If I could give less I would. Mechanic was very nice but the guy at the counter was rude. Was charged 1100$ for a water pump. They broke temp sensor because it was working when car was brought in then wanted to charge more for that! When they broke it! Never again. Now I know why there was literally no cars in the lot or the bays. Update: contacted corporate because they actually cut the pigtail to the temperature sensor that is connected to the wiring harness. All their corporate office did was reach out to the guy that screwed my car up and was belligerent did not rectify and refused to rectify. Next stop my lawyers office. read more

Buyer beware. Avoid this shop at all cost!!! 1 star is far more than what this shop deserves!!! Daughter hit a pothole and took the car into a shop that specializes in wheels/tires to have it inspected. She had to replace the tire...and had the wheel inspected (tire taken off, no visible dents or cracks, no vibration, no loss of tire pressure, and found to be in balance. Wheel has bad wheel rash, but was determined by a specialized wheel/tire shop to be perfectly safe. A month later, she takes her car into Meineke (Winchester, VA) to get an annual VA safety inspection, and they fail for an "unsafe rim"!!! Mind you, Meiteke is not a specialized wheel or tire shop -- but they do perform state safety inspections (and attitude with customers is similar the going to DMW). Then of course, Meiteke tries aggressively to sell her a used rim, telling her not to go anywhere else or they she would get ripped off. Sounds like a illegal scam to me! So I called the shop, to tell them that she had the wheel inspected by a specialized wheel shop (gave them details on how it was inspected and they it shows no signs of being unsafe to drive on)...but Meieke simply said that "they determined it was unsafe -- because they perform state inspections"!!! I again asked how they determined it was unsafe, and they would not answer -- "only that they are licensed to perform state inspections". Seems to me that they shouldn't be, but we'll see what the VA state inspection office had to say about it!!! So time you pass my Meiteke, hold on to you wallet, and ask yourself, why would anyone want to take their car to a shop like this? If you live in Winchester VA, don't go here! There are plenty of better shops who know what they are doing. read more

I have been a customer for years. I have a new car and can get my oil changed for free. I want to support local businesses so I went there. New owner and he's incompetent. I had called and spoke with him for the appointment. I arrived today. No appointment. No apology. Then he needed my tag. So he went to my car to get the tag. He entered the tag and he said that tag was not tied to the DMV. He then said he needed my VIN. I didn't trust him at this point. So I took a picture of tag and VIN. When I got back I asked him what tag he used. He had written it on his hand. WRONG. I told him what happened to the prior guy that worked there that I had never had a problem in years He said he's no longer here. And he then said I hadn't had a problem with him. So then the employee showed up that He just told me no longer worked there. So he's lost a long time customer. read more

I stopped in two days ago without an appointment to get my son's car safety inspection done. The manager, I think his name was Mr. Bo (first name), was so kind. I just lost my job and had an interview at noon. I arrived at 10:15. He said he would try to help me so I didn't have to come back later. While there, I struck up an amazing conversation with a lovely lady (and her dog), and Mr. Bo announced he would like to do a good deed for the day. He asked the lady if she would mind giving me her spot in line, which she kindly agreed. He did this in such a thoughtful way and was just a pleasant, kind man. He was able to get me out of there by 11:01. His goal was 11:00. This was such a caring gesture that I had to share it. I will only be going to his store for my future business. Thank you! read more

Meineke Winchester MEINEKE IN WINCHESTER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALMOST TAKING MY LIFE Please read until the end with patience. To come home 2 hours and 30 minutes from Lynchburg VA (school) to get my EXHAUST fixed since my car was sounding like a tractor. I had a 04 Subaru Outback that I dropped my car off and came to pick it up at 7:30pm where the owner, Oz told my mom and I that they FILLED the hole in my exhaust and there is a oil leak but they ran out of time trying to find where the OIL LEAK was. At the time, mom and I were very satisfied with the price we paid and the service at the time which is why it's unfortunate that I have to take to social media but here we go. While I was on the interstate to get back home in Stephens city from Meineke in Winchester, the whole hood of my car flies up, smashes my windshield, and my line of vision of the road goes black. I honestly can't tell you my exact feelings at the time. The best I can describe my feeling is shock. It felt like looking death right in the face.Again, I was in the fast lane with a 18 wheeler on my right and a big pickup truck riding my tail. I immediately thought to get off on the left but there was no where to go. I had to think fast. I put my hazard lights on in hopes that the surrounding cars could catch a hint or just hopefully see my cry for help. I ended up just BARELY seeing a sliver of something where I could see the 18 wheeler. I just barely cut it off with no reliable vision and I make it in the right lane as well as make it to the Exxon right off the ramp.All while this is happening, my mom was two cars behind that 18 wheeler, watching her daughter swerving, assuming it was a popped tire but to her surprise, when she pulls up next to me, she sees my whole hood bent back and covering my windshield. She was pretty hysterical, me? Still in shock. THEY DID NOT CLOSE MY HOOD BACK AFTER THEY UNLATCHED IT! My mom called the owner of the shop hysterical and in shock in response to the events that have just unfolded. Oz immediately denied that they did anything under the hood and that they didn't even go under it. The owner also said he'd check the cameras and blah blah. For someone who claims to not be responsible, he came to the gas station my car is at and told my mom that he'd take care of everything. The men he brought with him even tested my hood to verify that it wasnt just randomly popping up. Two grown men tried to pull my hood up to see if it truly was just the latch, it was not. My mom had confidence he would do the right thing once he told us he'd take care of everything (he drove my car back to the shop) until Monday comes around and he tells us personally he would not put his child back in the car but it is looking at ONLY *600* dollars worth of damage... All while this happens he's still refusing to take accountability for the situation I had to endure as a result of HIS SHOPS CARELESSNESS. My car was a authentic Subaru. The people I purchased this from brung it to Subaru dealerships and all the parts are from Subaru as well. I honestly don't see myself comfortably riding in it no more without constant flashbacks of my car hood flipping up. The thought itself is crippling. Even being in the car now with someone else driving, i feel like I can barely breathe sometimes, especially on the highway. I sometimes can't help but push on the hood of my moms car before I get in for extra security. In short, I have never had a hand out. Everything i got, I had to scrape together to earn. I've never gotten a ticket, never got pulled over, no accidents (gratefully still none).I was supposed to be back at school. The owner/manager of the shop Oz, hung up in my moms face when she requested his insurance information so we could file a claim after he chose not to take proper accountability and quite frankly, we no longer trust the services of this shop. It would be no surprise to find something else deeply wrong with the car once we did get it back from the possession of Meineke on Pleasant valley ave in Winchester. We called corporate TWICE with no call back and when i called the second time I discovered corporate contacted the owner first where the owner again LIED on the record saying the didn't have any reason to check under my hood. But still they haven't contacted us. Please put yourself in my shoes or even my mothers. I pray nobody is put in this same situation as I am. Can I leave negative stars? I hate to leave this place a bad review because it definitely USED TO BE a great place with friendly staff and good service. The guy at the desk got under my hood (knowing he's not a mechanic) and told me I would probably need an entirely new engine. He told me to come back that Saturday because all of his mechanics had left for the day (it was about 12 pm). So I came back Saturday and he acted like he never told me to come back that day, was completely confused about what I was asking him, proceeded to cuss me out (I'm not exaggerating), and then throw me out and approach me in a threatening manner (all in front of my 9 month old baby). The mechanic (also someone I had never seen before) watched all of this go down and did nothing about it. I was so upset that I cried for quite some time at home after this experience. I don't know why this place has gone down hill so badly but I recommend no one ever go here and I will never come back. #absolutelyawful read more

This Meineke replaced the battery- did not fully check to see if the battery just needed to be charged- and charged almost $300 for a battery replacement! Wanted to give a big shout out to Meineke Car care center located in Winchester, Virginia. During a recent trip that my husband and I took, we heard something come loose in our car and then a horrible grinding noise; my husband thought it might be the transmission. We were both deeply upset as this is our only vacation that we take each year and the prospect of a huge expense as well as missing our trip if parts were unavailable, or the cost was more than the value of our car! We looked up the closest mechanics shop to where we pulled off, and found directions to the Meineke in Winchester Va. We slowly drove our car there not knowing if the car would totally break down before reaching the shop. When we pulled in we were in a state of panic. The manager came out and listened to the car along with the mechanic. The mechanic then pulled the car into the shop and placed it on a lift to diagnose the problem, even though he was scheduled to go on lunch. After about 20 minutes, the manager came back to get my husband and show him the problem. What we thought was going to be devastating news ended up being a simple removal of the heat shield on the engine. The manager told us that we were very lucky because had we driven any longer the heat shield would have wrapped itself around the drive shaft and caused serious damage to the car, making it undriveable. After getting our permission to remove the heat shield with a promise to get it replaced after our trip, The manager told us it would be an additional 20-30 minutes to repair our vehicle. We gave permission and true to his word, the vehicle was ready very quickly. When we went to pay for the work. The manager smiled and said there would be no charge. He stated that he understood what a trauma we had been through and that just a kind word about Meineke's service would suffice. Thank you! Thank you! We wanted to express our gratitude to the manager, the mechanic that day and to the owner of Meineke in Winchester, VA for such fine and understanding service. Went in for the Veterans Day Special. Free oil change, but I was willing to have a couple of other things fixed on the car as well. The good news is that the clerks here know what they're doing. Guy was fast and efficient and told me about a couple of issues on the car that I knew about...and one I didn't. So they do good work there. Bad part? Bait and switch. I was told by clerk that they "do not participate in special offers." Clerk was embarrassed about the whole thing, but he got overridden by owner. The Meineke website DOES NOT specify "participating locations only", thus implying all locations should be participating (EDIT: website specifically says "Any Meineke location", so it IS all locations!). While waiting, heard four more vets (via phone) and two in-person being told that the owner "doesn't care what the website says." The mechanic handling my order looked as though he did not want to take my money, but his hands were tied; the others there looked just as embarrassed. No owner should ever put his employees on the spot like that and not have the courtesy to be present. Don't care if this place gets five stars; duplicity is duplicity and I will not be back. The fact that this is happening to vets on Veteran's Day only makes it that much more damning. read more

Let's all be real, going to a mechanic is like going to a doctors appointment- you never know how long it will take, how much, who's in a bad mood, etc. For all of you giving your mechanics a hard time, suck it up and bring a book for goodness sake. For a chain, I don't mind this place at all. The clerks are normal, hard working guys who don't fluff up the encounter. Fine by me, idc for small talk. There's always transparency on how long it will take, who's working on the car and what you should expect. I also appreciate that these guys are always working. No one is wasting your time with a smoke break or Facebook. They get the job done and it's done well. There's no reason why this place should have anything less than 5 stars. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. The owner here is unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I left feedback saying that I was unhappy getting the run around with making a appointment and how my estimate went from $220 to $1000, the owner called me about the feedback I left and said that if I felt I was being ripped off They didn't need to do any work on the car, I was so taken back by this response and the accusatory tone. I understand how an estimate works, but that is quite a jump. Every time I was trying to speak to clarify what needed to be done to my car, the owner would start speaking over me. After 11 hostile minutes the owner finally says, this conversation isn't going anywhere your car will be ready by 5, and hangs up. He calls back 15 minutes later and says that no work will be done on my car and we need to come get it. I failed an inspection due to a loose muffler pipe, and was told not to use this business by the guy that did my inspection. I went ahead and did it anyways because this place took reservations, but instantly regretted it as I was handed a $350 bill. I took it a second place to get another opinion and the second place place fixed it for $50 in under ten minutes as opposed to replacing the entire exhaust system as was suggested here. Do not use them, they'll cheat you out of your money. Very dishonest. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I came here for a VA inspection on a Monday evening. They told me my right wheel barring was bad, and it needed to be fixed in order to pass inspection. it was close to closing they said if I leave it overnight they could fix it the next day and put the sticker on, I had no issues with getting that replaced and having someone pick me up. Where my issues began was the following day (Tues) when the owner called me and said your car is fixed but, we can't put the sticker on because my inspector is sick but he should be back tomorrow. I said ok, no problem, I'll leave it another night but I need the sticker on it soon and I need my car back because I'm going out of town next week and I have errands to run. He said ok, he understood and that was fine. Then the next day (Wed) I didn't receive a call so I called to check the status of my car, the owner then said "oh my inspector is sick and should be back tomorrow". At this point I'm getting irritated because I just need the sticker put on and I need my car back. The owner then offered to have my car taken to another shop to get it inspected because I was in a hurry to get it back. He said "I'll call you when it's done, it should be done by 3". No call came, the next day (Thurs) I called again, he gave me the same story about his inspector being sick but he'll be back the following Monday and I could come pick up the car, it just has no sticker on it. Then he told me I could bring it back when the inspector is in. I said the WHOLE point was the sticker and I thought you were going to take it to another shop? He said "we did, I took it this morning (mind you, he said he was going to take it to another shop the Wed and didn't) but they are busy and it's hard to find inspectors In this area so they didn't do it." At this point it's been 3 days they've had my car for no reason because it was fixed the first day all over a sticker. The owner kept telling me that the inspector would be in the next day and offering to take it to another shop but didn't. You know how I know he didn't ? Because the owner himself said they close at 5:30, that Thursday evening around 4:30 I got a ride to go get my car after work because I needed it and didn't have anymore time to waste. I pull up, the store was locked, mind you, I talked to the owner earlier that day and he said nothing about closing early. And behold, there was my car, sitting in the garage. It's now Friday, I received no call so again I call.The owner tried to make it seem like no one in the area was doing inspections but that's further from the truth because I was fed up and it took me all of 5 mins calling to only 2 (out of many) other local shops that said they either had no wait time or a couple hours wait time but, it would get done by end of day. he did not try to call anyone. I picked up my car today (Friday) and it had the tire sensor light on etc, I asked if anything was wrong with it, the owner said no, they checked it twice, I then asked why was the sensor not reset . He tried to tell me the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced (it wasn't, it was just replaced in dec) then I asked him why it was not reset again and he said "what do you mean, was it supposed to be reset?" I literally dont think they did the work and I will be disputing this. I drove it 5 mins down the road to another shop, they put the sticker on for me in 30 mins. This was beyond unacceptable AND FRAUD BECAUSE THEY OVER CHARGED ME to have my car there for a week. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING THE WHEEL BARRING SHOULD NOT HAVE COST MORE THAN $200 FOR MY LITTLE CAR UPON GETTING A SECOND OPINION. IF YOU ARE A WOMAN DONT GO HERE! I understand the owner said he only had one inspector, but do not over promise and under deliver. They are PREDATORY! I was more than patient with them and they tried to charge me $1k to get my car fixed they could not have the common courtesy to at least make sure the sticker was on and reset the tire sensor or have consistent communication with me when they had my car. I now have to take it to another shop to do the work.. I will not be returning, the communication and professionalism just was not there they took advantage of me and wasted my time. read more

The technician was rude to me when I brought up I had made an appointment in advance. He told me I would have to wait up to 3 hours behind the walk-ins that came in that morning. I always dread that yearly inspection and being new to the area was having trouble deciding where to go. Glad I picked Meineke. Arrived on a Saturday right when they opened and they took my car right in. I was in and out in 40 minutes after getting an inspection, oil change and tire rotation. Price of the oil change included the tire rotation so no surprises on the bill. What I also appreciated was that they didn't try to sell me on a bunch of different things like other places I have gone to in the past. The staff were friendly. I had and alignment done three months ago. In the three thousand miles I have driven since the alignment, my inner front tires have worn down excessively. They agreed to check and fix. Turns out they didn't align my front end correctly and my rear was out of spec as well. The lead mechanic raised his voice and walked away angry multiple times when I tried to explain to him how to read tire wear. They did adjust my alignment free of charge, but didn't align my steering wheel properly before hand(now the steering wheel is crooked when driving strait), nor did they check the tire pressure before hand for the most accurate read out. It's safe to assume that I won't be going back. read more

My daughter is a student at Shenandoah and was having issues with her car. We don't live in VA and her car needed to be looked at before she drove home for spring break. Called and spoke with Dave and he said he could look at the car that day (as opposed to 2 days later at one repair shop and 4 days later at the dealership!). I was really worried about her being taken advantage of but this place couldn't have been nicer. What I thought was a huge problem wasn't and they didn't try to sell us things we didn't need. Minimal out of pocket and Dave kept in constant contact with us on updates. Picked up the car the next day. Will definitely go back here if we need to have service when she's not home! read more
