Disaster , Apa Aesthetics did a very bad jump on my veneers . They destroyed my bite . I have developed TMJ from this , sleep apnea ( teeth can't find a resting place so my jaw can't close/rest when sleeping ) and my smile is so weird . I have an underbite . They admitted they needed changing then ghosted me when I called to schedule . Refusing to schedule me , saying they would call back and ultimately they have blocked me and will not reply to emails . Dr. Apa is a phenomenal and highly skilled dentist. I have a cross-bite. I have had traditional braces as a child. My teeth shifted back over the years. And most recently I've had Invisalign 2x. The Invisalign worsened my bite by narrowing it and dropping my top lip down and lopsided. A family dentist also "buffed" my two front teeth down and crooked because I had a minor chip, and it made my cross-bite even more apparent. This has bothered me for years. Let me start by saying I am obsessed with my new smile. Dr. Clem and the ceramicists at APA are artists. As a physician myself (who hates going to "the dentist"), I was pretty weary of the price point. I am not exaggerating, the product and experience were worth every penny. I am SO ecstatic with my teeth that I am writing my first Yelp review I had small yellow teeth from a lifetime of grinding. I had a gap in the front. My gums were overgrown and asymmetric. I was so self conscious, I literally hadn't shown my teeth while smiling in about a decade. It looks and feels like Dr. Clement turned the bottom of my face back 10 years. I really can't believe how natural they feel. I had always thought of Veneers as overly bright "chicklets". But I learned that one major thing that sets Apa apart is the ceramicists. Dr. Mavro, Jackie, and the entire NY team have been a blessing. I chipped my 2 front teeth a few months ago. Not knowing anything about veneers, my local dentist in Miami told me I must do 6 instead of 2 or 4 (bad advice). I walked out of her office with teeth that resembled those of my daughters horse. She swore she was using the best lab in the country that specializes in natural and translucency. She ordered my veneers from a huge lab that I would compare to McDonald's quality. I couldn't eat, talk, or chew food properly. Sleepless anxious nights searching the internet led me to Apa. I messaged the office at 2am and by 8am, I was on the phone with Jackie, who connected me with Dr. Mavro. After speaking with him, my tears subsided, and I knew I was in the right hands to get my original smile back. Dr. Mavro contacted my ortho, got the original scans of my teeth, and literally recreated them, even better. The entire experience at Apa has been wonderful. Dr. Mavro always made me feel that we were in this mess together and that no matter what, he was going to make me smile confidently again. As someone who has had a nightmare veneer case in Miami, please do your homework before going to just any dentist. I met with 26 dentists from Dubai to Los Angeles to Cairo. You name it; I thoroughly did my research. I was not going to make the same mistake twice. Every dentist promises you the world and that they are the best in cosmetics. There are less than a handful of cosmetic dentists that can do this level of quality work. It wasn't easy traveling to Dr. Mavro for my redo but, well worth it. If there's one thing I learned from my experience, you definitely get what you pay for. The trauma to redo veneers if a mediocre dentist messes up is not a fun experience. I would rather have stayed with cracked teeth than fake looking veneers that don't fit my mouth. Know about the layering technique, Feldspathic vs. Emax, how your temporarys are created, computer lab done, or custom? Do it right the first time, finance it if need be, but make sure you chose a dentist that has a lab in house, Apa's lab techs are literally sitting there in a beautiful glass room hand making your teeth right in front of you. The dentist has more control over the outcome, and it's handmade work, not some laser cut ceramic out of a block. Both Jackie and Dr. Mavro were always available on their cell phones. I had some moments of panic attacks before making my decision; they both responded to me whether it be Christmas or New Years. Please, for the quality of your life's sake. Read this before considering going here. I had my veneers done December 2019, and I haven't been pain free ever since. I don't even remember what it feels like to not be in chronic nerve pain anymore. I have a cross bite, and during my consultation I was told that it is fine for me to get veneers done. Shortly after I found out from various dentists that people who have cross bites are poor candidates for veneers. Unfortunately without this knowledge, I had my veneers done mid December, during the procedure I was experiencing a lot of pain on my left side. The veneers we're done very harshly and quickly, in 3 hours, and they rushed me out. During the procedure I was complaining of pain on the left side, they ignored me and told me to "continue watching the movie". Few days later I was still experiencing pain on my left side as well as my bite was off. Dr Apa rushes his procedures, he didn't see me to fix my bite - rather he had someone else come see me. The aftercare was horrible. During the procedure Dr Apa will come in and out of the room and only do certain parts of the Veneer process. The rest is done by his nurse. A month later I went back home and still was experiencing pain, my bite was still of. I had my bite realigned back home, with pain that started to increase. Long story short, the aggressiveness of the procedure damaged my nerves on the left side of my face, and now my nerves constantly misfire throughout the day. I am diagnosed as having type 2 trigeminal neuralgia aka idiopathic facial pain - which is described as non curable and only manageable. For 2 years, I have travelled all around the world to try to find a solution to what has been done. My only options are medications and killing the nerve, which cause another set of issues. I had to get a front tooth extracted, I was on anti depressants, I gained weight and lost a fair amount of hair. I had to go on very strong pain killers. Mind you, I am not someone nor was I ever someone that liked using such pills, I always preferred a natural route and lived a very clean lifestyle. My life has changed since then, due to the aggressiveness of the procedure and the poor patient care, not to mention that I left my bite misaligned for a month. I had to forgo a lot of my future hopes of masters as I struggle to remain pain free. I've passed out multiple times from the pain. I've consulted with various dentists, and a few of them have mentioned to me that they see a fair amount of Dr Apas clients who's veneers have gone wrong. I wouldn't wish what happened to me to anyone else, please. Nothing is worth this, I promise you. I paid $72,000 to loose my quality of life. Stay pain free and happy, for free. To Dr Apa and team, for the suffering this has put me through as well as to others. My husband and I traveled from out of town to go to this office for veneers! We did a lot of research beforehand as we wanted to make sure our veneers were a more aesthetically pleasing version of our current teeth. We didn't want cookie cutter teeth - we wanted teeth that fit our face, had vitality, and that were "perfectly imperfect" if that makes sense. We ended up choosing this office based on hundreds of examples of gorgeous after pictures of teeth that fit what we were looking for. We were impressed every step of the way. From the ease of booking out of town arrangements (they got my husband and I appointments for the same time, helped with hotels, etc!), to the kindness of every staff member we encountered. We both have had some bad dental experiences before so we were not looking forward to these appointments but they were as enjoyable as you can make going to the dentist . Everyone was kind, patient, friendly and explained what they were doing and what they were going to do next. The dentists were gentle and listened to any concerns we had as did the dental assistants! We are a few days out and they feel great - no pain, no issues! I had 20 teeth done and my husband had 23 (with a bit of everything.. a bridge, implants, crowns, and veneers ). I am not a review writer per se it really takes a bad experience for me to hop on here. Basically, over the phone i was quoted a rough price between 35K-50K and basically had to agree to it prior to making appointment, which I did as that seemed reasonable for the work i desired. I did the $500.00 consultation x-rays etc and basically a two hour overall experience only to find i was quoted at $75,000 for the full top arch only. However, i did not want to do Dr. Apa's recommendations, which was to replace two bridges at the back of my mouth that are unseen and in good shape. I advised the office of this and requested a new quote; However, Dr. Apa would not allow modifications to his "recommendations" and refused to edit plan to do basically a $50,000 top arch without bridges. Thus, his recommendations are more requirements. At this point he doesn't seem to want to do a smile for under $75,000.00 unless you are an IG influencer that will drive business his way. I never write reviews, but feel compelled beyond to describe the unethical behavior I experienced with Dr. Michael Apa. 1st consult 2/20 treatment plan, I was quoted a $4,000 per tooth price for a crown (total $73,000). The pandemic prevented moving forward. 2nd consult 6/21 treatment plan was revised. Kim, my patient coordinator, informed me that the cost of each tooth "just increased across the board to $5,000" (total $91,000). I was shocked and disappointed that Dr. Apa would not honor the first treatment plan price. Something felt off. I rang a friend who noted that she received a $4,000 quote just two days after my consult. I felt deceived. Kim attempted to reason that prices per tooth varied on a "case by case basis." This is not the "across the board" explanation I heard at the end of my second consult. Nor could Kim answer when pressed as to what changed in my treatment plan from the 2/20 to the 6/21 consults. No additional work was added to the new plan to account for the extra $20,000 charge. Such dishonesty from a well reputed cosmetic dentist is a disgrace. To boot, I endured a 1 1/2 hour wait to see Dr. Apa for a 15 minute rushed meeting with no oral examination, no design discussion, and no feedback about my case. read more

Dr Nicolas was so personable and sweet. He was extremely thorough and took his time with the process of veneers. He made sure I knew that I don't have to be worried about them shaving down my teeth. The prep was so minimal that they barely shaved them down at all. I had temps on to test out the shape and I actually didn't mind going in public without the temps and the freshly prepped teeth because he did such a great job, it was hard to even notice that something was different. He restored my two front teeth to their original unchipped state without the white marks they had. They were done so naturally beautiful it is truly hard to tell a difference and to even tell that they are not real. Everyone was so nice at the office and he even gave me a tour. Apa is a beautiful space, they offer you water, coffee, wine, blankets, laughing gas, you can even listen to music or watch Netflix during your appointments. I wish I would have read the reviews before undertaking treatment with Apa for veneers. The process that they have "perfected" is spend the least amount of time with the patient, pretend that many hours are spent with the ceramicist perfecting teeth just for you, charge the most possible so you are tricked into thinking they are ethically and aesthetically superior, post pictures of amazing teeth as mine were using lighting and photography that doesn't resemble the actual result. There are so many super competent and caring cosmetic dentists in NYC. Do not be fooled by the hype. After 2 consults with other dentists, I have to re-do 6 out if the 10 veneers placed. read more

Have to agree with other reviewers here of Dr Apa. His 'insta' success has gone to his head, he really believes the hype (he thinks he is a celebrity) is arrogant and dismissive. To the point where he makes you feel like an idiot for asking questions or wanting an input into your treatment. He really just wants you to do what he says so he can move on to the next patient. He works on patients that actually don't need veneers and could have had something less invasive but he wants money so will recommend the most change to get the money. I'm not happy at all, I have a lopsided smile which I never had before, I smile now to show as less teeth as possible. Hate them and they are so thick compared to my other teeth. Make sure you get him to do a mock up photo of you to see if you like it or not. Do your research before you go, know exactly what make of veneer you want, the colour, how natural and bring in pictures. There are many brand types; Feldspathic (the best very natural) and Pressable Ceramic Veneers (emax) and he may not give you the best quality despite paying an arm and a leg. The ceramicist has a major input and he uses several different people for this and not all of them are of the same quality. If you are not wanting people to know that you've had them done then the quality and how natural they look is very important- a few people that I don't know well have asked me have I had veneers which kind of tells you that they are obvious and not natural. Also despite what people say it is not a nice procedure, don't be fooled by that - the noise is horrendous ! You will probably think afterwards wtf did I do that for, really think about it! once it's done it's done and you can't get your old teeth back. Plus you'll need to do this again in probably 15 or 20 years. If they aren't that bad live with them, get them whitened, use prices etc. they are part of you :) read more

I now have gum disease - I've seen multiple periodontists who have said it's caused by the veneers - there are "bulky" margins that collect plact - ie sloopy, subpar work. I've also had multiple dentists express shock at his sloppy choices. This guy is a hack- DO NOT see him. He is a hack. read more

Just a marketing ploy. Horrible work. I had 6 veneers done at its been a nightmare. Gums were so inflammed after and ive been in so much pain. Should have never gone through this. Im regretting everything!!! Dr Apa is so confident at first but thats how he gets you and he knows it. He could care less about his patients and more about his self worth. I can go on n on. Dont go here. Trust me. I fell for the trap. I ended up going to another dentist and everythin has been so much better. Apa doesnt really care. read more

As stated in several of these reviews, Dr. Apa is arrogant, short and sloppy...on two occasions he even tried passing me off to his dental apprentice (assistant / intern) instead of doing the work himself. I'd expect far more from such an overly confident and overpriced dentist. The work he did needed to be fixed by another dentist (only one year later) who couldn't believe the choices made by Apa. The bad reviews are buried in here, but all are accurate. Not sure why Yelp has given him 4 stars when clearly there are a number of dissatisfied patients. With so many smart and skilled dentists in the city, think twice before visiting this practice. read more

I've been watching Dr Apa's work vía Instagram for some time. what most impressed me is the precision and focus on ensuring the patient's facial features are complimented by the veneers resulting in a gorgeous natural smile. Yes, it's expensive but it's an amazing investment! So much more than just a smile. My experience began with a virtual consultation coordinated by Jackie. From there, she navigated the entire process. She's an amazing ambassador and patient navigator. I am going to repeat what someone said below (have cut and pasted) because this was EXACTLY my view of Dr Apa after a consult. He loves himself and comes across as a jerk. From his instagram it is clear he doesn't like criticism - e.g. when people question his results. While I liked some of his work, not all, I didn't like his attitude and felt that if you are not satisfied with the outcome he would be impossible to deal with. He also indicated that there wouldn't be a consult with Jason Kim (ceramist), which really surprised me - given his arrogance I can only assume he has now decided he is the star, not Jason. So anyway, this is the other review that prompted me to post as a similar takeaway opinion of him: Apa is an arrogant, overpriced dentist who gloats constantly about how rich and successful he is. Greed and elitism are not admirable traits. I have gone for a consult with him and decided to find a more humble dentist who has developed his character more then his bank account. read more

Dr. Rosenthal is incredible. He is confident but not arrogant, which is something I expect in a skilled dentist. He is also super friendly and funny. I've had some pretty extensive work done in this office and Dr. Rosenthal, as well as the rest of his team, made me feel personally cared for throughout the entire process. I'm extremely pleased with the work that was done and, for the first time in my life, get compliments on my smile from complete strangers. The facilities here are beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Rosenthal Apa Group is about as spa-like as a dentist's office can get. All of the support staff are wonderful as well. They are friendly, efficient, and have strong communication skills. Dr. Apa changed my life! No that is not an exaggeration. For years I lived with teeth I hated --- full of gaps and ground down to nubs. I had put off getting veneers because I considered it "cosmetic". When I ground my teeth through the enamel I came to Dr. Apa. He gave me beautiful, and more importantly *natural* looking teeth. For the first time in years I started smiling. And what a difference it made. It turns out people really respond to smiles --- who knew?
