I went to melrose Pilates on my class pass... I been trying several classes around town... I have no problem going new places with new people but this was the only one I left and just paid the late/no show fee. I arrived 10 minutes early instead of the suggested 15... When I arrived there was already a class in progress... Not only was there nowhere to stand or sign in I got awkward stares from all 4 women in the class including the instructor. Not a "we are almost done" not a "welcome sign in here" not a word, nothing but weird vibes. So I spent the next 5 mins finding the bathroom then finding the bathroom key.. I had to ask the next door yoga studio for one of their loaner keys because the 4 times I crossed past melrose yoga doorway all I got was more unwelcoming rude looks. I couldn't be bothered to stick around to see what happened next, when the previous weird class was totally running overtime. I'm sorry but they can keep that $15 no show fee and their bad vibes I'll stick to the welcoming studios at 8am! Plus that parking lot is hell. read more

As a classpass holder, I've gone to a ton of different studios in LA and this was by the far the weirdest experience. The studio is hidden off of Fairfax so I was a few minutes late to class. The studio is outdated though the machines are nice. The instructor even had the nerve to eat during the class which was pretty distracting for me. She also proceeded to take care of studio procedures like taking out the trash-I found it completely unprofessional. In addition to all of the above, there was no music playing which made the energy of the class and studio rather awkward. I really hate to write a bad review & give a business such a low rating but I was totally disappointed. read more

Love Melrose Pilates! Classes are small, individualized and a great work-out. The studio is clean and the instructors are terrific! There is free parking with an attendant. Could not ask for more. read more

I've being doing pilates for 18 years and have tried many fitness studios and Melrose Pilates (formally Nyce Bodies) is the most fun I've ever had getting in shape. The instructors have a way of working you really hard without you knowing it. I love the people there and the parking is free. Oh, and the price is very affordable! read more

The best part about this studio is the small class size. There's about 6 machines in the studio so you can expect the instructors to pay more attention to all of the attendees. I took my first reformer class here and was very pleased. There is parking in the back but it can be minimal and tight at times. Overall, this was a good studio and I look forward to going back. read more

I agree with all that Rachel R said... Clean, fun, extremely professional & knowledgable instructors, awesome pricing, small class size. I love it. Check it out... read more

I'm pretty confused about what happens at this studio... The studio is on the second floor of a small business building, they do have parking in the back. I arrived a few minutes early so I could let the instructor know that I've only been doing pilates for a few months... The equipment is pretty jammed into a small room, but they certainly have everything from reformers to cadillacs, etc! There was no music playing, and even though there's a class scheduled before the one I was going to take, there didn't seem to be anyone taking a class. A few women were working out on 2 of the machines... and another woman was chatting with them about general life stuff... Someone else came in, said "hi" to the chatting women, and just got on a machine and started working out... Finally the standing "chatting" woman looked at me and said "are you new?". I realize the class sizes are "small" 1-5 people, and I've taken private classes before, but I've never had an instructor set up a machine, and leave me just sitting on it, then wander away to look at her phone for 5 minutes before coming back to help position me and instruct me in one exercise. Then she wandered away, and started chatting with the other women. I did see her set up another piece of equipment for one of the other woman, but she didn't appear to be "teaching". I would've given this place 1 star, but the when the "chatting-phone checking" instructor DID spend a moment with me, she was obviously really good at understanding pilates and explaining how to breath... too bad she spend a total of about 15 minutes of that hour actually doing any "teaching"... I realize I had a groupon, but isn't the point of Groupon to introduce people to your business? As someone new to pilates, I've been looking for a couple of different studios to use as my regular studios... but this won't be one of them!! read more

Average workout. The parking lot was full so I had to find street parking. The place is clean but a little run down.

Melrose Pilates is a great studio with wonderful energy run by a caring and knowledgeable owner and staffed by talented instructors. As someone who has been doing Pilates for a long time I have been to many studios in many cities across the world and I really enjoy the attention to detail, ability to work with clients' different needs, and overall dedication to the art/science that is Pilates found at Melrose Pilates. I have worked with Gia, the owner, and she is a great person and a conscientious teacher. I have also worked with Shana and Abbe, both of whom have impressive backgrounds and really know what they are doing/how to effectively teach. I have yet to train with Courtney; however I hope to do so very soon! Melrose Pilates is an intimate studio setting which I appreciate as you feel like part of a community rather than just another body coming to pay for a service. Everyone there really seems to care about the clients, and that is so important when doing body work. I have also been the beneficiary of some great pricing/package specials that the studio runs, which has enabled me to stay in shape without breaking the bank (soooo important in these financial times). Not often does one find quality and the right price in the same place, so that has been a special find! Seriously, get going and get in shape in a wonderful place where you will see results, feel wonderful about yourself and meet discerning, well-trained instructors who will take you to the next level of your practice, help you to begin an effective Pilates regimen, or anything you want. Enjoy the fantastic experience that is Melrose Pilates!!! Great for anyone from age 5 to 95!!! read more

I came with a Groupon. Teachers were OK. Wouldn't go back. I had a 5-class pack. Didn't feel any improvements. There are other Pilates studios to spend a lot of money on. read more

Pilates at a great price, fantastic teachers, clean - bright studio! Gia the owner is generous soul and that creates a warm friendly vibe! I have seen great results from going twice a week and now I am stronger than ever and body looks and feels fantastic! Thank-you Melrose Pilates! read more

Really like this studio. I feel like the workouts are challenging and fun. Great teachers.

I have been going to this studio on and off for about a year. The class size is small, no more than 4 students at a time. I initially came in with horrible back pain. Actually my chiropractor recommended pilates. Right away, Shana (my favorite instructor) was there for me. Some of my lessons felt more one on one as opposed to a group. Following about 10 sessions my back was in much better shape. I have tried other studios and can tell you that this is the place if you are serious about pilates and want to reap the most benefit from your sessions. FYI: sometimes you can find this place on Groupon read more

Shauna Michele teaches a semi-private amazing class with music that is second to none. I took two classes of hers in a row. I am not sore and I actually feel in control my core! She was able to explain to me what was happening with my body and helped me create an inner dialogue with each exercise allowing me to set myself up for maximum alignment. She was able to see the areas I needed work on and help me be mindful of the work. read more

I have to start with saying I've taken Pilates at almost every studio in LA. My first time back to Pilates since a knee injury and Sarah was my teacher. The class was a semi private and she went above and beyond with being incredibly conscience of rehabbing my knee, rather than overworking it. Very technical and incredibly educated on the muscles and movements involved in all the Pilates techniques. Awesome class and teacher and I will be back! This is not the fanciest studio, but the machines are nice and clean and the workout is really what you are there for. ;) read more

The new teacher, Emily Barnett, was AMAZING!!!!! Love her teaching style. Helpful, patient, and some amazing zen energy. One of the owners was there, and she was not as fun to interact with. Small studio, with great views and great opportunities for a small class with teacher interaction. read more

Shauna is just the best! I Michael is also great. I am a regular here after checking out tons of studios with Class Pass. They have the reformer, cadillac, chair, etc. Great studio! There's even free parking in the back. read more

I love this Pilates Studio. It feels like what I imagine to be old school, traditional, pure pilates. Renee and Shana are both so knowledgable, in tune and hands on. Only 5 reformers, so it does feel like a private session because everyone gets attention. The space is clean and simple. Its always a challenging workout and there's a lot of emphasis on form, which I appreciate. My knee pain and back pain are practically gone since I started here with classpass. I definitely try to hit my 3 per month. highly recommend! People on here who deduct stars for a full parking lot need to relax and park on the street, its really not a big deal. People who deduct stars for no music are not really understanding what this is about, which is breathing, core-strengthing and form. more in the vibe of yoga and less of an EDM-y high energy bootcamp or some pilates hybrid workout. read more

I don't know how many ways I can say that I love this studio. The owners, the teachers, the location. It's amazing and I feel at home and comfortable every time I'm there. They are so hands on, even the most seasoned Pilates student will learn from this team. I look forward to every single work out! read more

LOVED my pilates class with Sara this morning. She is specific, skilled and someone that just has a knack for teaching!!! Thank you Melrose Pilates for having such a great teacher on your staff. Small groups are the BEST! read more

Love the small class sizes. Instructors are good and I always find a muscle I forgot about that ends up sore for a couple days

Shauna is the best Pilates instructor I've ever had. She's really nice and attentive and caring with her students and she pays a lot of attention to injuries, which is great. Also, English is not my first language and she knows I sometimes don't understand the exercises so she always makes sure that I'm doing them correctly. I really appreciate it. Thanks, Shauna! read more

Shauna is amazing!!!! She always pays attention to every students needs and limits. She make class fun with great music and her encouraging up beat personality. She works all the muscles I forgot I had! She definitely gives a great NEW workout every time. read more

Melrose Pilates is one of my favorite studios in LA. The location is great and the studio has a fantastic vibe that makes the work out even better. I take semi-private lessons with Shauna Michele and she is incredible. She has been working with me over the past couple months and every time I leave her class I feel ready to take on the world. She pays detailed attention to everyone's level and progress and carries that over from class to class to make sure she is giving you a workout that is effective and beneficial to your specific body. I can both see and feel the changes my body is going through since starting with her and I absolutely love it. On top of all that she has an amazing personality, makes you feel extremely comfortable while still challenging you to push yourself and plays great music throughout. Take her class..you will not regret it! read more

Very nice little pilates studio, small groups taught by professionally trained, knowledgeable instructors. I honestly can't pick my favorite one simply because all of them are excellent. It's a perfect place for a beginner or someone who is more athletically advanced - the instructors do pay special attention to everyone's physical needs/concerns. read more

Awesome place. Tried a few Pilates studios and now I am a devotee to this place. The class sizes are small, you get individual attention (you can even do the Cadillac in these group sessions which is rare). Each of the instructors is awesome - Shana is incredible and is also an acrobat! Incredible! Renee and Jocelyn are awesome as well. They really understand the mechanics of the body and aren't just going through the motions. Great studio, great vibe, great people. Huge thumbs up! read more

this is a hidden jewel. there are only four reformers, 2 cadillacs, one chair, and some other great looking machine. if u r new you will get excellent attention, and if u are advanced u will get excellent attention. there are two instructors. shana and holly, and they are very different, and they boh offer different styles, and individual attention. they actually watch each and every one to correct, and talk u through it. they even change the weights for you for your indiviual level. with only four reformers, and sometimes, only 2 in a class, u truly get a lot of attention in every single class, not just some instruction telling u what to do. i go 6 days a week, as im addicted. and did i mention free parking. read more

I have some major back issues and started my pilates journey through physical therapy. Eventually my insurance cut me off PT so I found Melrose Pilates through Yelp and gave it a try. This is my first experience with a pilates studio, so I have nothing else to compare it to, but I LOVE going here and try to do it at least twice a week. I go to an 8:30 am class and parking is never a problem. My first class was with Renee and she gave me plenty of attention, as did Shana when I took her class. They are both very knowledgeable and I love that I learn different things from each of them. I have also had substitutes a few times and they have also been wonderful. I am a no-frills kind of person so I don't need the studio to be beautiful to get a great workout... it is very practically laid out and accommodates a max of about 8 people. 5 reformers and 3 cadillacs, but the class sizes are 1-5 people. There are also regulars who work out on their own. As I've been going there for a while now, I have developed relationships with some of the other women who I see regularly and we chat while we work out, which makes it more enjoyable. I highly recommend this studio! read more

My favorite instructor was Shauna Michele - she was amazing! She is very attentive and really pays attention to every students I highly recommend every students to take her class! read more

Melrose pilates is a workout that I always look forward to. First, there's free parking with an attendant. Second, the classes are small (no more than 5 students) so they can really pay attention to form and personalize the workouts a bit. Shana, Shauna and Renee are all wonderful instructors who really know what they're talking about. Even though you're laying down most of the workout, my inner thighs and abs are often sore the next day. read more

Great pilates studio, one of the best I've tried. Between the small class sizes and great instructors, it feels like a private session. If I can't perform one of the exercises, they are great about giving me a modified form of the exercise. read more

I've been taking classes with Shauna who is really a great instructor. She is very patient but also challenges you in a good way!

just wanted to let you know how great this studio is. i just moved here a few months ago, and have tried MANY studios, and this one is top notch. gia the owner is kind and helpful, and will steer you in the right direction re:teachers. she keeps a small but clean and comfortable studio, and free parking! my FAVE teacher is by far Courtney, or AB Queen, as i like to call her. she will strengthen your core in NO TIME! she is sweet but tough, and she will work your butt of for one hour. i drive an hour to get there 2-3 times a week for this gal. you won't be disappointed. great rates too. ENJOY!! read more
