Pop Wed Co is the best! Maggie is a phenomenal photographer and Stephen is a great officiant. We loved working with them, and they made our tiny wedding dreams come true. We had SO MUCH FUN on our wedding day, thanks to them, and experienced zero stress. They're a blast to work with, and everyone who's seen our pictures and heard about our "pop-up wedding" has been impressed and enthralled with the whole concept. I'm so glad I read about it, because it really is an innovative compromise between the big traditional wedding and the courthouse elopement. We knew that neither of us wanted the former, but I also knew that aesthetics are important enough to me that I wouldn't have been totally happy with the latter either. This review is going to be hard because I don't know how to put into words how AMAZING my experience with Pop! Wed Co. was last month. My husband and I got married by Steven at the Blue Jacket Brewery in DC in May 24, 2019. Before planning our wedding with Pop! Wed, we considered having a big wedding with our family and friends in our home state, WV, but the idea of spending more than $5,000 for a wedding made us sick. After sharing the idea with our close friends and family, we decided Pop! Wed was the BEST decision. Well 6 months later, I'm proud I made the decision to book our wedding with Pop! WED. Maggie and Steven were so accommodating to our needs and answered every question and concern I had. I was not disappointed with our experience and I had to do it again I would definitely keep Pop! Wed as my number one choice. Barbara, our photographer, was amazing and made me feel comfortable in front of the camera which isn't an easy task. Steven was our officiant for our Pi Day wedding hosted at &Pizza (Columbia Heights location) and was generous and accommodating. He took the time to ensure we knew when, where and how to get the certified copy of a marriage certificate. He also ensured we were able to include little touches like a preferred poem and even came up with a way to include my parents bible verses. You can tell Steven knows just what to do when it comes to keeping a couple calm in an emotionally stressful situation. The ceremony was short, sweet and very meaningful. Rachel did a remarkable job of photographing our special day. She was stealthy good, my husband I both commented "when did she get that shot"? We had a great experience with Pop! Wed Co. for our March nuptials. Maggie was super responsive with email communication and helping us sort through the details. We really appreciated that they go to the courthouse and get the marriage license for you as part of the package. Steven was so helpful and friendly on our wedding day. Well, for starters, I got lost on the way to the photoshoot. Rather than responding with impatience, Maggie worked with my poor directional abilities until we met up. She is willing to direct the photography to utilize the environs, but she will also allow the subject to pick specific photos if they come to the shoot with an idea of what they'd like to have taken. Her manner is friendly but professional, and she is willing to listen to her subject with any concerns or thoughts they have about the photographs. Her youth is a boon rather than a bane, as she is energetic and open to shoot more than just the standard 2/3 scenic arrangement. As an amateur photographer myself, I can safely say that she controls her DSLR very well, and has a natural eye for angles and settings to complement the subject. My photos came out beautifully(!), in fact I had difficulty choosing from the range of photos she supplied me with. I also loved that she wasn't afraid to snap a volley of candids, and several of these were surprisingly good. Overall, her photography is excellent (and her website speaks for itself). I could not have been more comfortable with Maggie, and it was also a fun photoshoot with humor and positive reinforcement throughout. I highly recommend her. read more

Maggie was great. She was professional and fun to work with. The Bon Aire Park location was perfect for my family - including my two kids. Maggie was so easy going and got great pictures of them playing on the playground. With kids, the spontaneous pictures are always the best (it is so rare to get everyone to look and smile at the camera for posed shoots.) She was so great at taking those spontaneous pictures. Maggie is an awesome photographer. Her ability to spot a good photo coupled with her magnanimous personality makes for awesome pictures where you are relaxed and looking your best. We contacted Maggie to shoot our wedding and she got back to us right away. We were having a small wedding, but still wanted a professional photographer to capture the event. After talking to Maggie via email and Skype we felt she understood what we wanted and her prices were very reasonable compared to other photographers in the area. We ended up hiring her for 2 hours, which gave us ample time to shoot the ceremony, group photos and a bunch with just my wife and me. She arrived 15 minutes early for our wedding shoot. Her upbeat personality helped relax my wife and me since neither of us normally likes having our picture taken. Her encouragement and ideas were fun, creative and resulted in great photos. She walked with us to the wedding site taking photos at interesting spots along the way; she has a great eye for light, and captured some amazing pictures I would never have considered. During the ceremony she asked if we'd prefer her to shoot from one spot or dart around capturing different angles. We told her to do what she felt would look best and were really pleased with the results. Her turn around time was really quick. She sorted, filtered and sent us a link to our photos within 24 hours. I love that she lets you to download the digital negatives in addition to buying prints. Maggie was great to work with; I hope we have another reason to hire her again soon. read more

My fiance and I asked Maggie to take our engagement pictures. Since we were kind of pressed for time, we had to take our photos in the middle of February. It was a freezing cold day, and without Maggie's awesomeness and energy, I don't think we could have made it! Throughout the one hour photo session in the hidden streets of Old Town Alexandria (a lovely location suggested by Maggie), she was professional and fun, which in turn made us feel so relaxed and natural in front of the camera. Our photos turned out to be great -- we received so many compliments! I also loved how she was so prompt with her work -- she got the digital negatives to us in less than a week time. Also, I later realized that her prices were very reasonable compared to other photographers in town. I can't say enough good things about Maggie. My brother and now sister-in-law chose her as their wedding photographer and, having had some experience working with photogs, I was happy to help coordinate with her. It was a small Russian Orthodox ceremony with lots of unique traditions. She captured the emotion of the day like only a true professional could. Maggie Winters is an amazingly talented photographer. We were looking for a creative wedding photographer who was also easy going and flexible. Maggie fit the bill perfectly. The wonderful thing about Maggie Winters Photography is that you actually get two photographers for the price of one! Maggie and her partner arrived earlier than the agreed upon time for our ceremony, always a plus. They both were constantly taking photos, making sure that they captured the entire event. Our pictures turned out even better than we'd expected. The quality of both the composition and the colors were stunning! Everyone who sees them comments on how gorgeous they are. Maggie is fast too! She had the photos available for us to view online the next day! This is faster than anyone I've heard of in the business. We were so excited to be able to see the photos so quickly. Maggie has a great sense of humor and is great at putting you at ease when you're feeling a bit nervous. I got married through Pop! Wed Co and had the most perfect experience. I came into the wedding field totally confused about what to do and even what I wanted. Staff guided me through every single thing and even gained my trust by referring me to other options outside their business that might have been more what we wanted. Well, it turns out we wanted them, and we had such an amazing experience. They were extremely helpful, pleasant, and responsive every step of the way. Our wedding was so perfect, and felt simple but also like a treat that was memorable and ideal for us. They got a vegan cake for us and worked out my allergies. They were on the phone with us an hour before the ceremony to give us last recommendations and other options since it was surprisingly very cold and rainy that day. The photographer was perfect and we got the most beautiful pictures and scrapbook after. The whole experience felt like we could make it exactly what we wanted and we wouldn't be judged.
