We used to refer many people to Menkes Auto, however, ever since Chris Housholder and his wife took over the business. We have received reports of basic work requests that have turned into very expensive problems, and it seems they are targeting single women and younger teens. We no longer would ever recommend this establishment. This is just heresay, as of now but so far we have heard several people saying the same thing, and it all seems to be happening only to our younger generation that doesn't know any better. We have a master mechanic now and will be referring elsewhere. We are not personal customers of theirs; however, if you have been advised to go there for service, just know if you've read this, you've been warned. Their shop is pristine clean and they did my major repair in a timely fashion. This place is amazing. Lots of parking and big signage is just the start. They have a nice, open, well lit and clean waiting area. You can see what is being done to your car through the large glass windows. There is even another larger waiting room for families that has a couch, t.v. and counter for kids to sit and have a snack. They are quick and efficient. They keep you updated on the work being done on your car and the manager, Tim Midgett, will answer all of your questions. He is professional, polite and very pleasant to deal with. They have thought of everything to give the customer everything they need for a great experience and make your visit comfortable while they service your car. My mother who is a widow has taken her car to Menke's now twice-- after being told by others that there were serious issues with the car. Both times, the wonderful people at Menke's have called to tell her it was not what she thought it was and it was the first time, not her alternator, but a battery. This time it wasn't her brakes but a leak. They even took the time to look it up, and call my mother and let her know it was covered under a warranty and she should take it back to the dealer she purchased it from. They could have just fixed it and charged her, but instead they went out of their way to make sure she was taken care of and told her to submit under warranty. If you want ripped off this is the place to go. They charged me almost $300 for diagnostics and repaired nothing. When I ask the attendant at the counter why the diagnostic was $300 and made the comment that other local shops do free diagnostics or charge $100 at the most, the answer I received was "we are not them and that's how we do it." Good answer buddy. Glad to know you care. I will walk before these jokers touch another of my vehicles. They deserve a 0 star rating. read more

Not impressed with the service. Called ahead on Wednesday and dropped off that night with a set off items to look at. I was told car would be looked at thursday afternoon or friday morning since i told them i had a monday appt at a paint shop. They finally called at 317 on friday saying they really hadn't had time to look at it. Asked to keep it into the next week and played dumb when i said i had to drop it off at paint on monday morning. Picked up monday to a $100 charge for changing 3 fuses. They said my fuse box didn't have power but when i took it to an electric shop, they said that wasn't the case since everything else worked. The things that really got me are the two things they told me now worked. 1. They said the radio worked. Well, the wires that were in the passenger floorboard begged to differ. They got power to radio but didn't hook it up to anything. 2. I asked that the horn work for safety. The horn button wasn't attached to wheel. They told me they fixed it, but when i got in the car the button was on the floor. When i called to ask about the charges, they told me they had put several hours in diagnostics and didn't charge me for. Don't see how that happened since they couldn't have spent more than 90 minutes from original Friday phone call. Really disappointed and when they called to check on my service, they did NOT care about my concerns. I won't be going back and you should think very seriously about who does your mechanic work.
