This is still a great theater if there is a production you want to see They even had a concert in the parking lot which was fantastic! The theater is not that big and the seats are comfy . We used to be season seat holders but haven't gone in a while, however.... We saw that there was a play called Jane Austen Unscripted being held outside the theater in back of the building. 8 of us decided to go and got a table just in front of the stage. It was lunchtime and local stores and restaurants provided some munchies, one per person, like fruit tarts, berry scones, a cupcake and cucumber tea sandwich. When reading the "program" we saw it was going to be improv with members of the Impro Theater, and as we've been to improvs before we know that it can be great or not so much. We, and every table at the show, thought it was a fantastic show. The actors did a great job that had us laughing and enjoying it to the 10-star degree. We understand that there's a bit of a different show based on the actors and audience response, but our show was great! It's still playing for a little while so if you can and like Jane Austin and improvisation definitely go see it! read more

My first time visiting this theathre for a play and my first thought is that the parking is a little tad bit small compared to how many people showed up to watch the play. It's located across from Bobs Big Boy and man I haven't seen one of those since I was a little kid. It does bring back memories. Once you find parking and park your car you have to walk to the front and wait in the small lobby section. This place isn't large and you won't get lost. The seating is a bit on the tighter side but it does work. Overall I thought it was a fun spot and I'm glad I got to come here and check it out. read more

The Troubies can be seen elsewhere (namely Santa Monica, La Mirada, Malibu), but Falcon is far and away the best place to see them. The acoustics are better, and it's cozy enough so that there are no bad seats. Bonus: the Zoltar machine from the movie "Big" is in the lobby, which is run by a super nice guy named Joe. (The lobby is run by Joe, not the Zoltar). There's a classic Bob's Big Boy right across the street. And you might see the owner, celebrated director Garry Marshall, if he's not somewhere else, yet again pointing a camera at Hector Elizondo. Regarding the Troubies, please see any and every show by the Troubadour company, as they are simply my favorite live act to see, brilliantly combining the highest and lowest forms of comedy, mixing Shakespeare (and other 500 year old texts) with gut-splitting improvisation (literally-clownish director Matt Walker gives his fearless audience-faves Rick & Beth a very long leash), live singing (or belting, in Lisa V's case) of slightly Weird-Al'd popular music backed by a tight band, inventive choreography, puppetry (puppetry?!), and topical, bad-pun driven, slapsticky farce, all while breaking-- no, demolishing-- the fourth wall to the point you may find one of them in your lap. I have been to the Falcon Theatre a few times. Most recently, I enjoyed a coworker's performance there last night. It is a beautiful theater with a small and intimate audience seating. The theater itself is great because there's a lot of different ways in which you can change and contort it depending on the performance/show. Many times senior showcases are performed there whether it be high school, college, or grad. Most prominently college and grad. They do not allowed food or drink in there and they do have a concession stand with snacks, water, and soda. Everyone is very lovely there. You can order your tickets online and pick them up at will call. Is a great experience and they usually only ever had great shows there. Hope you enjoy! read more

I love this theater! At max it seats 130, so as someone else mentioned, not a bad seat in the house. Even in the back row, you are still close enough to the stage to see the performer's faces. The Troubadour Theater Company performs a summer production. They are an excellent group and a regular fixture for this theater with 2-3 additional shows during the season. All of the productions brought to this theater are of high caliber and many times, noted performers. The Falcon is owned by Garry Marshal and his family (Pretty Woman, Princess Diaries, Happy Days, etc). Parking is easy as there is street parking and a back parking lot, though season ticket holders get a spot in the Falcon lot. Concessions are reasonably priced and staff is incredibly friendly! read more

I never knew this theater existed until my sister wanted to see Joey McIntyre from NKOTB guest perform a couple of weeks ago in the production of "Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." I didn't know what to expect. It's a small building but I was pleasantly surprised at how intimate the space was. Every seat was a good seat. So if you're mulling over what section to buy, it's pointless since you're so close to the action even from the back and you can hear the actors clearly from every angle. Would love to see more plays in the future at this location. There is a very small parking lot in the back for $10, but I would suggest just parking on the street nearby. read more

First class live theatre in an intimate setting. All the years I have lived near this theatre and I never went to a show. Now that the name has changed to honor the late great Garry Marshall, and the exterior has changed the landscape of the neighborhood I couldn't resist. And wow, my wife and I have been loving it! Been to the first two shows so far of the 2017 season and the productions are top notch. We've been making it our date night by dining locally and walking to the theatre. I gotta tell you that if you're even slightly considering seeing a show here you won't be disappointed. I hear they will be having some kind of entertainment throughout the year, not just plays. The Falcon Theatre's one of those places where, if it's doing its job right, you don't really notice the venue because you are having such a good time enjoying its content; BUT since I'm bound and determined NOT to review shows (useless on Yelp anyway, because these reviews are not time sensitive), I'm stuck reviewing the venue. The Falcon is pretty darn nice. It's intimate (130 seats - how'd they come up with THAT odd number?), but it's also pretty plush: Nice movie-theatre-type seats, large, clean lobby, roomy bathrooms - not what you usually expect in small LA theatre, where sometimes, you might have to cross the stage to go to the bathroom, or they might be one unisex toilet to service the 20 people who've shown up for live performance art. Part of the reason is Garry Marshall, brother of Penny, father of mogul Kathleen, creator of umpteen million sit-coms, the ultimate Hollywood hyphenate - Writer-Producer-Director-Actor industry-unto-himself - built this place. You gotta love a guy who sunk his own money into THEATRE, for God's sake, the ultimate money-pit, but he's done it for his friends, colleagues, and "emerging talent" to kick some creative ass. We've seen a number of things here, most recently the Troubadours, who ABSOLUTELY RULE, but since this Yelp is not time-sensitive, I will not Yelp them, except to say: THEY RULE. This is a great venue. Maybe, if anything, too nice, and too comfortable, considering the artists are probably not getting as much as, say, the close-circuit video commercials playing non-stop in the lobby cost, but hey, who's complaining? Any temple to the live performing arts that can make it in LA? I salute you! read more

I love the Falcon Theatre. This place is awesome. It is so convenient to go to. I go for various plays but I always go there when the Troubie's are performing. It is a small, intimate, informal theater. All of the seats are in a good location for viewing. There are ushers to help you to your seats....again, informal, they are not dressed up or anything. There is a very small parking lot with an attendant and there is also plenty of parking on the streets, depending on when you go. Across the street there is Moe's Restaurant. This is a great place to go before your show to have a quick bite and/or a quick drink. There is also a Bob's Big Boy across the street as well. During warmer months Bob's sometime's has classic car shows in their parking lot which is cool if you are just coming from a weekend matinee show. Awesome!! read more

Great space. I performed here on Monday and the Theater had a lot of character. The walls are covered with posters from old performances from over the years. One of the funniest posters said Abbamemnon--you know, like Agamemnon but with Abba music. The green room was big and though everything was older, the space was clean. The dressing rooms were quite large and they each had a rack (with hangers) and a couch. There was only one bathroom backstage, which resulted in somewhat of an inconvenience for our company of 44. They have plenty of parking but they prefer you to park on the street if you are a performer, and street parking in this neighborhood sucks--watch out for residential parking only, street cleaning and 2hr meters. The stage was decent sized and there was about 100 seats for audience members. Many places to eat in the neighborhood, with Umami right across the street, a Lemonade that recently opened and of course Bob's Diner, Starbucks, and Chipotle among others. Gary Marshall, the theater owner and famous Director/Filmmaker came to meet us before one of our shows and shared stories about his life. The Zolta, the fortune telling machine, from the movie Big is in the lobby because the film was directed by Gary Marshall's sister- Penny Marshall. read more

We had an amazing experience this weekend at the Falcon Theater! We were there to see ABBAmemnon, which was hilarious and full of talent, but I'd like to take this opportunity to commend the off-stage talent. I totally screwed up and thought my tickets were for Sunday, but realized as we were walking into the theater that our tickets were actually for the day prior. I was embarrassed, compounded by being on a third date with someone I really wanted to impress... that plan was in a steep nose-dive. We went to the box office and to say they were accommodating would be an understatement. They added 2 chairs to the floor section and got us in just in time to be the "Late-Comers"... (which was actually hilarious and fun). The management will always have a place in my heart for coming to my rescue and not only saving me from myself, but actually making the date better than I had imagined. Though logistically... A friend took me to see the world premiere of The Last Word and it was a fantastic play with a terrific cast of five people. I found out that it wasn't a Garry Marshall production so they didn't advertise it which meant theater wasn't full and it should have been. They missed a chance to brag that they had this play. The set was outstanding and it is a very comfortable intimate theatre. I will be sure to return. And they have there own parking lot which really is a plus. read more

It's Gary Marshall's small, intimate space where the Troubadour troupe gets a bit too close for comfort, all in good fun. I have only been here for their shows and they are usually pretty funny. They mix music with mostly Shakespeare plays like Twelfth Dog Night, A Midsummer Saturday Night Fever, Romeo Hall & Juliet Oates, to name a few. Then their winter musicals are equally clever, like It's A Stevie Wonderful Life and my favorite, A Christmas Carol King. They've also ventured into other plays like Alice in One Hit Wonderland 1 and 2, because we all know there are too many one hit wonders out there to try to squeeze into one show! Anyway, I recommend seeing them! The space is nice, tickets aren't too bad, and you have a great local vibe. read more

This is a very intimate, well designed modern theater. Every seat in the house has an awesome view, as each row is raised. The lobby is spacious, and a pleasant place to wait. The only thing I noticed is that the arm rest of a woman in the front row kept falling off, so I would suggest they look into that. Fortunately, she took it off completely, and it did not disrupt the play. The bathrooms were clean, and there was a nice concession stand in the lobby(no alcohol). The sound in the theater was very good also. I look forward to seeing more productions in this beautiful theater. read more

I love this place. It will always be special to me because it introduced me to "Fellowship! The Musical Parody of 'The Fellowship of the Ring'" which became one of my most favourite things in life EVER. And I just recently came back to watch "Twilight Zone Unscripted," which was an amazing show by Impro Theatre (and also had several of the same cast members as Fellowship!). The shows here are of such high quality and always exceed my expectations. In a theatre built by Garry Marshall and his daughter, how could the shows not be great? The location is great as well! There are so many restaurants and bars on Riverside Dr to eat and drink at before (or after) the show, which is really convenient. The theatre does have its own parking lot, but it's small and must be emptied ASAP after the show, so it is often easier to park either on the street or at a nearby restaurant where you have had dinner. Inside the theatre, the lobby is spacious and the bathrooms are clean. The stage room itself is a decent size and yet wonderfully intimate. There are no bad seats--they all have a great view of the stage. I have enjoyed everything I have seen here and look forward to coming back again :D read more

This used to be a great theatre with affordable season ticket prices. It was also the home of The Troubadour Theatre Company. In fact, The Troubies are the reason we started subscribing to the entire season. There were many great productions over the years and we looked forward to the announcement of the new season. Following the death of Garry Marshall, things began to change. We cancelled our subscription but kept our Troubie tickets. We arrived early because the parking lot is small and fills quickly. We were turned away because we were no longer subscribers. Even though we are both disabled, we were told to find parking around the block or down the alley. These are not well lit streets and, to be perfectly honest, I am not comfortable tooling around dark and uneven streets in a wheelchair. Needless to say, we have not returned and don't plan to anytime soon. read more

There are a good number of eateries nearby so you can arrive pre-show, park on the street, eat some tasty bites and then enjoy a great fine arts performance. I really love this small theater! I saw the production of Laurel and Hardy and it was so lovely. Positives: The place is small and personal so you actually get to see the actors and their facial expressions. It is stadium seating so no one is blocking your view of the stage. Negatives: No eating/drinking in the theater. There is little leg room and it can get uncomfortable. read more

Play was superb, theatre was very comfortable in ambience and seats. Easy to get to, easy parking. A wonderful experience! A friend is a subscriber to this theatre and invited me along to see The Snow Queen. I had absolutely no idea what to expect other than she said that I would laugh a lot. That was a MAJOR UNDERSTATEMENT. I laughed so hard I had tears running down my face. We were there for the staging of "The Snow Queen". All of the actors were hilarious and it amazed me how much was improve...and so frickin' hilarious! I would love to go see it again, but they are sold out! If you can beg, borrow or steal tickets GO SEE THIS SHOW. If that's not an option, then definitely put this place on your radar and go see a show soon! read more

The play was good, however the last 3 rows could only hear about 50% of the dialogue. We were told to move up at the beginning of the play to hear better. The theater was sold out and we should be able to hear anywhere in the theater. Use the microphones so that we can hear the play. Straining to hear 50% is not an enjoyable evening. Went to see Billy and Ray there a few weeks ago. I thought the show was well done the gentleman who played Billy was excellent and the rest were also very good ,Billy was a larger then life character who stole most of the scenes but overall i would say it was great ! The venue is intimate we were off to the side a bit slightly above stage and I thought the seats were terrific. They sell basic refreshments,sodas ,candy,pretzels.etc. I enjoyed the whole experience very much. Im probably going to get season tickets as its local to my home in Toluca Lake. BRAVO ! read more
