Good thing Home Depot is right next door. They at least have what they say they're going to have, and their employees will smile at you.

Ordering online is easy, but the checkout process leaves a LOT to be desired. Not knowing I'd have to select next day delivery TWICE when checking out, my entire project was delayed and it cost money out of my pocket to recover/redo several steps outside the day AFTER I had everything (People, rental tools, etc...) set. This was due to the stuff I ordered coming a day late. The Menard's customer help center was no help. They pretty much told me to pack sand when I asked for a refund on only the delivery fee seeing how my products, that were supposed to be delivered "next day", were not. read more

This location is price gauging! They charged $30 for a restocking fee on a rug. The rug was purchased online and the rug had a very different color than what was pictured online. To return the item, they charged me a 25% restocking fee!! This is to the stores discretion...And the manager also told us they change the percentage of restocking fee based on the price of each item. We have told this story to many friends/family in Hudson! This is a terrible policy and will drive people away. read more

We go here all the time for our home maintenance needs. Great store, great selection- crappy service. The last two times I've gone, once for bathroom remodel another for 20+ bags of mulch, the staff act like I'm inconveniencing them by interrupting their private conversations with other staff when I need help. The two young females I specifically asked, as they were clearly not busy, gave me a whole bunch of shortness and attitude when I asked a question about a product. The security guy at the gate in the back was very helpful, and requested a staff member help me load all the mulch. This would have been my second negative encounter that day which was with a man "appearing" to be busy "sweeping" with a rumba looking thing in the lumber yard. He never said a work or offered help to me, he walked by at least 6 times. No one came to help after the gate keeper guy sent the page to the staff. Maybe we'll try Oakdale. read more

There are really only two stores to go to for home improvement supplies in Western WI. There is Menards, and there is Home Depot. Menards in Hudson is probably the largest store in town. It is gigantic and easily 100K square feet. The Home Depot is a converted KMart so it is not so big. Also the prices at HD tend to me be higher then Menards. I like Menards because of the friendly staff and the amazing prices. I also really like their grilling supplies. They have an extensive assortment of grills, supplies, and things like rubs and sauces. Only downside to this place it is is kind of hard to get to. I wish they had a n entrance right off of Carmichael. read more

When staffing ruins one's experience shopping at a behemoth endeavor like this, the only possible merits left to redeem it are price, selection and convenience and with the delayed savings of clunky rebates, why bother? Especially after tonight's rude staff hustling us out of the right department toward another and then when we came back to where we needed to be rudely suggesting we come back tomorrow rather than help us in the first place. Instead I will make an ongoing effort to support a more polite establishment with more informed and helpful staff. If you list your hours coming 20 minutes before closing should not inspire the worst from your inept staff. Hire and train better staff with greater alacrity and a more thorough knowledge to see things through. read more

We bought a fridge last Wed, and were promised delivery today (the following Tues). I waited all day for delivery. At 11 am, was told "It's on the truck, should be there soon." Hours later I called again, and they said we hadn't paid for delivery. We were given a delivery slip to pay for it, but apparently Judy, the cashier, had failed to run the charge through. As a result, I have been waiting all day for nothing, and now my husband has to take time off work to be here for delivery tomorrow. Very angry. read more

Will not be renting from Menards again which is unfortunate given all the business I've given to this local hardware store as a resident 15 years. They stepped over the dollar to pick up the penny from a customer service perspective today. Heading to Home Depot now. Customer service is king, Menards mgmt. Bought a can of paint here and the employee didn't put the lid on to seal it. It split all over my car. When I brought it up to Menards they turned me over to the claims company they use. They claimed the employee did fasten the lid. Here's the thing, they had no idea what I look like or when he helped me with the can of paint! They claimed that once you walk out of the door it's not their problem. Why would I open a can of paint in my car... So my car is covered in paint and Menards takes NO responsibility at all. Menards cuts corners everywhere and it shows in the quality, employees, etc. Too many competitors within a couple blocks to shop here. read more

Worst store for customer service! Hard to find things and no one ever offers to help. Wait and wait and search and search. This store is the Wal Mart of all stores in Hudson. Customer service counter people always seem pissed off like every person is a burden. I have only had 1 good experience where a longer term hardware guy went out of his way to help me. Otherwise I have vowed never to take step in this store again. The plumbing dept had 15+ customers on Saturday looking for things and 1 person to help. I asked a guy in the back driving a fork lift if he knew where an item was and he said no but I'm sure it's somewhere in the aisles and kept on driving. Got to the cashier and person in front of me had to items that had no bar codes or pricing which held up the line but thankfully the customer was kind enough to let people check out until they could find what he needed. Too bad the employees aren't as considerate. I say this place is like wal mart because the quality of products is crap however the customer service is worse than wal Mart.... Better off going to Home Depot where they will go out of there way to help. read more

There are always exceptions of course, but over time Menards is the go to place for DIY people as well as professional contracors. I have always found knowledgeable sales reps on the floor as well as a good product selection and decent prices. The "front end" people are some of the best I've ever dealt with. read more

Normally I don't have an opinion one way or the other on service at this type of store I find myself a little disappointed at their service when picking up my purchase at the loading dock. I was told to drive around and it would be ready in 6 or 7 minutes. 25 minutes later I am still sitting here and the person who was helping me is driving doors around on a forklift. read more

Needed a tub. Asked one employee in that department for help, she didn't know anything about tubs even though that is her department. This employee asked the other employee, Nikki to help us and she rolled her eyes, twice, as if it was a huge problem for her to help. I just picked the only cast iron tub that was on display so that I could just get out of there. I told them twice I needed a tub with a left hand drain, box said it was a left. Got home and it was a right hand in the wrong box! Last week I picked up an online order for 64 pieces of tile. The boxes were marked 1 of 6, 2 of 6, etc. Employees loaded my car. Went through the security, gave them my receipt, they checked all the tile in the back and let me through the gate. I got home 50 miles away and started opening the cartons of tile, I was missing 18 tiles, because the cartons were short and previously opened!! I can go on and on about this store in Hudson, wrong orders, no help. I will NEVER go to this location again. I had better luck at the menards in Oakdale, Mn and Eau Claire Wis. Bad management = bad employees. read more

Its a typical hardware store that is on the same level of Home Depot and Fleet Farm. I always find what I'm looking for when I go here, but I get really confused when I get to the register because the receipt/cc reader is not anywhere close to the actual checkout person. read more

Mom purchased a lamp shade. Fast friendly service.

I needed insulation. Asked twice to get someone to help me. Went to front and some guy with a bum ankle acted like I was an inconvenience. I ordered 15 rolls of insulation. I told the guy I could only haul 10 at a time and he said. Well just come back and I said sure. When I found some one to help me load. Charisse I think. She called the guy and said we only had ten rolls. The guy said I said I would come back for the rest! Little did I know that was the 18 OF JUNE. WHAT A MORON. If it wasn't for Charisse being so helpful in the loading I would of went elsewhere and I will in the future. read more

I saw easily 14 employees standing around doing nothing and maybe 2 other customers while shopping here on a slow weeknight. Not one offered to help me find anything or lift heavy shelving. When I did finally ask someone for help they grudgingly showed me where something was and then took off before I could ask anything else. The cashier was impersonal bordering on rude - no greeting or 'did you find everything you were looking for?' (For once I had an answer to that question) or 'do you need help getting stuff to your car?' or interaction of any kind, and you bag your own stuff there too.They should save themselves some money and install automated checkouts. Even though the Maplewood MN store seems to have a fraction of the staffing of this store there is no comparison in the customer service between the two. I generally go to Menards for building supplies or whatever, but the other day I called the building supply department with some questions. The guy I talked to was super rude and acted as though he didn't want to answer any of my questions. That put a really bad taste in my mouth with this Menards. Guess I will have to go to Lowes or Home Depot from now on. And then when you go to the store, it's impossible to find anyone to help you, and again when you do find someone to help you they act like it's a chore and they are rude. I have been an avid Menards supporter for many years. I am currently doing quite a bit of remodeling so have been in and out of the Hudson, WI. store quite a bit lately. I am so disappointed in the customer service. I have been treated rudely and as if I am "bothering" the sales associates. The young ladies in flooring and plumbing were exceptionally bad.
