I shop at this Meijer fairly often and must commend the people in the deli for their consistently friendly and efficient service. They have a tough job handling a line of customers with varying requests and preferences for how they want their meat and cheese items sliced- yet I've never had a bad experience. They seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs. I've had some frustration with other areas of the store being out of stock on some items, but this situation seems to be improving. The prices are good on sale items, and it helps to have the Meijer app on your phone to clip digital coupons and save more. The area where more improvement is needed is with short staffing of cashiers. I realize this is a problem at other stores as well. Some cashiers are nicer and more knowledgeable than others. Today, I purchased ice cream and asked my cashier and yet another cashier (or staff member) where I could find the insulated bags for frozen food items (for purchase). Both told me they didn't have any. I know I had purchased these Meijer bags before, but didn't have any in my car today. So okay, maybe they ran out. After waiting in a long line and checking out, I was walking toward the exit when I saw the insulated bags I was looking for near the self-checkout area. I picked one up and asked a cashier/staff member if I could pay for one bag without waiting in line again- given that I had asked two different staff members about the bag before checking out. I was told that I would need to stand in line again (with my melting ice cream). I explained that no one could tell me where to find them and in fact that they didn't have them. I didn't receive an apology, only a shoulder shrug. I was so annoyed by the lack of customer service and outright indifference that that I put the "chill" bag back and walked out. Based on today's experience, I would have given a lower rating, but have balanced my overall experiences and value in settling on 3 stars- hoping that management will provide better training to ensure a higher level of customer satisfaction. read more

I buy my flowers from Meijer every year and have always had good luck. I have done nothing different this year but the flowers I bought at the end of May were dead by the middle of June. I spent a lot of money for hanging baskets and porch pots of flowers and most are already dead. They usually last until I am ready for Fall plants. I don't know if it is their supplier;s fault or what, but I have never had trouble with flowers like I have had this year. My flowers I bought elsewhere for my window box have done well. I am VERY unhappy with the flowers this year. I doubt I will be buying next year. read more

I mostly order by delivery these days. Today I placed a delivery order this afternoon around 4PM, for delivery between 8 and 9 PM. It was a large order, around $250. There were something like 16 items out of stock. This is par for the course for this Meijer. It really gets annoying texting back and forth with the delivery person trying to pick the best substitution from the less desirable options available. Do I want boneless wings to sub for the regular wings? I guess so. Until I got them and realized they were nowhere near as tasty. They're out of the Haagen Dazs ice cream I ordered. What to get instead? I asked for Phish Food but the shopper accidentally picked up dairy free Phish Food. A few bites, not so good, into the trash it goes. Oh well :-( The shopper did a decent job I think, it's hard to get everything accurate and timely in a situation like this with so many substitutions. It would be one thing if I'd placed the order a couple days earlier, it could be hard to project inventory that far in advance. But the order was placed just a few hours before the delivery time. I have been going back and forth between Kroger and Meijer for groceries lately. A Kroger order this size, you might have 5 or so items out of stock, maybe 10 on a really bad day. Not 16. Kroger I usually do pickup, because if I recall correctly their delivery is by a third party and you have to sign up for a separate account, like you're directed to the third party website to complete the order. That was a year or more ago, so it could have changed or I could remember wrong. Meijer delivery is also by a third party, Shipt, but it is processed through the Meijer website, which at least gives me some confidence that Meijer stands behind the order. For my next delivery order I might switch to Kroger anyway, I'm getting tired of all the things being out of stock at Meijer. Meijer does tend to be slightly cheaper than Kroger I think. I haven't really done a careful comparison. And Meijer has a couple of items that Kroger doesn't carry, namely flavored seltzer in bottles (why Kroger stopped carrying that I have no idea!) and especially good chicken wings in the deli department. But those are both often out of stock . . . sigh. Kroger also carries items that Meijer doesn't, for instance better quality smoked salmon and generally their store brands are better than Meijer's. Why does Meijer have these inventory problems but Kroger doesn't? I think Kroger probably keeps more backstock so that they just run out of stock less often. But that's just a guess. It could be that they keep comparable amounts of backstock but Kroger does a better job of managing their inventory. read more

To be honest, I can't see that anything we did was inappropriate inside of the store. But this medium-sized black male was harassing my parents and me and accusing us of taking photos and playing inside the Meijer. We were not doing any of the things I think it was because of our Indian ancestry. he was calling us rude names like "curry munchers". We were about to call the police for a hate crime! This is not the first time something has happened to me inside of this "clean" shopping center. One time I was with one of my friends and we were coming to buy dog food and we noticed that on the floor there was a DEAD FISH!!!!! My friend and I went to the closest worker and said "We just saw a dead fish on the ground". He didn't seem to care and shrugged it off. After that, we were running out the doors in disgust. I have been to coming to this meijer for many years when I lived in the area. Every time I come to visit my family I usually need to make a stop here. This particular visit was for alcohol. I was impressed with meijer's selection and even more impressed with their cider selection. Score for me!! On my way to pay for my purchase my husband saw necco wafers and immediately had to buy them for nostalgia reasons. It is something we haven't seen in awhile and it made him happy. Why is it that people who work late have to suffer at your store? I got off work around 9:30p and went into this location around 10p. I did my shopping and by 11:30p there was a "We are closing in 30 minutes announcement". I get to the front with a decent sized cart... more that 20 items... get in line at the only register that is open... one person with a good sized cart ahead of me... And it takes the cashier like 15 minutes to scan and bag and cash out the girl in front of me. Now it's my turn... and it takes her just as long to scan and cash me out. She moved slow, physically. Like the sloth from Zootopia. By the time, I was walking out. She had a line that wrapped around and down passed the self cash out stands. Honestly... if I was the manager... I'm talking the manager that does the hiring and the general manager. I would be embarrassed. That shows my lack of incompetence when knowing the strength and weaknesses of my staff. It also shows that you don't care about your employees or your customers either. She was probably stressed because she knows all eyes are on her, and everyone after me was probably going to be upset by the time they got to cash out. No manager in sight either. ALSO... it does no good to hide holes of a product you don't have in stock. You don't have it... that's bad enough. But don't make it worse by hiding an empty shelving spot with something that doesn't belong in that spot. For one thing... Employees don't pay attention to the pricing of the items... So something that is on sale with the tag that is out of stock... is replaced with something that isn't on sale and not the same price... isn't fair to me when I get up to the counter. So I end up having to look at the UPC on the box... and see if it matches the UPC on the shelf. I shouldn't have to do that. read more

There's nothing exceptionally fantastic or horrendous about this location, it's just average. I avoid shopping here because their checkout lines are ridiculous - they've got 20+ lanes but *might* have half of them open. You wind up waiting twice as long to check out as you do at other stores unless you go during off times - if you work a 9-5, that's just not an option. Kroger is just around the corner and I can be in and out of there in no time. read more

Meijer is a wonderful store but definitely not shopping at this location. I got food there before and it was moldy and had been eaten. i complained about this to the store and they didn't not care. My daughters and my White gay male adopted son came home and came to me saying that a manager with blonde highlights and she didn't have a name tag. She told my kids to leave and she was following them around the store. I find it to be because my daughter are African American and my gay male son felt unsafe and scared. My one daughter has depression and anxiety. In her words "it felt like a horror movie when the characters are trying to escape the monster/villain". She was scared for her life because she has very felt like that before. I don't appreciate this Meijer you are supposed to make sure people feel safe and are comfortable. She said that they were "stealing". My kids told me they weren't and she told my daughter that she was told that she stole her phone case. I bought her that phone case. She told them that they are not allowed to be in Meijers with out an adult and that they will be trespassed. I do not understand why my kids always come in to this location after school to buy stuff and to hangout. We have spent a lot of money at this store. I do hope that this lady get fired for being a racist. A lot of kid/teens come into this location and I have seen many teens stealing from this location. If my kids was stealing I would know I have a good relationship with my kids. I just don't understand why my kids are the only ones being kicked out. A worker by the name of Thomas, told my kids to stop told my kids to stop bouncing balls and they were going to buy them and they bounced the ball once. My Africa American daughter said that she tried apologizing and she didn't feel appreciated that. Thomas raised his voice at her white male brother. My kids and there friends have told me about this lady several times this lady has been a problem with many of people due to these reviews. It has gone so far as to where I have called about her to the store and i was ignored. Please to the lady FOLLOWING my kids around and RECODING them with out there consent and they are MINORS as well gets the help she need and loses her job because no GROWN women should be following MINORS around and RECORDING them. Also when my daughter was getting going get her jacket out of the cart she ran up to the cart the lady took from them and this manager lady HITS my youngest daughter w the cart she was just trying to get her jacket. I love meijers but how am I supposed to try on a swim suit when tour dressing rooms are not open and you won't open them? I'm not going to take it home 20 mins try it on then return it if it doesn't fit. Your clothes are super cute but I can't try any of them on becuase your dressing room isn't open. I'm a woman, women's clothes all fit differently and some of your clothes run small but I'm supposed to waste gas running back and forth because you can't have a dressing room open. I like Meijer but, definitely not this location. The employees are rude and not helpful. I was simply completing a Shipt order like I normally do and the manager with blonde hair told me I couldn't purchase it because my license had expired a week ago on my 25th birthday. I told her I had an appointment to get it renewed this Friday and even offered to call my dad and have him send a picture of my birth certificate to show that I am 25. She said absolutely no way, RULES ARE RULES, even though I had bought alcohol from there the day before when a male worker looked at my license and there were no issues (also for Shipt). I personally think she took her job way too seriously as a manager of Meijer and wanted to seem like she was in some sort of power position. It could've been very simple as it's not super easy to get your license renewed immediately after it expires but, she just wasn't trying to work with me at all. A few of the workers at the self checkout areas are just horrible - both in their earlier 20s. I know one of them is named Marie. I said "Hi" to her as I walked into the checkout area and obviously she mumbled something inappropriate under her breath because it shocked two guys next to her. The two guys said, "What was that you just said to him, Marie? Do you want to say louder so that everyone can hear? Gosh! What a mouth!" Later, I found out that this girl is attending college to become a teacher! Lol. Then, when I returned a while after that i was joking around with the other one I previously mentioned to make her smile. She was texting a lot on her phone which I don't think Meijer approves of this while workers on punched in. All of sudden, she screamed something at me! The people around me just stopped snd stared at her like she was nuts! I don't know if I was interrupting her texting or what! Lol. Chances are that everyone has been in a Meijer's at least once in their life. This store just about fits the cookie cutter mold. Food on the left, clothes in the middle, everything else on the right and in the back. They have the usual corporate sales and standard prices, so there's not really any surprises with the prices. This Meijer has the 12 items or less self scan, as well as the unlimited items self scan with the conveyor belt. Often times it is still faster to have a person check you out because many people tend to be slow at the self scan checkout lanes, but that's just my observation. read more

Generally, I love Meijer. I usually go to the locations on Alexis or Central ave, but ended up in the Rossford store yesterday. I had BIG problems at the service desk trying to get keys made. The ATTITUDE and RUDENESS was atrocious!! The keys didn't match my original, it took an hour and a half to cut 3 keys (incorrectly), and most irritating was the shitty way I was treated. The "customer service" representative actually tried to shame me by telling me "its not a big deal" and "there's no need to snatch"......REALLY? Nice, ladies, really nice. Never again. read more

I was out Christmas shopping after Thanksgiving and wanted to take something easy home for dinner. I stopped at the Deli because I love their chicken. It was a little past 8 P.M. and the chicken area had just closed. I ask the girl if I could still buy some, there was at least 40 pieces left along with fries, chicken tenders etc. She replied no, she could not sell it. I ask if she was going to box it and set it out, or save it for the next day. She replied no, I have to throw it out. I was shocked! I said to her: You mean to tell me you won't sell me any, but your going to throw it out? She replied: Yes, I have to, the reason is because we use to sell it half price after 8 p.m. but we had people lined up waiting until after 8:00 to purchase it at a discount, so now they throw it out. Not because it was old, but because they didn't want to sell it half price, which by the way I was not looking to do. I ask if I could pay full price but was told no. Shame on you Meijer. read more
