I used to love watching my dad drive. He was such a good driver. Always between the lines. Always cooler than the other side of the pillow. The ferry employees have their loading and unloading methods down to a fine science. Clear hand signals. Calm demeanors. I'm a fan. My parents were here hours before us and had to wait over an hour just to get on a ferry. When we showed up - probably because we had all the hungry, hyper, small bladder kids - we didn't wait but a few minutes. And the kids all got to move around in the truck cabs, but not out of our trucks. We loved the dolphins racing along side us and doing their cool tricks in the bay. Best part of it all... The ferry is free. But boy was Port Aransas (affectionately referred to as "Port A" by locals and frequent visitors) packed on 6.19.2025! Fun Fact One ferry is named after Arnold W. Oliver who my granddad went to school with (I think) back in the 50s. Cool stuff! If there's even a chance he could read this, miss you, love you, Granddad!

This time around my sister and brother in law and thier kids also came along for the first time. Becky the property manager greeted us as we arrived at our 4pm check-in. She explained everything in detail and walked us through the cabin and made us feel very welcomed. The unique one story cabins are arranged in a horseshoe configuration and are named according to their theme, and in the middle a beautiful courtyard is shared with gueats. We actually stayed in their latest newly remodeled two story cabin called The Marlin. It's located right next to the main property. At night it's very safely lit and your vechicals are parked under the structure. It sleeps 10 with two full baths and all the amenities you need to make your stay enjoyable. It has a second story large balcony and a small third story balcony as well. Access to the beach is at walking distance or a short drive. After hurricane Harvey the cabins sustained damage and there was even a waterline marker when the storm surge came in. After alot of hard work and tireless vollenteers the newly remodeled cabins are better than ever. Becky was even kind enough to show us inside The Rock and Roll cabin and the remarkable improvements they made. The Dancing Dunes is highly recommend which ever cabin you stay in. They were respectful, apologetic, and gave clear examples of how they were intending to fix the issues we experienced. No one is perfect, the best that we can expect is that when something inevitably goes wrong, that the company does its best to fix the problem. I personally would still be hesitant to stay at this park because of my negative experience. But if the main management​ is able to fix the issues we experienced, our stay would have been quite pleasant otherwise. And top-level​ management definitely takes great pride in their parks and seems to be striving to fix the issues, so you may very well have better luck during​ your stay.

Lots of people bring canopies, and we saw some that had bag holders for the canopies so your beach bag isn't full of sand on the bottom. We'd also advise a picnic/outdoor blanket to set stuff on and cup holders that go into the sand to hold your beverage. It's fun to watch the local surf school give lessons, and there are lots of locals/families.
