These folks are completely knowledgeable, reliable, skillful and honest. I've bought a refrigerator and had another fridge repaired by them. I've also purchased a washer and a dryer from them and even their delivery guys really know their stuff. They're consistently courteous, respectful and they are pros in every way. As to pricing (and I know, because I compared such before choosing), and the quality of the products they offer, they've got all that down, as well. I initially went with McCloskey because my 88-year-old, widowed mother - who lives, alone, in Mason City - has used them, and ONLY them, for many years; she highly recommended them, and she's as pleased as ever with their service, prices, products and employees. I am, as well. IMO, one cannot go wrong by choosing McCloskey Appliance.

Rich explained in detail the features, etc. He was excellent to do business with, even upgraded our dryer when the original choice was damaged. Didn't charge for delivery or to pick up old appliances. Delivery men, Dalton and Zach did a very professional job as well!! Service is not a thing of the past. They worked with us all the way.

The furnace they picked & installed is for a coastal zone NOT MN! Then they did not install new chimney with new furnace!! By not finishing properly warranty is negated & furnace won't work. Then they spent 6 wks trying to find problem & expect me to pay $500 when Steve finally called on 1)6/23 to tell me they didn't install the chimney & that was problem! Can't switch out a chimney in January AND they Stole the New Chimney so before I could install a new chimney I HAD TO BUY A NEW CHIMNEY!! I had to hire a diff company to finish the job as Arens just left me with zilch!! Refused to return phone calls!! After All Was Done: I had to pay over $3000 to fix the problem created by Arens Heating & Use of the SEMCAC Pgm!! Neither the City of Austin Nor the SEMCAC pgm inspected this installation as both are supposed to do according to SEMCAC pgm!! SEMCAC is Worthless without oversight!! Now it's 1/3/25 & this inappropriate zone furnace is Not Working AGAIN!! I'd known Arens for 40 yrs - THEY WERE FRIENDS - NOT ANY MORE!!! This was a job done for my 90 yo Mom who was participating in SEMCAC pgm when Arens did install incorrectly. She could have died due to their incompetence as not switching out the chimney on new furnace can cause a fire &/or carbon monoxide poisoning according to mfg's I contacted!! Steer far away from this vendor! Use of their lack of service could prove deadly!!

He explained everything thoroughly, and helped me learn more than just a thing, or two about my AC unit. This is the kind of service you always hope for, but never actually expect to get. He was so kind, and polite. I know for a fact that the next time I run into an issue, Arens is the only place I'll need to call. Not only are you greeted on the phone with a friendly voice, but you're also given service that hits right out of the ballpark.

I respond to those comments here: I am not a devoted social media person, but I do give some credence to online reviews of products, services, etc. I prefer to discuss things personally with people if conflicts arise. I value good faith and integrity when things go south. But some points brought up by Midwest Indoor Storage (MIS) in response to my post regarding damaged furniture merits comment. MIS Owner: Before you moved into the unit, it was documented in our database that the ceiling tile above your unit was already missing. This information was available prior to your rental, and we strongly recommend tenants inspect units to ensure they meet their needs before storing belongings. My response: I was never informed of a missing ceiling tile in the unit. It seems disingenuous that a company would say, "yes, please rent a storage unit from us, but it's up to you to search our database and scrutinize this unit to see if it has any structural issues." MIS Owner: When you reported water damage, we immediately worked with you to address the issue by relocating your belongings to a different unit My response: Phone conversations are announced as being recorded by MIS, so MIS is able to hear the first words from their manager regarding the water issue was," what would you like me to do about it?" One would have thought a "let's get you out of that unit and into another" response more warranted. It was I who had to suggest another unit and it was I who had to relocate items. MIS Owner: ...offering several months of rent at no cost to compensate for the inconvenience. My response: The cost of repair to the damaged antique furniture was $800. MIS offered 3 months free rent IF I were to remove a negative review of their company. The free rent did not cover even half of the repair. MIS Owner: Furthermore, we did have the area inspected after your move to a different unit and there was no evidence of leaking. My response: This comment amazes me. Water damage on my furniture and on the floor is clearly evidence of leaking. An MIS manager admitted that because their inspection showed "no evidence of leaking," that water damage "never occurred." MIS Owner: While you declined the offer of free rent, we made every effort to assist you in good faith My response: The offer of free rent did not cover even half of the repair cost and was predicated on my removal of a negative review. I'd rather the public understand the response they'd encounter from MIS if problems arose with their stored items rather than take the meager offer and remove my post. MIS Owner: We encourage open communication and invite you to reach out directly if you have further concerns or documentation to share. My response: As far as "good faith" and "open communication," I find these words totally disingenuous. I emailed, called, and drove an hour to the company's home office to speak personally with the owner, Nicole El-Sawaf, only to be told she wasn't available. She returned no calls. There was little "open communication" on MIS's end. As mentioned previously, I prefer to speak personally when issues come up. I value calm, constructive dialogue and wish MIS had handled our unit's water problem differently. We plan to end our contract with Midwest Indoor Storage soon.
