We were experiencing very poor air quality in the home, which felt stuffy and heavy. We had to…read moreconstantly replace air filters and frequently encountered dust on items. We looked around and read many reviews. We decided to contact Twin Cities Furnace Cleaning. They did not answer the phone right away but I received a call very quickly. I explained the situation and how we have some allergies, and they took the time to listen and go over all the details. They then recommended Steve who is the go-to guy when it comes to allergies as well as other things related. We set up an appointment with Steve, and Steve arrived early. He set up his equipment and was very mindful about making a mess as well as getting things dirty and wet. He took his time to explain as well as show me what was going on and answer all my questions. Because of allergies Steve took his time and made sure each vent was cleaned as best as possible. The things I saw in the ductwork were scary, which had built up over the years of this property. After he was done, we swapped the air filter and within 20 minutes of running, I could smell the difference in the air. The air felt lighter and did not have a heavy feel. Also, my air purifiers were not reading off the charts anymore. Steve did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend him as well as Twin Cities Furnace Cleaning. I ended up getting their Ultimate cleaning or whatever the highest one was, and compared to other places, it was cheap. The price you pay for what you get is a bargain. It ended up being $541.00 with tax and worth every penny.

BEWARE: Independent contractors are used by this company who carry their own insurance. I had an…read moreunfortunate situation where a furnace drain hose was bumped out of place by one of this company's independent contractors causing a leak in my ceiling weeks before my house was to close to a new owner. My claim was declined. The insurance company required unrealistic things like a photo of the space prior to incident showing the hose in place. Who takes pictures of their furnace? This resulted in a costly last-minute repair to my ceiling. Essentially this means that you are at the mercy of a potential crappy insurance policy carried by the contractor and that the owner takes no personal responsibility for potential damage.

I had a previous experience with CSI that was okay, so I called to schedule an inspection. The person taking calls was either having a bad day or didn't know how to professionally answer phones and set appointments, but I let that slide. I shouldn't have. On the appointed day the technician showed up on time and got to work, performed a few tests, confirmed that the boiler ran, and did some checking to be sure water was circulating around the baseboard pipes in both zones. I paid the technician for the 1.5 hours labor and assurances that my boiler system only needed a thermostat replaced but would otherwise be in good shape for the whole winter. That said, it turns out the technician offered incorrect advice about a thermostat and connected zone valve which cost me $25 for an unnecessary replacement. The technician also failed to notice and/or mention a severely corroded float valve and expansion tank which failed not a week later. Since the technician tested it the boiler's drain valve hasn't stopped dribbling, but he failed to note this. I received an invoice two weeks later which was mailed to the wrong address, and which incorrectly indicated that a balance was still due. I sent an email documenting all of these problems to Comfort Systems Inc's management, including pictures of the corroded and failing equipment. I received a short reply from Chris apologizing for the invoicing problem, but he didn't even acknowledge the other issues or offer any concession for the unnecessary costs and preventable emergency. Perhaps it was my mistake for not clearly stating that I was looking for more than a scant few words of apology, but this further inattention to detail has ensured that I'll look elsewhere for future HVAC needs.

The staff were very nice and easy to work with, but my air conditioning system was not fixed. I…read morecalled another company out afterward. The second technician explained to me what Comfort Systems did wrong in assessing my problem. I appreciate the quality customer service, but the technician I had was not knowledgeable in the repairs. My refrigerant needed to be recharged, but Comfort Systems only recharged it halfway to the factory default. The system cooled better, but not near where it should. Comfort Systems tested the repair by sensing the vents in my living room, whereas the other company tested the air in my furnace coming in and out. Comfort Systems was just picking up cool air coming out of my basement, not the amount the system was producing.
