Had a terrible experience with a cashier named Lyssa. I was paying for my items and presented a Menards store merchandise check to her. As I was bagging my items the scanner where you pay read "insert credit card" to pay for my purchase. I did and returned to finish my bagging. What I didn't know was the in store check covered my complete purchase. Lyssa hands me the in store check which had a small remaining balance. She then starts ringing up the next customer purchases on my credit card. When she realizes this she rudely says "why did I put my credit card in the scanner ?" "Now I have to void this and a call a manager."The manager comes over ands she sarcastically tells her a loud lie/ version in front of other customers like its my fault.Neither Lyssa or the manager ever apologize. I can"t believe how condescending and rude these women were. Lyssa does not have the personality to deal with customers. Who is hiring these angry women? I'm not sure if she even has the skillset to retrieve the shopping carts. I will not be spending my money here no more. read more

I purchased an upright freezer and when it was plugged in and less than 24 hours, the unit became very hot and stopped working. I moved it to several other outlets in my 3 car garage and the same thing happened. I called Menard and at first was told they would replace it. However, the next day I received a call from John who told me the trouble was in my electrical system and not the unit without doing any inspections. He told me he would come out to pick it up. When no one came on the promised day, I called to find out why and was out on hold for a General Manager because John was not at work. The GM told me that I would have to pay $125 for them to pick up the "defective unit" even though I had purchased a 5 year warranty and a guarantee return policy within 30 days. The length of time was less than 2 weeks. I was so disappointed and upset that I told the GM that I would bring it back myself and wanted a full refund. The last kicker was when I asked where to return it and she said at the customer service desk in front of the store. Really, just dragged it into the store . She finally explained how but to me, this whole situation was nothing but horrible. It will be a long time before I trust this Menard. Oh, I still want and need an upright freezer read more

Unlike home depot and loews, menards uses prime customer parking spaces to park their rental trucks. Customers who may not be disabled but have health challenges could use those spaces to reduce their walk to the store. Revenue is more important than convenience for thr MAJORITY of their customers. When I asked a store manager about this, he stated it is customer service for a few who rent their trucks rather than the MAJORITY of their customers. It's telling that they don't show the trucks parked in those spaces on their local commercials. Thank God their competitors don't feel that way! read more

Menards is Our Goto location whenever we are doing yard work, or home repairs and organization. We are always able to find what we need. The store is always stocked and there is always an associate available to assist or to point us in the right direction. read more

They do a nice job and the staff is helpful (if you can find anyone). This location has a confusing plan-o-gram but if you are patient, you can find what you are looking for eventually. The price is right and they are open long hours- which is helpful when you are in a bind. The customer service counter is a tough position but the girls that work there could be kinder and more patient with customers. read more

Menard's, unlike Home Depot, is more profit focused instead of customer focused. They have taken all of the prime parking spaces up front from their everyday customers for their rental truck customers. Home Depot parks theirs in the back of the lot. When asked, a manager stated they are customer focused and try to make it convenient for their truck rental customers. Their regular customers are not a priority. read more

Great home store to shop at looks like they are ready for Christmas already and it's only October 13, lol. I found everything I was searching for. I would only go to home stores with my hubby and never really checked out what they really had to offer. I spent to much time in Menards today I really will be back to make more purchases here in Matteson I also was able to find help which is rare in lots of stores. I would recommend checking out this location it's nice, clean, organized and brightly light. read more

I actually went here to look at the Halloween selection and to buy dog treats, for my mother's dog. Weird I know, but excellent selection of dog treats! Comparable to normal pet stores. The customer service from LaRaegon when the cashiers ran out of bags was excellent she procured one for me without any problem! read more

Will NOT return to this location! After I checked out, my sister and I were heading to the door, I asked her to run back and grab a few more bags. I wanted them for some paint and a few other lager items as to not risk damage to the carpeting in my new car. So my sister grabbed a few bags and was walking towards me when she was stopped by an extremely rude female employee! The woman completely embarrassed us and acted as though we were criminals telling us that we couldn't take the bags! I was trying to explain to her that I needed the bags to double bag the paint and chemicals that were not bagged... when an even more rude female employee walked up to add more fuel to the fire! Both women continued to badger and humiliate my sister and I and would not let me explain! My sister then handed the bags over to them and we left!!! HORRIBLE!!!! I spend a lot of money at Menards and so does my sister! We won't be any more! read more

Rainy day mishap and dropped mask in water. I went in to buy masks. It went horribly. I was told to leave by customer service. When i continued to the nearby employee and explained i was there literally to buy masks they said go to customer service. They angrily glared at me and ignored me. I have had consistent good service at this location. I've needed hemp on various departments and usually the help I get is spot on, often turning into a thorough conversation with suggestions on how to make the project more successful. From public art projects to materials for a student assignment to so many home do it yourself activities, this Menards has been the source of materials and advise. Every once in awhile we run into someone who seems clueless, but they're usually new and catch on or move on fast. They have lowest prices than the HDepot down the street but it's not really a fair comparison because what I can't find in one store I can get at the other, still better prices at Menards. Also, they tend to carry different brands. This is my go-to hardware, fix-it, project supplies, hey let's paint the garage floor store & install wall hooks...hint hint...I know you'll read this. Their carpet machines are broke. We rented, brought it home only to find it didn't work. They switched it out quickly so the customer service definitely wasn't lacking but the broken machine was placed right back by the others so I'm unsure of what was going on there. Not even a sticker to say it didn't work was placed on it. We brought the new machine home and low and behold it didn't work either. We brought it back once more and they were just as nice and quick to refund it so again, the customer service was really good. The machines just suck. read more

This place is really nice. It feels very home grown and friendly. Maybe because I've been visiting this Menard's since I was a kid. The new layout is taking a little to get used to but the store feels larger and even has some grocery items. Soap, snacks, milk, and bread. The people there are really nice to their customers and it is a pleasant experience to go there and pick up items for the home. Menard's is a hard ware store that aims to be a one stop shop. There have been many times where I have been shopping there and said "Oh I need to get some paper towels or soap" and I can get it right there. I haven't checked to price match any of the products but I'll pay two extra dollars for convenience and saving fuel. 5/5 would visit again read more

I've been to many home-improvement stores. The staff at this particular Menards is incredible! Ben in the paint department should be the store manager if not the district manager. Stacy at the front desk is always a pleasure and always has a smile on her face. Any time I walk into the store, every staff member has a smile on the face and is ready to help you. For Home Improvement Stores, this one is way below average. Many of the staff have very little knowledge in the areas they are working in. I was not able to get staff to navigate through looking for special order request in their system. My purchases of multiple items ended up not being the same. I had to go back and return one. Menard's should consider changing the classification of their store to a DEPARTMENT STORE, rather than focus on home improvement. read more
