This was, hands down, one of the worst retail experiences I've ever had. I went to the Men's Wearhouse at Auburn Mall (MA) to pick up a rental, and from the second I walked in, it was clear that professionalism is not a priority at this location. No one greeted me. I had to walk to the back of the store to find four employees lounging around in jeans and t-shirts, glued to their phones, laughing, and joking like they were hanging out in a basement--not at work. One employee (Mike, I believe) half-heartedly handed me my suit and pointed to a fitting room, then went right back to the group with zero further assistance. But what truly crossed the line--and made me furious--was what happened while I was checking out. These employees were loudly making jokes about a friend or coworker "probably being gay," laughing and carrying on like it was comedy hour. As a gay man shopping with my partner, it was offensive, inappropriate, and honestly disgusting. We felt completely disrespected and unwelcome. To make it worse, I sent a formal complaint to Men's Wearhouse corporate and never received any response. Radio silence. If the suit hadn't already been paid for, I would've walked out. Absolutely horrible service. On 02/10/24 at 1pm 3 employees were standing around talking and on their phone. We had an appointment to get my fiancé fitted for a suit. The attitude and atmosphere of "how dare we talk to them." The younger employees gave absolutely no effort of wanting to help us and tried to pass the job onto each other in front of us. After taking two measurements they told my fiancé a vague measurement and told us to go grab it ourselves. After that they immediately went back on their phones, laughing, and talking about the employees social media pictures. I would have rather they hid in the back from their work duties instead of blatantly ignored customers to their face and act as though they are being inconvenienced. read more

It is no wonder this store has such a low rating!! If I could give a zero rating I would! My husband went into the Auburn, Ma store to rent a full suit for a wedding we were attending in California. $260 He was picking the suit up in Calif. Everything was great.. go to calif., picked up the suit, tried it on in the store.. great length. All good. Until we are getting ready for the event and there are no belt loops. And he was not advised to get suspenders. Those tiny little cinch waist clips are a joke! We spent thousands to attend this wedding 4000 miles away and my husband spent the 2hours with his hands in his pockets so his pants wouldn't fall down! We left right after dinner. I expressed my disappointment to the managers at the Auburn store and in the end they offered a $12 refund! No thanks! That is an insult to the consumer. Do your job! Make recommendations so that the customer will be comfortable in the product. My husband didn't know to check for belts or ask for suspenders. That is the sales persons job!! And don't insult us with a $12 compensation for missing a very special event we flew cross country to attend. Shame on you! You took our money and our chance to make lasting memories! read more

Just went to get 2 suits and shoes today. They honored a 30% off coupon I got an email for shoes. The custom tailored suits where a very reasonable price. Most importantly the staff where very kind and being as attentive as possible with the limited staff they had. I'll post an update in 3/5 weeks when my suits come in. read more

I picked up a suit from here for a friend's wedding. The first two times I went, I dealt with a young male employee who seemed like he couldn't be bothered to be there. Both times he asked what I did for work and how much I made. I though that was pretty rude. And the second time I went in, he was in the back on his phone. After walking around aimlessly and yelling "hello", I poked my head in the back to see a disgruntled employee who had to actually get up and do his job. He measured me lazily and that showed when I tried everything on. I have been a 34" waist for the past 5 years and that hasn't changed. He measured me as a 36" and what a surprise the pants were too big. I even told him I wear a 34" but he couldn't be bothered with such information. Then I try on the rest of the suit and the arms were about 3" short on both arms. The pants were also about 3" too short. Thankfully there was a tailor in the store who was helpful and the employees this day were nice and really good at their job. I don't recall his name but if a store manager happens to read this, the young man with a scraggly brown beard and long bangs was perhaps one of the worst retail employees I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. If I could give this location less than one star, I would the most awful experience, the most awful customer service the worst I don't care attitude when you come to people in your darkest hour, needing a suit for a funeral and they called to tell you that it's totally ready. Here we go with my first ever Yelp review... and it isn't a good one. Went here for a pair of suits for my son and I for an upcoming wedding. Wish I had read these reviews earlier. Anyway, the store was a mess, boxes and scrap paper all over yet several employees were sitting around doing nothing. The one manager was a nice younger guy, I'd say he was doing 90% of everything getting accomplished while the other three kids were literally watching him zip around and help people. After watching this for a few minutes the manager asked one of the other staffers what he was doing right now and the kid said "nothing" yet there was a wedding party looking to get fitted and another couple browsing in addition to us. I said to the kid "you could clean up a little" and gestured at the mess (grumpy old man over here) but he laughed and said "he (manager) doesn't want me to vacuum when people are in the store." Somehow a tailor appeared and we were fitted... thankfully I only needed my pants hemmed but my fitness fanatic son was a bigger challenge with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. I asked several times if the suit we were trying on him was just not meant to be altered to the extent needed but was assured that it could work. We made the purchase and were promised they would be ready in two weeks. Bonus! In less than a week I got an email saying the alterations were done. I called the store around noon on a Monday to ask what time the tailor worked so we could be sure my kid's suit was well tailored when we went to pick it up. The gentleman on the phone said "he's here now" which wasn't answering my question. I repeated that I needed to know WHEN he was not IF he was working so I could PLAN on coming in vs whether he happened to be there right at that very moment. He said "Well he is usually here until maybe 7 or 6 pm... Or like 5. If you want to be sure be here by 3." I did not follow this well thought out answer with another question because there was no way things were going to get better after that gem. We ended up going later that day (I figured the best approach was just to go get the suits ASAP and take them to a real tailor if necessary) and when I arrived a few minutes ahead of my kid a new stoner employee approached and asked if I was all set. I said I was picking up a pair of suits but hoped that the tailor was there if possible so he could opine on the fit of my kids suit (I didn't use the word "opine" come on!) because he was wide across here" and I gestured across my shoulders. The kid said "so he's like fat?".... *stunned silence* Ahhh... just get me the f*%&ing suits so I can leave. With one manager getting 90% of the work done this store could easily jettison the three other staff, pay one slightly more qualified person instead, and be much better off. It's always busy in there, there aren't many places like that around, it is surviving despite it's best efforts to fail. Based on the history of reviews here, this doesn't seem like a new phenomenon, nor does it seem as though Lauren from menswarehouselistens.com is doing much listening. FWIW I still don't think my kids suit was tailored very well. I'm taking it to the local tailor today for adjustment. JFC. This is the absolute worst retail store i've ever experienced. One gentleman walked around like he is so miserable and does not even acknowledge you are there. I though oh maybe he is just having a bad day, NOPE!! everytime I went in he was like this. The manager tried to sell pants to my son that were 5 inches bigger in the waist and inches beyond inches to long. She had no clue what she was doing. ONce we met with the tailor she told the same girl to go get a different coat because the one the girl recommended did not remotely fit. The tailor said to me she does not know what she is doing. I asked to hold a tie and the lost the tie. Then they promised the suit would be in on a certain day and time we go in and the first girl said it was not there. The second girl said the tailor was working on it!! I explained my son had left school and this was my lunch!! she said come back in 45 minutes!! I could not be there so when my son tried it on I was not there, WEll,,, it doe not fit. I call today which is two days before prom and the same miserable guy said there was no tailor there, Then said there is. Then said he would call me. I said you people never call!!! I just got fitted by a young lady that was obviously high. She was wearing sweat pants and a sweatshirt. 2 hours of the most unprofessional experience I ever had just to be fitted for my friends wedding. I'm positive that the measurements are wrong and will have to take time to go back this week. My friend was also being measured by another staff member who was also high. She kept bringing up how hungry and thirsty she was. Both employees kept distracting each other and calling each other "bro". I understand that the whole country has staffing issues but honestly the store would be better off without her. I usually am not one to even write a review or complain but I think this is warranted. Pathetic customer service. I went to mens warehouse today to order 12 tuxedos for my wedding. One for myself, 8 groomsmen and 3 family members. From the minute we walked in ("we" being my mother and fiancée) the best way to describe the experience was pathetic. First off, I was told that horrible quality tuxes are $130; less horrible quality is $150; and meh quality is $180, and we should be excited about this because the competition is worse quality than what mens warehouse offers. Mind you that price is the last thing on my list as far as consideration. So now that I've been basically told that it's going to be $180 per tux, we noticed a formal style that I asked to try on. Bob our "customer service" (term used loosely) assistant said, "oh, let me explain a few things to you, you can't try on any of our Tuxedos. You need to pick one out and we will measure you and have it for you the day before the wedding". Now, I've been in 6 wedding parties and have always had an opportunity to try the style on to make sure that the 44R fits right. I explained this to Bob and he basically called me a liar. He then told me that Mens warehouse has 900 locations and that they control the tux market and basically I will not be able to try on my tux anywhere I go so just pick a style and move on. I was not satisfied with being told what I can't do, so I said "you don't have a sample one for me to try on"? Bob stated that with 900 locations it would be impossible to carry sample coats. Mind you that this is Mens Warehouse and there had to be at least 1000 suit coats in the store, but the style that I will be wearing on the most important day of my life is not something that they would even consider carrying. At this point my fiancé took the jacket off the mannequin for me to try. Bob was clearly annoyed, but although he was creating anxiety for me, putting on a jacket that was a size too small eased my mind a ton as I realized that I liked the style. So despite being told that I can't have anything my way, I'm still in. I want the tux. Next, I ask about vests and Bob shows me a raggity black satin vest. I say that I would prefer a nicer quality one and he immediately says that I can't have a different one. I see plenty of other nicer vests and ask about them and again am told nope. When I ask why, Bob says that you have to buy those. OK...... I'm about to drop 80K on a 300 person wedding and I can't have a nice vest if I want one because I have to buy it? My reaction was Seriously dude, just walk away from me. I'm done with you. I'll I've been told is no since I walked in the door. What kind of customer service is this? I work for a fortune 10 retail company and I am appalled at the lack of service that I was receiving. I would call it disservice. At this point I walked out of the store, my mother and fiancé were trying to salvage it with Bob, but he could not see that he made the act of renting a tux an impossible task. If he was doing what Mens warehouse trained him to do, then Mens warehouse is heading towards extinction. We left and headed for Mr Tux on the other side of town where I rented a tux for prom and to my surprise, Mr Tux now had a Mens Warehouse sign out front. Looks like maybe they are taking over. Against my better judgement we go in to see if we get the same treatment. So, they had the same selection and when I ask to try the tux on, I am told, sure. I was even able to try on pants, and shoes, and jacket and shirt! I felt like a freaking king to be able to try on something I'm about to invest $1500. What an amazing concept. They even said that I could buy the vest that I wanted! What a concept, I seriously hope they were not breaking corporate rules as Bob made it seem earlier. So, we spend about 2 hours in the shop meticulously picking out each of the 12 tuxes and go next door to lunch. I send texts to my groomsmen to go down and get measured By chance my fiancé realizes that she had a coupon and goes back to see if they can apply it to the tuxes and in a very nonchalant way, is told that "oh, the tux style that you choose is not available until a few months after your wedding date. Want to pick another one?" Are you kidding me? We told you our wedding date in the beginning and now we have to start over? It's not like your saying that we need to pick different socks. This is the actual tux what we are talking about. What if we didn't come back, would you ever had called us? And how about an "I sorry for wasting your time for the past 2 hours, let me make this right". Nope. None of that. It's our problem. No apology, no let's make this right, just tough cookies, nothing we can do about it. I mention that you might want to actually do something with the wedding date if you are going to ask for it, mind also take that tux off the floor until it is available. Friend has a wedding in January. I'm the officiant and need a new suit preferably wool or tweed that matches color scheme and is heavy fabric for winter. I walked into the store and the first thing that I noticed was the employee stood incredibly close to me while I looked at to tan suits. Then a second employee came up to me and asked what I was looking for but quickly devolved from there. I explained that I'm an officiant and he couldn't grasp the concept of marriage without a priest. I felt like I explained it very kindly but he still couldn't get it. "So you're like...impersonating a priest?". He then asked me if I needed robes or a suit. I calmly explained again my role in the wedding and what I needed. He then took me to view the only tan suit in the store that was a light linen. I felt that the linen might be too thin and I'd be cold in January. He then says "you're the one who's faking being a priest and now you're being picky?" I asked if he was okay and he just kind of stared at me. The suit fit great though, right off the rack! Went in to get fitted for a wedding which is registered in their system. Us groomsman have to buy our suits and they fitted me for a gray suit. Thank god I texted the groom (since It was clear these employees had no idea what they were doing) because I would have bought the complete wrong suit as ours are supposed to be blue. Then they told me they had none of the pants in stock anywhere and told me to order them online to the store or my house and to come back in once it's arrived but couldn't even tell me what I was ordering and wouldn't order it for me. They continued to measure me for my sizes anyway and I told them I knew I was a 33-34 waist and he measured me and told me I was a 38... Not sure how that's possible as I was currently wearing 33s. Complete waste of time and staff is out to lunch. Not to mention there was a hose coming down from the ceiling tile dripping water into a trash can in the middle of the store. Had a specialty suit made for our daughters wedding didn't look good before it was altered looked even worse after alterations. He also had a shirt altered the sleeves were to short and twisted. I have to take it to a tailor and hope she can fix all the problems. Going to take the shirt back and it's too late about the suite. Sorry but I wasn't even happy with the fabric looked good when we looked at the small piece of fabric they showed us, very poor quality when the suite came in. Plus they gave us the suite wrinkled. So disappointing!!!! Called ahead to make sure I didn't need an appointment, they said no so I went in with the intensions of purchasing 3 suits. First of all it was like a free for all. We waited about 30 minutes until finally a gentleman was free to help us. He started sizing the 3 men I was with and then abruptly left and sent someone who it must have been his first day and he had 0% knowledge on sizing. My son is only 5'3" and the clerk was trying to get him to try on a 46L even after repeatedly telling him that he needs a 46S. The clerk thought that the L stood for large and the S stood for small and when I tried to explain to him that the L is for long and the S is for short, he had no idea. Probably not his fault because he was never trained. Then to boot there was no tailor working on a Saturday???? What is the sense of getting fitted if we have to go back when the tailor is there. I would think they would have told me that when I called!!!!! Really bad overall experience and they lost out on a sale of well over $1000. read more

Don't bother making appointments for a certain time. Just show up and wait about a half an hour for someone to notice you and help out. My experience is as follows: Upon arriving a little early for my appointment time, I looked around for someone that I could let know we were there for our appointment. With no one around besides those manning the registers, I finally got into the check out line near the tux rental sign and waited in line over 15 minutes for the customer in front of me to get checked out. When it was my turn, the sales guy moved to the side of me to speak to the customers behind me. When I said, Excuse me, he cut me off and said that he was helping 3 customers before me and doesn't have time and went into a speech about leaving the other customers to help check out the guy in front of me. (All I was going to say was, who do we let know we are here for our appointment time). He then made passive aggressive remarks to his customers about how people need to wait their turn, how the holiday and crappy weather brings people out etc. I then waited another 15 min, (now I was late for our "appointment) before someone came up to help me. Three years ago my sons were part of a wedding party and were fitted for their suits. My husband picked the altered suits and was told they were all set and did not need to be tried on. When the suits arrived to the church for the boys, my oldest sons pants were too short and my youngest's suit jacket arm length had been hemmed so it reached his elbow. Luckily, someone in the wedding party had a hem ripper and let the hem down. When I called the next day to complain, Dennis, I believe he was the manager was reluctant to return my money, This week my oldest son has prom and I wanted to offer Men's Warehouse in Auburn another chance. Again, my son had fitting and was told that the look he wanted could not be achieved because he was tall and skinny. He needed a long vest but because he is also thin he would need a small. Because the vest was too short for his torso they recommended a higher wasted pant, which was not the look he wanted. When the suit came in, three days before prom he went in to pickup his suit. After trying his suit on, his pants were two inches too short and the hem on the sleeve were uneven and one was two inches from his wrist. When I commented that the sleeves were uneven the sales man said, "They are fine." After complaining they offered to alter them again as we waited. Again, my son complained about the high waisted pant and the salesperson told him, "Thats the look and its part of being a man versus a boy." My son is seventeen and wanted to look like young man, not "Urkel." This Men's Warehouse will not be getting our business again. We drove to the Men's Warehouse in Solomon Pond Mall and had a wonderful experience. The staff were helpful in assisting my son to pick out a youthful bow tie and provided us with a coupon to cover the additional cost. read more

I have to say Bob provided one of the best customer service experiences we have ever had. My son decided last minute to attend his prom. By last minute, I mean the day of. When we approached Bob at Men's Warehouse a little nervously with our dilemma, he was fantastic. Not only did he provide my son with a great tux, he did it with a smile and really seemed to get a charge out of helping my son out. My son had rented his tux there the year before and I had remembered Bob. The truth is I thought of Bob and his great attitude the minute my son told me he wanted to go last minute this year. My feeling was if anyone would/could help us out...it was Bob. Men's Warehouse is lucky to have him! read more

Customer service is appalling. It seems like they only care when making a sale, but once the sale is done, they fail to deliver quality customer assistance. The 1 star rating is for the utter incompetence of the 5 staff members we dealt with. We (a wedding party choosing groomsmen and best man attire) spent about an hour trying on various pieces of clothes which actually didn't go terribly. They didn't have some sizes of items we needed but we all knew what sizes we were looking for so it was alright. When it came to checking out, that's when the nightmare started. It took five people and over an hour to check out the entire party which was about ten people. Things got messed up on receipts, charged too much or too little and had to go back and redo it. We bought a shirt, vest, pants, and a tie each, that's it. Not rocket science, but it still took over an hour for ALL FIVE employees in the store to check us out. No one at the register actually looked like they knew what they were doing the entire time. I literally have bought a car faster than I was able to buy the items we got that day. I only half believe I'll be getting the items I ordered when the time comes due to the massive mess they made at the register. I would consider going back here but ABSOLUTELY NEVER for another party scenario. read more

I walk in to get a price for my wedding on renting suits and they say about $180 ish then I ask if they can give me a price for all 13 in my wedding party including fathers renting suit. They could not be bother and the guy sitting down told another female to help them. They look up a price quote from a previous order with cuff links and all these other accessories that we did not want for $199. Female stumbled over her words and was unsure of the exact price. My wife informed them just the suit basic with shoes, shirt , tie and belt. They were unable to assist. As of 4/22/16 we have ordered all the groomsmen and fathers suits from jc penny for a great price! We got a 3 piece suit with a tie for $155(suit $135 & tie $135). I am so happy that we ordered all the suits now that we can keep them and saved $$$. A few times we had to return items via mail or back at the store, which was very easy to do. read more

Not good. Getting measured was fine, in and out with no problems. Was told that the week of the wedding we would get a call or email to test fit and pick up. Never got the notice they were in, the bride called on Wednesday and was told they have been in for a few days. Went in Wednesday, tried it on and the pants seemed really big around the legs and when I asked, the guy tending to me said it was the style, everything else fit well. I asked about not getting notified about the suit being in and he kind of shrugged it off. The bride then told me the pants were suppose to be slim fit and out of 5 people getting suits, only one actually fit as it should. One persons pants didn't touch their shoes, another's pants were too baggy and the other persons were too tight. To top it off, they got the wrong color tux for another person. Don't rent a tux here. They'll make you think they'll be able to accommodate any adjustments needed, then when it's days before the event and you try your tux on and you look like you belong in a 90s swing band they'll tell you that's the rental fit and there's nothing that can be done. When I got my measurements and told them I wanted a fitted contemporary look they said they totally got it and if it was needed I could get it tailored. The guy literally lied, and was the same one to tell me I'm stuck with the clown pants. Super out dated. Would not recommend if you're relatively young and care about style. Terrible service, the grooms shirt did not fit at all! the bride had to run back up and get another shirt and they tried to charge her for it :( the girl waiting on us while we were trying on the tuxes took another "cute" guy and split up our group. I asked her at least 3 times to get the rest of the suits out of the back and she looked at me like I was speaking another language! When I returned the suits and asked for some compensation for the inconvenience the manager said that this was their policy. So their policy is to mis measure a person and them cause chaos before a wedding. Find another place to rent folks they were not helpful at all. read more
