Do not recommend this office. I showed up for my 2nd appt for pre-cancerous cell removal and the office was closed; did not receive a call to let me know in advance. For rescheduled appt, I sat in the treatment room for over an hour and when I asked how much longer it would be, was told it would still be awhile so I rescheduled. During my 1st appt, I had made a future appt to have moles removed and was asked for a $100 deposit. After the poor experiences at this office, I decided not to have the moles removed here, canceled my appt over a month in advance and asked for my $100 deposit refunded. I was told by the front desk it would take a couple weeks. Four weeks later during my last appt, Dr. Adams personally said I would have the refund in 2 weeks. It has now been over 3 months and each time I call, I'm either told I'll get a call back or I'm put directly to VM. So far no callback. I'm an elderly person and feel they are taking advantage of me and won't give me my money back. read more

I was referred to Dr. Adams by my PCP. I was concerned why I was seeing a dermatologist for possible skin cancer. Well, the concern proved true. Dr. Adams diagnosed a melanoma cancer, which was treated and cured. I still need periodic examinations, for which I am now very grateful. read more

Terrible experience, rude staff and her is not much better. Waited an hour post appointment for her only to be told that she was busy an hour later. Zero respect for patients time and unprofessional. But if patients are late, they cancel on you. This was my first appointment by the way. Left and found a better Dr. this was a waste of my time. read more

I had a full skin exam today and Dr. Adams was prompt and thorough as usual. She listened to my concerns and dealt with each item in turn. I have been so lucky in the past that she has isolated tiny melanoma and squamous cells before they became huge problems. Five stars! read more

I was called yesterday by a member of Dr Adams' staff. They were unable to reach me, so left a voicemail. I was then contacted by the family member who I had listed as an emergency contact that Dr Adams was trying to get a hold of me. When I inquired why, my family member didn't know. I called Dr Adams' office back at the number provided in my voicemail and asked what the issue was. I was told that they were trying to get a hold of me to confirm an appt for 3/3. I was then told that I scheduled the appt last year, which I never did. I then asked her why she called my emergency contact since this was not an emergency, and was told "Because we were trying to get a hold of you and could not." An appt confirmation does NOT constitute an emergency, and left my family member and me alarmed. Then when i told her that I never made an appt and asked who made the appt, the staff member was very rude and said that the person who made the appt belong to my phone number. So I repeated that I'd never made an appt. I then asked her who she worked for and if I could speak with a manager and she responded "I don't know have time for your questions." and hung up. It was the most bizarre interaction I've ever had with a medical office EVER. I would like Dr Adams' to please contact me. Thank you. read more

I am giving a 1 star because she seemed nice. She asked me to call back in 2 weeks if the medication she prescribed does not work. The medication didn't work and so I called her office several times (over 30x) but no one answered. So I show up at the office and I was told they will call me back. I received a call from a nurse and surprisingly, they didn't even know what medication they prescribed me so I had to tell them. The nurse told me she will call back the next day but no call till now and its been 2 months already. They only care about your money and don't care anymore once you leave the office. read more

My appointment was scheduled for 2:30 PM, but I was instructed to arrive at 2:15 PM to fill out paperwork. When I arrived at 2:10 PM, there were 4 patients ahead of me. The receptionist told me I would not be seen until 3:30 PM at the earliest, so I walked out. I understand that Dr. Adams doesn't know exactly how long each appointment will last, but forcing patients to wait for more than 1 hour to be seen is not reasonable. This doctor's scheduling policies clearly reflect a desire to maximize profit without taking into account the value of her patients' time. read more

Over scheduled patients. Had to wait too long before seeing a doctor. Ended up leaving since it was over an hour before the doctor would see me. Seemed to lack the respect of other people's time. I cancelled and rescheduled with another doctor. read more

I do not put any blame on Dr. Adams, I think my issue is more with the staff. Originally requested an appointment online. Got a call back a couple of days later and got an appointment on the day I requested. However, I had to call back and reschedule so I could go on my day off. I confirmed with the gentleman twice before hanging up that my appointment was for that Monday at 7:30am. I showed up at 7:15am that day. Then was told I was not on the schedule or in their systems, that I would need to leave and that someone would call to reschedule me. I then got a call later that afternoon to confirm an appointment for tomorrow.....I called and left message stating that this was wrong and I would not be showing up. No one ever called me back. And one one ever called to reschedule me. I assume the gentleman who rescheduled my original appointment was looking at Tuesday instead of Monday when he scheduled me. So, I won't be going back to Dr. Adams. She seemed nice and I heard good feedback about her from a friend, but sadly, she needs better staff to handle her business. read more

Dr Adams is thorough but the wait time is just too long. I appreciate that she takes time with her patients; however she should space appointments out better. Additionally she now has a charge for missed appointments. I find it ironic that there can be a charge for a missed appointment but no consideration for being seen within 30 to 60 minutes of your appointment time. This is what had me leave her practice. Also the wait area is very small and crowds quickly. Great doctor but the office management logistics need improvement. read more

Dr. Adams is nice and knowledgeable but just try getting an appointment or getting someone to answer the phone. It won't happen. Good luck getting an appointment! And if you leave a message no one ever calls you back - I've left messages online, with a person, and on voicemail. There just isn't any response. I went to Dr Adams to get treated for my unsightly keratosis and scalp issues. She has a beautiful clean office. She was so patient with me when providing the service. After a few days since the treatment my skin is healing up beautifully. I will definitely go back to her in a few months to get rid of more of my spots. read more

This is a heads up for anybody who might be using the services of Dr MELANIE ADAMS, MD, a Dermatologist located at 10700 Charter Drive Suite 320, Columbia, MD 21044. I had an appointment today 5/10/19 scheduled for 11:00am, which I arrived promptly for. Upon arrival I was told that the doctor could not service me because I had an outstanding balance. My appointment had been cancelled without my knowledge and I was NOT notified prior to my arrival. That was the beginning of the first sign of communication breakdown with this office. I was then told that my balance of $76 had been forwarded to a third party collection agency and though it had not reached them, it was on its way. I asked to speak with the doctor about this matter via the receptionist, who appeared to be incompetent. He continually left me at the front desk to confer with the doctor, which resulted in no resolution. The doctor was not willing to see me or come out to speak to me in reference to the matter. I was told that she does not deal with finance issues. I offered to pay for the balance and was told that they did not want to accept my money and would have to resolve the issue with the insurance company. I then decided to call my insurance company myself when getting back to my car to understand the big picture and was informed that my bill had already been paid and that my account showed current and in good standing. I was very confused because I had been told on numerous occasions that they never received the $76 and that they could not help me until that had been paid, but the insurance company rep was looking at the paid invoice while I was speaking to her on the phone. I then went back to the doctor's office and had my insurance company representative speak directly with the receptionist to confirm that the bill had been paid. Dr Melanie Adams never apologized after all was said and done. Avoid this doctor!!. My first appointment in February was a tell tale sign.... read more

It was difficult to make an appointment due to being put on hold and no call back after leaving a message. Waited for an hour before Dr. Adams came in to see me and she never acknowledged my wait time. She did a thorough full body exam but forgot to give me a prescription for a rash on my hand. When I asked about another procedure to remove a skin tag, she led me to believe she'd be back in to do it but sent in the nurse who had a paper asking me to sign it with no explanation. After reading it, I learned I was supposed to pay to have the procedure. That would be fine but it was handled poorly by Dr. Adams. read more

As a survivor I take my health and my health appointments extremely serious. Dr. Adam's office apparently scheduled an appointment with me on January 3rd. Interesting they didn't even send one friendly reminder to my email address they have on record. Yesterday, as I'm thinking of getting refills and only going to the pharmacy once, I called so the doctor could order a refill. They then tell me I have to schedule an appointment. OK it was an inconvenience because of my packed schedule, but we managed to fit it in. Then I get a call from her office and the assistant said that she would not see me until I paid her $50 for the appointment I had missed (and I was not notified I had). I went on to explain that there was a misunderstanding only to find a very unfriendly and unflexible receptionist. They wanted to "HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE" for an appointment I didn't know I had. To make things worst, they had to change receptionist because of their poor scheduling in that office. So this was new personnel who didn't even know what had happened back in January. Yet no one gave me the benefit of the doubt. I take my health, my time, others' health and others time very seriously. It is completely out of my character to intentionally miss an appointment. But guess what, if I didn't know about it, I was likely to miss it. As a first time patient I would have expected some level of consideration - I got none. Bottom line, as good as I thought she was on my first appointment with her, I'm not giving Dr. Adams $50 for her clerical mistake. It's a matter of principle. read more

I went to Dr. Adams today with my husband for a rash on his arms. She and her staff are AWESOME!! Very professional and a wonderful bedside manor. Everything was explained to us so that we knew exactly what was going on and she even came up with a plan of action to ensure the problem completely goes away. I felt very comfortable asking her questions eventhough it was my husband's appointment and not mine! Lol! She has another doctor at her practice. His name escapes me right now (so sorry!), but he has a great smile and took his time to talk with us during the intake process!! The receptionist and the person who checks you out (Judy, I believe) were both super nice as well. You just don't know how good it felt to walk in and feel welcomed! So many doctor's offices lack that. The office itself is immaculate. Very clean and up to date. Waiting room is a bit small but one gets over that very quickly because of the quality of service. Again, Dr. Adams is great and really knows her stuff! I think I'll be switching my dermatologist soon! read more
