Life got in the way a couple of times during this portion of the class and I was able to talk to Mika and figure out a plan so that I wouldn't have to miss class. I also loved listening to her real life stories of working in nursing. The course I took was 5 weeks, 8 hours a day. The first two weeks were online. There is a lot of reading, a lot of quizzes, and several tests, but you get the hang of it quickly. The second week was practical where you learned the skills. I got pretty frustrated when I didn't get the skill right the first time, but the fact is that there are a lot of steps to the skills and these are brand new things that I'm learning. It all falls into place when you go into the clinical. You get to apply what you learned in class and in your practical learning. I especially loved my clinical rotations at the hospital. It gave me such a bigger perspective on the healthcare industry and patient care. I learned so much and discovered that I really liked working in ER. Risa is a wonderful person who I believe means well, but for whatever reason, she and the other instructors are blind to their own bias. I hope that changes one day. Many other actors and actresses have witnessed the exact same thing and now choose not to return. It is only a "safe space" if you have the right skin color and gender.

I only got to hear Luis speak to the class for a small portion but he is definitely knowledgeable about gun laws as well. Did not get to see him at the range unfortunately. There was another gentleman there that I didn't get his name but he was very helpful with tips to improve my grip. At the range, I watched the instructors, Bo and Mike, encourage an older woman who was a novice to guns and she was slightly nervous as she was having trouble manipulating her fireman but they were super patient with her. They gave off no condescending energy at all (and I've seen that from other instructors before, especially towards novices and/or women). But Bo and Mike had her shooting on target and I could tell she was so happy and proud of herself by the end of the day. I really appreciated their kindness towards her, they went the extra mile!
