My new construction home built by Apple Tree, LLC President Jason Mroz in Appleton was so poorly built I find myself making monthly runs to Menards to repair all the shoddy workmanship from the builder. Menards what a huge store. They have been so great and helpful in material suggestions and how to repair the drywall and plaster that is cracking, splitting and not properly seamed, caulking nail holes, sealing gaps in interior trim and sealing doors to replacing faulty electrical outlets. read more

Bought a refrigerator from them. Horrible experience. First of all the sales girl was absolutely no help at all. Just stood there and told us nothing about the fridge. Told us nothing about delivery... we had to keep asking questions. Then she sent us to a guy to set up delivery. He was the most helpful of the entire experience. We got delivery the next day. The delivery guys show up and tell us they can't hook up the water to the ice maker. They leave the fridge in the middle of our kitchen and take off. Hubby had to go to the hardware store and get help there on how to hook up. Easy enough but we were told nothing about this. Fridge has a small dent. We have always bought our appliances elsewhere and had great delivery and service. Will never buy another appliance from Menards. Horrible. Wish we could have been more picky on where to buy from but the space to fit a new fridge was very small and limited. Had few choices. read more

DO NOT ORDER APPLIANCES FROM MENARDS! After 4 weeks on order we found out that the 3rd party carrier option we used when we ordered, Whirlpool could not deliver to our home. We tried to change to "ship to store" and that wasn't an option. The only option was to cancel the order and get a refund, then reorder. PROBLEM? Whirlpool cancelled due to their issue, but Menards (several days later) has still not provided the refund or confirmed it is pending. With over $5K in appliances paid for and unable to get a refund, Menards is playing games and working hard to hold on to our money. NEVER use a debit card with Menards, use a credit card so you have the ability to get the credit card company to provide the refund when Menards customer service is bad. Whirlpool customer service is exceptional, Menards is horrible. read more

Lazy unhelpful staff. We bought concrete and gravel so used the garden dept. checkout. There were three people standing around doing absolutely nothing except talking. When the cashier finally did get around to ringing us up, some idiot started counting the bags after they were already rung up, while pointing out to the other person standing there doing nothing, that she should also count (14) bags to make sure they are correct. I asked if the store was actually paying them to stand there and count things or if there was some other work they could be doing like actually helping me when I was loading all this concrete. I didn't want to say more because the person may have been mentally challenged, however, pathetic service as usual and management may want to monitor the floor better. read more

Was at Menards east and just had the worst customer service! price came up wrong at register and Rachel gave much attitude! Matt in cab apps was supposed to meet me back by an end cap to verify price. Waited 20 mins and 4 other employees said yes the item was tagged on sale and description on tag was what item said it was but only Matt could change the price. Matt refused to honor sale price because he said it was stocked wrong but half the end cap was stocked that way. read more

This Menards is a hit or miss. In the paint department is where I seem to spend most of my time these days (remodeling kitchen) some of the girls back there don't seem to want to bother helping I was even lucky enough to get an eye roll one day I was in again 2 days ago and the lady that helped me was incredibly patient with me trying to find the perfect Blue she made a change in the amount of one of the colors and she nailed it, It looks so good in my kitchen!! read more

I've found the employees at the Appleton and Grand Chute Menards to be knowledgeable and helpful.

The parking lot is horrendous... you have to park on one side and use one door to go in the store, and you are forced to use the other door to go out of the store. Controlling two toddlers and carrying generally heavy things that you would buy at home improvement stores, that kind of sucks since you have to walk a long way back to your car. The products here are generally pretty cheap and you can tell. The one time that my husband bought lumber here, he spent a lot of time picking out boards that were uniform and not warped and misshapen. This isn't an issue at Home Depot or Lowes. Also they always have the really annoying people that are trying to sell your DirecTV or Dish or satellite or whatever. The prices are cheap, so I guess if you need something very specific that you can't find anywhere else, you can come here. The store feels dingy and dirty, even though it's probably not. I feel like Menards is the Walmart of the home-improvement stores. read more

The day Menard's refused to help us, I called my credit card company and explained the situation. They promptly reversed the charge. I feel that this is the only reason the store now attempted to work with us. Especially since they said we were 'unlucky' and that it was 'our problem.' After multiple phone calls from various Menard's people, the corporate office sent us a letter from their legal department threatening litigation. As a side note, it must of been a form letter since in the envelope were two other letters addressed to two different people also threatening litigation, clearly not meant for us. Of course this letter scared my mother and she called me. In the end, the store did not sue us and took back the snow blower. This was in the summer. A good 6-8 months after the purchase date, after a pretty bad winter. It's just sad that they couldn't be reasonable without all this drama. Apparently, the only way to get a reasonable response was to withhold payment. Only then was the issue 'their problem' as well. read more

We happened to notice a Menard's while driving around Appleton. There's currently a huge mosquito problem in Milwaukee and all the regional stores are out of pretty much any sort of mosquito control, repellent, etc., product. They've apparently had some trouble up north too, but I walked in and rather than walking around an unfamiliar store for ten minutes looking for stuff they might not have, someone was able to point me in the right direction and tell me the general situation (both about the mosquitoes in Appleton as well as what they had available). Pleasant and fast, was in and out in five minutes. read more

Hate hate hate the east store, they made a mistake with a custom order, refused to help us, even just refund the cost we paid for the longer roofing sheets, so I ONLY shop now at the West location, they helped us even though they didn't make the mistake!! read more

Rude, inexperienced bunch of crap. Manger is totally stupid. Bought about 250 studs, had them delivered. Put them up and 42 of them were so twisted and pretzeled after 2 weeks, had to be ripped out as you could not even think about putting drywall over a 45 degree twisted stud. Called, said bring them in can return. Construction desk said "take this to check out, pick out new studs, check out will credit you for the old ones", crab at the check told us "that's not how it works" and argued with us, told her "that is what we were told" she said "well that is how it works", really does the right hand know what the left hand is doing. Then after not being able to get a credit at register and going to the "service desk" they told us "no you can't return them they are used", also said "put the drywall up and you wont' seem them", are you crazy, you can't put drywall up on a 45 degree twisted 2x4. Manager totally rude, unknowledgable person. Told us "you picked them out", no we didn't we ordered and paid for delivery, they picked them out. Spent thousands there finishing our basement, now on to Lowes. Also my wife asked "where are command hooks" Guy told her some in Christmas some by construction desk and turned around and walked off. Really any slight clue as to where in each area? They choose their 50 bucks over our loyalty. read more

It's cheap, it's simple, and as no frills as they come. Took me about 10 minutes to find a sales associate on the floor. Come here if you know what you want, they have it, and you know where to get it. Otherwise, be prepared to pay for your item with your time searching high and low for it. Oh, and before you go to another Menard's store, be warned that they don't have a standard floor layout like Walmart, so the same things will be in different places. read more

This review is given for customer service, when it matters the most. Overall shopping experience at this location, I've never had an issue. I recently purchased a refrigerator from them because with the sale price and rebate, it was hands down the best price around. I picked up the refrigerator, got it home, unpackaged it and saw it was severely damaged on top. I called the appliance department immediately, spoke with Floyd and sent him via text pictures of the damage. I was thinking I might be able to live with it and get an in-store credit so I got it into the house. I then looked it over the next day when I had more time and found some other less significant dents. I decided a store credit wasnt worth wondering if any of the main components had been jarred. I sent Floyd more pictures and told him I wanted it replaced. I requested a new one be delivered to me for my inconvenience (mind you, some of my food was still in coolers). I decided to go into the store, speak with a manager (Patrick) so I can get something solid on if/when they will deliver me a new fridge. Patrick was wonderful to work with and within a matter of minutes, I had an answer. Next morning I had a different refrigerator and the damaged one was loaded up to be taken back to them. Even though I was panicked (possibly losing all my food), Patrick and Floyd got the situation handled in a reasonable amount of time. Thank you guys!! N.E.V.E.R. again. I have bought appliances at Lowe's, Home Depot, Van Veedes and American for years. LOTS of appliances- for us and for others (when they could not afford it). I bought a fridge this month and they delivered it without an icemaker, without informing me of it. They hooked it up the following week. The hook-up leaks and the ice maker has not made ice in over 2 weeks. I have had it for 3 weeks. Every time I call Menard's east, I speak with the same manager. Each time he tells me the same thing- "Give it time for the air bubbles to work out". The fridge is pulled out so I can sop up the leaking water, blocking the way into the kitchen. I am so frustrated with their complete ineptness. If it is not fixed in the next 2 days, they can come and get their piece of crap and I will go to Home Depot. What incredibly poor customer service. read more

I rented a tile saw today at Menards Appleton East. Although we got it to work, it was in poor condition and the blade barely functional. It was due back at 4:30 which was about the time we were hit with a bad thunderstorm - trees down in our neighborhood, etc. When the weather cleared, I returned it to the store. They charged me for keeping it past the return time. Really? Every time I have to deal with their customer service I leave angry. Was it really worth the $6.30 of over charges, Menards? Would you have preferred that I had your young workers unload this heavy piece of equipment from my car while it was hailing? And not only that, but the robotic, rude service manager! Making eye contact, smiling, indicating some kind of empathy with the customer goes a long way. Menards, please put your customer service people through some better training -- and get your POS equipment fixed (another whole problem I am not going into). read more
