I was a loyal customer with the Family pharmacy on Fenton rd in Flint for about 2 years, and…read morealthough I was meet with poor customer service and the blonde head pharmacist who had the personality of 'a rock' and who was always rude and short with me I continued to have my prescriptions filled there due to the convenience that the pharmacy was located about 5 mins from my home and also the fact that larger commercial pharmacies I had used in the pass became such a hassle with my medication being out of stock or the medication had to be ordered. I thought Family pharmacy would be a better choice for me so I ignored some the "red flags" I experienced when I joined Family pharmacy starting the poor customer service you recieve when you walk in to pick up your prescription the counter lady never greets you with a simple "hello, or May I help you" instead you get a blank stare until you speak up to tell her your name and you are there for a prescription pickup. The hours and sometimes days it takes for your prescription to be filled is ridiculous, you are given no updates on the status of prescription and using the Rxlocal app to check your status is not helpful because the app would show closed when the pharmacy was open for hours when you called in to check the status of your prescription the pharmacist was so nasty and would give a very long time frame when you prescription would be ready. Recently my prescription was sent to Family pharmacy by my Dr's office in error because I no longer wanted my prescription sent to Family pharmacy and choose to use another small local pharmacy my prescription was there at Family pharmacy for 2 days until I called myself to inquire was my prescription sent there in error and indeed it was, I asked the pharmacist why wasn't I informed after 2 days of my prescription being sent there in error she simply responded "You are right I guess I could of called you". this speaks of the unprofessional mishandling of your prescription needs. I have now switch to Big Brother pharmacy where the customer service, the speedy prescription fills, as well as the updates you are given without the hassle of calling to inquire the status of your medication the service all around is exceptional. I would not recommend Family pharmacy to anyone if you value your time and customer service is important to you.

The meat departments has a great staff to assist you. They even once told me how to cook a roast for the best flavor and tenderness. The sales are good and they have a super reward program. Every hundred dollar you spend you will receive $.10 off a gallon a gas within the month. The points build up at any Kroger stores. I like getting my gift cards there especially when they double or quadruple the points you receive, then the gas points s rack up.

For one illegal billing, billing what ever insurance will go through instead of the correct primary…read moreins follow by the secondary and medicaid last resort. but instead billing territory then medicaid which is illegal. making rude comments because my daughter has four insurances. charging her for medical supply that per medicaid is covered 100% like dexcoms. this place at one time was very personal and very caring. now you have to constantly stay on top of the pharmacy to make sure they are billing insurance correctly and billing all insurances. each time for the same medication depending on the pharmacist depends if a script is covered when all insurances are ran properly or because for what ever reason the pharmacist does not know how to bill the insurances correctly then charges us for scripts that where covered 100% from the last month pharmacist. And excuses do not line up each time. Last time I was told by a rude lady pharmacist at Union on 11/3/25 that she put whatever insurance goes through then bills medicaid. which medicaid is the last resort and should be, so beware that there is some shady billing going on with some of the pharmacist. And we have other friends that get the same scripts that we pay for that the friends don't pay for like the dexcom. And yes the friends daughter has BCBS and then medicaid as the same as my daughter. Yes going some where else but the customer service has went way down from the previous years. Each time we have to tell them how to run our insurances why are they not putting notes in the file so they know how to run the insurances each time. And why does one pharmacist care and does the billing correctly. And the other pharmacist does not care or see that you can not pick and choose which insurance you bill. this is wrong.

This place is small, there is typically never a wait to drop off, or pick up. The staff is friendly enough, and they've even refilled things for me when my prescription wasn't renewed. I had a week in between when my doctor could see me and my thyroid medication was gone. So the pharmacist spotted me enough to last me that time. Which was very nice, a corporate or chain pharmacy likely wouldn't do something like that. They sell your typical drugstore stuff, but really all I use them for is the pharmacy.
