On the drive out, we stopped by Blackie's Pasture (our horse-crazy little one insisted!). We will certainly be back.

The grassy lawn area is perfect for outdoor events. When there's a concert or community night, people show up early to throw down blankets, bring snacks, and settle in for the evening. It has that relaxed, family-friendly vibe that makes it feel like a true neighborhood gathering spot. One of our favorite events used to be Comedy Under the Stars, which was always such a fun night out. I didn't notice it on the schedule last year and really hope it comes back. The Hot August concert series is another event we look forward to every year, although last year's lineup felt a little lighter than usual. The venue itself is simple but well set up for events. The indoor restrooms are usually open, and when they're not, they bring in porta potties for the bigger nights like the summer concerts. Helpful tip: arrive early with a blanket or lawn chair so you can grab a good spot on the grass and relax before the event starts. Final verdict: absolutely worth it.

The park next to it is a great place to chill and read a book as you hear the fountains of the pond. When I lived close-by I used to walk my dog around here and relax on one of the benches before walking back home. Occasionally you'll find some red eared slider turtles in the pond. If you want a place to relax, this park is always nice and quiet during the times when school is in session or in the morning.
