Just over a year ago, I had breast reduction surgery. Although the staff are very pleasant and professional, the outcome of my surgery is very disappointing. Both of my breasts are uncomfortable and the scar beneath one breast is really pretty horrible. Additionally, my nipples face different directions, are shaped differently and one isn't centered. They've both lost almost all sensitivity. I can't find a bra that fits. Certainly not the results I was hoping for. read more

Dr. Cohen performed a breast augmentation on me when I was in my late 20's. It was a single, care-free, stage of life. Fast forward to 45 - professional career, motherhood, exercise habits - my priorities had changed. As had my perception of the ideal body. Dr McMillian was my breast augmentation surgeon and I certainly recommend her to others! She was friendly and easy to talk to, but she was also very straightforward about the procedure and all risks. Their payment system is reasonable but be sure to keep your receipts, they forgot a payment I made and wanted to charge me twice for anesthesia fees. I am very happy with the results of my surgical procedure and the entire experience with Dr.Cohen and his staff at Belcara health. My midsection (skin and muscles) had been absolutely wrecked after 3 pregnancies with big babies. I had a tummy tuck performed by Dr. Cohen and I am thrilled with my results. DO NOT GO TO BELCARA HEATH!!!! Going to Belcara Health has been a terrible experience. They made so many promises and showed me pictures of how much better I would look after my surgery. I had lipo, a tummy tuck, a lower face lift and fat injections. I spent 25k and then had to have the entire surgery redone a year later which cost an extra 5k. All in all I spent 30K at this place and I still need more surgery! My tummy tuck and lipo was TERRIBLE!! I went back for another consultation and was quoted a price of 10K more to have the lipo that should have been done the first two times!!! DO NOT GO TO THESE DOCTORS!!! I had surgery in November and since My incision site keloided. At my last f/u appointment Dr Vella stated that he could fix it and someone would call me to schedule. This happened right before COVID but nonetheless no one from the office has contacted me since. Don't go here if you have skin cancer or think you do. Go to Hopkins or the University of Maryland. I went with a small spot on my lip that turned out to be squamous cell carcinoma. It took them 2 weeks to call me back with the pathology report, but when I requested the report I could see that the lab had returned it to them 2 days after the biopsy was taken - so it sat for 10 days. The follow up treatment suggested was a "scrap and burn" procedure. I decided to seek a second opinion at Hopkins and am glad I did as my dermatologist there recommended a Mohs procedure because it has a higher cure rate (99%) and creates less scarring. Additionally, my doctor at Hopkins explained to me that since the cancer was on my lip, it has a higher probability of metastasizing to the lymph nodes of the neck so you definitely want to make sure you get it all. read more

This place has A+ surgeons, however they need to do some cutting on their customer service staff. Nurses had trouble getting prescriptions to me; and patient coordinator ignores emails and manager screens calls and does not return. This review is more so for the office staff, than the doctors. I've been seen there a handful of times over the years. Caroline Harvey and her assistant, Mark, are always helpful, friendly, and professional. However, I've had 3 separate experiences with Jocelyn at the front desk so far this year and each one has been negative. Jocelyn is snarky, rude, unprofessional, and surely does not belong in the customer service industry. Having Jocelyn as one of the first employees that you encounter upon entering and exiting the facility is a detriment to your business. I called Angel 2 weeks ago to give her specific details and feedback regarding Jocelyn. Emily informed me that she was working from home that day, so I left a voicemail with my information for a call back. I never received a call from Angel, which is why I'm now leaving this review on a public forum. read more

My first consultation with Dr. Vela went great. I was very much impressed with his before and after photos of WL patients surgeries. Immediately after surgery red flags were present. After surgery Dr. Vela did not see me while in recovery to ask how I was feeling and to let me know of the surgery's outcome. When realizing this, I felt abandoned. The nurse that was left to care for me was nice but, briskly wanted me to be awaken and recovered. I'm assuming because it was a Friday evening and she was ready to start her weekend. Communication with Sara (his nurse assistant) was awesome through the Klara app. She was very attentive to my questions and needs. I would send pictures of concerning wounds. Thereafter, things were looking worse where my drains were inserted, antibiotics were taken daily. The opening was progressively widening and had yellow-whitish draining and liquified drainage coming from the wound. It looked horrific! I was told (summing it up) it was normal, that this does happens with drains and that they were familiar with these happenings. I did come in weekly for follow up appointments. Finally, the wound was large enough that the drain was literally hanging out of the wound. I told Sara I was upset and she had me immediately coming in the following day after viewing pics. My office visit with Dr. Vela was to remove the drain and sutured the wound. From that point on, no questions were asked about my concerns and well being. He sent me on my way! Which again left me feeling abandoned and rushed. Prior to leaving my appointment Sara instructed me on how to keep my wound free from infection. However, I contacted Sara to explain that the wound was opening again and the drainage coming from the area was non stop. She stated that Dr. Vela wanted me to come back in to place another drain. This same particular day my body was weakened and I went to AAMC. That evening visit turned into me being admitted for a week in the hospital. I needed IV antibiotics, a blood transfusion, CT scans, multiple blood test, pneumonia in my left lung, and unfortunately all due to the wound being infected. So, suturing the wound was not a brilliant idea. Yet, luckily the infection made its way protruding through the wound which signaled something more was needed. I received wound care while hospitalized. When I was discharged, I received instructions that I would need to have a nurse come out to treat my wounds 2x a week and also follow up with the plastic surgeon on AAMC campus. I requested this plastic surgeon because I was fearful that Dr.Vela was not in my health's best interest and I did not trust him any longer. Four days later I spoke with Sara, she was concerned of my well being. Well of course, I was hospitalized at this point. After being discharged, I heard from Sara once more. She called for Dr. Vela wanting to know if it was ok for him to call sometime that day. I told her yes. I wanted to express to him how I felt about this whole ordeal. Here it is a month later and I never heard from Dr. Vela which came as no surprise to me. I was angry and regretful every day that I had this surgery . I entrusted Dr. Vela to care for me as he was so passionate (appearing to be in consultations) and confident in his 20 plus years of experience performing surgeries. He did stress that I may not be happy with my results and that patients can be critical of their results. These comments should have been alarming to my considerations of finalizing the decision to choose Dr. Vela to perform my tummy tuck, body lift & fat transfer to buttocks. I thank God for AAMC and their genuine staff that actually treated me with respect, actually considered my livelihood, and the urgency of care that I needed before my life may have turned out for the worse if I had waited for the next appointment or contemplating on seeking extended medical attention. At this time I am starting to healing, seeing my home nurse 2x a week for wound care and caring for my scars as directed by the plastic surgeon at AAMC. As for my results from the surgery, it is disheartening. Fast forward after Belcara Health declined my request of compensation due to how I was treated, dissatisfaction's and this distressing journey after surgery. The Performance and Operations Manager Angel suggested to see Dr. Cohen. That was also a waste of my time because he more so specializes in breast procedures. I felt my hands were tied because I invested $19,000. I went to a pre-op appointment and I requested to see Dr. Vela and he refused to see me. I was furious but, I realized after all that I had went through it was a true blessing in disguise. read more

Other than Kierston who was honest this is by far the most disorganized practice I have ever encountered. $40 in UBER fees to arrive for an appointment scheduled with Dr Robertson who met with me for less 5 minutes to inform me he was not the person I should see but rather Kierston. I waited another 1/2 hour to see her. The "patient portal" they insisted I fill out prior to the visit did not work on line the first time it was sent. Wasted time. When it did work the (following day) it was lengthy and invasive. This office has all my personal information. I have no intention of EVER returning. I highly recommend Dr. Mostovych. She is very thorough in making sure all of your questions are answered. Highly knowledgable, professional, and personable. She is efficient, but unlike many practitioners, I do not feel as though she is rushing to get to next patient. I'd consider her to be gold standard in bedside manner. I also really appreciate that on both of my visits to this office, the nursing staff was familiar with my needs, even before speaking with me. When I visited for a follow-up, the nurse walking me to the exam room said "I saw the photos you sent last week, let's take a look..." rather than reading off of a file. It seems that they know and truly care what's going on with you. I would definitely return to this practice and Dr. Mostovych for any future needs. read more

All in all I would not recommend. A friend had gotten a breast enhancement done there and had great results so I went to the doctor she went to. I didn't find out until my consultation that he specialized only in breast enhancement but was also certified in other area too such as tummy tuck (which is what I wanted). This should have been a red flag but he did such a great job on my friend and had been voted one of the best so I decided to trust him. After my first surgery, I ended up with an infection and DID notify the nurse of this right away with photos and I had to come in multiple time for them to try to figure out what was going on until finally they ordered me to go get an ultrasound which I had to pay for. It ended up being a hematoma. So all that healed and was fine except for the belly button scar, the skin flap or "dog tag" as they called it and the deformed scar from the infection that left a large hole in my skin for weeks that I had to suture myself the entire time. I had to go back into surgery under anesthesia and had to pay to have them fix all that and then I had to go back in for a visible fat pocket that stuck out on the upper part of my stomach. He suctioned that out (or thought he did) but it's still there. Oh, I almost forgot. When I had to come in for the "scar revision" they called me and asked me to come in earlier and I said I couldn't so she said ok. Then called me back a few minutes later to say if I didn't they would have to cancel so I left work early to go and they still had me wait and hour to be seen....what was the point of that? Also, after my final surgery they called to tell me my follow up appointment was cancelled and didn't even bother trying to reschedule me. I never bothered going back after that. Lastly, I came in for filler for my jawline once and was talked into getting it into my cheeks instead and ended up paying double what I would have paid if I stuck to what I wanted originally but of course I thought they knew best. I'm not big on reviews or surveys but it's been 8 years since I last saw Dr. Ciro Martins and I'm still raving about how he has changed my life. I was cursed with severe cystic acne from age 16 to 21. When I moved to Baltimore at 21, I had decided it was time to make a change and made an appointment. He explained his recommendations clearly and answered all my questions. I ended up getting on accutane to clear up my acne and two rounds of profractional laser treatments for the scarring. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to continue after a sever reaction to the supplements, but it was impossible to get a refund. They offered other services, but I wasn't happy about that because what happened was out of my control. I've had many bad experiences here, a botched tummy tuck, coolsculpting with zero results, etc. If you don't confirm your appointment the day before they will cancel it without telling you. I had a consult with a surgeon for one procedure and he told me I needed two additional procedures. I got a second opinion in Mt Airy and ended up having the original procedure there (the other two were not needed). I spoke to the manager recently about the numerous bad experiences I'd had and she 1. conducted her own "investigation" and 2. called me back and argued with me about what she perceived REALLY happened based on her conversations with those involved as well as her review of my file. She needs customer service training - she's no angel. The injector is the star at this place. She's friendly, professional and does a great job. However, she doesn't know or practice or suggest new procedures. I'm seeing an injector now who is an injector trainer, and she has pointed out a few things that were done incorrectly. Belecara is overpriced and a big disappointment. I wish I hadn't been a faithful client and continued to give this place chance after chance. read more

After seeing several doctors in the Baltimore area (and spending thousands on useless medications), Caroline in Dermatology was the only person who successfully treated my hormonal acne. Once my skin cleared, she treated my skin with a series of peels to deal with the hyperpigmentation. Had Mommy make-over in 2011. Left with an uneven scar on my tummy that's a mile wide. (Why?) There is a small skin flap over the left side. (How can you miss this?) Belly button looks good though. (Thx...I guess) My breast lift needed revision as the left implant was stuck near my armpit. I had to get an MRI first & pay for the anesthesia. I do not feel enough skin was removed but they do look natural, I was just deflated and needed a boost. I have the anchor scar and the scar under the breast goes up towards my armpit & another down towards my upper rib. (Why?) My scars around the areola & on the breast healed great. So in my opinion expect longs incisions....I did not feel from the results that I received any latest or greatest treatments & the results show. My left breast implant is still sitting odd & I intend to get another revision. I paid over 15K for these results....None of my friends are happy & one literally just had a pair of implants popped in. Oh and Tummy Tuck friends...do your research! Swell Hell is real & lasted 6 months in my thighs until I went on cleansing fruit diet. A friend of mine had been to Dr. Cohen for breast augmentation and highly recommended him so I decided to set up a consult and go from there. I am SO grateful she recommended him because afterwards there was no hesitation in my mind that I wanted my surgery performed by him. He was very easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, and made me feel at ease about everything. I have somewhat of a small frame and was a little nervous about looking top heavy with breasts, as i've never had them before and wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew with Dr. Cohen's experience and expertise at performing very natural looking proportionate breasts, that I was in excellent hands and had nothing to worry about. After my surgery he discussed with me what size he ended up going with and why. It really is the perfect size for my frame and I'm so pleased with the results! Went there in the end of July for help with a skin disorder. I have gone to other Medispa or Dermatologists previously, and I was aware of what I should ask for and expect as far as treatment, costs, and prepaying. I was also aware of what works to achieve the desired results. Part of the treatment includes a product regiment. I was sold the products quickly and told to try that first, with out treatment I requested . Consultant advised me to return in six weeks to check the results. No before pictures, how will we know if the $600 in products was successful? The consultant spent more time discussing a diet with me. I also received at least 3 follow-up phone calls regarding the diet, but not a word about my skin care concerns. Luckily I found a place to correct my skin concerns and I also signed up for the diet! All I can say about the entire situation is that was a ton of missed opportunities. The office is beautiful, very convenient, and lots of parking. read more

I told her she can use the 3 sessions that I had purchased and do it in one session and do my whole back and I will not use my third session and let it go. she said she cant do it. I went to Dr. Patrick Byrne for a rhinoplasty about 2 years ago. My experience was less than stellar. The result of the rhinoplasty was NOT what I had asked for, nor was the result anywhere close to what we had discussed. When I was getting my cast removed, the nurses were incredibly ill-informed. They took the bandages off my nose but did not take the struts from inside of my nose out. When I tried to tell them that I had things still STUCK UP MY NOSE, they tried to tell me that I did not and that they took everything off. Uh, I can literally feel plastic inside my nostrils, don't tell me I'm wrong. They then left for 45 minutes, leaving me sitting in the room while they "investigated" my files. A simple look up my nose would have shown them the plastics. They then could not find a lamp to properly illuminate my face, so I had to use my own phone's flashlight app while they struggled to pull plastic out from my nostrils. The results were disastrous. They stole a long, pointed nose from me and instead gave me a short, pig's nose. All I asked for was some tip refinement, which Dr Byrne assured me he could do. What I got was an entirely new, bulbous nose. I tried to let the doctor know, and he simply laughed in my face and told me that I look exactly the same, even when I presented him with pictures that show a CLEAR difference. I asked him what procedure he did, and he was unable to tell me. When I tried to schedule a follow-up appointment, the receptionist dodged my calls and continuously hung up on me. It seems like Belecara is just looking to steal your money. I was over-billed by insurance. After paying off the initial billing amount, I got another bill for $500 months later. In my opinion, Dr Patrick Byrne is an absolute fraud. I wonder if he was even the surgeon who operated on my face, or if he left it to some neophyte assistant. There is a sign in their office that says "good plastic surgery is plastic surgery that no one notices" This is not good plastic surgery, this is absolute face-rape. AVOID THIS PRACTICE. read more

Everyone was so kind and courteous. The office and surgical center are immaculate. The day of the surgery Debbie (my pre and post surgical nurse), the OR room nurse( who's name I cannot remember) were so kind and really made me feel at ease. The anesthesiologist was great, no complications when I woke up. Dr Cohen took the time to chat with me before the surgery and introduce himself to my husband. I came in on September 16, 2020 to meet with Dr. Meltzer about a spot on my forehead that had caught my attention and been healing on and off for 6-8 months. He took a quick peak and said it's a scab put some Neosporin on it and come back if it still doesn't go away. Candidly I was so surprised at how quickly he simply dismissed my concerns and his overall demeanor seemed to be that he didn't have time for me. I left feeling as if it was a total waste of time and I was not a priority. Fast forward to today- I just received confirmation that indeed my concern was legitimate and I do currently have Basal Cell Carcinoma. I have to be honest after re-reading Dr. Meltzer's profile I'm flabbergasted at the experience I had and can't believe a Dr. with such a resume can so painfully misdiagnose what would seem to be an easy diagnosis. The waste of time and money I spent for a 5 min. brush off appointment doesn't sit well with me. My wife has been going to Belcara for years and she will no longer be a patient. In Jan of 2016, I had a mole removed by Dr. Martins. I got an incredible ugly scar from the procedure. I was never told this was a risk that the scar would be uglier and bigger than my mole. At the time, they scheduled me for a full-body skin check for the following year during that appt. A year later, I didn't want to go because I preferred to see someone else for my annual mole check. When the receptionist called me to confirm my visit, I told her that I didn't want to go in for the visit and that I had an ugly scar from my first procedure. She told me to just come in and have Dr. Martins look at it. So I did and he was in the room for less than 5 min. They billed my insurance $185 for him to look at it, he did nothing except advise me for another procedure of injecting a steroid. I politely refused and left. Again, they billed my insurance company for an office visit, he was literally in there for less than 5 min, more like 2 min. I didn't feel this was right. When my bill came out for my portion, which was less than $60, I wasn't feeling very good about this because I feel like they tricked me into seeing him (maybe just to bill me and my insurance again) so I complained to the number on the bill. I told the billing lady and she said not to worry about it and I didn't have to pay for it. Well, several months later, I get an email saying my bill is about to go to collections. I called and spoke to Sheri Cohen, practice manager and now I found out reading other bad reviews, she's also Dr. Cohen's wife. She was extremely argumentative and hostile. I told her that I would just pay this bill so the nightmare would end...She was extremely, extremely rude and basically said that I went in for the Dr. Martins office visit, that was factual. So, I'm just going to pay this bill just to have this relationship and nightmare finally end!! I'm now living with this horrible ugly scar and now so upset after talking to such a rude practice manager! Geez, she was so rude and horrible for just $60...so now I'm happy to pay it just to let this nightmare with Belcara Health end. I was a patient of Dr. Cohen's for a breast augmentation surgery about 3 years ago and am absolutely thrilled with the results! He's very conservative when it comes to sizing so I had no fear in going "too big". He always seems to be in a rush when it comes to meeting with patients face-to-face, however, I wanted results, not bedside manner, and he definitely delivered.
