Maxx in Auburn, Massachusetts last evening, Tuesday, May 21, 2025. The young man seemed amiable enough, and that's enough for me. We're not at the Bottega Veneta Boutique in Venice, we're in T.J. Maxx, so "basic" customer service skills are perfectly acceptable. Well, it would appear that young cashier man was incapable of accomplishing even the bare minimum of customer service, and he was not one of the adorable high schoolers there saving for college. This was a whole adult. While cashing out, I was looking to explain one very small detail to him, but he was engaged in deep conversation with his very pretty colleague. I completely understand cashier/player-player, but would it be okay if I explain just one small thing to you? LOL! Well, I thought he was listening, but I guess his head was truly deep in his colleague conversation because he promptly did exactly what I politely asked him not to do. Ugh!!! Then I asked that he please not put my shoes in the bag with my clothing and it would appear that this was a trigger for him as his annoyance was both visible and audible, with him telling me that he could refuse me service and suspend my sale, and to that I responded by saying "please do". It would not have taken a Rocket Scientist to see that he had only one interest at that moment and that was the pretty young lady who he continued to converse with, even while telling me that he didn't have to assist me. Are we serious right now! I unknowingly interrupted your "will you go on a date with me" ritual, and I can't be helped, with my purchase being cancelled. Please T.J. Maxx, that Auburn, Massachusetts is one of the very first, surely you can do better. This was an embarrassing display. Here we have, not one, but two employees who would much rather converse amongst themselves than to assist little old ladies (that would be me). Had there been another cashier available, I would have simply shifted over, problem solved, but he was the only cashier open at the time. I am not one to argue with someone about things that are as unimportant as this, but I have to say that I have never in all of my years been told that I would be refused service. The fact that two whole employees chose to continue a conversation amongst themselves rather than place a bookmark in that conversation to wait on a customer is bewildering at best.

After losing a little bit of weight, I decided to treat myself to some new, nicer, better quality clothes from a place like Express. I, of course, walked into Express still battling myself and my selfconciousness, convinced I "wouldn't find anything anyway." Enter Rose, probably the best damned employee Express ever had. I explained to her my situation, and without batting an eye, she lead me around the store, asking me questions about my style, what I felt comfortable wearing, etc. The most genuine and helpful retail salesperson I've ever met. She showed me the Portofino Slim Fit shirts and picked out a few different patterns and colors to try. On our way back to the dressing room, she continued to pick up other pieces she thought I'd like. And I nearly liked everything she chose. She really had an eye for what style I'm into, but also what I would feel beautiful in! Some pieces-- like a thin-strapped halter-type soft pink and flower print-- I never ever would have dreamed to try on. But with a few well-placed accessories, all of a sudden it looked totally "me." Rose kept coming back to the fitting room with new items to try on, including an amazing pair of Columnist pants. By the time I changed back into my "old" clothes, I felt like a different person. Checkout was a bit scary-- I knew I was in this for several hundred dollars-- $400 to be exact. *Enter jaw drop.* But, for that, I got 4 Portofino Slim Fit shirts (in different colors/patterns), the soft pink and flower halter, another soft pink lacey tank top, the pair of Columnist pants, a long-sleeved flowy formal black blouse, and a short-sleeved blouse. Rose told me about an offer they had, helped me get it on my phone, and took a whopping $75 off my order. Much (?) more reasonable... I think? But let me tell you, it was so worth it. I immediately changed into one of the new Portofino shirts I bought and felt so much more confident and truthfully... beautiful. Jamie complimented me on the look later saying the shirt looked "just like me." Since then, I've worn several of the pieces and have always received praise for my look. This one shopping trip has truly, honestly, and maybe pathetically, changed the way I feel about the clothes I wear. So, thank you, Rose, for being one hell of an amazing retail employee, and helping one defeated woman feel alluring and self-assured with your words of confidence and your keen eye for fashion.

They were having a good sale on tops and what wasn't on sale was eligible for my 15% teacher discount. So I spent a decent portion of my paycheck. Then I got home to find an email that says EVERYTHING in the store is 50% off - better than the sale I was able to take advantage of yesterday! I called this morning to see if I could bring just my receipt in for a price adjustment, since all of my purchases have already been de-tagged and hung in my closet. I was told I need to have the items with me - just the receipt isn't good enough. I can't think of another store where I have asked for a price adjustment due to a sale that pops up after I've made my purchases, that has insisted that I bring in the purchases. The receipt has always been good enough. In my opinion, forcing customers to pull purchases out of their drawers and closets in order to get a price adjustment is bad policy and not customer friendly at all. I'm very disappointed. By the way, I initially called main office cust. svc. To ask about the price adjustment - I was told the policy of just receipt vs. Receipt and purchases is handled at the store level. So this my not be the case at other Loft stores.

Sarah, one of the managers, told one of her associates to follow around a customer. The associate did what she was told to do and she followed the customer around in the store, like a lost puppy dog. When the customer went into the fitting room to try on two cardigans, the associate informed the associate in the fitting room to not leave the fitting room. Also, they will scan your driver's license more than three times (for only ONE item returned) through their idiotic tracking device because they don't want you returning anything, even though you have your receipt. Just a downright awful store that does NOT know how to treat their customers. Corporate, if you are reading this, I strongly urge you to send Sarah and her associates to business charm school because accusing perfectly innocent customers of no good is not only disrespectful and offensive, but it is also exceptionally poor business practice and against the law (innocent until proven guilty). I think I will take my hard-earned money to Nordstrom and Macy's because I will be treated with respect, thoughtfulness, and dignity. Nobody deserves to be disrespected in this form and I would not be the least bit surprised if you found better customer service at Walmart or McDonalds. Ann Taylor Loft, shame on you for letting your employees fall through the cracks. Buyer beware!

For the plus size community, clothes shopping can be frustrating, irritating, and down right infuriating! So to have a store accommodate us by having sizes that fit and trendy styles is a great feeling, because well we don't have many stores that do that! Now, I have been to this store a handful of times now during this pandemic. The staff has always been friendly, worn masks, help customers remember the 6ft rule, and had us sanitize! My mother had to make a return because there is no trying on in the store and something didn't fit. When we walked in the store, there was a woman standing right at the door with her arms crossed, she didn't welcome us so I assumed she was a customer! She then starred at my mothers bag which made my mother feel uncomfortable n triggered her to ask if she worked there and if she should put her return at the counter before she shopped around. The woman said "I do work here, and I'm not looking at your bag but feel free to head to the register with it". So my mother went and started the return. Of course there was some confusion because my mother wanted to shop more and the women told her she shouldn't have come to the register that she would need to bag her things and carry them with her. She decided to process the return and just shop after. I was at the t-shirt counter with another customer (I did not know) and had touched a few tshirts (as did the other customer). As my mom walked over, the women standing at the door comes over and watches my mother and as my mom picks up a shirt the women yells out "please do not touch the tshirts ma'am, please ask me to hold up the shirt you'd like to see" my mother dropped the shirt and apologized and told the woman that she wasn't aware of the rule and that she had been in the store several times and the staff had never shared that! The woman said "well I am the manager here and they better not have let anyone touch the tshirts because if you touch them they need to be quarantined for two whole days, the reason we can touch them is we were already quarantined"! Now I realize she's just doing her Kobe but this leaves us puzzled and not sure if we can touch anything in the store! Not to mention, this manager folded and put the shirt my mother touched back in the pile of tshirts after she just explained it needed to be quarantined! Overall the experience here has been great until this interaction. It made for an unpleasant visit and a quick departure! Things could have been handled a little different and less condescending! I would give Torrid 5 stars but I shorted it 1 due to the management here! I'd rather drive the 45 min to another store!

Then Torrid...uhhhh. BLISS! I first tried the ever elusive jeans. PERFECTION! The jeans were buttery soft, true to the listed measurements, and the waistline didn't come up to my breasts!! The tops are labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Nooo XXX! That alone made me feel great. The tops hang perfectly, coming down a little bit lower to cover my lower belly. The materials were all heaven sent. The style options are huge! Everything from so so soft T shirts to cashmere like dusters, gorgeous springtime colored and patterned tunics, and actually wearable cocktail dresses. They had a big clearance section too. If you want to look through, the deals are amazing. The prices st Torrid are average...but, they have a great rewards program. It's easy, no games. I had enough reward points to get a beautiful, creamy mauve tunic for free that day! I'm a HUGE Torrid fan. Please, frustrated plus sized ladies..go check it out. Torrid is truly a store for us.
