I've been going to Robin for over 7 years now for cut and color and recently went to transition my…read morehair to a lighter tone to blend in my grays. I have quite a bit of gray at the top so I wanted to go lighter than the typical "caramel" tones I would ask for in a regular highlight. Robin referred me to Johnny and he did an amazing job! I showed him a couple pictures of the tones I wanted and he nailed it. Asian hair is a bit tricky to lift without it going brassy so I was pleased that Johnny was able to give me more taupe/beige tones using the balayage technique that would enable me to grow out the color gracefully. A couple notes: Unless your hair has never been dyed, going dramatically lighter is going to take time. I wasn't expecting Johnny to be able to get the lightness right away so I was shocked that he was able to produce the tones I wanted. I'll probably add more light pieces as my grays grow out but this is exactly the starting point I wanted. Also, not sure what the previous reviewer was expecting but balayage actually translates to "sweep" so it's meant to look like the lights were painted on in a natural way. I think balayage is a more modern look but if you're looking for super even then I would stick to traditional highlights. Anyway, having worked with Robin, Rebecca and now Johnny, I think this salon has a great eye for talent!

Thank you Nikki and Joe for working on me for 5-6 hours to get this done. Honestly, I almost feel bad because Nikki would explain to me the process in detail and I would be clueless and just nodding my head since this was my first time and I got no clue about being blonde along with the technical terms included in the process of doing it. She knew this and changed her way of explaining so that I could understand it better. Haha. Things I learned was 1 close my eyes when they're rinsing off the bleach, 2 also close my eyes when I'm on the dryer with the bleach and 3 take all the stretch breaks that's offered. There's always a first time for everyone. The results were amazing!! I was nervous, scared and excited because it was a big change but also I didn't know if the color was gonna match me. She assured me that it would look great and it takes a lot to say something like that because that just meant that she knew what she was doing and it was true. Experience was great! She also fixed my chunky haircut and made it more streamlined which ultimately shaped it up to look amazing. We also did a trial run of curls to see how long it would hold if I decided to get it done a day before my nurse graduation this month. Not to mention they're so eager to help out with your progress shots too. Thank you so much!! Will definitely be back in the future. :)

I gave it more chance by washing and drying the day after, but it's overall disappointing. I had mentioned a few times I want to keep it longer like the picture I showed, but it wasn't heard. I couldn't say much more once the stylist made the very first snip and had to go along with it. It became even shorter by the end. I wish the stylist had been more proactive about the consultation before proceeding with the cut. I got an impression that the stylist wanted to get through the hair cut session as a quickly as possible. This was for upcoming graduation, so it is more disappointing. Again, very nice lady.
