Both visits I had were excellent. They have a proper Irish draft list plus some others, and they pour a nice pint. I had bangers and mash my first night and the sausage was some of the best I've had. There was a good mound of mash and the gravy was dark and rich. I appreciated the onions added on too. Night two I got shepherd's pie and was quite happy. Rich sauce and mildly charred mash on top made for a fine meal. I'd gladly order the sausages again and would love to come back for the fish and chips. Worth noting: the service is excellent. Anne Marie is a saint dealing with...err...serving various personalities. Plus there was World Cup all over the TVs. The vibe is excellent Irish pub. I really hope we can go back again. She Said: I was happy that He agreed (happily agreed) to return to The Celtic House because I would have been bummed to miss out. I had the chicken pot pie which is darn near impossible for me to resist. Outside of my own and my dear Aunt Peggy's, this was some of the best pot pie I've had. The gravy was the right thickness, the chicken wasn't over cooked (which is hard to pull off in this format), and the puff pastry on top was light and fluffy but with enough oomph to it to hold up to the gravy. The only thing I'd change was more veggies in the dish, but that's my personal preference. As he noted, the service was terrific and I appreciated the aplomb with which our bartender managed her patrons. Potty Points: No trip to the potty for me on this visit!

We had a great time here for a number of reasons - all the staff were from Philly, which I could hear right away. It seemed many of the patrons were too based on sports logos and accents. The bartender was super welcoming and attentive so we ordered some beers. They also have a check-in offer of a free drink, so be sure to use that if you come in. I had a local DC beer and of course had to have one Yuengling on draft, a favorite beer growing up. It was a welcoming and happy place. I'm sure the bar food is good, we weren't hungry on our visit. If you're in DC and need an Irish style pub to have a drink or watch a game, this is a convenient one near Dupont Circle.

Come for the Guinness, stay for the wings…read more We stopped in late night for some beers and snacks. Service was fast and friendly. We got an order of wings and some shepherd's pie. The wings were top notch! We just got the standard buffalo wings and they were just the right size, well cooked and very saucey. The sauce is great because it's a bit of a unique twist on buffalo. It's nice when every place does not have the same mix of Red Hot and Butter (this was not). So, wings fit the bill. Very salty and spicy if I recall (it was late) and want to come back again soon. My friends enjoyed the shepherd's pie, but it wasn't the best I've had. The beef was kind of mild and the potatoes were not crisped on the top. However, a solid home made offering that you can season as you like and I suppose you can order it "crispy" to make sure it comes out that way. Yeah, I'd order it again.

I made a last minute change to meet a friend here, but much to my surprise... they had a PS5 and Tekken booted up at the bar. I am by zero means a Tekken player. Yes, I'm a huge gamer, but I'm terrible at Tekken. But the mere concept of being able to watch and play it at a bar is incredible. That aside, they got a bunch of board games like Trouble, Uno, Trivial Pursuit... the classics man! Oh right, the bar part. Their drinks are great. The staff are great. The specials are great. And they give you popcorn! And they have a whole little table with all the popcorn fixings if you don't want to eat it plain. You can literally bring in food from anywhere on top of that. I'm not sure if it's a Sunday thing, but the place really doesn't get too busy. It's quite a vibe. If you've never been and you're in the Logan Circle area, go.

When my salmon sandwich arrived, I found multiple bones in the fish. I'm incredibly grateful I noticed them before swallowing, because they could have caused a serious injury. This is something that should never make it to a customer's plate. The service only made matters worse. Our waitress rarely checked on our table, and we had to wave her down several times just to get basic assistance. She spent much of her time on her phone, never refilled our water, and seemed completely uninterested in helping us. What was especially upsetting was that we were the only people of color in the restaurant, and it genuinely felt like we were treated differently from other customers. I can't say for certain what the reason was, but the lack of attention, poor service, and the way we were treated left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. I came in looking forward to a great meal based on the recommendations I had heard, but I left extremely disappointed. Between the dangerous food preparation and the poor service, I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone.
