I got to rep my favorite store! It really has just about anything you would ever need. I love coming here for some more unique selections compared to HD or Lowes. Some of their lightning fixtures are my favorite I've seen, especially for the money. I frequent here a lot, and only had to come back once to have something replaced. When I did, it was quick and easy. I also love the fact that you can scan your credit card you paid with and reprint your receipt. Very cool idea! Once again I got sucked in and not in a good way. Went looking for spring plants because their website and ads say new plants arrive daily. If so it must have been only 3 plants as most appeared heat or wind damaged. Ugh wasted the time so decided to go in looking for project pieces. Lots of great displays but told they do not stock any of them...again ugh. Did pick up 2 foam cushion pads for sitting or kneeling that appear to be a good deal at 2.for 5 bucks. Went to check out and plants that were clearly placed in one price area rang up a buck more each....that is when I remembered why I rarely shop there. If a business needs.to make prices bar code only then signs should be honest and large enough to be seen. Well my bad for forgetting the store does this kinda thing. Won't be back for another year or two again. ...But the parking lot had plenty of open spaces!!! read more

After ordering a "custom" front door I was informed I had 24 hours to call and make changes or cancel. When I called with updated dimensions within that 24 hours I was told that I could not make any adjustments as the door was already finished. They had gone off of standard frame dimensions and built the door to big for my doorway. When I asked to cancel, still within my 24 hour window I was told that was no longer a option because the door was already finished. How can you have a 24 hour cancellation policy if you are building the door in that first 24 hours?! After arguing for the store to uphold the policy they state to have I was told that my only option was to return the door but still have to pay for 25% of it. Complete bullshit. I will not be returning to this store for any of my future purchases. Very disappointed in the customer service of this company. read more

Great Menards! Has a great selection. The store is very clean and the staff is very nice. They can answer about any questions you may have.

I visited the store today 3/13/14 and walked around the store for 5-10 minutes before I was able to find a representative to ask for help. When I finally found someone (Russ) I asked him if he could please help me find something. He replied "I'm in the middle of something- I'm busy,"put his hand up in the air toward my face, and then just walked off. I was taken back by his actions so greatly that I stood in disbelief for a few moments before I went seeking out someone else to help me. I ended up finding what I was looking for after finally finding someone to help me, and they also seemed that I was an inconvenience to them for asking. I wouldn't recommend this Menards location at all and would completely avoid it if you can. Customer service is everything and they seem to need some serious help. read more

Menards is like a home improvement grocery store / almost everything for home wonderland. And I'm talking inside and outside of a home. I literally saw an ad in the paper for how much it would cost to build commercial size: garages, Barnes, homes with Menards . This place is just awesome. Although, not everything here is a deal. I've found that there are some items particularly in the cleaning and even garden parts that aren't as great as your local Walmart. But here's the thing, Menards will definitely give you a lot more options. Well, you know it really even all depends and some of those Walmarts. I think it's kind of cool, that they had this little grocery section going on in the back. I think the location of the grocery section is off, and that it should be close to the registers. I just like that they really had I'm was damn near everything. It made it a lot easier for me to find all the tools that I need for my job as a home inspector, as they did have are wider variety of tools compare to Home Depot and Lowes and Walmart. You know, I really don't know what there really is to say about Menards because it is just so huge. You just get lost here for hours. To really utilize, and see all the benefits that Menards has to offer you really have to make a day of it. This may benefit you for break the bank. Either way it's definitely a blast window shopping here. For the garden / lumber landscaping area... That area is just way too big for his own good. Either way I love the store, I recommend coming here. I think what would make it much better is if it could offer furniture options. Like, what if they blended Menards with an Ikea?Would that be like an homeowners Disneyland? read more

We purchased a refrigerator online and it was "delivered" from our nearest store. The drivers were supposed to bring it in and set it up. Before they even get it off the truck they start talking about how it won't fit through the door. Now this is a STANDARD sized refrigerator so it should have fit. We had the exact same refrigerator delivered and set up through Lowe's at our previous home and it was a little tight, but fit. Well, turns out Menards delivers them WITH the doors on to guarantee it will not fit through your door. Oh, and they have a policy that will not allow the to take the doors off to get it in your home. So, they just dropped it in my driveway. My husband had to take the doors off and get it in the house by himself. I contacted someone from Menards and was told I would get a discount since they did not satisfactorily deliver my refrigerator however that has not happened and it has been 2 months. read more

We had a big landscaping project to do this weekend, and after checking the prices elsewhere we went to Menards to pick up retaining wall blocks, dirt, etc... I ended up having to go back and forth to Menards 6 times over the course of the weekend to pick up over 200 walls blocks and make decisions on wall caps and rock. I was thoroughly impressed with all of the employees that I worked with, from the order desk to the garden center, the back gate and especially the guys that loaded the truck. Great service! I think it really depends on what you are shopping for. I was in the other day looking at plants and they seemed like they were pricier than Lowes, but then I saw a wheel barrow that was $30 which I thought was super cheap! I do like buying dog stuff there because it's cheap and my dog destroys everything. read more

This store is ridiculous. Let's start with the fact that their checkout lanes are set up backwards compared to every other store. Sometimes the cashier has the presence of mine to finish helping the current customer before working with the next one in line. But sadly most of the time this is not the case and you are a bum rushed out the door as soon as you pay. This happened to me today my cashier name Jackie on the receipt would not send merchandise down the conveyor belt because it was dirty. Understandable. But instead of helping us with our transaction she moved on to the next in line and created a bum rush situation where we were forced to move out of the way of the next customer in line. It seems obvious that Menards is not interested in customer service and only the greedy bottom line. More times than not after shopping at one of their stores we leave in a bad mood after being bum rushed out the door. Save a couple dollars and have a horrible day. read more

My fiance and I came to Menard's looking for retaining wall bricks for our garden, but we were left with a bad taste in our mouths after asking for help. We had previously bought bricks at Lowe's but ran out and wanted to check out a greater selection. The selection at Menard's is by far superior, but the customer service is not. Phil, our associate, did not seem interested in helping us as, clearly, we were confused as to what bricks would compare to the ones we had purchased as Lowe's. He walked us to the selection and stated, "I'll let you figure it out," and walked away. He clearly cared little about us or our business. We left and bought our remaining bricks at Lowe's. read more

Went out there to buy flowers and lawn applications and saw weed killer was on sale. Picked some up and they told me that the sale tag was wrong and refused to give me the price listed on the shelf yet they put the price in the wrong spot. Not one price tag but six price tags were on the shelf. They blamed this on consumers shuffling product and tags around. How absurd! The checker was very apologetic about the situation and felt bad since she saw for herself the prices were in the wrong place and the product was clearly marked wrong. The management made excuses and refused to justify the $3.50 price difference that was their mistake instead of losing a $50 order and a customer that regularly goes to their store. Management will run this store into the ground with their consumer is at fault attitude. read more

We made a decision to purchase paving bricks from Menards rather than from the 'other' big box stores. We are happy with our decision. Staff was eager to help and were highly visible. We earned a rebate in the form of a gift card which went MIA. We contacted them to inform them we hadn't received it, so they promptly canceled the original issued card and sent us a new one. We have since made several purchases from the family owned business, ranging from kids toys to lumber. Their lumber is top notch, better than the before mentioned. We will continue to shop here. read more

Menard's customer service is horrible. When a custom island was shipped, it arrived broken and they took no responsibility. They reordered the item and the second time it arrived, it was cut improperly and had to be reordered again. I am out $200 to my contractor for their product failures and they refuse to reimburse me. I have shopped our local Menards often and am very wary of the way they do business. If you come in for their sale items, check your receipts at the checkout because they often charge you full price for items that are on sale. Also, I came in for a saw that was on sale in an ad. They didn't have it at the local store. I asked them to order one for me like Lowe's and HD do and I'd pick it up when it came in. I offered to pay in full. But they refused and told me I would have to order it online to get the price. I did so and they charged me $30 for freight. The store would not refund it, and I called corporate and they could care less. Same way with buying construction lumber, you pay first and then drive back and pick it up. If the lumber is bad or crooked, they make you drive back to the store and stand in line for ever to get a refund. Now I only buy stuff I can see at this store, check my receipts before I pay, and I would not buy anything there that you have to rely on the store to honor a warranty. Good place to buy bags of concrete, bricks, mulch etc. and check your receipts. Bad place to buy most other items. Menards management needs to wise up and see how the other box stores treat their customers. I can take uninformed sales people, and occasional mistakes that are corrected. But Menards folks seem to think that crooked and indifference are acceptable after they take your money. read more

DO NOT BUY COUNTERS OR CABINETS FROM MENARDS! This has been a 3 month chaotic stressful mess. First our cabinets were delivered broken and pushed this project back along with other small minor issues . The biggest issue was they ordered wrong countertops that were installed that we paid for. All was asked of menards was to come deliver and install correct counters since it was there mistake as they placed the order for the wrong countertops . They refuse so now we have to have the wrong ones removed and pay to have the correct ones installed. The GM manager was no help and basically just acted annoyed with us . Of course we cant get any kind of response from the corporation office as we have reached out to them too. I am just so disappointed as my husband and I have gone to menards for many things and have been loyal customers and they are not willing to work with us on this issue and have been very un professional. I would not reccomend using them for any major projects as if they make a mistake they wont fix it . read more

I am DONE with Menards. It is the most inconvenient place to purchase items. Prime example: I was planning on redoing gutters on a home I own. I went to gather my materials. Of course the gutters where inside the store and the fascia was 1/8 of a mile away in the outdoor lumber yard. The aluminum nails were somewhere in the store. I never found them prior to walking out. The left end gutter end cap, although improperly marked, was simple enough to find. Right next to the right end gutter end cap you ask? You would think, but you'd be wrong. I did eventually find the right end cap though(2 shelves below at to the left of the left end caps)...but really!? So if I want the gutters I can pay for them via the checkout counter. But if I want the fascia I have to place an "order" with an employee (that's an allusive bunch) and pay for it at the cashier. Get in my truck and pick it up in the lumber yard. Or I can walk the 1/8 mile and bring it in myself and pay via the cashier. That's just one example but it is typical of multiple experiences I have had at Menards. I have about $200 worth of rebate checks. I am going to sell them to my neighbor because I'm done. Which brings me to the fact that those rebate checks can't be used for online orders! I've walked out of Menards several times. The savings aren't worth the inconvenience. I won't even consider buying my lumber there. It's like a fantasy forced labor camp in that lumber yard. I love walking up and down stairs for my lumber. Oh yeah, when you advertise patio furniture on sale and the store is out of the item and won't be getting more in stock because it's a SEASONAL item. Please don't tell me that the first weekend of April....What season do you think patio furniture is popular!? The season is right before summer in a little season I call SPRING! Just wanted to add my latest Menards comedy of errors story. I had placed an order online to be picked up at the store. I get an email saying it was ready to be picked up. I go to the store to pick it up and much to my surprise they couldn't find the order. This was discontinued tile so they wouldn't be getting more. So I went to refund my order. They ACTUALLY refused to refund the processing fee! LOL. So they lose my order forcing me to cancel it but they still charge me a processing fee. WOW!!! What a joke of an operation read more

This review is about the very poor customer service at Menard's in Ballwin, Mo and menards.com. As a new company in St. Louis, their customer service is surprisingly indifferent and disrespectful of building customer relations, their staff are very poorly trained, and their online/brick-and-mortar connections are incoherent. In late April, I found a decorative fluorescent ceiling fixture at menards.com, learned it was only available online, but decided to order 2 and have them shipped to the Ballwin store. They arrived after about 10 days. When I went to pick them up, I went to lighting and learned I had to walk to the far back to shipping and get them off the rack myself. I checked them and discovered one had a broken latch. There was confusion about what to do at the customer service desk -- I asked for a small discount or some remedy since the item was damaged. I was told by the manager of the lighting department that the online menards and the physical store don't have anything to do with each other, and so no discount was available. They could do a zero-zero exchange for a new one, but the new one had to be ordered from menards.com.; it was not in the store. I asked for it to be sent to my house; after checking, the manager said that could not be done. However, he offered to send it by local Fedex to my house. I agreed with that remedy, thinking it was courteous customer service. The manger said he would personally take care of getting the fixture to me as soon as it arrived, and invited me to call or email him with concerns. Then there was a screw up in the zero-zero exchange, causing a longer process. Altogether these screw-ups caused a simple pick-up to end up being a one-hour process. But it doesn't end there. I got an email around May 10 saying the fixture had arrived. I expected to receive one or two days later. Finally, on May 16, I called and also left an email for the manager. It took him 6 hours to return my call. At that point, he said he overstepped his authority and could actually not send the package, but he was going to do it anyway -- on Monday. So he had not done anything until I called an emailed, and was causing further delay by not arranging the local delivery until 9 days after the package arrived in the store. I told him I'd pick it up, even though it's a 50-mile rt drive to get to Menards. Conclusion? The president of Menards needs to get some training at Nordstroms, Target, or Costco, places where customer service is a priority and staff autonomy in making good decisions on behalf of the customer are clearly evident. They need better coherence between their online and physical stores, so managers don't just say, well we don't carry it here and I can't possibly discount or otherwise remedy damaged goods. Am I going to shop there again? nope. Am I going to share this story with my friends, and social media connections? Yes I am. Get your act together, Menards. read more

I went in today to purchase a microwave oven. I found one that I liked and was ready to purchase. It was a display and I was told I could purchase it and it was new but there was no box and the warranty would still be in effect. When the sales person pulled the oven out I noticed there was a good size dent on the top and side of the oven. I asked if they would get any more in and was told they did not have any on order and did not know when they would. That told me this was probably a discontinued item, which was ok. When I asked about the dent the sales person went to talk to the manager and came back and said he would discount it $15.00. Needless to say I was not impressed. The manager did not even come over to look at it and I decided not to purchase the oven. I think this was very poor management and he did not respect the customer. Stay away from here! if you are complementing a major purchase first try to contact customer service at corporate Menards. Email is the only way. They don't care about you. Email and "Ray" will act concerned until they figure out what store you were at and give you an GM name there and a phone number who didn't didn't help me in the first place. I bought custom cabinets flooring custom counter-tops and a sink. Time to have the order delivered, they say we don't have the sink you ordered and now it has been discontinued. I paid cash for everything at once, now they won't refund me the amount that I paid for the sink. They are happy to give me store credit. Since they sold it to me and they failed to meet their obligation they should refund it the way I paid for it, and they should be sorry for their failure. do not shop here unless you have no expectation of customer service, that way you wont be disappointed. read more
