finally felt confident and supported throughout the process. If you're dealing with varicoceles, chronic testicular pain, or infertility and want a urologist who genuinely specializes in men's health, I highly recommend Dr. Houman.

She has needed to do other procedures and she is excellent at tracking potential issues ... uses all the imaging at her disposal to see what's going on and address them before they cause problems. But what makes her incredible, in my book, is that she never seems to run out of energy. And her knowledge is magnificently vast. She also has never for a single second underestimated my own knowledge, and she talks with me (not at me). I have never had a better doctor-patient relationship in my life ... and I am 68 years old as I write this. I don't know what the few negative reviewers are experiencing, but it's certainly not the norm. Not only do I get along great with her, I get along great with her staff and the hospital staff. (I've been there so many times, the garden level receptionist greets me by name when he sees me coming down the corridor from the elevators!) I can only guess that the negatives have come from momentary anger when something is not going right and stresses the patient out. I've never had anything close to those kind of reactions. This will sound weird, but sometimes I almost wish for more stones just to have her kind and thorough attention to my condition. (Almost. Not really.) Yelp needs six or more stars for rating her.
