I enjoy shopping around Menards. I especially love looking at the Halloween items, their displays are pretty fun. I was sad tgat as is already bigger than the Halloween section though. They have an impressive variety as it is a truly massive store. They have a grocery section, cleaning section, batteries, and more in addition to the building and construction items you'd expect in a place like that. The workers are friendly and knowledgeable so great service. I found just what I was looking. The rebates also make is a stellar place to get a good value. Make sure you keep your receipt! I trusted him and thought he was nice and helpful. When the rebate program came two months later, I went to the store, but he was not around. I left a message for him to call, and the next day he did. He said that he couldn't give me the rebate. I argued that his promise was a fact and it was wrong of him not to keep his word. He passed the phone to his boss, Josh, and when I told Josh the whole story, he insisted that there was no promise and that he wasn't there. I realized there was no way the conversation was going anywhere, so I stopped the call. I was angry that I was tricked into making such a big purchase. Electrician here, ordered a 50 amp "spa panel" that has a 50 amp gfci breaker included. The item arrived, clearly open box, damaged set screws on the breaker, and the icing on the cake, its a 60amp breaker. I expect this kind of stuff from Amazon and Home Depot, now also from Menards. I shop at Home Depot because I can at least open the package in store to see if its new. I will never shop from Menards again if they don't quality check RETURNED items and resend as NEW. Parents purchased a bed and box spring. Went to pick it up, turns out they had no new box springs that my parents purchased. They gave us the option of buying the upgraded box spring or taking the floor model. The weather was rainy so we asked if they had any covers for the box spring, so it wouldn't get damaged from the rain. They said no but they could saran wrap it. My brother looked online and found that they had covers available in the store. He basically did their job for them. When they loaded the mattress, they ripped the plastic on the truck. Never has any place of business upset me as much as this Menards has.. While shopping, with my cart about half full, trying to finish off picking up the other items on my list, I was approached by a manager who had notified myself and my wife that we needed to put on a mask or leave the store. I proceeded to tell her that I have a medical condition that prevents me from wearing a mask. She then again told me to put on a mask or leave.. What infuriates me about this is that my rights as a free citizen to shop where I want was taken away from me. I ordered a rigid vinyl stair nosing, and some idiot folded it up multiple times and jammed it into a tiny box! Now it is permanently bent and creased and is NOT usable! This has to be glued and you can't even get it back into shape to where you could even glue it! To make matters worse, you cannot call them. You have to email them with any issue. This Menards is bananas! This is the biggest, nicest Menard's I've ever been to (suburbs included). As an added bonus, it also has the best signage of any Menard's I've been to, so you're not wandering aimlessly through the store. I've always thought it was weird that Menards carries random, non-home improvement items. I still think that, but this store kicks it up a notch devoting actual sections to groceries and personal products (toothpaste, lotion, vitamins, etc.). After a trip to Home Depot earlier that day, we were impressed with size of the patio furniture display. HD and other Menards displays are paltry by comparison. Can't get lower than one star. That's unfortunate. It's also unfortunate that I ever ordered anything for Menards. No contact information, just a useless in-system messaging box that doesn't seem to go anywhere. I started getting emails at my address for someone else about an order I didn't make to an address I don't have. I responded every time in the Menards system but got nothing back at all. I finally got an email from Menards with contact info for the delivery company. I got in contact with them and all of a sudden that company and Menards were on the phone with me because of possible credit card fraud. As soon as Menards saw the charges weren't to my card the disappeared again and I still got the emails for that other person. As for me - I placed one order and got a text that they were out of stock on one of six items. They asked did I want the others or did I want to cancel the full order for a full refund. I chose to cancel. Then they send four of the six items and I still don't have the refund for the other two. All of that ignores that Menards adds a bunch of charges that you never see until after you authorize the charge to your card. Rip-off and fraud are what Menards sells. Never again. read more

I had a problem with an order, and they are VERY DIFFICULT to work with. there is a internet manager named Josh Kildahl....unable to get any response from him. total silence despite numerous attempts.Got a note back from someone named Ray...then total silence trying to resolve the issue. no follow up to MANY attempts to contact. Their internet sales set up is not set up well at all....they seem very inexperienced and do not know how to communicate with you to solve an order that did not work out well. or it may be intentional ignore you policy from Menards internet sales.... you will get much better support from Home Depot or Lowes....they know how to treat customers. This Menards is ok to average at best. Many times, they are out of stock on items that we need - forcing us to order off Amazon or online. The store is generally pretty clean and most of the staff are helpful. Only a few times have we experienced a negative interaction with staff - but only subtlety. Pricing is okay, but most of the time cheaper at Rural King. On a side note, Menards save 11% is getting old. Just let us do it online already. Huge Menards on the West Side! While I found parking to be ample, the store is huge and hard to navigate, and was missing a few things I was looking for. On the quest for a winter snow innertube, none could be found among the picked-over decorations one week after Christmas. Heard in the aisles "When is this stuff going to be 75% off?" Indeed. Nobody but bargain hunters are looking for Christmas stuff after the Holidays, so just get rid of it, Menards! No snow toys to be found! Wait, what's that box my foot is hitting by the Christmas decorations? One last snow tube box on the ground, it's fate! I found one employee here to be friendly and helpful, the next to be clueless and not so helpful. I can't believe this location doesn't have a Camping section. I mean, what if I'm going winter hunting? I know it's the West Side of Chicago, but you're also Menards. Don't be so proud you can't have a camping section, West Side Menards! I made purchases during the 11% off rebate program. I sent in the original receipts, as directed, waited the 6+ weeks and when I received the rebate amount it was less than the 11%. No calculations were shown, just a post card with the amount and a bar code. When I asked at the store they said I would have to direct my questions to the rebate service. I no longer had my original receipt and I did not make copies. My take is they really don't want to issue the 11% discount and when I checked pricing on items, the retail was about 11% higher than Amazon to accommodate the 11% discount which can only be applied to merchandise. I made an online purchase from Menards for a new kitchen faucet. The price was listed as $179 and you receive a merchandise credit for $19.69 for a future purchase. I had no plans to make a future purchase since I do not live anywhere near a Menards. But the price of $179 seemed like a good deal. After placing my order I found out that the faucet was out of stock and there was a three week backlog. I wasn't very happy about having to wait so long. After three weeks I was notified that there would be an additional delay, so I cancelled my order. I received a refund to my credit card for $159.31 ($179 minus the $19.69 for future merchandise credit). So basically I received a refund of only $159.31 for a $179 purchase of an item that they did not even have it stock. I will not be making any purchases from Menards again! read more

I ordered a kelroy lamp thru them to find out that they didnt stock the lamp that it gets dropped shipped thru the distributor. And when i wanted to find out a tracking on this order there was non to be found. And with that note it took over a month to get and when we got it. it was missing the shade, which now i have to try and get that thru the distributor which watch and it take up to 4 weeks to get too. Such bull crap. And lets see how long it take to get the rebate back from Mernards as well. I doubt that i will ever order something thru someone else other then the distributor in the first place. DON'T BOTHER TO ORDR ONLINE! OK so I needed a single 4x4 red oak post. Thought, hey, just order online go pick it up. Easy, peasy. Not so much. I show up to customer service with my receipt. I am told that online purchases are done in the back but hey let me check your receipt to make sure everything is OK. Sure it was so all I had to do was go to door F then go outside and it would be on the shelf by last name. I find door F which was about as far from customer service as you can get. Went outside and just found a disorganized mess. Asked an employee and he looked up my order and then told me the don't actually pull online purchases unless they are delivering. So, he pointed me to where my item would be. More walking only to discover he had pointed me to red cedar not red oak. Found someone else (who found someone else) who finally told me the red oak was inside. So, back to almost where I started where finally I got what I came for. The bottom line is I could have just gone in the store, gotten my item and been out in a small fraction of the time I spent. This was my first Menard's. I didn't even know what they sold for a long time after moving here. It's not like they have big windows facing the street. This one is so far from the road it looks like some ominous compound. Especially with the security car rolling around constantly with its lights on. But I'm a fan of this place. I like it more than Home Despot or Lowes. I feel like I get the selection of a big store and lower prices while still kind of shopping local. This is definitely a Midwest place, and i see they try to highlight some local brands (like Sprecher). This one is definitely a larger version of normal Menard's. A few months ago, when I first started going, all the employees were pretty lost as far as where everything was. Now they are a lot better, and can atleast send you to someone who knows if they don't get it yourself. Facts are, couplers often do not work, number graphics are decals often crooked and not flat, colors of cars do not represent close enough the colors used by specific railroad. I was told by an associate that the opened box item may be eligible for a percentage off. When I got to the checkout, Courtney was the cashier and her entire demeanor changed from the initial customer to mine. She did not say hello. She began to ring my items only. When I spoke to her about what the associate suggested, she immediately became snappy and said "no. We don't" I said well the associate was under this impression and I am only following up with you regarding what was said. I then asked for a manager because she did not seem desirable to continue checking me out. She stated that she was the manager and unscanned all my items and pointed me to a different lane. This was the most I felt belittled, unappreciated and inhuman. Ian the said general manager came and apologized for Courtney and said that that is the only thing that would be done. I usually do not post about bad experiences with customer service, but there is a need for sensitivity, diversity and conflict resolution training for staff that operated such as Courtney. read more

About the first of September, I ordered a 16x24 garage kit from the NW Menards in Wichita, KS. From the day of delivery the nightmare began. We began to realize that some of what was on the order weren't delivered and some items delivered weren't on the order! After much frustration, I asked for someone to come out and look the situation over and bring what was supposed to be delivered, and take back the stuff that wasn't on the order! Of course, they couldn't do that!! The first real major problem was that we were short two rafters. When I called I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to have them ready!! We ended up making our own. Later on, when it was time to place them and deck the roof, we discovered that they were made with the worst lumber they could find on location, I guess. They were extremely crooked and it was a battle to get them lined up correctly. I could go on and on about the extra trips, the worthless apologies, and an attitude that we just don't freaking care!! Today, I just returned over $1,300 dollars of unused material. Some items were like the gutters. I decided to go seamless. I also returned the two walk-in doors I had ordered. I had been told by two other contractors that they have had nothing but trouble with doors from Menards. Once the assistant manager started going through all the junk, he began to realize the true extent of the screwups! The doors I just mentioned were supposed to be identical. It turned out that one of them was a special order door. I can't really say what I was supposed to get, but they were to be the same door. There was a $70 difference between the two. At least the manager accepted the return on the special order one. Then, they delivered 1x6 metal facia trim, but the kit called for 2x6. There were supposed to be only 9 of them, but when they counted what I brought back there were 12! There were other smaller discrepancies, but this assistant manager was beginning to get the picture that I had a legitimate beef with Menards. But each time he started to utter an apology I verbally slapped him down by saying your apologies just don't cut it!! As I was waiting through the whole process, people were walking by and seeing all that was going on. I kept telling people that they should never buy a building kit from Menards!!! I went to their garden center for the first time. I usually go to Lowes or Home Depot for mulch. The Garden Center doors were locked. I had parked there because I assumed I could pay and come out the Garden Center door. I had to go to entrance all the way at the end of the building and then walk back to the garden center. They had no flat bed carts available even though it wasn't busy so I had to use one of the heavy carts used for lumber. And then I had to drag it back in the store to the checkout and then back to where I parked near the garden center. Needless to say, never going back to Menard's. read more

I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to tools and materials. When I asked a question to a manager about a hex key, the answer he gave me was very sarcastic. When I mentioned that I really needed it for furniture he said "we don't sell furniture". But they sell tools for cars, even though they don't sell cars. Then I found online that they do have a tool like the one I needed, however I bought mine at Homedepot. This is not the first time that something like this happens to me. So maybe if you know what you need and you don't need to interact with employees, this is the store for you. In my opinion, the company should train their employees a lot better. Rebates never came. I remodel homes & always shop at either Home Depot or Menards. Prices are mostly the same. However I prefer shopping at Menards when they have 11% rebates. The problem is that my rebates didnt arrived for months. Worse off, you cant just call the store where you purchased the items. After waisting my time sending them multiple emails expressing my disatisfactoon & ready to give up I finally recrived the rebates all at once months later. Recently had a charge for $900 show up on my account, filed a dispute they sent me a letter saying they are valid as they have a picture of someone (not me) going through the line swiping a card which I am in position of.
