He demonstrates a genuine care for the well being of his patients, doesn't rush through your visit and listens carefully to your concerns. While suffering from unexplained constant body aches, he took the time to ask deeper questions about the source. He found the cause to be stress/mild depression. Instead of drugging me up, he basically counseled me. He realized that my home life was a huge stress factor and suggested that I change my living situation to improve my health. I am so grateful to this day that he did not prescribe an anti-depressant. God only knows what kind of zombie I might have been instead of just getting motivated and changing the circumstances causing my stress. That may seem obvious but I had been to several doctors prior to Shaw that gave me a very poor /no diagnosis. He is a fantastic doctor and I will always be thankful.

All in all I was pleased as I had recently moved to Oak Park and sought out a new GP that was more convenient. As part of the annual physical, I had blood drawn for lab testing and was told to call back in 4-5 business days. OK so its an old school practice with no secure electronic records access so figured ok, I can do that. It has been 3 weeks now. I have been calling every day sometimes getting the German receptionist, sometimes leaving a VM, and have gotten zero response...no call backs...and when I speak to the receptionist, she doesn't take a message, but rather suggests I call back when it is more convenient for Herr Doctor. Its been frustrating beyond belief. I am going to have to go back to my prior practice and redo everything because I know they can communicate and trust their expertise. Bottom line: If you are under 80 and require any sort of convenience in discussing the results of your appointment/tests in any channel other than back in person, I wouldn't bother going to Dr Meineke. While he seems knowledgeable (I don't know because I didn't have any follow-up to consider), he also seems to be just going through the motions and not making the patient experience anything different stepping on gum. I would like to rate this office higher but cannot…read more I have been a patient of Dr. Spratford's for almost 10 years and will not go anywhere only because of how great he is as an individual. This review though is for the practice as a whole. Time and time again over the years, this office seems to have suffered the problem of getting too large, too quickly, without enough resources. When they did their major additions and upgrades it took them months to get things together. The staff was/is over-worked and there was too much traffic at all times. Outside of that transition time hasn't been better. Getting in touch with your doctor is difficult. You have to call, leave a message, and often, even if you ask for the doctor, you get a call back from the nurse. Then you have to go through the whole process of leaving a message and waiting again. The staff and RN's have repeatedly gotten my recurring prescriptions wrong when communicating with the pharmacy, sometimes costing me dearly (I will say that the office has resolved this for me with their in house pharmacy, but I had to almost demand it). Out of all of that, my biggest complaint about the office is the general lack of attention to detail. For example, if my doctor leaves town, I have to TELL the doctor filling in to check my chart. To me this should be standard operating procedure. How can you answer a question of a patient if you haven't reviewed their file? They are too busy, without enough administrative staff, and it shows in the quality of assistance I get when I'm not with my doctor. (I'm surprised there's a hidden review here that says pretty much the same thing. I knew when I came on here that I couldn't possibly be the only person who's noticed this problem creep up over the years)

She is young, probably in her 30s, and just very attentative to me. I've seen doctors in the past who were eager to get you in and out, but Dr. Vaughan takes the time to sit down and listen to what you're going through. My most recent visit was in January '08, the reason I didn't really know. I had had a perpetual throat-clearing/cough for at least a year and I was finally getting it checked out. I did some research, and didn't know if it was allergies, asthma, or GIRD. I went in there, she sat down, and said "This is when I get to be a detective and figure out what's going on with you." I thought that was AWESOME! I was in there for an hour an a half, she was running different tests on me, and we figured out that it's possibly allergy-induced asthma, and definitely some allergy issues. I feel a lot better now that we're getting to the bottom of things, and I would recommend her to anyone! Other notes: I rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting area to go into a room, which is great. Nothing worse than going to the doctor's office and having to sit and wait (especially when you have an appointment!).

Saw Dr. Itkin on Nov. 27th. Was promised he could help figure out why i was having so much pain…read more Ordered an MRI/MRA and blood work. All that was done on Dec. 11th. I followed up with an email to his nurse about a week later and was told it takes about 10 days for the images to be read and reports issued and after that someone would reach out and let me know what my next course of action would be. Wel, here it is, February 6th and I'm still waiting.

I have had to return to his office many time for check ups on my hearing that I lost with the terrible infection. He was very positive on me getting my hearing back but I was not--After about 6 months it has now all returned!!! He kept me as positive as I could be and treated me like family. I just saw him for my last check up and was sad to leave. I needed another opinion for a hip issue and asked if he has someone he could recommend and yes he did. And that man is very nice too!
