It is hard to find a great upholstery shop. We last went to a European Master Craftsman years ago in Lafayette but he retired. Lucky for us because 15 years ago he was 1-1/2 times more expensive than what we paid recently at a different shop for better quality material and similar craftsmanship. We found Tri-Valley Upholstery (TVU) in Pleasanton after searching and doing some research. My wife reached out via e-mail to inquire about the work we needed and later followed up with pictures. Tri-Valley gave us an estimate and we scheduled an appointment to bring in one chair for evaluation and finalized specifics. We met with Eduardo who was very helpful, energic and enthusiastic. We picked out the material, received a sample, approved the material and scheduled the project. TVU did a beautiful job on reupholstering 6 chairs with a really nice piece of leather. Seats are taunt, tucked perfectly around the chair backs and the bead is spot on. There was a real minor tweak on 3 chairs that TVU took care of quickly. Dropped the chairs off and the next morning they were completed. Eduardo and his team are talented, very responsive, knowledgeable and produce quality work to make customers happy. We have been trying to get a call back from Ed, the owner (I think), to no avail. We needed to get our sofa cushions replaced. I searched Yelp and found this business (which had pretty good reviews) back in March, 2026. I spoke to Ed, on the phone to get the 411 on how it works with him. I had to leave a voicemail. He called me back fairly promptly. A week or two later we were in Pleasanton, so I suggested to my husband we drop by his shop to finalize the replacement cushions. We took one of the cushions in to his shop so he could take measurements and we could pick out a density of the replacement foam. So he got the measurements and we picked out the density we wanted and got aquote. He said it will take about a week to get the cushions and he will contact us. Great! We waited to hear from him, finally in the third week my husband tried to contact him via text and left a voicemail. We waited and waited and waited. I thought he's a one man show , he must be busy. I finally contacted him again June 3 (text and voicemail) and waited. I do believe he has ghosted us (as my kids say). Definitely do not recommend a business who does not have the common courtesy to return a voicemail or text. Definitely frustrating. I will resume my search. I have an upholstered bed with upholstered side rails on both sides. Unfortunately, the side rail on one side of the bed cracked when it was plopped down on too roughly and I didn't know who to go to to repair it - the original store (Crate and Barrel) was completely useless. Fortunately I found Tri Valley Upholstery. I send them pictures of the damaged rail and made a "reservation" to bring it in the following week to be worked on right away so as to have as brief a down downtime as possible. Ed at Tri Valley was great - I brought it in on a Tuesday and was able to pick it up on Thursday beautifully repaired for what I felt was a very reasonable price considering the work that had to be done and the excellent job they did. I went in to ask for an estimate on reupholstering some Knoll sling couch cushions. The person measured everything, took my information, and said he would email me an estimate within a few days. Eduardo and his team were great! I had a new ottoman that I wanted cut in half, since I had rearranged my living space and the full-size ottoman didn't fit. I searched but didn't find anything smaller that I liked, and the existing ottoman was part of a set that included a loveseat and chair. With extra supplies that I sourced from the manufacturer, they were able to take my one big ottoman and give me back two narrower ones that now fit my space. And they still match the other items! I used them to repair the bottom of my seat from my car. I had some missing rings that hold the bottom part of the chair in place and Eduardo and his team were able to fabricate the missing pieces and attach them securely. I had 12 large cushions for outside furniture that needed recovering with Sunbrella fabric. I live in Pleasanton and was delighted to find we have such expertise right here on our doorsteps. Carols provided two books of Sunbrella fabrics and told me of an alternative manufacturer, but a little more pricey, so I stuck to the Sunbrella choices. I chatted with Carols and learnt about his family, met Lynn and learnt a little more about her and left feeling confident. I returned the book with my fabric choice to them, and within 5 days they had sourced the fabric, requested all my cushions be brought to their location, and a week later they werel completed. I had also asked Carols to make some Kidney Pillows and he decided on the size for those - they were perfect. Carols and Lynn's smiles were as big as mine when I collected. Highly recommend. Beautiful chairs from the 30's were handed down to us and I wanted to have them reupholstered to use in our living room. I was told there would be several months wait before they could get to them, which extended into several more due to Covid. But the wait was definitely worth the finished product. In the meantime, Ann graciously helped select the right fabric from an extremely large selection available. In the end, they glued chair arms that lifted, put in new webbing so it was an even, no-sink seat and the craftsmanship in the fabric placement and tacking was superb. Phillip worked on two tables for me and did a fantastic job! The first job was to refinish the old family coffee table. We couldn't believe how beautifully it turned out. And he was even able to add an especially durable finish we requested. Then, as an afterthought I asked him to repair a small end table. All I was looking for was to keep it from wobbling. Not only did he restore functionality, he charged me the lower end of his estimate and fixed a water stained spot without extra charge! Everyone at the shop was super friendly. They did it again!! Twice in the previous four years I took a small item of furniture to these folks for a repair. My previous reviews reflect my VERY high opinion of their work and customer service. About a week ago I had the need for a similar repair. I freely admit to often being a picky customer but Tri Valley Upholstery is aces! They promptly fixed my problem on the spot and the price was more than reasonable. An example of why their work is so good was exhibited when the proprietor did the work, but took the time and care to show one of his newer associates how it was done. This is a late review as I had my chair and ottoman reupholstered in February 2018. But I definitely wanted to give this as Carlos was so nice and patient! We recently moved from our San Jose home (which was smaller and had a more rustic, dark wood trim throughout) to Pleasanton... and a lot of our furniture and decor didn't go with our new home. We had recently purchased this reclining chair and ottoman from Macy's upholstered in a print that looked great in our other house, but totally clashed with our new home that was brighter, with white trim and grey-stained floors, new decor and furniture to match. We didn't want to sell the chair and ottoman, so I was lucky to have found Tri Valley Upholstery in my new town. I went into their store and they had walls full of shelves of sample books. Lynn let me take a lot of different books of upholstery samples home. It took a couple batches of sample books to find the right one. (And they were very patient. It took me months to decide on one.). Once I found it, it was just a matter of putting a deposit down (so they can buy the fabric) and waiting in the queue (as they were super busy). I wasn't in a rush, so it was fine. As soon as they had the fabric and had the time to work on mine, Carlos came to the house and picked up the furniture. They worked on it for a few weeks and called me when it was done. I went to the store and paid the balance and Carlos delivered them back to the house within the next hour! The chair and ottoman look amazing and the fabric I picked out made it even more comfy and soft! My kids like to sit in it with their blankets and relax while watching TV (even though there's a huge couch in the same room). It's a family business and they definitely treated me like I was a good friend. They were patient and upfront with the costs, with no extra surprises. Great customer service overall! If I need other services that relate to upholstery (as they can also do curtains, seat cushions, etc), I will definitely give them my business! read more

Super nice, friendly and attentive service and great results. They took a leather storage ottoman that I mistakenly thought was at least a decent piece of furniture- it's not. I had fixed it several times with gorilla glue and toothpicks as the hinge screws had ripped out of the fake wood when I had once put too much stuff inside and sat down on it ... ouch. Anyway, I had gotten the lid structure fixed by Sue of "Labor of Love" Furniture Restoraation (she's great, by the way)- in fixing the lid stricture where the hinges attach, she had to pull back the upholstery. Once she was done, the leather upholstery needed to be re-attached/fixed. She recommended TV Upholstery, said they were great in every way- she was right. They were able to put the upholstery back as good as new- I also was out of patience to re-attach the lid to the base using 3 hinges and 2 slow close, complicated air hinges- so I had them put that together for me. The leather re-install was $85 and the re-attach to the 5 various hinges was $115, for a grand total of $200. Not cheap, but definitely not outrageous. I think it was fair, especially given in these parts, everything we have, need, consume is $$$. The best part is they told me it could be up to 2 weeks, which I understood but was mildly bummed- not at them- just wanted this back so I could get that room back together. I got a call early on the 4th day, and they were done. They knocked it out in essentially 3 days. I was beyond delighted! So (fast) service that they over-delivered on- how often does that happen anymore?_ great quality work and super nice, honest people. Not only would I go here again and recommend them to anyone ... I'm kind of wishing we had something else they could go to work on. Maybe soon we'll buy a classic piece knowing they can work their magic. They open up a world of possibilities. in closing ... I must admit upfront I was a little nervous about getting my work done here because the shop is under new ownership. Boy, were my concerns unfounded! I think Anne and her new team are absolutely amazing! From wonderful assistance with the selection of fabric (Anne is a designer), to the delivery of the product - the customer service was off the hook! However, the real bottom line is that the craftsmanship was perfect and really top notch! What a spectacular transformation! Another hesitancy I initially had was that reupholstering can seem pricey. Yet my family is not of small stature so having safe chairs is absolutely essential so we can never by cheap-cheap. We spent some time looking at new (even supposed high end shops) but they were so poorly put together and had such cheap/weak components that we could not justify the purchase. So we took the chance at reupholstery. Boy are we glad we did! I can honestly say my new chairs are not only worth it, but when comparing them to current products on the market - instead of costing hundreds of dollars, I learned their competitors would be in the thousands. The added bonus of course being the re-purposing of old family furniture and helping the environment. Its a win-win-win in our book. My husband wants to do more furniture and if you knew my husband you would appreciate what a compliment this is for the team. Needless to say we are thrilled and we will be back. read more

Last year I had my sofa recovered by Tri Valley Upholstery and the results were perfect. Just recently a friend spilled wine on two cushions. I took them to Carlos to ask what I should do. He said the sugar in the wine would discolor the cushions with time. Carlos had VIP cleaners (next door) clean the covers after he took out the insides. They came out like new. Brought in a Pottery Barn rocking chair that had broken. There was a piece of fabric that acted as support for the seat cushion. Not a good design and it had broken. They told me they could fix and and it would take a couple of weeks. However when I called to check on the chair they told me they didn't want to do the repair as we had discussed. They wanted to make it BETTER! They took the time to look at the problem and came up with a repair that made the chair more secure and guaranteed it wouldn't break again...all for the original price that they quoted. They could have just did what I asked for. They could have charged me more for the repair. A small thing perhaps but finding a business that has integrity and truly wants what is best for their customers is rare but you will find it here. A great small family business! read more
