I've been in the business for 20 years and was looking for a cold reading class to stay fresh while pregnant.

I completed the IV Therapy & Blood Withdrawal Certification course at Los Angeles Career College,…read moreand I have to say--this place runs smoother than most hospital floors I've worked on. The staff was organized, check-in was easy, and the hybrid format made the whole process painless (unlike some IV attempts I've witnessed in real life). What really impressed me was how efficient everything was. Once I passed my exam, they handed me my certificate the same day--no waiting, no chasing emails, no mysterious "processing time." Just boom. Certified. I wish everything in healthcare worked that fast. Now for the real highlight: Instructor Steele Erickson. Steele is the kind of nursing instructor you secretly hope for but never expect to get. He breaks down IV therapy and blood withdrawal with such clarity and patience that even tricky techniques suddenly feel manageable. He teaches with a calm, supportive energy that makes everyone relax. He's incredibly knowledgeable, genuinely invested in every student, and somehow keeps the class both educational and entertaining. As someone with 25+ years in healthcare, I can confidently say instructors like Steele do not grow on trees. If you're considering getting your IV Certification, go to Los Angeles Career College and hope you get Steele Erickson as your instructor. You'll walk away confident, competent, and wondering why every nursing class can't be this smooth. Highly recommended!

I took the accelerated CNA course with Mika. I am not going to lie, it was a lot of work, but Mika…read moremade the experience enjoyable. Life got in the way a couple of times during this portion of the class and I was able to talk to Mika and figure out a plan so that I wouldn't have to miss class. I also loved listening to her real life stories of working in nursing. The course I took was 5 weeks, 8 hours a day. The first two weeks were online. There is a lot of reading, a lot of quizzes, and several tests, but you get the hang of it quickly. The second week was practical where you learned the skills. I got pretty frustrated when I didn't get the skill right the first time, but the fact is that there are a lot of steps to the skills and these are brand new things that I'm learning. It all falls into place when you go into the clinical. You get to apply what you learned in class and in your practical learning. I especially loved my clinical rotations at the hospital. It gave me such a bigger perspective on the healthcare industry and patient care. I learned so much and discovered that I really liked working in ER. I look forward to applying everything I learned in my future career.

"As soon as I stepped foot in Z/A Studio, I knew I had found my new acting home…read more The creativity in the room was palpable. The students' preparation and commitment to their scenes is inspiring to witness and of course the teachers are phenomenal. The teachers hold space for actors and give you the tools through acting, administration and attitude to elevate you as an actor. The expectation of your work is greatness. To truly know yourself and the character, to go deep with your rehearsals. Most importantly they care for you to be a working professional actor, they will get you ready for the real world, by turning your dreams into action."

I audited and found out this studio was not for me (which is totally ok)!…read more Here's why: The instructions given about how to behave on set, audition, etc. I felt were dated based on my experiences with the industry in its current state, and some teachings gave off a "let's break you down" energy, which, personally, I have always found to be more distressing than helpful when performing. I think this class works for people who like long-form scene work and enjoy a strict approach to acting, but for me, the style of teaching ultimately felt too dated and unnecessarily straight-edge for a job that is often fun and not that serious (sometimes, we really are just playing Tree #3). It's also hard because art and acting are so subjective, and there really is no correct way of doing any of it :) I'm sure everyone that has been in this class for a long time is there for a reason, has gotten what they need out of it, and has found a great community within it. However, I found the class itself to be too serious and a touch ostentatious for my taste. Different strokes for different folks!
