I was going to rate Menards one star, but thanks to one individual who provided a 5 STAR service, I'm going with 2 stars. We've been going to Menards for a number of years. Mostly for convenience and because as homeowners know it seems like there is always something that needs to be worked on, cleaned or replaced with a home. We've been in the process of doing some home improvements and some of our lights. With our regular work hours, there is not as much time as we would like to complete these projects. So I thought I would check out the Menards website which is also helpful when looking to see if they carry a specific brand or product. I was able to place our order through their website which was convenient and should have saved us a lot of time compared to walking through their store to pick up these items. We had ordered several light bulbs, materials for shelving, a storm door, door handles, etc. We had previously placed an order through their website a couple of years ago when we were working on our driveway and building a retaining wall. The benefit is supposed to be that your items are ready to be picked up in restricted area so you can (or should) pick them up, pay and be on your way. Unfortunately this time was the same as the last time. We checked in their security gate and drove around to the area where these items are held. This has the potential to be a great asset for Menards as customers can load up outdoor items like bricks, sand, plants, etc as well as this area for on-line orders. Well we got to the area and there were no employees around. So my wife and I both walked these isles to look for our stuff. We had ordered a door and figured that wouldn't be too hard to find. Well it was! We spent 15 minutes walking around. Couldn't find our order and couldn't find any employees back there to help. My wife (Bless her patience) decided to walk into the store to find someone. I was already frustrated but this is the saving grace. She find Gabe, an employee and maybe THE employee. Gabe located our order, even helped exchange a couple of items that were picked up incorrectly by whoever filled our order. Gabe was friendly, fast and efficient. Another kudos to Gabe, he picked up our storm door by himself ad loaded that into our truck with quite ease I would add. We eventually were able to make our way home after over an hour in which most of that time was wasted trying to locate our items and or an employee. Maybe we should have picked up our items ourselves. We are sure to be back again as ever since the Home Depot in town closed, Menards is the main place. We'll probably not use the on line ordering system and just do it ourselves next time. Or if we do, we'll make sure Gabe is working that day. read more

Thank you Kaytie and Kyle at the Customer Service Desk and Joe, the Building Department Supervisor! We purchased a deck about 3 weeks ago. We realized that we ordered 2 additional feet than we had room for in our yard. These 3 employees were phenomenal! We probably spent over an hour working on the adjustment and refund, but they patiently assisted us so that we would not buy a deck that we didn't have room for. Kaytie never lost her cool and she could have. We had to go through each item that was purchased and figure out if there was a change and adjustment needed. We knew this was going to be a long and frustrating situation, but they didn't buckle under pressure! Thanks for making it as enjoyable as it could be! They should get a bonus! read more

Currently the only home improvement store in Cottage Grove. They have a nice selection of merchandise and most of the staff is very helpful. Great selection of paint and paint supplies. Menards Cottage Grove has the best indoor lumber selection. Definitely worth the extra miles from Woodbury. Additionally their LP tank exchange is $4 cheaper than THD. read more

We returned some socks that had shrunk. We had the receipt but not original packaging. They made us wait for 20 minutes and were incredibly rude. With the amount of money we spend there it should not have been an issue. We will try to find an alternative in the future. read more

I went to Menards at their Cottage Grove location 2 days ago and had a dangerous experience. Someone who was stocking a cooler left a full case of a beverage in the walking area by the front cashier. While walking and having eye contact with the cashier. I took a brutal fall. Only a nearby customer tried to help and showed caring. When I asked to talk with a manager the manager was not empathetic or helpful. I ended up talking to 3 managers that day only because I was persistent. None of there management team showed any real concern or empathy. It was like they did not want to spend time handling this situation. After reporting my injury and damaged clothes. They said that I would receive a phone call the following day. It's two days later and I have not heard from them. Why would they treat a regular customer this way? Today I went to Home Depot and made a $250 purchase that could have been made at Menards! read more

We ordered window coverings for our entire house. It was a major headache. They did not arrive when they told us and then when we did receive them they were missing parts. When we went to back to Menards for help they were difficult and we had to jump through many hoops to get it resolved. read more
