I don't leave bad reviews for anyone, I respect business, but I feel it's very important that all parents should be warned about this dentist's "policies" since l wasn't aware of them until they gave me and my son a very hard time. My son needed a filling, that's all I was told in his checkup, along with a quote for how much I'd have to pay after insurance. Fine, my husband takes a day off of work so that I can bring my son in for his filling. When I get to the office, I am charged before the appointment starts and then told that I cannot go in with my three year old son and be present during his appointment. This was the first time I was hearing it, and of course in the world that we live in, had no intent of just "trusting" these strangers with my son alone. So I tell them, no, unless I am able to go in, I am not letting them take him in alone. So, the assistant calls the dentist to come talk to me. Dentist Wilma McPherson comes out to tell me that it's her policy that minors must come in alone without their parents present for the appointment. I tell her that's not ok and she proceeds to tell her assistant to have me sign a form so that they can send my records to another dentist. My son was heart broken. He's three and loves going to the dentist and he himself was asking me why the dentist wouldn't let me come in. I honestly don't understand such a policy when you're dealing with minors. What do you do that a parent can't be present to witness? And if it's about Covid, it makes less sense since I was allowed to be present during my kids cleanings. You are ok with working face to face inside my kid's mouth but it's not ok for me to sit farther away with my mask on? Extremely disappointing. I told my friend that had been taking her child to this practice for years about this and she started taking her child to another practice now. This is so unprofessional and will only make you lose patients. All of your patients are minors, why insist on having them without the parent? My parents went to all of my dentist appointments as a child, I don't understand this "policy". I immediately called another dentist office to have my child get his filling and they had no unprofessional policies, I was able to sit and witness my kid's appointment no problem and had a great experience. Obviously never going back to JCPD and warning all of my friends about it.

I even made another appointment for the next day somewhere else incase I didn't feel okay. Let me tell you, Dr. Singal let me talk about all of my fears and anxiety, I cried and she held my hand. There was no judgement here, we just have to work towards a solution. By the end of the appointment we had done half of a deep clean & I was coming back the next day to finish. I cancelled my other appointment and kept going with Dr. Singal. It's been 4 months and we have tackled, a deep cleaning, 6 fillings, 3 root canals (from a specialist referral, they were also fantastic. No pain!) Now 3 fillings & 3 crowns. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!…read more Customer communication is a ROARing disaster! Utterly unprofessional and completely rude. It's like they're doing us a favor by sitting there. Talking to them is like talking to a brick wall. A big zero! I called the day of the appointment to cancel. Right off the bat, I owned up to being late in canceling and said it's totally my fault to cancel at this hour. The rep told me there is a $50 same-day cancellation/rescheduling fee. Fine and totally understandable. Except..... I was never made aware of this earlier. Neither when I booked the appointment, nor when I confirmed it a week ago. Stuff happens and you do have to reschedule at times. It is not a matter of 50 bucks but rather, of principle. You cannot spring 'policy' on people at the last minute and be nonchalant about it. That's what ticked me off. When I informed the rep of this last minute 'policy' drop, she went into complete bizarre territory. She said that the office sends out emails with cancellation charges but they could not send it out to me because they did not have my email on file. Whose fault is that!? Should they not ask for a patient's email when they know that it's an important part of their communication process!? She then proceeded to say the dumbest stuff ever. She told me, when you come into the office, all the paperwork has the cancellation charges written on them so that patients do not miss it. Just think about it for a second..... if I'm NOT coming to your office, how in the world am I going to read the paperwork!? And even if I may have signed it a year ago, it was still A YEAR AGO! Should you not remind us of it or is it expected for patients to remember it like as if it's one of the Ten Commandments!? I told her what she was telling me was laughable and did not make any sense. She was not owning up to ANY lapse in communication on their part and blaming everything entirely on me. To which she said that I was speaking to her for the first time. Well that may absolutely be true because I definitely do not suffer fools. From then on, our communication kept going in circles. I asked to speak with the doctor directly but apparently she was busy with a patient. ROAR might as well replace the front desk staff with a tape. At least it would be more informative. So while it may be ROAR's policy to charge patients $50 for same day cancellations, guess what ROAR dental; it is MY policy to be informed of this at least 24 hours in advance.

After a recent experience at Dear Tooth Fairy, I would give this business zero stars if I could…read more Our family of four were patients for over 7 years and tolerated the unkind staff and booking difficulties over the years, but our last visit was the most disturbing experience I have ever had with a doctor or office and I would advise against anyone using their dental or orthodontics services, especially for children. My 7 year old child had an orthodontist visit with the orthodontist, Dr. Song, (who is completely ill-equipped to deal with children), to be fitted for his Invisalign. He did not have the correct size mouthpiece for my 7 year old child; they did not have the room set up for a child, but rather an adult, and instead of explaining what he would be doing before starting the procedure, he waited until after my son was inconsolable. The fitting was not completed during this visit. When I voiced my concern with the way the appointment was handled, along with disappointment at the inability for the staff to reschedule in a timely manner (our next appointment was scheduled for 6 weeks later, after already waiting weeks on the Invisalign molds) he was unable to provide answers and suggested that finding a new orthodontist was the best option. Keep in mind, Dear Tooth Fairy claims to work well with children with anxiety and take a "gentle" approach. Absolutely nothing about his approach was gentle; the television set was even set to a home building show for an adult, not a child. Dr. Song didn't know where any equipment was and didn't know how to change the channel. They spent 15 minutes trying to get the channel changed, after 10 minutes of trying to find the correct size mouth piece but then told me they didn't have time to complete the appointment. When we reached out to speak to Dr. Kim who has known my family, as mentioned, for 7 years, she refused to speak to us over the phone, and STILL has yet to. She unequivocally supported her other practitioner and offered a refund for all services with Dr. Song. Receiving that refund took weeks, even though it was a DIRECT payment to Dear Tooth Fairy; we are still awaiting the refund on our insurance portion. Bottom line, Dr. Kim has no backbone to speak with parents and no concern for human decency or respect, let alone speciality care for children. This is only magnified by the people she hires to work at the facility. Rosemary, who is expected to work the front desk, assist with x-rays, and procedures in the dental rooms is the most unkind person I have ever met in my life. She is rude over the phone and in person, and is not kind to children. Just one recent example, we arrived for an appointment at the end of October '25 that was scheduled for 2:00pm. We arrived at 1:50pm, as requested in all paperwork you receive prior to your appointment to arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. At arrival, Rosemary was eating lunch at the desk, she did not say hello, but said "you need to come back at 2:00pm, I'm still on my lunch." I asked if we could wait inside since it was a particularly cold day and she said "no, come back at 2:00pm." Dr. Song arrived at 2:10pm back from his lunch break for our 2:00 p.m. scheduled appointment - ten minutes late. The lack of professionalism, care for patients - who are children, and overall nature of both the facility and the people that work there should be enough to close this place down for good. Please take this horrendous experience as a warning and find yourself a dentist anywhere else. Also note that Dr. Min Jin Kim and Dr. Richard Song offer their services at other facilities as well, so be sure to check that they are not your dentist at another location.

She's at the top of her field, but reasonable questions asked in a reasonable manner can set her off. The best doctors are also best at communicating; welcome basic inquiries. Amazingly, by contrast, Gelman projects her own emotionality onto the parent(s) (e.g., "You have to manage your anxiety!!", when everyone is entirely calm, except her), and can't control herself from snapping -- and once actually physically jerked herself while examining our child. Dentist Dr. Leah Fine is a rude, eye-rolling, paranoid @$%, unfortunately. We're relieved Dr. Fine is now gone from this practice and NYC. Astonished by Fine's behavior ~ no joke: glaring repeatedly at her nice tech helpers, as if to pull them into tacitly disparaging the child's parent. Does Fine really think parents cannot see her eye-rolls & scowls, when standing in the same exam room with her? Leah FIne has a middle-school level demeanor. Utterly juvenile. Zero respect & scant bedside manner. One of us asked Fine a legit question. She stopped treating our child, and said, "Are you secretly recording this conversation?" ...What!? Fine never apologized. We literally showed her our phones. Support staff in the room were mortified with her abuse of power, and it was clear they felt embarrassed and apologetic towards us. They tried to smooth over Leah Fine's abuse by lavishing an extra amount of toys on our child, and many times inquiring when we'd like to schedule next -- understandably almost as if to reassure themselves, too. ...BOTTOM LINE: Skilled dentists, esp. Gelman, who know they're skilled, so they don't self-regulate or communicate respectfully. Particularly when there's any dental uncertainty (e.g., when treating special cases, kids with injuries, or things necessitating parental inquiry, etc.).
