I went to the Matteson store yesterday and was very pleasantly impressed with the young, well trained staff. Although the 10 ft. dryer duct was not in stock, the young man who helped me went to all levels to try to find it for me. Additionally, I needed to purchase a circular light bulb and couldn't find it. A very helpful young lady asked if I needed help and found it for me. This store provides ridiculously poor customer service. This morning, 10 AM, I ordered a product I need to be delivered to me today. It is advertised as free delivery and in stock at the Matteson store. Guess what? My credit card was charged, the Matteson store cancelled the order. Here we are waiting for something we need today. I got no email or text saying it was cancelled. I ended up calling the Orland Park store to see if they could deliver it today. Well, that can't work because it's late afternoon now. Furthermore, I was told by Orland that when a store cannot deliver an item, they are supposed to call the customer. They also told me "that's been a problem with the Matteson store". Fortunately I don't typically give my business to Matteson. But it's horrible that they can't even pick up the phone to call me. This store must be managed by idiots to let that be an acceptable business practice. I will never buy anything from the Matteson store again, but I doubt they care. They need new management, considering their overall ratings score. I'll be sending an email to corporate about this experience. read more

The Manager on duty David, told him, " it comes with instructions". He didn't bother to come and assist. It's very disappointing . My wife and i walked in to ask a question at the pro desk in the evening. There were 2 employees there talking. I didnt catch both their names but ones name started with Yo and ended with Da. Not trying to expose more than necessary but if you work there youll know who it is. Anyways i said hi and they kinda looked at me, continued their conversation for a lengthy amount of time. Finally i guess they said what they wanted to say and finally deemed us worthy of attention. I explained the situation, being very specific about what i wanted to purchase and one of them walked off and the other one with a purple beanie proceeded to bring another employee, stating i had a large order " of some stuff idk what ". Clearly having a conversation had exhausted her to the point of confusion and a general sense of not caring because then she kinda wandered off aimlessly. At least the employee i talked to next was competent and helpful. But this is exactly why i DETEST home depot. If i never went there again i wouldnt care at all. Employees chit chatting while clearly aware youre there but dont care, or sometimes non existent. This is not the first time ive seen this and wont be the last im sure unless HD starts cracking down on this behavior. read more

I stopped by Home Depot because I am recovering my kitchen floor. Surprisingly, the home improvement department was not that busy. This incredible young men name Bret provided me with outstanding service. He helped me pair and match tiles to a sample I provided. He also made several calls to different stores in search of a tiles. Bret was also honest when he did not think a tile would match. It has been a long time since I have received this kind of service. We came into the store to pick up items for my daughter's project for school, "A Catapult". We meet Johnnie B who was omazing and willing to help! He explained things about wood, screws and bungee cords. Screw drives and more. I was clueless, so was my daughter. He got the wood, measured and cut, and sent us on our way! The process was painless(for the most part). And if it had not been for Johnnie B's expertise-we would have been in there all night with ME attempting to find what was needed! Thank you Johnnie B!!! I am very upset with Home Depot in Matteson, IL. I ordered a patio door from Valerie Thomas In August (no date on the order) and was billed $2,557.51 in August which I paid IN FULL. FINALLY I was given the date of today, SEPTEMBER 26 for installation between 8 - 10 A.M. I get up early and get ready for them and get a phone call at 9:18 saying they can't come today because they need a "coil" so the door wouldn't leak but THEY DON'T HAVE THE COIL! Now I have NO IDEA when I'm getting my door (WHICH HAS BEEN PAID FOR SINCE AUGUST!)!! They never have what you're looking for for especially in the garden center and the peoples that they have working in the garden center. Don't know anything about flowers and plants. They are just as lost as I am so when you hire someone get someone who knows about plants and flowers I need someone to be able to help me and not only that is a bad spot. It is hard to get a hold of them on the phone - you just need to dial the right extensions. Once you do, their service is superb. They're even able to hold items for me so I don't have to get lost and lose time running around the store stressed. Also they cut my blinds immediately when I asked after they reserved the right ones for me. read more

I preorder 50 sheets of cement wonder board. When I got to store nobody knows anything and I have to wait over one hour to get boards on my truck... lazy people on a phone didn't do a good job. Order was made on Thursday 9-3-2020 around 3 pm !!!!!!! I will never come back to this location. I just want to sing praises for "Larissa"!!!!!! She showed the epitome of STELLER CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! She did it all! On last Monday May 18, 2020 I stopped by the Matteson store after a Drs. visit. As usual, the people who were supposed to help customers all heard the same "call" and would actually start walking the other way. Well, I took the purchases I'd made to the counter to be rung up. But again, what I had in the cart was the wrong size. I needed a 50 lb. bag. Larissa called for assistance, and a person came to get the number of bags into another cart. Long story short, my husband pulled the car up but the young man who had put the bags in the cart was...gone! Larissa had been relieved and SHE got all the bags into my car!!! She is SOOOO PLEASANT...She deserves an "Employee of the Year" Certificate and any other incentive HOME DEPOT has for her! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I love the Home Depot Matteson location! As an Account Manager of a Construction Company I shop this location frequently and my experience has always been great! I was overjoyed with gratitude when Cleo walked my Boss and I through different pieces of wooden planks for a bed. My Boss and I were very grateful for Cleo's expertise on measurements regarding bedding. Cleo made sure each wooden plank was carefully measured and cut to perfection. Cleo insured my Boss and I that everything would work out perfectly, which it did! When my Boss and I carried the wooden planks home to our client and they fit perfectly on her Queen size frame! Now I have to wait 2 weeks for replacement flooring to arrive and all they would do is give me free shipping to my home. Home Depot in Matteson is a department store for almost anything you would need for your home. It is a popular store chain store, so I will spare the details on what you can find while shopping. However, Home Depot in Matteson has extremely friendly personnel! The men and women who work in the paint department are exceptional! They are patient with all customers (as you know some can be a little indecisive with paint choices). The paint personnel are knowledge of paint and all things in reference to repairing walls, sealing decks, painting or staining furniture, refinishing cabinets, refinishing countertops, etc. I like to complete DIY projects, and I can always stop at the paint desk and get an answer to my question. But, the level of customer service does not end in the paint department. I have been in the lighting department and received great service. I have also been in the garden section and received great service. And, I have been in the tool/hardware section and received great service. For me, this is what sets Home Depot on a higher bar than some of the competing home stores. All personnel seem knowledgeable about their department! read more

Employees are rude. Stood at desk for 15 minutes trying to rent a carpet cleaner there was at least 5 employees behind the desk no one acknowledged me. I asked if someone was able to rent the machine out the girl responds "I'm on lunch I'm not even on the clock". Then why are you back here? Then an employee decides to help and asks the man BEHIND me how can she help him. Thank God I've been going to church because old me would've picked the rug doctor up and threw it in any miscellaneous employees direction but I just grabbed my keys and left. Come On Home Depot! How hard was it for your associate to pick out a Hampton Bay box and a Hampton Bay button that work together?! He personally handed me the doorbell push button telling me that this would work together when in fact it did not GGGRRRR... Oy. We needed a new doorbell. We thought we just needed a new, battery-operated push button. So, we bought just the button. Well, it was not compatible with our existing doorbell box... With the help of an associate, we picked out a new box AND a compatible push button. We get home,and I begin to assemble the new box and push button Bell. I put the batteries in , and I do everything properly. Then comes syncing the doorbell to the push button. And nothing happens! After 20 minutes of frustration. I decided to call the number on the packaging. I consider myself a fairly intelligent woman, and I couldn't figure out why they were not working together. Comes to find out, the associate did not sell me a compatible button after all! So now, I have to go allllll the way back to the store get a refund and buy the proper unit.. Come On Home Depot! I had a great experience in the store. I found all the seeds I needed. I also found the mulch. Checkout went smoothly and I love having the receipt sent to my email. However, the mulch bags were rather heavy and the lady at checkout offered me assistance putting the 3 bags in my car. As I waited for the assistance to arrive, she suggested that I bring my vehicle to the door. I drove to the door and waited some more. One of the employees walked thru the parking lot and avoided eye contact as he returned to the store...rude. I managed to drag and lift the bags into my vehicle. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE APPLIANCES ESP WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY I purchased 4 new appliances from Home Depot; dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and a range. The range had to be repaired within the first year- okay things happen. Then my dishwasher had to be repaired within the first year - again things happen. Then my dishwasher broke again, after the original warranty was not valid anymore. I did purchase the extended warranty - and thank goodness I did!!! A repairman was sent out to my house 6, YES times!!!!! Finally after the 6th repair it seemed to be working. LOL turns out it worked for a few weeks, before it stopped working again. Not only did it stop working but it leaked. So now my kitchen cabinets have water marks on them!!! Does the insurance or home depot cover this loss, absolutely not!!!! It took over 2 months to get the dishwasher repaired, albeit temporarily. Now the repair company that came out the first 6 times, won't come back out. They say they have done whatever they can. I asked the extended warranty company how many times will they try to fix this before they replace it or do something else, idk anything??? Well , turns out there is no maximum amount of visits. That is correct. I made sure, I asked even if I need a repaired 150 times?? Yes, even then they will not replace. To say this is inconvenient is not giving the frustration enough validity. I bought new appliances so that I could actually use them. Not to sit around multiple days waiting for a repairman to arrive and then not be able to fix the problem. I do believe the repairman was intelligent, I believe it is this dishwasher. I am so unhappy with my dishwasher. I did lots of research before I purchased this dishwasher, because I have not had much luck in the past. This dishwasher cleans my dishes when it works but that is not often enough!!!!!! Sad to be giving my home town Home Depot only 2 stars today. Hopefully I can update with more in the future if they get Philip out of the appliances and kitchen cabinet area of the store. We live in this Home Depot and have spent more money here than we can count. From garden section, custom blinds, lighting-indoor and outdoor, paint purchased so many times, ceiling fans, the list goes on and on. Water filters, flooring, just everything. Today was looking at kitchen counters, tile backsplashes and under cabinet microwaves as well as cooktops. Asked Philip to point us to the cooktops so we can take a look and he said this area is not the market for this item. What?!! I'm pretty sure our entire subdivision has them. Went on to say we should remove any way and get a range. Told me I should remove my double oven which I love and make it a storage for pots and pans. Said it's probably small oven I have any way.
