This is a really cute shop, I've brought in some leather Boulet's before to get rubber soles and they did a fantastic job. No issues - The receptionist is so lovely, I adore her. However - I did bring some Maison Margiela tabi ballerinas and tabi loafer mules in and I can't say that the workmanship was just as phenomenal. They were fairly new shoes -- only worn a few times prior to bringing in. Some of the leather towards the bottom of the shoe where it meets the sole had been rubbed/sanded off (painful) I had to cut a piece to smooth it out. The rubber sole was cut unevenly and black marks inside the shoes. Overall, a very sloppy job on these IMO. Heartbroken. If you care about your designer shoes maybe reconsider.

It was my first time trying this place and I haven't been to a shoe repair shop for years. I was told when I picked up my pair of Gucci shoes that I was under charged for the kind of repair that was needed. Both attendants were pleasant and professional. I was happy with the service. Please was very organizing clean. I definitely will continue to support this local business..

Brought in my birks to get resolved. Greg, who's been a cobbler for more than 40 years, did a great job to not just resole (opted for vibram) but also reseal the cork and clean the suede leather. Feels great and better than new!

Great job sealing the bottom of my Christian Louboutins with sturdy material from Italia so they don't scuff!

Great business with lovely owners, a truly talented cobbler! I have had my Christian Louboutins and their red bottoms sealed every near pair I get so they don't scuff, unfortunately the prior cobbler I went to in SF has closed down business. I brought a new pair of Louboutins & a pair of Jimmy Choos in to get their bottoms sealed. 100/10 job, excellent work and my red bottoms look amazing! I will be coming here for all my future designer shoe and bag repairs/ when I buy more red bottoms to have sealed this is the place to go! He buys the material from Italia, the same red material but stronger so that it doesn't scuff the bottoms. The prices are fantastic, I'm so glad I stumbled upon this hidden gem!

After trying to find a nearby cobbler to fix my red bottoms I am super happy I found Mel's! I came by on a Saturday and dropped them off easily. I mentioned I needed my heel stems replaced due to wear down. You could hear me walking from a mile away from the metal part clanking on the ground. I dropped off my heels and was given a tag. Mel's was so accommodating and easy to work with. They really cater to their customers. He asked when I needed them and he would have it done. Since I was in the area I called just to see if my heels were ready and they were a day early! Woo! Parking can be tough since there's tons of shops and eateries. Pricing is affordable and they do an awesome job. I tried to fix them myself using YouTube and totally failed. Don't be a hero and let the professionals do it.

Great job on getting my house running again. A bit steep on price but I just can't put a price on comfortable shoes.

Excellent service. Greg fixed my backpack while I waited and it only took a few minutes. It cost a very reasonable $10.

When working in the city I would sometimes drop them of at places there just for convenience but nothing as good as The Cobblers. Not only a shoe repair place but a store for boots, work boots, hats, coats etc. I even stock up on Shoe Goo here for my Merrill running shoes with the sole that can't be replaced but was told it would be more expensive if they did it so just get the Shoe Goo. This place has been around since the late 50's and run by the same family.  Shoe repair is an art that won't get taken over by AI. The only thing that will put a place like this out of business is disposable shoes and clothes.  We are not there yet for the nice stuff. So once again my partner needed heels on her boots and since nothing local it's of to Hayward. $20 up front and a few days later boots look as good as new. New heels and all polished up. So for the ladies not sure if ya'll in the clackety heel camp or the more cushie no clack camp, but they have both. My partner is in the clackety camp. You can get hear her coming on a tile floor a mile away. So not just heels but resoles and all types of repairs. There is free parking on the street and in the back. Go there, it'll be great.

I first reached out to Rick on Yelp and he actually responded even though the shop was closed and it was his day off. He told me to stop by for a quote, and when I came in he took the time to look over everything carefully and explain my options. My Honda S2000 convertible top is shrinking and the rear glass had fallen off, which is not an easy job. Rick offered to glue the glass back in at a very fair price, but he was very honest and said he couldn't guarantee it would hold because the top is shrinking. What really impressed me was that he said if the glue repair doesn't work, he would credit the cost of that repair toward a full top replacement. That level of honesty and fairness is hard to find. He also looked at my seats and told me that if I bring in seat covers, he can wrap them for me, and he gave me a fantastic quote for that work as well. Rick was extremely patient and let me ask a ton of questions without ever making me feel rushed. You can tell he really knows his craft and cares about doing things the right way. I also saw some of the other cars he was working on and the quality of his work looked excellent. He is busy (for good reason), but he was still able to fit me into his schedule about two weeks out. I'm really excited to have him work on my S2000 and get the car looking brand new again. It's not easy to find honest shops anymore, but Rick is definitely one of the good ones.

I searched Yelp and found this business (which had pretty good reviews) back in March, 2026. I spoke to Ed, on the phone to get the 411 on how it works with him. I had to leave a voicemail. He called me back fairly promptly. A week or two later we were in Pleasanton, so I suggested to my husband we drop by his shop to finalize the replacement cushions. We took one of the cushions in to his shop so he could take measurements and we could pick out a density of the replacement foam. So he got the measurements and we picked out the density we wanted and got aquote. He said it will take about a week to get the cushions and he will contact us. Great! We waited to hear from him, finally in the third week my husband tried to contact him via text and left a voicemail. We waited and waited and waited. I thought he's a one man show , he must be busy. I finally contacted him again June 3 (text and voicemail) and waited. I do believe he has ghosted us (as my kids say). Definitely do not recommend a business who does not have the common courtesy to return a voicemail or text. Definitely frustrating. I will resume my search. Thanks for reading to the end of my tale.

About 18 months ago, the soles on both began to disintegrate. (On close inspection, the hard plastic soles on these designer sandals looked "cheap" and unworthy of their high price.) Nick successfully resoled both pair with Vibram soles (the kind on most hiking boots) and made them look & function better than the originals. Fast forward to a month ago, and I discovered that the leather toe thong on one sandal had frayed. In the ensuing period since he had last worked on them, we had moved 500 miles away (to Oregon). Rather than entrust the needed repair to a new, local shop, I decided to call Nick in San Ramon. Nick answered the phone and was quite accommodating. "Yes, ship them on down and we'll fix 'em." I shipped the sandals in need of repair from Corvallis, OR on 15 December, and they arrived back to me on 14 January. As with the resoling, Nick's repair was better than the original! Lastly, I feel compelled to speak out regarding some of the overly negative reviews posted. I have learned (often the hard way) there are two sides to every story. Nick has chosen not to reply to his reviews, positive or negative, which is his right. However, the vicious comments such as, he ruined my designer hand bag or priceless shoes would seem to me to be over-reactions. I have used Nick for over 10 years and his work has always been spot-on. I've taken items to him to which he has told me, "there's not a lot I can do for this, but I'll give it a try, if you'd like me to." In short, his majority 4-5 star reviews IMHO speak a lot louder than the few descriptions of horrendous experiences.
