I've been a long-time customer of the Ontario, Ohio Menards and have spent well into the six figures here between personal and business purchases. This experience is unacceptable. For the first time ever, rebates I submitted totaling nearly $1,100 were denied, despite following the same process I've used for years without any issues. These rebates are a major reason I've continued to do business with Menards, and having them denied is extremely concerning. What's worse is the lack of support from store management. The Assistant General Manager I spoke with was dismissive, appeared to laugh off the situation, and refused to offer any help or attempt to resolve the issue. Customer beware: if you are relying on Menards rebates, understand that they may not be honored. I will be reconsidering where I spend both my personal and business money moving forward. read more

MENARDS -ONTARIO , OHIO A great store ( especially now that it offers more than one Electric cart for disabled shoppers ) ! If you are looking for a little bit of this and a little bit of that , MENARDS won't disappoint , as it features everything literally from soup to nuts , With ample household , plumbing , electrical , automotive , clothing , grocery ,construction , plant and pet items all mixed in between ! ( then there is the appliances , toilets , doors , windows yadda yadda And even books , Thrown in for good measure ) The facility is clean , well lit and suitably stocked with the fore mentioned niceties . Bins are laid out logically and with the appropriate directional signage above the various aisle-ways. There are plenty of Menard " shopping assistants " roaming those aisle-ways, who can point the discombobulated shopper in the right direction, as SOME merchandise may not be shelved in the area that one might logically expect . Clerks are pleasant and most are smiling and eager to assist IN MOST CASES. There is one BIG bug-a-boo that I recently encountered , that reduces what could have been a five star rating for this business , and left it instead with a " meh " three star average . I am disabled owing to knee surgery and require the use of an electric cart to do my shopping . All went well for me UNTIL it came time to check out and pay for my purchases ( which totaled 19 items at $ 123.45 ) Even tho it is evident that I am disabled , There was absolutely NO assistance in bagging my purchases , leaving me totally ignored once I slid my credit card and got my receipt . Sadly , The check out gal continued to process the customers in back of me , with me , still seated in my cart , struggling to try to bag 19 items by myself , with a couple of the items even falling to the floor . Had it not been for the kindness of passing CUSTOMERS , who took pity and aided me in my dilemma , I might still be there trying to CHECK MYSELF OUT . ( Shame On you Menards For apparently not covering how to handle this type of situation in your employee manual ! ) This kind of Amazed me , ( and left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth ) , as Kroger's , Walmart, Home Depot , And Lowe's ALWAYS assist in bagging the purchases of the disabled PRIOR TO checking out any of the people who are in line in back of them . My conclusion : Ali , the young lady who was running the cash register , was either too focused on the next person in line to pay attention to my dilemma , OR proper Customer service training has not taken place at that particular Menards store . At any rate , the least she could have done was to call one of the floating aisle assistants to help me in bagging my items . Will I go back ? Yes , maybe once more ..... just to see if my dilemma was an odd occurrence or if it is standard operating procedure ! If it happens again on my return trip , ... I will confine My future shopping to Lowe's , or Home Depot ( both of whom DO ASSIST those requiring additional help ) I have often wondered about the amount of money that these national companies waste in advertising in their attempt to bring you into their stores , only to ignore you once you've arrived . read more

Horrible experience. Lowes and Home Depot are superior options. Do not recommend. Many others have told me about similar experiences here.

It is absolutely embarrassing the way they treat their costumers. I won't be going near that place.

We do a lot of shopping at Menards, having replaced the roof on our house and another building on our property along with renovating a couple of rooms inside. NOT ONE SINGLE TIME DID WE RECEIVE THEIR ELUSIVE 11% REBATE! What a joke! Just take the cost off at the register, you may keep a few more customers. read more

I went to our Menards, 1991 Walker Lake Road, Mansfield, Ohio. I had my daughter, her man and granddaughter with me. She went to service desk to check in our rebates (How to use them) while granddaughter and I drove down to Garden area. We spotted our plants took to inside to price and find "Flooring" to replace bathroom floor. ALL 4 of us looked around for 25 minutes trying to: 1. find the wood and 2. find a worker. I finally told granddaughter watch our cart and took off looking for a sales clerk. Spotted one and he directed me to the right side of the garden area. He pointed saying someone over there can help you! WHAT! So we 4 go over. I spotted a clerk, (Bluetooth in ear) on a computer. I say to him; Is this where I check on your wood for my flooring. HE YANKS HIS EAR PLUGS OUT OF HIS EARS AND, AND SLAMS ON THE COUNTER! WHAT! HE gave me a disgusted look and proceeds looking on computer. He tells me nodding his head to his left that I go over that way. I said ok, thank you and walked towards my family. Shook my head and informed them what was said. My daughter said he is rude and I agreed. I said let's go thru evidently don't want to work or help out. We all agreed that is our LAST time to step in at MENARDS. I will spent more money to go check out at Lowe's or Home Depot, But NEVER, EVER get MY money again. I Am sending THIS letter to copy on MY FACEBOOK page and to the Better Business Bureau. I have been a loyal customer at Menards Ontario store and have seen great improvements in customer service since it was opened. Now I am very disappointed at service today in check out line. I had many items mostly for my birds and they reached clear down to the checkout register. Usually the cashiers help put things in my cart and bag up so everything is out of the way for the next sale. Not today, I had to do it all while Hannah went ahead and waited on three more customers while I was still bagging and getting more and more frustrated. The customers were signing the credit card machine located right in front of me, Interrupting me and making me even slower. I told her that this was not the usual care given at Menards and she just turned her back to wait on someone else I have never been so disrespected at Menards. I reported it to manager Brittany. I called back to see how that went and manager said, I heard both sides. So much for my excitement for all the good things I gathered up at store. Menards customer service is on the down path if this kind of service is condoned. I thought success and jobs at a store were created from many happy customers with full shopping carts such as mine today. read more

I'm a Menards lover. It isn't so overwhelming like Lowes or Home Depot and they have many random things (clothes, candy) that I enjoy perusing. At holiday time they have a really great selection of trees and lights that I always love to shop. The hubby and I remodeled our bathroom (in our old house) and used Menards products. This location is very nice and clean and has friendly staff. They have a fancy key machine in the back of the store that makes copies - the employee was great and showed us how it worked. My favorite is the 11% rebate time. If you plan it right and purchase big ticket items during this time you can get a nice in-store credit rebate. We bought our Christmas tree and some other holiday items and got a nice rebate several weeks later that we used for a new bathroom faucet. Overall, Menards is my favorite home improvement store. I highly recommend. read more
