We had a long day at Penticton and had a dinner at this place after checking in at our hotel. The place was a bit busy for a Saturday dinner time but was managed to got seated right away. We've ordered the Memphis Feast because we're starving for not eating lunch. We've ordered also added the delicious, hot and creamy Corn and Sausage Chowder soup to warm up our empty stomach. Decided to try something totally different for Father's Day. What dad doesn't like a great BBQ and Memphis Blues did not disappoint! We loved the decor and Blues music playing softly in the background. Started with some of their delicious cocktails before enjoying a bottle of reasonably priced wine with dinner. Ordered the Elvis Platter and Seafood Medley which was plentiful for the 6 of us - our party consisted of 3 men with large appetites and they made a great attempt to finish the platter but we still ended up taking a fair bit of meat and potato salad home. All agreed was a great way to sample everything! Everyone enjoyed it and everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Service was excellent, very accommodating adding another table so we had lots of room for the larger platter. We definitely will be going back! read more

I went in expecting amazing BBQ as a dedicated BBQ joint your stuff should rock. I ordered the ribs, which should be the pride of every BBQ joint. The portion size was excellent it comes with corn bread, coleslaw, fries, and baked beans. The ribs were cooked to fall of the bone consistency which for me is pandering to the masses. A good rib is to the tooth a little more pull and not mushy. My ribs still had the membrane intact underneath the rib. Any beginner BBQ enthusiast knows that is the first thing you remove. The taste- well bland. No smoke ring, no smoke flavour, and the rub was unremarkable. The BBQ sauce was served on the side, if you are going to serve sauce it should be on the rib and caramelized on a hot charcoal grill. The baked beans had more smoke flavour than the ribs! The slaw was so bitter it was inedible. Cleanliness is questionable. When there is a squashed mosquito on the wall of the washroom in February it does not breed confidence. read more

Stopped in for dinner during our tour of Kelowna. None of us could really decide what we wanted to try so we tried everything. Went for the Memphis Feast, they say it feeds 3-4 and feel that is very accurate. There were 3 of us who were ravenous and at the end we all agreed we could have shared with an extra person looking at what was left over. Consisted of BBQ chicken, ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, ribends & double smoked farmer sausage. Sides of: coleslaw, potato salad, fries, bbq beans, bbq sauce & cornbread all came with. Favourites were the brisket and sausage. Paired with a pitcher of beer it was pretty good value for money considering how much meat was on that platter. read more

After eating BBQ at Rudy's in Texas, thought I would try something in Canada on our recent vacation. Wasn't really sure to get here as the menus are more meal focused, rather than the a la carte I'm used to seeing. We decided to get the Elvis Platter, recommended by the waitress since there was 7 of us. Comes with potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, BBQ sauce, corn bread, fries (overdone and super salty), sausage, beef brisket (too dry/lean), pulled pork (moist and tender), back ribs (flavourful) , ribbletts, and 1/4 chicken (dry white meat, pretty good dark meat). Definitely a lot of food and more than enough for 7 or 8 people. In terms of taste, the pulled pork was the best, but a lot of the rest was either too dry or too salty like I mentioned above. Tough to beat real Texas BBQ though, so not bad. I'd probably go back if I had a real hankering for BBQ, but I'd save my appetite for that at Rudy's in Houston. read more

My significant other and I went to this Kelowna location a couple of times, first by ourselves as a couple, then with family. I will start by saying that it is a pretty neat system. First you order, then go pay, and your food is prepared and delivered to your table. When you are done your meal, you can just leave, instead of waiting for the bill. Now about the food. Well every time I go, I get the same thing, the pint and pulled pork special. My other half always get the pulled pork poutine which I end up finishing for her. The meat was tender, and the food was generally good. I found that small areas of pulled pork that were not doused in barbecue sauce were a bit bland, but that was resolved quickly by mixing the meat with the sauce a but better. I like that set up as I get a more varied diet that way :) . The price is a tad on the higher side, but the food is well worth it. The service is impeccable and the decor and ambiance really speaks of a smoke house, which makes one feel comfortable and casual. At this location, we got to eat outside, enjoying the sunshine and being entertained by the people passing by, as well as the lovely street musicians that serenade the tables while performing their art. I can't help myself. There are 2 things I can't resist. #1. The Blues and # 2. Bar B Q'd anything. I loved the pulled pork, the coleslaw was alright, the beans were good and I ate some southern biscuit or something. Hearty, good ol' fashion Southern fare in the Okanagan. I have to mention that the music you'll hear is all Blues. I love it but I can imagine there are teenagers who wish they'd play some other type of music. Too bad! The Blues rule! I found that the two owners, maybe they are the managers (husband and wife) are not the most pleasant people. The covid practices are a little silly too, they make everyone line up to order then again to pay, which is exposing many more people in close quarters than if people just stayed at their tables. Friendly informal service, and fun to just slack there. Pulled pork has become hip enough that BK & Subway are offering it, but what they present, while edible, is a pale imitation of the real thing. Get to Memphis Blues early - the tenderest and juiciest pulled pork peaks right at the beginning of the lunch & supper rushes. They have a lunch special that is fantastic, just smashing - but which leaves me unproductive at work for an hour after I get back: A pulled-pork sandwich and beer (decent brands, too) for 9.99 My thing is the brisket. You can get it less cooked or more (they usually have several on the go) and leaner or fattier. I go to indulge myself, so mine is usually melt-in-my-mouth fatty and scorchy. Try it with a shot of your favourite corn liquor and a couple of tall glasses of ice-cold water. Dang. Or you could have some just before a jog or your hot yoga class (kidding, you'd die; do it after.) They have platters that ascend all the way up to table sized for sharing with friends or family - though I'd recommend that you find your "thing" and go with that - too many different kinds of meat at once is not as fun as savouring that one special dish that makes you melt inside. Nice, casual, comfortable atmosphere - can eat outside on the sidewalk or inside where there is always great music playing (even if a touch too loud sometimes) and they have live blues guitarists in on Thursday evenings, and it is located downtown right by the city park waterfront walkway and promenade where you can have a wonderful walk culminating in dinner or walk off some of the delicious weight that you will feel after dinner. The great surprise for me was the simplicity of the restaurant. You identify a seat, claim it, then go order at the till, where you can see them making food right in front of you. You get your drinks right then, and then you wait for the food, which doesn't take very long. The atmosphere is cool in the sense that there is music memorabilia everywhere, and good music in the air, and the kitchen is partly storage for empty bottles of Jack Daniels, which they use in the delicious barbeque sauce. But it is also warm colors, friendly staff without any stuffy attitude, and great menu boards. And the bathroom was very clean. Then your food arrives and you are blown away by it. I had ribs, of course. For me it is the fact that I really couldn't make ribs that good at home. A common failing of restaurants everywhere is producing food you could make easily at home and then charging too much for it. The Memphis Blues Barbeque house is just the opposite. If you are looking for some good ribs this is the place to go. Lots of tender meat on the bone and good size portions. They put the BBQ sauce on the side. I really like that since you can put as much or as little on as you like. The BBQ sauce is very tasty and is gluten free. It would be nice if they had different flavours though. The fries are cooked crispy and nicely seasoned. They give you a side of beans and coleslaw both of which are very good. You grab a table when you go in and go to the counter to order and pre-pay. They bring the food to your table. It's very casual dining. The decor is excellent with lots to look at while you wait for your food. They play Blues music which really adds to the atmosphere. The six of us were incredibly hungry and slightly chilly as we walked the streets looking for a place to eat. We had originally drove to Kelowna from Vernon to eat at Krafty Kitchen and Bar but were disappointed to find that they were only serving from their brunch menu on a Sunday afternoon. We weren't feeling brunch-y but we were definitely hungry. The moment we entered MBBH we knew we were staying, the down home blues memorabilia and tunes lured us in to stay... We ordered the Elvis platter which basically contained every meat they had plus some really amazing sides. Side ribs, rib ends, pulled pork, chicken, brisket, and smoked sausage were arranged on the platter along with some really great fries and sides. My personal favourite were the baked beans but the others in the group really liked the coleslaw. No one was really crazy for the potato salad. This restaurant is a chain though to me it didn't really feel like it. The food was flavourful and plentiful and the list of available bourbons literally took up a huge section of one wall. I would like to try an authentic BBQ house in the south but for now I'm pretty happy with the platter we had at Memphis Blues Barbeque House. I hear they are expanding into Alberta soon... read more

This place is great! It is meant to give you the experience of high quality bbq food from the southern states. Their bbq sauce is extremely high quality and I can't think of anything you can buy at the grocery store that is nearly as good. Even their sandwich buns are amazing! Very soft and flavorful! I highly recommend their pulled pork and sausage. Once I had a minor problem with their fries being cold but the owner went above and beyond to make it up to me. I was really impressed by the level of service. I had their fries again the other day and they were amazing! They were hot with outstanding flavor and extremely generous portion size. Stopped in here after a round at the Okanagan Distillery and ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, and calamari. The pulled pork was wonderfully complimented with a signature BBQ sauce, and the crispy lightly seasoned fries with a rich and flavourful gravy. The calamari portions and flavor were easily the best I've ever had, the sauce was a great unique take on spicy tzatziki.
