I live in San Antonio now but I am originally from Missouri. So on my trip back at Christmas we had to see what Menards was all about. I had no clue what to expect. I mean they have it all. From cleaning supplies, clothes, food, tools, flooring, bathtubs, furniture, dog toys, Christmas decorations, kitchen supplies, etc you name it they probably have it. This location has been up and running for several years now but somehow has never been listed on Yelp. For general needs, such as holiday gear, electrical needs, nails or screws and thee like this is your place. For power tools however try one of the big box stores that start with L or H. Unfortunately this locations power tool selection is pretty limited, as they focus primarily on their own brand which is pretty low grade. I went in for a drill, circular saw and universal tool kit and walked out empty handed. One of their display drills was actually rusted where it was mounted to the display. If it can't even sit on a shelf in a controlled environment how is going to perform under real world conditions and how does an employee not notice this and remove it from the display? They have a bit of everything but don't seem to have any sort of coherence in their layout. As the saying goes, 'they are a Jack of all trades, but a master of none.' If I need something like an electrical cord I would stop here for convenience, but for something more specific I would shop elsewhere. read more

Don't think that picking up an order will be easy because the lazy guy at order pick up is worthless. I had to go inside the store to find someone to help me get the rest of the order. That gentleman was nice and helped me however it shouldn't have required me to search the store for help, that's not why you order online for pickup. Waited in line to buy some economy studs, I know these would not be a perfect board but after 30 minutes to get a ticket and going out back to find a pile of boards that were either returned after being used to frame forms for cement or being destroyed from pulling all the nails out I decided to go wait I. Line to get my mo ey back. Was not expecting used lumber. A hour of my day waisted. So, an adventure to say the least. Went there to purchase materials to build a new deck. Spent over $4400 dollars. My first issue came almost immediately. They called 2 days after we made the order to tell me a railing had been damaged. They made me come into the store, (I live 25 minute away from the store) just for me to look at to confirm it was damaged so they could order a new one. Next is a chronological order of happenings. 1). Was promised a delivery date to my house no later than 6/3/19. Order didn't get delivered till 6/11/19 due to the fact that they didn't immediately order the replacement part when they said they would. 2) when the builder started on the deck, they noticed that there were missing parts. Had to drive back to the store to talk with them about this and get it set straight 3) when it came time to do the railings ( remember back to the damaged one) all of the railing that were delivered were the wrong size and kind. Again, had to go back to the store. This time they had the right ones in stock, but also couldn't get them to me till the next day and pick up the old ones. This was on 6/21/19 4) 6/22/19, the railings were delivered and old ones were taken away. Crew came back out for another day to finish. Getting closer to finishing, they noticed that they didn't deliver one of the stair railings. I was out of town, and received the call. I then had to take time to contact the store AGAIN to get my order fixed AGAIN! They did deliver the rail, but at the same time, holding up the builder even more. After spending almost $4500, having one issue after another, no real apologies from any management team personnel. Having to jump through hoops that I should not have to had done, I can conclude that Menards, at least in Springfield, Mo is not worth your time. They treated me like crap, and no apology. I've spent thousands at Lowe's through the years with no issues, and I go to Menards once and spend $4500 and get the worst experience of my life. Never again. Purchased about $20,000 in kitchen cabinets here and it has been noting but a disaster from that store, department manager Simon refused to help, I asked for store manager and he refused to get him involved, from not disclosing we had to put these cabinets together to it taking hours for pick up of cabinets, to fork lift damage to some cabinets, it has all been a terrible fiasco and we are considering a legal action against this store. Has anyone else experienced the same with Menards? Also I have yet to see payment back on any of my rebates sent in at the beginning. read more

If you try and return one of their products that is faulty or poorly made if you don't have a receipt forget it they do not back up their products with even in store credit with no receipt. They don't even let you trade it for the same exact product . One that actually works read more

This store is okay for an occasional purchase, but I would never use it as my primary home improvement store as long as they have their outdated rebate program. They are so far behind the times, they might as well be giving out green stamps as a promotion. You can NEVER buy an item at their sale price. You must go through a mail-in rebate process just to get a lousy 11% or 2% discount. They also allow a very small window of opportunity to even apply for the rebate before the receipt expires. If you shop there often, the rebates would be quite a pain in the butt. The only reason I don't give them one-star is that they have a great junk food snack selection, and the best bird-feeding supplies and food selection in town. read more

I just shopped at Menards for the 2nd time. I was under the assumption that I would receive 11% off my bill, well that's not the way it works. You have to fill out a card, and mail it in, and I only have 4 days. What a deceptive con they have going on. I will be returning the items, and never shop there again. read more

We run a local flooring installation business here in the Springfield, MO area. We have had nothing but horrible experiences with Menards. We have always recommended our customers to the store for flooring but never again! This was the last straw for us. Our current customers had gone in to buy carpet. Not only did the salesman have no knowledge of what he was selling, but he also had no knowledge of ratings of the carpet that was sold. He has absolutely no knowledge of how flooring is even installed or how to measure. These combined have cost us as a business, at minimum a thousand dollars in time and money. They went and was recommended by the so called carpet salesman to purchase a carpet that has to be glued down. Mind you they are buying for their entire house. Thinking he knows what he is talking about they special order the carpet which was on back order and also did not let them know until after they had paid. That delayed our install a week. We get the carpet in, and they had precut every room without having the correct specifications/measurements. On top of that when we, the installers, show up to pick up the carpet for the customer we are dumbfounded as to why the salesman would have even sold this to them. Not only was is a horrible and cheaply made product with horrible reviews but it is not even a carpet that can be stretched in. We then meet the customer to return the product at Menards and explain how disappointed we are that this was even sold to them. We help them pick out another carpet for them home along with pad and get it ordered with the OVERALL square footage that was needed. Again, Menards proceeded to precut the carpet without having the correct information. These people have no idea how to install carpet and should never precut anything. Carpet has to be cut according to the direction it is to be laid in the home. They have no idea how it is laid out, or which room goes where and should never have taken a blade to the carpet period. They once again ruined that carpet. Being as how we were running out of time and with the customer having their house out of sorts and flooring torn out it was important that we work with what we were given. Once we had the carpet to the house we realized that in their so called professional cuts, they shorted us an entire room because they did not have correct measurements required to actually cut the carpet the correct way. We spent 2 hours on the phone with the flooring department as well as the general manager just to be told they would not fix the issue. And proceeded to blame everyone else for the mistakes that the store had made and told us the owner will just have to buy more carpet! The next morning the general manager called the customer and worked out a price for the extra carpet that was originally included in the order.....they could buy it with a discount. Unbelievable! but because of the short amount of time we have left to get the job completed, the customer has in a position where they had no other choice. So once again, we spent another work day driving half an hour back to the store to pick up the carpet. We get there and they had not even pulled it or cut it yet. Then they could not even find it. We spent an hour waiting for 250 sq ft worth of carpet. Listening to the employees argue over the walkie talkies. We finally get back to the jobsite, start installation just to find out that the product that was purchased for the entryway (plank) was damaged in the box! Again we called the store and took a trip back to exchange it. Got there and they are out of stock and expected us to drive another 45 minutes to another store to pick it up! NEVER AGAIN WILL WE EVER SEND ANOTHER CUSTOMER TO ANY MENARDS IN THIS STATE. WE WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEIR STORES AND WE WILL LET EVERYONE OF OUR CUSTOMERS WHY THAT IS! HORRIBLE STORE THAT NOT ONLY HAS NO ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRODUCTS THEY ARE SELLING BUT THEY DO NOT DO THE RESEARCH TO HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE WHEN SELLING THE PRODUCT. retired and on a budget I found a damage 2x2 pc of damage wood. its marked 21 dollars so ask the guys in back at the service desk for a better price. they in turn ask the guy on the walkie and 9 dollars for this poor broken board sorry guys and i put it back where I found it and on the way found a stack of 2x2 board perfect condition for 6 bucks. seems menards wants your last dollar read more

Horrible store. Multiple visits, not one positive experience. Latest two days ago was the worst, went to customer service to complain, a woman was already there and very upset. 3 reps, two just shooting the breeze, one guy to help us. He was condescending and dismissive and was the absolute worst customer service rep I've ever seen and I was surprised the customer in front of me wasn't angrier than she was. To note, I'm a 56 YO military veteran, been to a dozen countries and 10 stateside bases over 30 years of service, not even the stores in Paris France was as appalling as this store. First off, I want to make it very clear that I do believe in providing a safe shopping experience and keeping social distance in these trying times. To be quite frank, I was appalled in the way Menards conducted their practices. I have a condition preventing me from wearing a mask safely. When I explained myself stating I'm exempt per the state ordinance, they still denied me entry. When I confronted them asking if they are above Missouri Law, their response was "no, but this is private property and we may do as we see fit". Please tell me one thing. If murder is against the law, does it become lawful on private property, as per Menards policy? Sure I'm blowing it out of proportion, but I'm just trying to get my point across. To be fair I agreed to a mask (even if it was detrimental to my health) but instead of providing one, they decided it was fair to charge me. So here I am in this dilemma. Either I take a loss on time and fuel driving 35 minutes one way there or pay for the mask. I'm out here struggling as is trying to make ends meat. Secondly, what ever happened to freedom of choice? Not that I'm saying every choice is the right one, but it's still a freedom of choice. My family immigrated from a communist country to America for a better way of life. What I see happening in America is blowing my mind! If we the people don't take a stand, we will soon be stripped away of our rights and have dictatorship govern us. If I had nothing better to do, I would file a lawsuit against Menards for closing it's doors to a customer during business hours. That there is unlawful and makes you vulnerable to lawsuits.
