Can we give half a star? Like many others have reported, Melton seems to have gotten their $100 for the service call from American Home Shield (AHS) and then GONE. Rich came out last Wed evening around 7pm and haven't heard from him since. We have a leak in our water heater and afraid that it will rupture and flood our basement. We've talked to AHS and they approved the repair last Thurs/Friday. Emails to Melton go unanswered and you cannot leave a VM as their outgoing message just says email is the faster way to get a response. I don't consider what we're experienced so far as anything close to fast. :-( read more

our toilet got clogged and our Hsa home warranty sent someone from this company the guy didn't fix the problem he said something was clogged in the toilet it's self and left , I hired a local company and they only charged me 50 dollars when I paid 100 for the hsa warranty loss of 100 dollars but there wasn't nothing clogged in the toilet come to find out he pushed whatever it was down the pipes and called it quits didn't lift the toilet or an thing the local company fixed the problem I would not recommend this company!!! read more

I was referred to Melton from AHS house insurance for a stoppage in the kitchen sink. I was told that there was a possible cracked/broken pipe, and will be notified if our home insurance plan will authorize the repair. This was on a Wednesday. On Friday, I left a message at their office to call me for an update during office hours. Still no contact, so I left another (slightly aggressive but professional) phone call on Monday (5 days later). They responded back within 15min and was quite rude. They said the job was completed and to call AHS. They do not repair cracked pipes and blamed AHS for not following up. I called AHS and they reported that Melton just put their report in less than an hour after talking to them on the phone. So now I have to restart the whole process again. Very disappointing. But after reading all the negative reviews, not surprised at all. read more

My toilet needed to be repaired and my home warranty sent them out they came finally on 11/4 and looked at the toilet and left you can't get in touch with them by phone you only get an "on call rep" and they never call back they tell you to email them au asktheplumber@melton.plumbing.com so I did never heard back and the home warranty company American Home Shield is just as bad after paying my service fee and 3 weeks later my toilet was still not fixed I finally had to pay out of pocket to get my toilet repaired !! read more

Just absolutely terrible. My first appointment with them they were an hour and a half late. The guy called me annoyed because I had to leave to make a meeting. I rescheduled and sure enough they didn't even show for the second appointment. I called and they tried to accuse me of lying saying the plumber marked it as complete. Never apologized or anything. I then decided to just go with another company. After leaving this review on Google, Melton Plumbing texted me threatening to have their attorney contact me and take me to court for this review. They also marked my service with them as "complete" with my Home Warranty Company even though no one ever came to my house or did any services. This has been the most bizarre experience ever. These guys came out through my insurance and they were really great. They saved me $150 and even helped me return some parts for my sink to Lowe's that I didn't realize were used. They were quick, wore booties over their shoes when I asked, and very respectful to me and my home. I hate that they have such low reviews because I really enjoyed working with them. read more

This is the company that my home warranty sent out. Now, looking at their ratings, I would have never used them. I see why their ratings are so low. They sent out a plumber who could not tighten a loose toilet tank or stop a simple water leak in the tub. He blamed it on not having the right parts. A plumber is sent to your house without such a simple parts? Then, he left without even telling me he was leaving. He forgot to turn the main water supply back on. Melton Plumbing was subcontracted twice (unfortunately) by Lowe's to deliver and install a dishwasher to our house and both times they failed to show up. It's also impossible to contact them, as their contact number announces that they won't respond to calls. I tried e-mail too and they never responded. As Lowe's said, these guys are the lowest price and you definitely get what you pay for... which is nothing in our case! Avoid them like covid!!! read more

Simply put, this place is shouldnt be allowed to call themselves plumbers. I had a clog with water backing up into my bathtub. everytime I ran my washer or dishwashe, water would fill up in the bathtub, which made sense because all these lines are connected. I called my home warranty company who is also terrible, American Home Shield, and they sent me Melton plumbing. this company sent an auger down the main drain of my bathtub and broke one of the pipes due to the piping being old, this was not noticed, until later, of course with no proof, they did not hold themselves liable, they then told me that they noticed bubbling coming out of the tub. Meaning, it was a venting issue. The bubbling we noticed was from the crack they had created, allowing water to then go out onto the slab underneath the home. I then had to call the venting company to come out and pay even more money to confirm that it was indeed, not a venting issue. I then called my home warranty company and told him this the recent out Milton plumbing, who came out in again did nothing to help. The issue at this time told me that it must be a water main that is backed up and that it would require be ripping my floors up. Finally, I paid out of pocket to get an actual plumbing company to come out. They simply ran an auger from the washer, drain through the lines and found that it was hair that had clog up the drain. A simple fix that cost me $200 but because of the incompetence of Melton, I had to pay an additional $1700. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I am a retired fireman, and I believe in honesty in this company is absolute trash. They could care less about helping people. They want their money and they couldnt be worse at their jobs. read more

I had a water heater installed on April 1st 2022. I guess the joke was on me. The guy did a great job installing and promised to remove the old tank the next day. He claimed he needed help removing even though he brought the new one in with a dolly. Why he couldn't take the old one out with the dolly, I have no idea. They would not respond to me or my insurance company. I have contacted the BBB, Attorney General, Channel 2 and 7. I had to pay someone else to remove the old tank a month later. I usually don't pay until the work is completed, but he insisted he needed pay half way through the job. I would not recommend them to anyone if they need a water heater installed. No one needs the stress. :( I wish I had read the reviews before I allowed them the job. I complained so much to my insurance company that they gave me half of my service fee back. read more

AHS warranty referred us to Melton plumbing for a newly discovered leak in our home. Plumber came out within a couple of days and stated that the job would require floor to be jack hammered to fix it. Said he would be back in touch with us after he updated warranty company. We heard NOTHING for a couple of weeks. Finally after a couple of attempts to reach, got a call. Said they would schedule for today, and I would get a call evening before with arrival window. Heard nothing. Have texted, called and emailed. You can not reach anyone. Only get an answering service. No one has shown up, no one has called. I will be filing dispute/complaint with AHS and also the BBB if we do not have anyone show up before the end of the day. How is this company in business if this is how they work?? Update: never heard back from my text, message left or my email. They have ghosted me. Filed complaint with AHS and have been assigned a new plumber. Now we get to start over. read more

Used through home warranty service for gas water heater replacement. Came out on a Monday and attempted to fix. Took all pictures, and submitted claim on Tuesday. Replaced on Thursday. Did cost $370 out of pocket for modifications + the home warranty company's $75 deductible, however they replaced lines, installed new gas shutoff, new flue, drip pan, and regulator. The earlier reviews are all spot-on. I was given a window of 2-6 p.m., they showed up at noon instead and I was not at the property. They texted later in the day that a tech was trying to reach me to see if I was there, I said I was. I waited three hours, no one showed and I left. Never heard again from the company. On June 17, 2021 American Home Shield sent Melton Plumbing to replace our sump pump. The following morning we left on a 2 week vacation, returning July 4th to discover our basement flooded. We contacted Melton Plumbing and they came on July 6th, confirmed the pump installed 6/17 was defective, and replaced it. They took pictures of all water damaged walls, carpet and property, and advised we would be contacted by their insurance company in 'a couple of days'. That never happened, and since then, despite numerous phone calls, emails and text messages, they have refused to respond. Further, as a result of the earlier defective sump pump being in place for the 2 weeks we were gone, mold was now apparent everywhere the water had touched, including in the drywall. We are asking for Melton Plumbing's insurance to compensate us for the costs of remediating the water and mold damage. All the damage was the result of the defective pump installed 6/17 causing the flooding. We are still waiting for a response. read more

The absolute worst plumbing company. The owner is rude, defensive, unreasonable, and unknowledgeable. I will never understand how you can be so rude to a paying customer. They initially spent 5-6 hours in my home working on a shower and didn't fix it, and when they left they didn't reassemble the shower correctly. They came back out nearly 2 weeks later only to leave the shower connection stripped. They need to listen to their customers, but I really don't think that is a possibility with this company. If I could give 0 stars, I would. We used Melton because they were assigned to our warranty work through our HSA warranty. First of all, they're impossible to get in touch with. The owner, Tom, is a real jerk. A simple hot water heater replacement suddenly had over $700 estimated to come out of our pocket. We just bought a home, we don't have that currently. When we chose to go with the cash out option and do the work ourselves for now so we could have hot water and save some $, (and add the rest of what needed to be done to our to-do list - we bought an older home) Tom acted personally offended and started making negative comments about our home, the work that was done, the work we'd need to do, etc. So unprofessional and petty it was almost amusing. This company is a joke. They literally have no way to contact them by phone, they want emails only. You can leave a voicemail, but my warranty company left a voicemail with them trying to escalate my issue to an emergency, then they claimed they never got the voicemail. IDK, I'm guessing they just didn't want a long drive and wanted to service my issue on their own terms. When they called me to reschedule my emergency for the 2nd day in a row, I told them that this was an emergency and couldn't keep being rescheduled; they said "Well your warranty company hasn't escalated it to an Emergency"...well they tried, but you guys have no phone contacts! Melton told me to call back and use an extension to reach a person, and told me if my warranty company called that number and told them it was an emergency, they would fit me in today. If I could rate this business a less than a 1 I would! They have been an absolute nightmare to deal with. Starting off the girl they sent the first night was well over a hour late. When she (Brittany?) finally arrived to check the hot water heater she informed me they sent her as a training exercise but she actually knows nothing about hot water heaters as she normally does faucets. THEN as she is waiting for someone to call her to instruct her what to do next she proceeds to tell me why she prefers women "because they work harder and have more". Ummmm, I'm straight and don't care about your preferences, just can you do the job? Obviously not. Next guy they sent out a week (yep a week) later to fix what they determined to be a bad shower valve (not sure how they jumped from water heater to that but it's the homebuyers warranty so...) and he BROKE it. He said it shouldn't be a big deal because "this is a nice house and I'm sure you have another shower to use". Then they told me someone would be to repair it Tuesday. Nope, they called Tuesday to fix it Wednesday. They called Wednesday and I was on my way to a meeting and unable to accommodate them so they called Thursday at 7am to put me on the schedule for Friday (today). I came home before 2pm today-Friday (they never called at any time today). At 4:30pm I called to see if I was still on the schedule and the woman said yes he was at the job right before me and should be calling me any minute. Called again at 6:30 pm and a woman called back and said he was at the job right before me and should be calling me any minute. I told her that's what she told me at 4:30. She said she didn't know and that I must have spoken to Elizabeth. Sounded like the same person to me but what do I know... THEN, icing on the cake... a "man" called at about 7:20 pm and said the guys only work until 8pm and anything after 8pm will be rescheduled . I attempted to tell him what the woman had said and he cut me off saying they're in Norwood and it would be rescheduled. We then went back and forth and he yelled that I had gotten smart mouthed with him and he would pull my order. I then told him I see why they have such horrible reviews. He tried to say they have 3.3 stars and maybe 90 complaints out of 6,000 calls. He then said 3.3 was terrific . Ummmm, no it's not. If I had been hiring without the homebuyers warranty I would have bypassed them because 3.3 is a crap rating. Also, on BBB they have an F rating. I have since tried to call them to speak with someone else because they broke it they should fix it. But no call back! Imagine that! So, I'm out $100 that I gave for the service call that the girl wasn't even qualified for but I will also be out the cost of the repair because I will not allow them back in my home after tonight's debacle . My home warranty company sent Melton Plumbing out to Repair/Replace my water heater. The first repairman said the heater could not be repaired and would need to be replaced and that someone would contact us. There would be modification needed to bring the water heater to code which I already was aware of. However Melton Plumbing did not purchase a permit for the installation of the water heater although he charged more than double the cost of the permit in Clermont County. He also was not registered to do work in Clermont County. The installation was not to code and when the installer left I had a carbon monoxide leak due to the improper installation of the modification to the vent pipe. I had to call a licensed, bond, Clermont County registered plumber to reinstall the water heater. Pictured below is the work preformed by Melton Plumbing and the reinstallation by Halpin Plumbing. Warning about this company and its moronic owner. I'id give zero stars id I could. I had a home warranty claim over a month ago and have since called and sent multiple emails to the company. I have received no email communication from them since June 4. I received a call from their scheduler Thursday asking me if I'd accepted the out of pocket costs to which I replied that I had (3 weeks prior), and that the water heater was available weeks ago. She promised to call me back. She never did, granted it was a holiday. No problem, but here we are, still, no call back. Today, I played around with the phone tree options and got the owner. First, he hung up on me. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and called back to let him know that I'd called my warranty company 3 times and that they'd placed me on hold to contact them and were unable to get through. He accused me of lying. I couldn't believe my ears. In what world does a professional business owner accuse a customer of lying? He said he checks and responds to all of his emails. I resent him all 6 emails that I have sent to 3 different emails associated with the company over the past month. He then tells me to find another plumber after accusing me of lying rather than being curious and attempting to understand why none of my emails were answered and why I was having difficulty getting through to his company. We had a leak in our bathroom on our second floor. Called our Home warranty company and they sent someone out from Melton Plumbing. Plumber came and was 5'6" and didn't have a ladder to reach the ceiling. Then offered to put sealant on the leaky pipe that clearly needed to be replaced. Left and said someone would come back to replace pipe, here we are a month later! Someone was supposed to show up today, nobody ever came, and nobody is answering at the office! HORRIBLE COMPANY! Water heater went out. Contacted the home warranty company and they sent out Melton. Two guys come out and spend 30 minutes trying to light the pilot. No luck. Two days later another comes out and within seconds shows me that the water heater is leaking and needs to be replaced. The leak was obvious but somehow the first two plumbers didn't notice. He assures me he'll contact the home warranty company that day so they can begin the process to replace the water heater. Instead, he waits four days before contacting them. Meanwhile, I've now gone a full week with no hot water. So the first two guys didn't see an obvious leak and the third sat on it for four days before bothering to report it to the warranty company. At that point I contacted Roto-Rooter and they replaced the water heater the same day. Stay far away. read more

On Sunday 4/22/18 while doing laundry, our upstairs tub and toilet filled up with sewage and water was all over. I went to the basement to stop the washer and I shut off the water valve. With it being a Sunday, I called a handyman who quoted me $275 over the phone. When he arrived, him and his associate ran his machine all the way out the back of our house through the basement and wasn't able to locate any blockage. He also went on our roof to clear out air duct. We then ran water in the house and we still had the same issue. He ended up only charging us $75 for the service call since he wasn't able to fix it. My husband made some calls on Sunday but no one could come out and it was suggested that we call the city and get a copy of the rendering of the plumbing so we would know where the cleanout is located. The city emailed this to us. On Monday, my husband called HMS Home Warranty that we have and they provided us with Melton Plumbing's number. With our Home Warranty it's only a $100 service call not unless foreign objects are removed. Melton said they would be out between 2pm and 6pm on Monday. No one came and my husband received a call just before 8pm wondering if we still wanted them to come and he said yes but to come the next day because it was so late. Melton arrived on Tuesday around 3:30pm and ran their machine in our basement and once again, no blockage. Then the ran it out our front yard through the cleanout. They got so far and their machine would stop so they backed it up and tried again and their machine stopped. They placed a stake in our yard where the machine stopped and they said we will need to call the city because it looks like we have collapsed pipe because their machine won't go through no further. I don't know why, but they charged us $525 for this call. We call the city and they came out on Wednesday and wasn't able to run a camera because there was water in the pipes. They gave my husband a number to a plumber that the highly recommend and they said they use this company all the time. My husband told them what we were charged the day before with Melton and they said we were robbed. On Thursday this other company came out, Tony's Drain Cleaning. They were able to "bust through" the ROOTS within 5 minutes. The city was there too so they can run the camera and our pipes are just fine. They also poured a solution in our pipes to kill roots and suggested we get some and do this monthly. Tony's only charged us $200. My husband called and spoke to the owner at Melton's and he told us if we have an issued to take them to court. We are now talking to HMS Home Warranty about this since they were the ones who referred them to us. read more

Do yourself a favor and do NOT let these people through your front door. A simple toilet and shower faucet leak has gone on for over a month. After the third technical, not plumber was done today I now have water not leaking from the faucet but leaking into my wall. I have been on the phone with HSA warranty for 1 and a half hours to be told that I have to wait now for Melton to send an authorization to them. They have 24-48 hrs to do so. That will take us into the holiday weekend, so the soonest I can hear from anyone is Tuesday 7/5. That is five days water will be leaking in the wall thanks to the skilled technician at Melton Plumbing. During this visit I ask the technician to let me talk to Mr Melton. Mr Melton told me on the phone they just can't work on Koehler. Koehler is just awful. Mr Melton's crew have dropped the ball since the first visit and now have caused a situation that will definitely damage property. Stay away from these guys. Unfortunately I did not have a say in which co pant was picked I was at the mercy of the home warranty company HSA. read more

Do NOT use this company. Our home warranty sent them out. We had a broken water heater & they were to put a new one in. We smelled a strong gas smell after the guy removed the old water tank & we asked him about it, he said when he was taking the tank out he accidentally had the gas turned on for a second but turned it off & that's why we smell gas. He put in the new water heater & said he'd come back tomorrow to fix a condensation pipe that he had to move to put the water heater in. He didn't have the part to fix it, he had put the pipe up in the air above our furnace. He made it like it was no big deal & said it's just a small part & you can use the hot water and everything. We then had to pay $675. All night, me & my husband smelled gas pretty strong still. We were worried because I'm pregnant & we have a 2 year old daughter. My husband said he'd call Tom Melton in the morning. The next morning we get a call from the secretary from Tom Melton's telling us to not use our air conditioner because that guy didn't fix the pipe right! We were told this the NEXT day after using the a/c all night long. We were furious. We then told them to come and fix the problem ASAP AND to check out the gas smell, that it was very strong still. A new guy came out the same day. He said he found a small gas leak & sealed it up & he had a part to fix the condensation pipe that the guy had left unfixed the day before. A few hours later my husband got home from work. He said right when he walked thru the door the smell of natural gas was way stronger than before! He went upstairs to where the hot water was & started smelling around to where the gas was coming from & ended up finding where it was coming from from under the water heater. He then had to call Tom Melton for the 3rd time. It was Saturday & no one was answering. He finally got a call back from Steve & he said that he & William would be out to check it out. My husband had to be the one to tell them where the gas was coming from & they figured out that the first guy who came had ripped out the old water heater & busted a gas line! They then had to fix it... so not only was there a small gas leak they fixed that morning, there was a major leak from the broken gas line. All of this because of one guy who did his job very sloppy! My husband asked Steve if we would get refunded some of the $675 for all of the trouble we have went through with these people. He asked what he thought would be fair, we said at least half of the $675 refunded. He said he agreed that is fair for all of the trouble we went through & would talk to the owner about it and let us know Monday (It was Saturday). He then later (jokingly) said he thought we shouldn't have to pay a dime it should come out of that guys check that screwed all of this up. He knew what happened to us was bull crap! Especially with being pregnant & having a 2 year old in the home! Monday morning comes along & it was kind of cold that morning around 8am so I turned on the heat (for the first time in about a week). The heat shut off immediately & shut the thermostat off as well! I called my husband at work and he told me to check the breaker to the furnace & reset it. I did, I came back inside and turned the heat on again... this time there was a loud ticking sound coming from the furnace & it sounded like it didn't want to fire on. I went to look at it to see what was going on. All of a sudden all of the smoke detectors in our house start going off & our carbon monoxide detector! The whole house smelled like fire and I only had the heat on for not a whole minute! I switched the switch to the furnace to off & grabbed my daughter and ran outside to call my husband. He had to come home from work & call Tom Melton yet again! When they had that condensation pipe above our furnace the couple days before the water from the a/c being on leaked into our furnace because they did not advise us to not use the a/c until the NEXT day! So that water from the condensation pipe leaked into our furnace all night that night. This had been another problem Tom Melton has caused us during this whole week. We were absolutely fed up! We hadn't been able to do anything for a whole week but worry about all of these problems they've caused us. We called our home warranty and told them about the issue we had with Tom Melton. They said we would have to discuss that with them personally because they caused the issue & caused damage to our furnace. My husband called Steve & told him about the issue & he kept saying "we don't fix furnaces" & "nothing we did could've caused that". There was nothing they were going to do to help. We then told them we would be taking them to court. They gave us their lawyer info & this is what we've been dealing with & they are not giving us half of the $675 back for the gas troubles they've caused like he said was fair! I would have to cut several pipes. Would not even get down and dirty to look. He had me flush toilets and run water the floor drain was not overflowing. Then the air came on dumping water in drain which caused it to overflow. He then said it is your air conditioner dumping too much water. He then said he would tell home warranty company it was the air. The air conditioner guy came out and laughed. He said you have a slow draining floor drain. Called Melton Plumbing back to tell them they were mistaken but would not answer. Finally I got a hold of them and promised again William there best plumber would be out to fix it. He never showed had to call after waiting all day to be told not going to happen. Then Steve said well I can make you an appt. tomorrow with no guarantee they would show. Well Steve and William Roto Rooter came out and snaked the drain within 15 minutes problem solved. So don't hire Melton they are bozo's!!!! read more
