I low key could hate the food here and still come back regularly just to have interactions with someone as kind, funny, and personable and he is. But the food is good to boot, making this now my favorite BBQ place in Kelowna. Started with a frosty, frozen pink lemonade that was very tasty. My sirloin was cooked perfect medium rare as asked. Went to Montana's last week and as always the staff is great. Ordered a steak this time and was not disappointed. It was exactly as I requested it and the baked potato was great too. I've had their fish & chips and of course their ribs on other visits and enjoyed them all. We will keep going back because the food is great and the prices are reasonable. read more

Back in Kelowna for a tournament and returned to Montana's in a group of five on a Saturday night. This was such a more positive experience all the way around than our previous visit. Our server was very pleasant and attentive...the service was great. It was so nice to see that they have added 3 rotating taps from local craft breweries....including an IPA. Thank you for adding these options. Three at our table ordered the steak medium rare and all were cooked perfectly. The presentation and the taste of the food were excellent. Montana's BBQ in Kelowna is a popular place on a Saturday evening. A mix of families with kids, those on date night, friends catching up over a meal..., it's all to be found in this restaurant. It's clear they cater to families hence the little bucket with multi colored crayons for kids of all ages. The waitress scribbled her name upside down, so we wouldn't forget her name; it was obvious she'd done this quite a few times. Writing upside down like a pro. The menu looks tasty, prices are reasonable. I'm not a chain restaurant person, but I didn't mind Montana. Plus: my dinner companion does like chains, so it's give and take. This town also doesn't have a lot of individually owned restaurants. A chain on Saturday evening it was, and we didn't regret. I had a craving for spareribs. Not sure what sauce to choose. I thought it was rather clever to put bottles with the offered sauces on the table, so one can sample before ordering. I ordered half rack with French fried and coleslaw( your typical sparerib meal. My companion ordered spare ribs plus chicken wings and a loaded baked potato. Those wings must've been really good, because he didn't offer me any. I was just in time to take a quick picture of his food, but the corn bread had already disappeared from both plates. I think it's safe to say that's a good sign. Let's talk spare ribs. These were the juiciest, meat-falls-of-the-bone ribs I've had in a very long time. I'm not a big eater, but that half rack disappeared fairly quickly. French fries were crispy and delicious, I didn't finish 1/3 because the main star of my plate was that rack of ribs. The cole slaw left me unimpressed, an underwhelming little bowl of tasteless slaw. Obviously there was no room for dessert, I'm giving this place a 5 star for this experience. It's not gourmet, but the quality and service was good. Maybe I'm biased because I'm from Texas and this place is trying to be an American country restaurant, but it was just ok. The interior is very rich with wood, fireplaces, and random things hanging from the ceiling, like a car with its lights on. The service was friendly but incredibly slow. The slow service really killed it for us. We hadn't planned on spending hours at lunch, and we didn't expect such slow service when the place was mostly empty. The food was ok. The ribs were quite fatty but the apple bbq sauce was good. The cornbread was the best thing we had. The salad was ok and the chicken dish (I think Greek chicken or Mediterranean chicken... something like that) was also ok. This was our second visit to Montana's, since it is convenient on our path from the airport and toward Summerland. I think in the future, I'm going to opt for a different local restaurant. The just 'ok' meal just wasn't worth almost 2 hours of my time. One positive note: They have free Wifi! Just ask for the password and it works great! read more

We were on our way to the airport to catch our plane home and stopped for a bite. We chose Montana's, as in our experience they are efficient and yummy. We had 50 minutes to eat and run! We ordered when the server took our drink orders, and we only ordered appetizers. We ended up with about 7 minutes to eat - luckily the little guys chicken strips came in a cardboard take-out box!! It was moderately busy in there for sure. I originally gave 3 stars because it took so long! but changed it as the food was really good!! My husbands beef bites were my favorite. I want to make them at home. MIL's flatbread was really good as well. My antojitos were too spicy & cheesy for before a plane ride, but any other time would have been awesome. Anyway, besides the food, our server was really sweet and apologetic. I'd go again, even before catching a plane! read more

Let me make this clear: I come here for one reason, and one reason only -- the pork back ribs. Wednesday is typically all-you-can-eat ribs, although sometimes they'll have month-long promotions where this is featured every day of the week. While there are certainly better places for ribs on the Continent, this is about as good as you're going to get outside of Mississippi/Louisiana or any city with more than a half million residents. Service is usually very good, with attentive and responsive staff, although on rib nights they can sometimes get a bit overwhelmed. Service may also be slow if the place is almost empty, as they are expected to fulfil other non-service duties if their customer roster isn't full. As well, if you come for the ribs on the all-you-can-eat nights (especially after 1700hrs), make sure to ask if the kitchen is keeping up with orders - if they aren't, you might need to ask for refills ahead of time. If you are coming here for ribs, and prefer plenty of juicy meat, go for the back ribs. If you enjoy crunching through cartilage and prefer a dryer cut, go for the side ribs. If your tastes run more toward beef, you're in luck, as they also have beef ribs on the menu (although I have yet to try those). read more

If I were to rate based solely on the food it would be a 2 star for sure. The only reason it got three is because of the server and the decor. The food was extremely disappointing. I paid 44.99 for my girlfriend and I to split a BBQ Platter for 2. Beef, chorizo, pulled pork, ribs, fries, cornbread and crispy onion straws. All of the meat was cold, except for the pulled pork, which was decent at best. The onions and fries were also cold, and obviously made from frozen. The honey dill dip was good but super strong dill flavour. More like dill pickle dip than honey dill. The best course of the entire meal was the deep fried pickles, which I know were cooked from frozen but still better than the rest of the meal. I was looking forward to "fall of the bone" ribs and instead I got "cling to the bone". I have high standards for ribs after growing up around amazing home cooked ones. So when I got my dry, rubbery, stringy ribs I was dismayed to say the least. I doubt I'll return. When I pay 100 dollars for my girlfriend and I to go out for BBQ, I expect it to be amazing. read more

I really want to like this place...I really do...but now having gone several times I have to say my liking of this place is fading. My experience with the staff has always been good and it is quite a nice place...it's the food that kills it. The ribs taste good, usually...and the sauce on them really makes it but they are quite fatty at times and on my last visit the day before writing this I got food poisoning. Kind of dissapointed with my Chicken Fajita being dry. It's like they put the chicken on the grill then cut it off and put it on the small skillet dish. I didn't even see any juices when I mixed up the chicken, bell peppers and onions. I was looking forward to having the Fajitas because whenever I go to Montana's in Calgary I always enjoyed the juice dripping from my tortilla. Maybe they don't make the same Fajitas in Kelowna compared to Calgary. Our server Joanna seems to be friendly though. This is not our usual place for lunch so thought we would stop in. I ordered my usual pulled pork sandwich and it was not good. Fatty, lots of grissle and little meat.
