Before staff will even answer basic questions or assist with scheduling, callers are required to locate their insurance card and provide a verification reference number--every single time. This applies even if the patient has already been seen and the information is already on file. This policy creates an unnecessary barrier for patients and caregivers who are simply trying to coordinate medical care. Most healthcare offices maintain insurance information on file and update it when needed. Requiring patients to repeatedly produce the same details before even having a conversation is inefficient and not patient-centered. As someone coordinating care for a parent living with Parkinson's disease and significant mobility limitations, this process is especially problematic. When managing appointments for individuals with serious health conditions, the focus should be on facilitating care--not adding administrative obstacles just to speak with a staff member. With an aging population and increasing healthcare needs--particularly among baby boomers--systems like this will only create more frustration for patients and their families. I strongly encourage Advanced Radiology leadership to reevaluate this policy and implement a process that prioritizes accessibility, common sense, and patient care. sincerely, David Vizcarrondo

    ********** IF I COULD GIVE NRC 10 STARS I WOULD!!! **********…read more I am a senior who has been to dozens of doctors and and medical centers during my lifetime. Some were OK, while others were awful! By far, having my mammogram performed by Norwalk Radiology Consultants was the BEST experience I ever received. To begin when I called to schedule my appointment, a PERSON [Melissa] answered the phone. I mentioned that I did not have a mammogram in over 10 years. We discussed my Medicare insurance. I was informed a mammogram screening would be covered but that an ultrasound, if I wanted one, involved a fee since Medicare no longer covered it as part of a routine screening. I opted for the mammogram screening without the ultrasound. NRC immediately sent a thank you email to me for booking my appointment with them. They provided me with an electronic medical record release form that I forwarded to my prior radiologist. When I arrived for my October appointment, Trea and Erica warmly greeted me. I simply handed my driver license and insurance cards and I was set! No reams of paper nor e-forms to fill out. Rather I was handed a beautiful pink insulated tote bag. How very nice indeed! After a very brief wait (I arrived early for my appointment), Liza walked me to my private dressing room and then I went for my mammogram. Although my appointment was on a Monday afternoon, NRC called my home the following day at 8:59AM with my results. Wow, what service! In addition, my results were sent to my PCP. Super !!! When I arrived home, I turned on my computer and was pleasantly surprised to receive another "thank you" email for my visit. It sounds crazy, especially coming from…read moreme, the person who's so deeply terrified of doctors that it took a full 8 years to elapse before it seemed reasonable to schedule a routine checkup. So, here am I, in need of blood work and dreading the date like it was my own funeral. While it did take 30 minutes for me to be seen, I was so utterly paralyzed with fear that I could have probably sat for half a day without noticing. I warned my phlebotomist right away that I wasn't going to be an easy case, but she was wholly unperturbed. Down the hall we went, to a room with a reclining chair to catch me in case I should faint, although I'm relieved to report that it was ultimately unnecessary. It took only one jab, and it didn't even bruise, days later- A small miracle since my skin is whiter than a sheet of computer paper. The technician even went out to reassure my escort that I was taking so long because I had died, but because I was using the bathroom afterwards. I deeply regret not getting her name; I'm so grateful for her skill and geniune kindness.

I explained to another tech I had checked in by phone from home in time- that I added myself to the waitlist after the cut off because the screen did not have my name. Other patients and I are blown away they would not just take me and make a one time exception- and instead they kept pushing back, "called a supervisor" and said I had to wait. Horrible customer service- a smart place would have just helped me considering my long time history. I get not wanting people to abuse the system, this was a unique situation. I will be going to the Black Rock location (with much higher ratings) moving forward!

    My doctor ordered an MRI over a month ago and when I didn't hear from them in a few days, I called…read morethem to check on the referral. Which they said they had and would call me back for an appointment. 10 days later I called again and they said they had the referral but were too busy to submit it to my insurance and it would be done "eventually" 2 weeks after the referral was sent I called my insurance company, who told me they don't have anything for an MRI authorization! I in fact did not receive a text message. I arrived to my appointment at 845 Am in the Trumbull location coming from West haven just for them to act like I was aware that I was 15 minutes late. I walked up to the window and told them my name and the two receptionists started talking to each-other saying " you should call". The other receptionist called, got off the phone and asked me if I wanted to reschedule. None of which did she tell me I was late to my appointment or did I receive a call that I was late for my appointment. Very unprofessional and for someone in the healthcare field, absolutely no patient empathy what so ever which is sad considering your dealing with people all day. I have never been this upset from an appointment ever.
