I found J'Adore Les Macarons on Yelp that they offer macron class, let's do it! The instructor Connie is friendly and knowledgeable. My friend and I arrived 10 mins early before the class, the notes and some ingredients were prepared and placed on countertop. Yes, we made macarons at her kitchen. The first thing I learnt from Connie was how to pronounce Macaron. (Mac-a-ron). Macaron is referring to the French Macaron. If pronounce it macaroon, it is the coconut kind. We started with a cup of tea and tasted beautiful macarons during the class. Our group decided to make Lavender macarons with buttercream and chocolate ganache which made of 66% Valhrona dark chocolate. Connie taught us her secrets and techniques to make Parisian macarons. During the class, she vigilant in checking and measuring the ingredients. After 4 hours long class, I really enjoyed and learnt a lot. I took 18 macarons home and shared with my friend and hubby. I would recommend any macaron lover to take the class or buy the macarons from Connie

I am relatively new to them as just being introduced to them this year! Although I am a macaron noob, I've looked online and read recipes and know enough about them to truly appreciate the precision that goes into its creation. So I went to their website and signed up for a class on Victoria day. I went on my own as my friend was unavailable. Connie, the instructor emailed me promptly to let me know as soon as there are 4 people in the class, it will be good to go. The class is held at Connie's house which I liked as it was warm and comfortable and made me feel at ease. I'm just a self-taught baker making assorted cookies and cupcakes at home and have never taken a class before so I didn't know what to really expect. The intimate setting of having 4 students was awesome. She had tea for us to drink, fun aprons to wear and 2 sample macarons to taste as we learned the secrets of baking macarons. It's great for people who have tried making macarons and need to tweak something to make consistent perfect macarons. You can tell Connie is just obsessed with macarons. I love it! She has done the work, spent time learning the skill and art of them and loves sharing that information through her classes. I think she said she has been making macarons weekly for the past year and a half! That's a LOT of macarons. If you love macarons and love to bake, Connie's class is a MUST. I had so much fun, and she is so pleasant. She even welcomes emails if you have a macaron crisis at home and have questions in the future. The price is fair. $100 for instruction PLUS you get to take 20 macarons home! It was definitely worth it. The whole experience makes me dreamy for Paris and macarons. Thank-you again Connie for generously sharing your expertise!

Tried the very trendy fruit shaped desserts and I would say- well executed. The white chocolate had a good crunch, the filling was very tart, the jelly/panna inside was smooth and creamy. Since my mother cannot eat overly sweet desserts, I only planned to buy one single macaron for myself. Throughout ordering, I smiled and spoke polite, proper English without any disruptive behaviour. One female staff member asked "only one?" twice in an exaggerated, mocking tone after I confirmed my small purchase. During checkout, two female staff exchanged eye contact and snickered quietly at us. Right after I pushed open the entrance door and was still halfway out of the shop, they burst into obvious, loud laughter directed at me and my mother. When I calmly asked what they were laughing about, they stared at me and kept jeering without a single word of explanation. These macarons are sold at a very high premium price in downtown Vancouver. If the shop required a minimum spending amount, clear notices should have been posted in advance. Without any posted purchase rules, every customer deserves the freedom to pick any number of items they want, rather than facing open ridicule from employees. I cannot stop wondering whether visitors of other ethnic backgrounds buying just one macaron would receive this same cold, mocking treatment. This upsetting encounter ruined the mood of both my mother and me entirely. Vancouver is famous for multicultural friendliness and inclusive hospitality. It is truly disappointing that a world-famous premium French pastry brand allows such unkind, judgemental service toward guests here. I have submitted a formal complaint to Ladurée global headquarters and attached storefront photos as proof for this review. Travellers and local residents should think twice before visiting this location.

This was quite the find and I'm still sort of processing it all. It's a hot sauce specialty shop,…read morebar, lounge and restaurant, but they don't have a proper kitchen. We found this as our initial destination had an absurd wait, and we left satisfied and pleasantly surprised. I saw pics online of what appeared to be large, juicy, and crispy fried chicken sandwiches sporting local hot sauces as the secret ingredients, and that's what brought us in. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with the Hot Duck chili crisp on it. Upon the bartenders rec we opted for the extra hot, which was a good call because it didn't really pack a punch to us chili heads, but had great flavor. The chicken was juicy and crispy, and the brioche bun was so soft and fluffy. All around a good sandwich, but we found it strange that they only offered it with chips, and no upgrade to fries, which were available as an add on order. As we ate our sandwich and waffle fries we realized there was no smell of oil in the air or sounds of a fryer, which had us scratching our heads. We looked for a hood too and noticed none. Eventually we realized that everything here is commercially air fried, which was both fun to learn and somewhat surprising. If this place had a fryer, it would be SO much better, but considering this limitation, it was solid. The sauce selection was huge too. I loved that you could taste them all and that they offered some amazing deals too. We found a few that warranted us checking a bag on the way back so we could enjoy them on the other side of the border, and I'm stoked they offer online ordering and shipping so we can get some more when they run out. All in all a solid experience. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. As a hot sauce store, this is a 5 star experience, as a restaurant, also good but just have the right expectations.

I came in to check for a sauce my friend asked for but stayed for a bite! Did I mention that this place is cheap AF!? I don't know how they do it but it's incredibly affordable and the quality of food is impressive! I got their Veggies on Fire (Cheddar, lettuce, sprouts, tomato, cucumber, green pepper, pickles, red onion, banana peppers, Dijon, spicy mayo - Hot Sauce: Dawson's Shawarma). This was $8. Plus I added waffle fries, which I don't even care for. But these were heavily seasoned and cooked to perfection. The sandwiches come with chips but you can't miss the fries. You can choose which breads you want and I choose sourdough. Highly recommend that you toast that bread. The sandwich was huge and staked with so many veggies. The hot sauce was very mild but paired so well. The service was phenomenal! Above and beyond and so friendly. The place gets quite busy, understandable, and they are still so patient and friendly. I can't wait to try their extensive menu and order their veggie friendly menu options! And, obvy, their 1000 hot sauces!
