I have a 3 year old with cerebral Palsy. He is super tight. I can only describe it as a tightly wound rubber band. Tonia was absolutely amazing with Akili. She came to our home and made it super convenient. I don't trust any one with my son. She had him so relaxed. I am going to continue to see Tonia to work with Akili. I will sing her praises from the roof top

I came not expecting too much. I left with some great insight. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

This is my first time coming to see Tsadae. Her business is in a plaza with parking and she shares the space with an acupuncturist. Tsadae is there every Thursday and Friday and alternating Sundays. She is very responsive via text and is very understanding if you need to reschedule as we know sometimes things come up in our pregnancies that we don't anticipate! During my massage she was very professional and was able to give my body pain relief in my lower back. I also felt relaxed afterwards and felt like my body could move more freely. She helped released tension in my neck and shoulders as well since that's where I hold all my stress. She has pillows to help you feel comfortable on your side while she massages you and a wedge pillow for when you sit up for her to massage your neck and upper back. I definitely recommend her!

Dr. Tang is a gem in Oakland Chinatown - he's the latest in a long line of traumatologists (in…read moreCantonese "Tiet-Dah") who learned how to treat injuries from his father, who learned it from his father, back a couple of generations! Turns out his dad has his own clinic a few doors down! Simon trained in Hong Kong, lived here for a couple decades and thus speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, and English pretty fluently. He is great at what he does and charges reasonably for what he can accomplish. Today's visit for my chronic neck injuries lasted about 30-40 minutes (I didn't keep track of time but it was less than an hour) and involved some history taking, examination, education on specific exercises I could do for wrist and shoulder injuries, then a focused deep tissue massage, and application of a heated herbal poultice. Dr. Tang has a great bedside manner and is focused (he massages each tenderpoint for 1-3 minutes, on a timer). All this for $80. He's much better than the Tiet-Da doctors I went to in Hong Kong. In general, daily treatment for acute injuries can get you better within a few treatments (depending on severity) and longstanding chronic injuries typically resolve with daily treatment for about three weeks. I've had some promising results, I will be back tomorrow!

It was more of a vigorous deep tissue massage that was focused on the area of pain and stretching and lasted maybe 15 minutes. He then applied a poultice. There was only one pot on his stove, and he didn't do any traditional tongue or pulse diagnosis, which tells me it's something he "prescribes" for everyone with pain. I did not get any pain relief from the treatment. I am disappointed because I wanted and expected Traditional Chinese medicine but got some other kind of hybrid treatment. Maybe it works for some, but, unlike what I love about Chinese medicine, and like what I don't love about western medicine, it seemed too limited and impersonal for me. However, Mr. Tang himself is very nice.

I had a humerus fracture and some tendon fraying in the shoulder, etc. Because I had to wear a sling for three months for the bone to heal, my shoulder's range of motion got severely limited. No fun. In a recent sports acupuncture session, Chris used several techniques with his targeted, perceptive approach. During the session, my range went from 70 degrees to over 100 degrees. Such a breakthrough! AND the next day after I swam some breaststroke laps in the pool, I tested the arm's range again. I was able to move my arm snow-angel style (slightly angled from my hip) all the way to touch my other hand over my head. Woot woot! This was nearly 180 degrees. I was so happy and amazed!! I am so thankful for the experience and thoughtfulness that Chris brings to treatment. He always explains what he is doing and checks in and collaborates with me as he goes. I am also doing traditional physical therapy, where I have seen slow, incremental gains. But my acupuncture treatment at OCA has really shot my progress forward! Chris is incredibly dedicated and astute with his treatments and is great to work with. I also work with Jen at OCA, who excels at targeted shoulder work and overall body health. (Pro tip - regular 60-minute acupuncture sessions are great; and the 90-minute sports acupuncture sessions are excellent, and well worth the occasional wait in scheduling). Chris and the OCA team are fantastic!!

I came in dealing with a few issues after a long 30-mile bike ride, including knee discomfort, shoulder tightness, lower left back pain, and a recently twisted left ankle. Diego took the time to really listen and understand what was going on, and his approach felt thoughtful and intentional from the start. I left the session feeling amazing, noticeably more relaxed, and with a clear improvement in how my body felt overall. The care was thorough and effective, and I genuinely felt the difference right away. I would absolutely recommend Diego to anyone looking for skilled, attentive acupuncture care.
