I really hesitated doing this review for some time.., but since I won't be coming back. I give them a 3 1/2-4stars, 4 for efforts. I originally had Johnny do my hair, I would not recommend him if you have Asian hair or even for a haircut. My hair was in a ponytail, he undid my ponytail and proceeded to give me a haircut like that, from a ponytail, It ended up very choppy and uneven. I'm shocked that he charges $155 for a haircut when clearly he does not know how to cut hair. We went through a consultation before my actual coloring (completely did not match the pictures we viewed) and he did my color very chunky, very sporadic, and very uneven coloring. I got charged for balayage ($350). This is clearly more of a highlights and he did not do what I asked. Turned out very brassy. The owner took a look at my hair and agreed that it's definitely not a balayage and the cut was more like a child cut my hair, the most uneven haircut. To fix my hair, I was assigned to Jacinda, who actually does a great job with cutting and coloring.., she still didn't do my hair what I asked for, still more on the warm brassy look, NOT what I asked. It's much easier to do a brassy color for Asian, (laziness to me, less work, less lifting, less knowledge..) I specifically asked both of the hairstylist to give me a coloring that will blend in with some grey coming in ( which I do not really have much, only tiny cluster on my temple). I showed both of them pictures, but, still did not get the coloring right... Also, I specifically said I do not like to get my hair done a lot, maybe once or twice a yr. With a great balayage that is exactly what I would have to do, come in maybe twice a yr! I received a bill of $350 +155 total of $501 and some change, tipped the guy 20% (I was feeling pressured to tip 20%... Don't even me started on the whole over tipping culture in the US...) I tipped him $101, total $602. Went home and I was shocked! Went back and didn't have to pay, but I felt obligated to tip her another $40 since she had to redo my hair. Now I am at $642. Was told to come back 2 to 3 months and it will cost me $265+ 20% that's $330. This is not what I asked for, I do not want to have to come back every 2 to 3 months. She fixed the chunky and blotchiness, but my hair is still pretty brassy, warm tones. She said that she gave me more of a beige color, but, this is pretty brassy... It's not what I wanted. It's a beautiful job if that's what you want, but, that's not what I asked for after spending this much money. I would come here if you are white but not if you are Asian or have Hispanic dark hair, because they obviously do not know how to lift dark hair. Owner is very nice and so is the front desk Terry. Place is clean and has a cute vibe. read more

I have to say, Laura is hands down the most incredible hairstylist I've ever had (and I've had a lot) as well as just a gem of a human! She is always up to date on hair trends and science. She also cuts and colors hair with a multifaceted approach (looking at it wet, styled, natural dry) which makes for your hair looking amazing at all times and not just when you leave the salon (but it really looks amazing then too). I've tried out a lot of different hair stylists, barbers, and salons and I just haven't seemed to find my fit especially with my short hair -- until now! I came in for a clean up and left with a satisfied content feeling and pep in my step! Finally feeling confident before, during, and after the cut. I am only giving 4 stars due to the issue with hidden costs. Everyone there was SUPER friendly when I took my daughter in to get her hair cut. I chose Felix Design Studio since it had great reviews and on the website it says Children's Haircut (12 & under) are $50. So I thought GREAT, we will go there before school starts again. Everything was wonderful, I played with the owner's super cute dogs while my daughter got her hair cut, the owner introduced himself and couldn't be nicer, I was offered coffee and water, the receptionist was very friendly. All was wonderful - until it came time to pay. The amount comes up on the screen and it says $115. Now, I get my hair dyed, cut and blown out and it costs me $150 at the salon I go to, so having my child's haircut and blowout be $115 seemed outrageous and I even questioned why it was that much and didn't get a specific answer. I didn't want to take my middle schooler to those cheap places like Supercuts anymore but at least they tell you it's extra to wash their hair and blow it out and it's still under $50. I just feel cheated since there was no reasonable explanation as to why her hair cut cost that much. Nothing special was done to her hair and if they did do something (like a fancy conditioner treatment) it was not discussed with me beforehand. That just kind of soured the whole experience unfortunately. read more
