We just received a notice for dental work from 4 years ago - we asked for a copy of the records to confirm this is correct and they didn't respond after multiple months. DO NOT GO HERE - we will be filing with the better business bureau. We have emailed and called for more information since December 4th 2025 for services you said occurred in 2022. This is the first written notice we have received. We got a text in December of 2025. You are doing faulty practices for something that supposedly occurred 4 years ago. We have asked for all the clinical records from 2022, the x rays the diagnosis was based on, procedure codes, appeal history with the insurance carrier, and date first billed and any rebilling dates. I literally delete my bad review regarding the customer service a few weeks ago. Now I'm being told I can not get "free" teeth whitening unless I get my fillings replaced (which I do not NEED - the dentist could not even tell how old my fillings were!) I have noticed that they tell you that you "need" things and will not offer the "free" teeth whitening that they advertise, until those items are completed. This is how they get you to do all your "repair work" & come into their office. I only need the root canal, which I have an appointment with at Heights Blvd Dentistry (they are awesome and have not told me 3 different things like Memorial has) This place is a SCAM. This place is such a scam. Every time I come here, I always have a "new cavity" or a "filling that needs to be re-filled." I don't understand why they need us to send them our insurance beforehand if they don't check what's actually covered under it. I got a new insurance and asked if I'll have to pay anything out of pocket & they said no. 1 month later, I'm getting billed about $200 out of pocket for a simple cleaning! Having experienced a traumatic dental experience as a kid, I'm never excited about seeing a new dentist. This entire office takes the cake. Following the rules, I called once I parked in the lot, letting them know I arrived. Stepped into a beautiful, modern, clean office. I filled out all my new patient paperwork online, which is convenient and aligns with today's ease of technology. They took my temperature and asked that I acknowledge the appropriate COVID-related questions (have you been exposed, have you tested positive, are you experiencing any the following symptoms, etc). My hygienist was Hong; she was mindful of my anxiety, extremely careful with me and told me every step of her process, keeping me at ease. My dentist was Dr. Abdou -- a beautiful and kind woman! Thoroughly explained the state of my mouth (ha) and sent me on my way. Even as I was leaving, the front office staff wished me a good day and each referred to me by my name, which goes a long way. Have since recommended this team to family and friends. Also important to note: if you get your two cleanings a year, you get a free massage in-house! I note that the past reviews are either 5-star or 1-star. The 5-star reviews tend to focus in the "free" stuff, massages, spa treatments, having drinks from Starbucks ordered... The 1-star reviews focus on poor quality service, apparently "needed" new procedures with little to no reason or justification, overcharging insurance, overcharging customer - summed up as a scam. I add to the list of 1-star reviews, although I would prefer it to be zero-star. My usual dentist is in California, but I had lost a small simple filling on a front tooth, needed replacement. I had a recommendation to try Memorial Park Dental "Spa". So I walked in, initially to ask for an estimate. The two ladies on the front desk were friendly, the waiting area decor nice. They told me they would try to squeeze me in straight away. But they did point out that obtaining the estimate would cost $109. I was flabbergasted - which service provider in any industry asks for that kind of fee just to look in my mouth? I was unhappy, but decided to go ahead anyway. The new patient registration procedure was conducted on an iPad with a dedicated app, requiring 7 forms to be filled. Groan. But I started in bravely. Simply, the app is a disaster. It crashed three times during the whole thing, requiring a reset by one of the reception staff on each occasion. They did not sound surprised at the crashes. The last form did not even allow me to start, it hung as soon as it was selected. Not an auspicious start. I was called in by a dental tech lady. The dental cubicle I was shown into was under-impressive. The dental chair cover was worn and torn, the room had not been redecorated for years, the dental technology all around - instruments, computer, patient assist devices... was from a generation at least 10 years out of date. The only new technology was a giant TV screen showing mostly ads. Another dental tech said I would need an x-ray. The technology of the hand-held x-ray "gun" she used was at least 15 years old, and dangerous, not allowing the tech to leave the room for radiation safety reasons. Then the dentist, Mary Abdou, showed up, I verbally gave her my recent dental history from California. She pretty much ignored that. Then she looked at the x-ray, and said she could fix the filling straight away. But I asked her for an estimate before starting, so she left and returned in 1 minute with a printed estimate of $500!!! For small simple front tooth filling, without complications. Except she claimed that there was a cavity that needed treatment also. Frankly I doubt that, it would have shown up on the full set of dental x-rays in California in mid-February. I already had a quotation from my California dentist, based on a photo I had sent, for $214 for the filling. Not a total of $609 at Memorial Park. I left immediately. Ms. Abdou did not seem to care. I told the front desk that their business practices were awful. They had the opportunity to gain a potentially long-term new patient. Instead, they managed to show me their business incompetence, their terrible patient registration procedure, their ridiculous charge to just look and make an estimate, their dirty and poorly-maintained workspace, their ancient and poorly maintained dental technology. The front office manager just looked embarrassed and said she would "pass it on". They also managed to get yet one more 1-star rating. I quickly made an appointment at the UTHealth School of Dentistry, with an about-to-graduate dental student, supervised by a Professor. At check-in I pre-paid $90, to be set against the final charge. Pre-treatment interview was comprehensive & efficient. After X-ray and examination, an estimate of $98 was immediately forthcoming. At every stage of the procedure, the dentist called the Professor to examine and advise. On check-out I paid the balance of $8. I highly recommending this wonderful provider for such relatively simple dental procedures. I advise against using Memorial Park Dental Spa. Unless you base your judgement on the occasional free spa session or massage. read more

My brother in law is a dentist and I wanted a 2nd opinion (I regularly brush my teeth so it seemed off I had so many). The staff asked if i flossed and when i last saw a dentist. I admitted I don't floss all the time and haven't seen a dentist in a while, so I trusted they were right) YOU GUYS. Today I flew home and he said I don't have any cavities at all. Looks like I was too quick off the mark. I am honestly completely shocked at my follow-up experiences at this practice. Please do yourself a favor and read the other negative reviews, detailing similar experiences to mine. I wish I had seen them before I ever went into this place. After my initial exam, cleaning, and one follow up visit for a filling earlier this spring, I returned a couple months later to have the remainder of my work started. Keep in mind, I was presented with a treatment plan detailing what work needed to be done, along with associated costs from the very first visit. Not only do I have good insurance, I even opted in to pay extra for the "ultra extra good" dental coverage through my employer's insurance. The price I was quoted by this practice that would STILL be out of pocket after all that, seemed high to me (over $900!)....but hey, what do I know? I'm just a layman shmuck who didn't know any better, so accepted that they were being honest with me and that that is "just how it is" with dental insurance. On top of that, after paying about $80 out of pocket for my first filling, I was then charged a subsequent $50. When I called the practice to discuss this and ask why, I was told that "sometimes after the insurance settlement, there is still more owed." I was irritated, but again, being a trusting fool, I paid them. After having one filling done, as said, I returned a couple months later for my next round. I was then told that there would be an additional $500 charge at every visit for vitals monitoring!!!!! It was this point, that something really was starting to smell fishy. There was no way I was going to pay this, plus, I was extra pissed that they didn't tell me this at any of the THREE prior visits I had been to, nor was it listed on my treatment plan. I left that day with no work being done and nothing being paid out. Fast forward to 2 months later (just a few days ago from this updated review) I headed over to West Gray Dental based on several recommendations for them from my neighborhood FB group. Not only did they find THREE further fillings that need to be done, even WITH all that extra work, the out of pocket after insurance only comes out to $220!!!!!! They also didn't even charge me anything for that initial exam or ex-rays! Like I said, I am honestly gobsmacked over this, and now feel strongly that Memorial Park Dental are scammers and will go out of their way to drain your pocketbook as much as they can. On top of all that, after calling FOUR times to have MY own records emailed to me, they still have not done so. (Not holding my breath on that one.) First dentist in Houston - and happily, I have every reason to expect I'll stay! Wait time - I waited in the reception for all of 3 minutes, and was given a short tour on the way back - which orients you in the larger layout, and helps you see that you really could get mixed up in here! It's bigger than it looks from the street! The people - everyone felt authentic, some being more talkative, some being more reserved, though all easy to talk with. I'm 50, and this was one of the best team/human interactions I've had at a dentist. Skills - super competent - when I mentioned I felt some plaque still inside by bottom incisors the tech literally said "Thank you! I love that kind of feedback! Let's take care of it!" and went back in with a smile. And easy manner/humor/awareness were constant. The facilities/equipment - older building, but very up to date equipment: digital x-rays, newer chairs and picks and probes and all that. The fun but also weird part (for me) was the two tv's - a 50-60' one at the foot of the chair, and another in the ceiling. I get that can be super for distracting nervous folks, just too in-yer-face for me. The bright side? They noticed, and offered to turn them off. well done! read more

My gums were extremely sensitive especially around my lower lip. John, (they said they couldn't give me his last name) the hygienist, kept pulling on my lower lip to clean, he kept saying "I'm not even touching you" when clearly he was. Then, as if my experience wasn't already uncomfortable enough, he attempts to insult me by saying "you're too old to be acting like this" like really?! I came here in January 2014 as a new patient after moving to Houston or a basic dental cleaning and check-up. The facilities/massage coupon/bottle of champagne were nice, but I'm just a girl just trying to keep my worrying mom happy & go to the dentist twice a year....yes, I'm almost 30. I had 1 cavity as a child, but other than that my dental appointments have been pretty uneventful other than when I had my wisdom teeth removed (ouch!). I brush/floss daily, so imagine my surprise when Dr. Thomas informs me that I have NINE NEW CAVITIES. Keep in mind that it has only been 6 months since I had last seen a dentist. Here's the kicker: these "cavities" were not discovered from an X-ray, but from a "new technology that can identify potential cavities forming in advance" (i.e. not actual cavities). I immediately went to another dentist (out of pocket bc insurance only covers 2 visits a year) for a 2nd opinion and was told that I do not have any cavities and do not need any fillings. My treatment plan from Memorial Park Dental was comprised of $1200 worth of fillings for cavities that do not exist. When I expressed concern, I was presented with payment plan breaking the treatments into 5 visits. 5 additional visits to their office for cavities that don't exist! I found Tippit Dental Group through a coworker's recommendation and have been going there ever since. As of January 2015, still NO CAVITIES. In fact, I was told to "keep doing exactly what I'm doing." In her own words, Dr. Thomas at Memorial Park Dental is a "preventative dentist." In my opinion, this business is a scam, should be investigated by the Texas State Dental Board, and put out of business. I got a cleaning and X-rays done by Mike Mireles he was very good at explaining everything to me. I knew I needed to floss more but he did a good job of explaining the proper way. Dr. Mary Abdou did my exam and she was great! I've never had a dentist take their time and really explain things the way she did. She explained to me what the acidic drinks were doing to my teeth and then she ended up fitting me for a night guard for my awful grinding so I'm super excited about that! I generally like this place. The staff is very friendly and nice. The wait time is short. The biggest complaint is that I spent 6k on Invisalign and there were very little adjustments made. First they told me I'd only need to wear them for 3-4 month. Ended up being an entire year. When I told them I still felt that my teeth weren't straight yet all they did was make me wear them for a longer period of time. After a year I still had the same issues with my alignment. There was still a gap between my front two teeth and they still curved inward and my bottom teeth were still not alighted or straight. It was a complete waste of a year and $6,000. I look exactly the same as I did when I first got there! I would've been better off just getting the discounted ones online. They didn't care if I was happy with my results. They just gave me my retainers and said they'd adjust but another year later and they're still the same. Just wasted my money. I won't be going back. If you're going in for another reason this place might not be so bad but I'd try a different place for Invisalign. read more
