I wanted to dye my hair here and decided not to after my consultation. Like the owner here likes to say, "the vibes were off". I walked into the salon and I don't know if it's because I don't fit the look of the clients here, but the owner stops talking to the client she was working on and stares me up and down and lets me just stand there looking lost because I wasn't sure where I was supposed to wait to meet with Kelsey. It's a tiny salon too so she was just staring directly up and down at me like a weirdo and doesn't say a word to me, then continues to talk to her client. I eventually peeked in the other room to see if Kelsey was there and she seemed nice and asked me to have a seat and give her few minutes. Personally I think customer service goes a long way, long enough for me to decide where I will and won't spend a few hundred dollars. The owner seems full of it so this review is mostly for others who feel customer service is important (especially when you're paying for it!). As a Latina, it's exhausting trying to find good businesses that are not pretentious and snobby in the South Bay. As it is, I already feel out of place in RPV, it's apparent the owner wants only a specific type of clientele, just read her responses on the one star reviews here. As for Kelsey, she seems sweet and the only thing that made me realize I wasn't coming back, was when she told me she would text me later that day to send me photos of ideas she had for my hair and she never did. After a week of not getting a red, I realized I just didn't get a good vibe. Like many others I can't review the services because my appointment got so screwed up. I reached out to Tammy to book an appointment. She gave me a time with Kelsey. I immediately responded it would work perfectly. The next day Tammy said, oops, that's already taken, here are so other times. So I booked for today and she said I was confirmed. I get up at 6:30am on a Saturday, drive 35 minutes, and get to the salon. Kelsey, the person who's supposed to cut my hair, asks me if I'm someone else. Nope. I'm me. They booked me at the wrong time. They booked me for FRIDAY the next week. Not even the right day of the week. Granted, I did get a text confirming my appointment and it was sent through for the time I didn't book but I get so many texts. I didn't pay enough attention. I'll take responsibility for that but come on. I expect people to be able to book an appointment. I'm guessing the other person also got booked for the wrong time and won't show up. But who knows. I cannot say enough good things about this salon. First, when I called to ask about pricing, Tammy, the owner, was so kind and helpful. She talked with me for a while about my hair type and who would be the best person to work on it. Kelsey worked on my hair and she is the sweetest person. She put a lot of time and care into my hair, and was so much fun to talk to. The whole experience was a joy. And MY HAIR HAS NEVER LOOKED THIS GOOD. When she finished, I couldn't believe my eyes. My hair is very very thick, wavy and frizzy, so usually pretty hard to work with. But Kelsey is a wizard. She cut it to the perfect length, and texturized it so it wouldn't be so poofy. A lot of people told me not to get bangs, but I decided, eh why not? Wow am I glad I did. And wow am I glad I went to Kelsey. She cut it to the perfect length and shape. And! She does complementary fringe trims, so if there's anything I want fixed with them, like if I want the bangs thicker, I can stop by! Also I really appreciated that they didn't push me to buy hair products despite me not knowing anything about fringe care. They recommended a product and gave me a sample in a container so I could try it out and come back if I like it! And they gave me great advice with hair care. If I could give this place ten stars, I would. I'd gone looking for a new salon after my previous stylist moved to a different part of town, and came upon this place. Probably about a year overdue for a haircut and feeling a bit sheepish regarding my tangled head of hair, not to mention nervous about walking into a new place - lord knows what butchery was about to happen - I was instantly put at ease by Sara and the friendliness of the rest of the crew at Salon Lucid. Sara is incredibly talented and so easily chats with you it feels as though you're out to brunch gossiping over mimosas with your bestie (and they do actually have mimosas there) and the vibe of the whole salon is very chill and relaxed. I called to schedule an appointment after a friend recommended Tammy to me. I called and spoke w/Tammy to schedule an appointment. She was so kind and energetic even on the phone- I felt comfortable from the start. She asked me about my hair, what I was looking for and she said she would schedule me with Kelsey. She told me I would love her & I absolutely did. As soon as I walked in the door she made me feel welcome. She was also super attentive as to what I wanted. On top of that, she was a riot to chat with while she worked. She cut my hair with minimal direction and made it look so cute! This place is fantastic. I don't normally go to fancy salons. I'm really more of a major chain haircut guy, and only when somebody makes me go, but I'm a total convert now. Tammy is some sort of wizard with scissors, and my hair looks better than it ever has. If I had a complaint it would probably be that I'm TOO sexy now. My wife thinks I got my hair cut this way so I can run off with some kind of bikini model or actress, and it took me an hour to convince her that I just want to look good so I can feel good about myself and bring that positive energy into our relationship. I've been going to Tammy for about 4 years now. Before her, I never had a bad haircut, but I did think that it was normal to not LOVE your haircut the first day or so. I always had to go home and restyle it when it was done, but like I said, it was never bad.... Then, after my mom and sister convinced me, I took the plunge. Let me just say, that first time...I walked out and I LOVED my haircut. I didn't want to change a thing. Now, I can't imagine going to anyone else-for cut or color. She's a genius and just an amazing person in general. I literally sit down and say "I trust you, do as you please!" and am happy every single time. Also, all 3 girls in there-Brenda, Nicole, and Maria- were Tammy's assistants at one point before becoming stylists on their own. Each girl is VERY talented...and can give a pretty mean neck massage. Susie does the best gel manicure in the south bay! My mother has been going to her for YEARS, and I jump on the wagon every now and then. Found this salon on yelp while looking for a good place for a blow dry and style. They were extremely accommodating and fit two of us on Sunday afternoon. Sara was very friendly and spent a lot of time on my hair. I was happy with the final product but I did find it to be a bit pricy. $135 for a blowout and a blowout w/style seems a bit high. I have had my hair done by Mariana many times and every time she has done an amazing job on it in diverse services like haircuts, highlights and coloring when I used to color my hair, guidance about my transition to my natural grey hair, treatments like a glaze to enhance my grey hair and excellent recommendations of products to maintain my hair free of yellowish tones. I came into Salon Lucid for the first time this week. Just want to drop a note here about how pleased I am with my experience with Sara! I've lived in Redondo my whole life but I've struggled to find a stylist who makes me feel comfortable, takes the time to have a real consultation with me before cutting away, and whose work feels "worth it" to me for the area's high prices. But Sara was wonderful--she truly took her time to understand the style I wanted and I felt so pampered by the end! My long hair went from dull and heavy to having beautiful layers and movement, and it was so smooth and shiny! At the end I also found out the price would be discounted because I was a first time customer, which was such a pleasant surprise! I've never left a salon thinking "I'll definitely come back to her! I love her!" but that's how I felt after this experience. Ran right home to recommend her to my mom and a good friend. Brenda has done my color here twice and I love it! The salon atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and comfortable. I've never left less than 100% satisfied. I have a black to green balayage, I definitely recommend scheduling an appointment with Brenda if you have or want a non traditional hair color. Haha, made an appointment on the same day. I had a great experience with Marco Garcia, the bob king (that's what he called himself). He was very sassy, friendly and nice. He will be your best friend once you walk in as his client. And let me tell you, he got all three things that you want for your hairstylist to be: 1) great and easygoing personality that nobody can hate: you will know right away when you walk into the salon if he's marco or not. He will recognize you first by eye contact and gesture. He enjoys what he does and is definitely on top of everything for his clients. 2) haircut skills & techniques/ communication skills: you can already tell when you start talking to the hair stylist. He will let you know and clarify what you really want before he starts cutting/or even touching your hair. He will let you know what's best for you and your facial shape and etc. He will also be honest about your hair if you dare to do something harmful/too much on your hair. 3) Make-up artist skill? Absolutely an expert! I suck at putting make up on. And, I told him about it. He had extra 20 minutes before his next client arrived. So, he briefly gave me free lesson and taught me how to contour and put eyeliners! He's amazing! I wish he was my hair/make up stylist everyday! You should also check out his instagram if you're curious about his make-up skills. First of all I was originally going to give the salon a rating of a one, but at least the owner of the salon, Tammy, took ownership of my bad experienced and tried to repair my hair cut. For the last 4 years I've been seeing the same stylist at a different salon and she was doing a fine job. I really had no problems except I felt she was cutting my hair a little too short. So I went on Yelp when I was desperately in need of a haircut and saw that Salon Lucid ONLY had 5 star reviews (warning). If they were so good I would be happy to have anyone cut my hair. I'm a guy, how difficult could it be. I got a walk in appointment and confirmed the rate of $40 (more than what I had been paying) I was greeted by a young man who had just started there. On first impressions he seemed fine. Again, I'm a guy, I'm easy. Oh crap, what am I doing, let me cut to the chase. 45 minutes later (yes 45! for a guys cut) I left the salon, made it to my car just as my meter was expiring, and headed home where my wife looked at me and said "I thought you were getting a haircut". She examined my hair and started laughing. She started playing with my hair and showing me how the left side was shorter than the right side, the front of my hair didn't look like it was touched at all and the top of my head was really short. I was furious. I wrote to the owner of the salon with my concerns. The next morning I called Tammy to fix the hair. She did. Sort of. I've been to another stylist since. Long story short. Tammy made good on a bad haircut. But don't believe all the 5 star ratings. Many of those are obviously from friends as this is not a 5 star salon. But what do I know? I'm just a guy. read more

The hairdresser pretty much said she had no time to style my hair & proceeded to charge me a very ridiculous price for what she did to me.
