Came here on a Friday night to see @playgrnd series and it was awesome! Never knew this spot existed, but I'm so glad to have a club-type venue just walking distance away. Small purses are allowed which security throughly searched through. Coat check is also available, but luckily we didn't need it. My group and I decided to station ourselves on the balcony area where there was plenty of room to dance. Bathrooms are also located on this floor. I love how the venue also had a 3rd floor lounge area with a bar which that had access to an outdoor section to smoke. There was even a tv where you can see the stage. There were plenty of bars throughout the venue so you never really had to wait on line. Best part of Melrose Ballroom was the sound system. I was pretty impressed that it was very well done and my ears didn't feel like they were bleeding by the end of the night. read more

I visited this venue over the weekend for a charity concert. The line was very long, as was the wait to get in. I wish that the venue would have been more accurate with specifying the time that the performers would start. On email correspondences, it was stated that the concert would begin at 6 PM and end at 10 PM. The venue did not start letting people in until 7 PM, and the concert did not begin until 8 PM. This information would have saved me a big rush getting there and given me peace of mind, considering I was traveling from afar. The concert room was a little humid/muggy for a good portion of the performance, and it was not until halfway through the show that the air-conditioning was turned on. Drinks were quite pricey, approximately $60 before tip for two vodka Red Bulls and one gin and tonic. However, this is to be expected of a New York venue. The drinks were tasty! Aside from the VIP section upstairs, there are absolutely no seats here, not even by the bar. Although this is a nightclub style venue, I believe there should be at least a handful of seats in the event someone is not feeling well or can't stand that long. I brought my parents to the charity concert and had to find makeshift seats for them on stools that I found in the basement. There is street parking all around and we found a spot on the street right around the corner from the ballroom. The performance itself was spectacular and high energy! I loved the decor via digital designs on the screen behind the performer, as well on the screens above the bars on each side of the room. read more

I went for the first time for a soccer watch event..I use a wheelchair so we asked security for the best place to be out of people way.We were put in a corner but then told to move to a different area.This place got so crowded that people could not move around. Security tried their best but it was very unsafe , I could not even get to a bathroom..so After 20 minutes of game time I asked security to help me leave and it was chaotic. the logistics were terrible even if I had purchase a table..Never again. First time at this location, it's too watch a boxing match. Our ids are checked when entering the premises since one needs to be for 21+ to enter. The bar has alcoholic drinks, juices and water. No food from what I can deduce. There is a 2nd Floor to overlook the first floor. The first floor contains the ring, chairs for the judges and vip, the rest of the area is standing room only. The restrooms are located in the basement. You can find parking in the parking lot or street parking as long as you don't mind walking a few blocks. Enjoy! read more

Great venue for concerts, especially amongst the Greek community. I was able to find parking on the street. They have two bars and also serve food. Service is a bit slow if you order from a waitress. FYI concerts start late and end late. Can't wait to go back! read more

It is absolutely disgraceful that Melrose Ballroom is refusing to cancel or postpone tonight's event (Feb 22, 2026) despite a Blizzard Warning, a State of Emergency, and a Travel Ban issued by Mayor Mamdani starting at 9 PM. The National Weather Service is warning that travel is 'treacherous and life-threatening,' yet this venue is choosing greed over human safety. They are effectively forcing fans--many of whom, like myself, are coming from out of state (Medford, NJ)--to choose between losing their money or risking their lives in whiteout conditions on roads that are legally closed to non-essential travel. To the management: Putting lives in danger for a couple of bucks is the definition of corporate soullessness. If anyone gets hurt, stranded, or killed trying to reach your doors tonight, that blood is on your hands. Karma is real, and this level of negligence is sickening. Be advised: I will be filing a formal consumer complaint with New York Attorney General Letitia James regarding this predatory refusal to refund or reschedule during a government-declared emergency. You shouldn't be allowed to profit off putting the public in harm's way. read more

We went here for the Esscalation music festival last weekend. Venue was decent size and did not get over-heat. The crowd was very friendly and sound system was good. I was very disappointed about service at the bar. They automatically charged 10% tip without letting us know. I understand that it's also a customer's duty to check the receipt but this is a music venue, most peeps here are tipsy and drunk and most likely do not notice the automatic tip. Wonder how many people were cheated by the bartenders and tipped more than they should because of the shady practice. Venue was used to host an Anniversary party for several dance studios. Area for dancers to change costumes was too crowded, with not enough tables in which to place bags and items. Benches were all taken by participants because they didn't supply enough seating for everyone. This made us use the floor which caused us more chaos as we needed several costume changes. Area had poor lighting so applying makeup was made difficult if you didn't bring your own lighted mirror. - After the show, dancers had been promised food as the venue doesn't allow any food to be brought in. Very disappointed that there was zero food left or reserved for us. We'd been there early to tech and it was a long day.. to be met with empty trays was insulting because we each paid $60 for our entrance tickets. That is pretty shabby treatment. - The after party dance floor is cement. This is not a good medium for dance shoes /suede bottoms that indoor dance shoes have. I don't know why the venue doesn't overlay an actual dance floor over the concrete. Floor was sticky and rough which took away from the experience. -Sad that the venue doesn't honor its commitments nor has considered who they rent to. Seems like they treat the paying guests as casual commodities without real needs. - Not a good recommendation but it's what was experienced. Very disappointed! read more

Came for a greek concert on a friday night. I have never been to a concert here so I didnt know what to expect. The tickets weren't too expensive so we were off to a good start. As I walked in, I noticed a lot of tables and chairs with not a lot of space. They cram the tables in here so it is crowded especially in the back. The bar areas are packed too but it wasnt terrible getting a drink. The place gets pretty lively as the music gets going and the drinks start flowing. They serve some small plates if you get hungry and we ordered the lamb souvlaki with fries. It was surprisingly good to be honest. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the fries had a great crunch. We had a couple issues though. First the drinks are pretty expensive. It is nyc but it isnt manhattan. Second, there was a leak in the ceiling and water was leaking on us while we were sitting at the table. It was terrible. Overall, it was a fun time and it definitely was a different experience for us. I am not dying to go back honestly but I cant say I wouldnt go back. Hopefully they fix the leak by then though. read more

This was a pretty disappointing event. I got there an hour after it started and there was still a line that stretched a couple of blocks (about a 45 minute wait on the line to get in). This is not a good way to start an event. When I finally got in the place was packed. It was difficult to move around. In fact it was so packed that the emcee explained that the upstairs VIP area was open to everyone. If I paid extra for a VIP ticket I would have been annoyed by this. Without going into too many details I thought that this event was sad. It seemed like they were most concerned with selling as many tickets as possible not with space. I was able to sample a few things along the way but none of the drinks were overly impressive, and I felt like many were just liquor samples and not actual cocktails. I wouldn't go back to another event that they run. read more

i have been here at the melrose ballroom in astoria a few times for events as its mostly greek oriented shows as in music performers, comedy and other entertainment events . my buddy and i had tickets for comedy night and thankfully it was in english and very funny. we had seats 6 rows from the stage and basically anywhere you sit the viewing is good as the seating capacity is about 600 for a show and depending on the event the tables set up is different per each event . clean well maintained place and the sound system makes for easy listening . The roof top lounge is nice when weather permits for private parties, events , etc . I will be back at the end of november as more comedic shows are being showcased (hope its in english) .overall a good place to see live entertainment and basically any seat is a good seat to see and hear the music and one liners . 4 stars on my yelp meter. read more

This venue was trash. All the employees were fighting with each other, we waited AN HOUR after the supposed start time of 10:30 to even start letting people in, and drinks were 18$ for a little cup. They let people stand on the chairs so if you're there to actually see an artist preform 1. Either go somewhere else or 2. Be prepared to either pay up for a table or have to look through drunk people standing up, falling over and fighting to even see the person preforming. Not to mention the artist's mic and earpiece stopped working halfway through the performance!! He had to stop and wait for them to get their s*** together! Beautiful venue, terrible sound system. We attended Project 46 here on June 6 and we were impressed by the decor, the lighting, and the overall venue. Unfortunately, the sound was only coming from two big speakers on the stage and it was drowned out. The show was 18+ and they were only serving water and non-alcoholic drinks downstairs, so we headed upstairs which was 21+. This venue has a lot of potential! I can foresee it being a great place for events, but if they want to have a concert or EDM show, there needs to be an upgrade in the sound system. read more

Sound system is great, front door not terribly douchey. The night I went it was 'all-ages' so they heralded 21+ to the 2nd floor and we were told that we can only drink up there. I really like this venue, and I was tempted to give it four stars, but just couldn't get myself to, and here's why: - Though this venue is great for concerts the truth is there aren't a lot of new accessible venues for special events so I find that this space is used for Gala's and panels and other special events a lot. Because that is the case, it should look the part. Brighter lighting is needed so that it doesn't look like a club all the time. - I hate the floors. It just gives the sense that they didn't even try. The floors are cement, and they make the place look tacky. - The price point. I've inquired about their sit down dinners and cocktail party's and they just think they are at a way higher tier than where they actually are. They provided me with Manhattan prices but industrial LIC views. Don't show me a rooftop where all I can see are smoke pipes and construction. I really feel like they need to work with the public a little more so that they can secure more customers, and so that the customer can have a good experience and therefore spread the word! read more

Don't bother going if you are expecting quality alcohol, our group made it very clear we wanted patron and McCallen cocktails, the waitress assured us she had those liquors but we definitely didn't get that ... this was the case with all the drinks we ordered .... they definitely serve the cheap stuff and act like you are getting what you ask for. Make sure if you buy a bottle here ask for the bottle to be brought to you sealed and watch the bottle server open it. read more

The club is stylish, spacious, and great for dancing. The video wall behind the stage is awesome, the lighting effects set the right mood, and the sound is thumping. Door check and coat check was quick and friendly. The problem I ran into was that we paid for VIP tickets with assigned seating near the front. When we arrived there were no tables anywhere. We had to stand the whole time. That's false advertising. Fortunately, there are comfortable couches in the basement near the restrooms. After the performing artists were done for the night, the DJ came on and played fairly good selection of dance classics. Sadly, the mixing was horrible. There was no attempt to match tempos or beats between tracks. It's as if we were listening to somebody play music from an iTunes playlist. It really killed the vibe. We noticed for this particular night the turnout was fairly subpar. There may have been 100 people at peak time. Promoters may need to do a better job at getting the word out. We only found out about the event a couple of weeks ahead of time. read more

Regardless of anything else, my purse was stolen (including my wallet and phone) the night I was here... so my experience was severely tainted. Wouldn't feel comfortable or safe going back. I contacted the venue and they were very nice, but I doubt there was much 'investigation' of the incident. Considering I paid $170 for my ticket and over $200 in alcohol, I would expect much much more. Still don't have the purse. read more

I came here recently for the Brazil in Concert this past weekend had a great time. For some strange reason, the venue made people wait over 20 mins to get into the empty ballroom. Despite the waiting in the cold for no reason, my friend and I were pleased with our Saturday night here. Very spacious venue so there's plenty of room for dancing. The place was covered in colorful decorations and the on-stage TV screens displayed footage from the Rio Carnival Parade. Definitely have to get to RIO next year for the real deal! Drinks were overpriced if you purchased the epic deal of the night: 5 Coronas for $45!! We ordered mixed drinks with Leblon which were super strong and clearly the better choice. Despite knowing only 5 words of Portuguese, we felt welcomed into this Brazilian Carnival party and couldn't stop dancing. The music was lively and loved the costumes people wore to the event. Melrose Ballroom was the perfect space for the festivities and hope to return here for another event soon. read more

Came here to support a friend of mine at the RAW New York Artists show. I was really turned off by the initial bag check before we were allowed in. Security searched my bag, took my water bottle and chucked it in the trash. There weren't signs saying drinks weren't allowed, and they didn't even ask if I wanted to finish it before going in. The lady checking our tickets before we got to the bag check could've told us, but nope. But whatever, I didn't buy any drinks from them while I was there because of that. The drinks looked ridiculously overpriced anyway, way to gentrify the neighborhood Melrose Ballroom. The venue itself was pretty nice. There's two main floors, and a cool rooftop lounge that was locked. The stairwells looked pretty cool, one of them could even act as a green screen because of the way it was painted. As for the event itself, the art being showcased was pretty cool and really varied. I would've liked to talk with some of the artists but the music was too loud. I'm not sure who's to blame for the overly loud music, but it was still a pretty cool show. Just wish security weren't such jerks about chucking people's water bottles. read more
