This was my first time visiting this store because I needed to pick up a new business jacket for a company function...I was greeted warmly and professionally by Tyler. I told him what I was looking for and the size I think I needed. He brought me to a rack of black and dark blue jackets. And just like Goldilocks, I tried on 3 jackets and the 3rd one was just right. We went in to get my partner suit pants and a vest, shirt and tie for our wedding. We had spoken on the phone to Maddie the day before and wanted to work with her. When we got there, we were greeted immediately and Maddie was busy, so another associate got us started. They were friendly, listened to what we wanted, took some quick measurements and we started trying things on. When Maddie was free, she stepped in and finished up with us. She was helpful, professional, answered our MANY questions. It was busy and she had to step away several times, but it was always for a short period of time and she let us know what she was doing. Overall, we had a really positive first interaction, and we were really pleased with the excellent service we received from Maddie. My best friend had all the men get their suits for her wedding here. They were incredibly overpriced, and almost all of the pieces were the wrong size. One man wears a size 33 pant and was given a size 40 with an "adjustable waist" they looked like balloon pants. Then they have him a vest a size too small and told him that even though he came the day they told him to, they would not be able to get either in the correct size by the wedding, The check in person was rude when they came to the initial fitting, (the fitting people were kind, but the sizes were so messed up that I can't recommend this place) If I could just give this place a thumbs down I would! read more

In the past on an incredibly slow day they went the extra mile and found the exchange needed. But for weddings, you'd expect that they have some sharp suits and a reputation to uphold but you'd be wrong. They are incredibly unprofessional, unorganized, and will not communicate - return calls, explain what rentals would include or discounts etc. the $400 shopping spree is NOT worth the hassle stress and continuous loss of information thy put you through. You work with whoever is available each time which you would think means prompt turnaround but j stead it means no one knows what they are doing. As for the suit selection for rentals it's incredibly limited and outdated at best. They could not accommodate out colors at all, nor the style we hoped for - which says a lot considering it's the current trend. Their pricing is ridiculous considering what you're renting and the reliability and trust are non existent. We were quoted $220 for traditional boring old suits that we weren't at all excited for and offered for those renting to buy a suit for $300 instead. They are there to sell their suits and capitalize on a namesake to fill in the profit margins. We were quoted for brand new suits on trend at 165$ with upgrades at mr formal instead. Aside from the obvious mishaps prior to even the event, the completely poor customer service, attitude and lack of remorse for the troubles they've caused is beyond fake. It's horrendous how the employees are just there to make their minimum wage and not at all to help the company maintain the reputation they've grown. The downtown Portland branch is phenomenal to begin with and this branch pails in comparison at best. If you do choose to go through MW then ask for Andrew (or Andre?) he was fantastic but unfortunately we only were able to work with him once. They were supposed to estimate how much to tailor a suit for the groom and instead fitted him entirely and once they had insisted he pay to have it done there instead of doing what was requested. It's a scam at best! They must be desperate for clientele. But $150 for a intake on pants and jacket that weren't really that much bigger than needed is insane! As for purchasing a suit, their suits are usually good quality and warranty is good. But don't bother with custom set service if that's what you're looking for or expect. There were customers waiting to purchase items but all employees were assisting one customer. Never. Again. Since Shryocks closed this past winter we weren't sure where to go in Salem when my husband needed to rent a tux for an event we are attending. With two options and poor reviews of the other, we opted for Men's Wearhouse. We went in plenty in advance of the event for measurements, etc. When they measured they pulled off a jacket that was too tight for my husband and at the time I commented that it looked a little tight across the back. They proceeded to write up the order with a "slim" jacket and said we could make adjustments when we picked it up. Fast forward to pick up day. The place was a zoo with people getting tuxes for proms and weddings. They got my husband his tux and put him in a fitting room. When he came out the jacket was obviously too tight and the shirt looked like it had been worn about 500 times and washed on a rock each time. He mentioned to the sales person that it was tight and got a response that it looked great but they could move the button over if that would make him more comfortable. Now, I do a little sewing and I'm not quite sure where they were going to move that button because there wasn't really a lot of real estate to make that adjustment. We ended up leaving with the tux but feeling very much like they were trying to make him fit the tux rather than the tux fitting him. After trying it on again when he got home, we turned around the next day and returned it prior to the event. After I explained the situation (mind you to the same two people we had been dealing with from the beginning) the response was "really, I thought it looked great when you tried it on yesterday. " Well, I guess if he was going to stand absolutely still and not eat or drink anything. Looks like it is time to go buy a tux, but it won't be from Men's Wearhouse. read more

I came here for a dress shirt and some ties for myself and my son for the wedding we were headed to the next day. It was a Friday and busy, it took a while to get some help. Once I did, however, they were great and helped me get what I needed. The prices were very high, especially compared to the last time I'd visited the franchise. Still, I did get quality clothing that was definitely better than my dress shirts from Costco. Their whole computer system was down so they had to do all their payments the old fashioned way. But they were accurate and the staff was pleasant despite the hassles. I mark down a star for the prices and one for the delay getting help. I wandered around the store quite a while without so much as a greeting. I'd go again but my budget would have to have more room. read more

A friend needed a suit. Not only a suit, but a little prepping on fashion trends, suit-wearing-etiquette, and all that jazz. We knew we'd probably fare cheaper going to Kohl's and doing it ourselves, but this person doesn't fare well in off the rack clothes thanks to a great athletic build (broad shoulders, narrow waist). We chose Men's Warehouse... because of the commercials, actually. Didn't know much else about them, but also didn't want to go all the way to Portland. We walked in, with a little trepidation. The store's asst manager greeted both of us and introduced himself, and asked us what we needed. "Uh... lots of help; we don't know what we're doing." He took us from square one, getting a quick measurement and then over to a rack. He asked a few questions, pulled out a few options and all the while told us a lot of info we formerly did not know (sort of the how/when/what and whys of more formal clothing). With two suits selected (one came with two pants for more flexibility) we then moved to shirts and ties. I'm sure he saw $$$ in his eyes when we walked in, because he knew we needed the Full Meal Deal. But we went through all of his suggestions (which again was a great educational piece of how and when to pair what -- amazing) and then pared down according to our budget. During this time he was demure and never pushy, not one bit. Next was a fitting. And here is where this store lost a star: I would have given then four stars had the tailor not had her cell phone ring -- AND ANSWERED IT -- while marking his pants. That's a pet peeve of mine. FOCUS, people. Set the phone on silent when you are with clients. Especially in this situation -- it was a challenge as the customer wears a 52 jacket but a 38 pant; this means the pants that come with it, which are like a 46, are waaaaay too big. But the results of the tucks and what not done to the jacket... wow. It made the result go from good to "Damn you look hot!" If economy is your primary concern, you might have trouble here. One suit chosen was a beautiful Calvin Klein and cost $450; the other was $350. Prices are higher if you don't buy things in twos. Add five shirts, assorted ties and a really nice pair of shoes and the ticket was $1400. But, that is in effect a total business wardrobe. Alterations are NOT included -- that was about $150 of that total due to the fact that ONE pair of pants had to be totally taken apart and reconstructed due to the nature of the cut and details being affected by taking them down so much. The clothes were quality, however, and the service was top notch and just what we needed -- we needed not only a product, but service and information and that COSTS MONEY. My now husband and his groomsmen were dressed by Men's Wearhouse for our January wedding, and overall, we were very pleased with them! They went in for fittings in October, and we were able to find exactly what we wanted and needed. The woman taking their measurements was very kind and professional, and she definitely appreciated the sense of humor that the boys brought. We were also able to use a coupon that I had received from David's Bridal to get 40% off of my husband's tuxedo. The tuxedos that they guys got were very well-fitted and arrived on time. The only reason that I am dinging them a star is because my husband's shirt and vest had some stains on them, but thankfully they weren't noticeable. Overall, I would recommend Men's Wearhouse, and we will likely use them again in the future for our formalwear needs. read more

I thought I would be smart and order a couple suits online. The smart part was MW was having a sale so I got two very good suits for not very much money. The other, not as smart part was that apparently I have no clue how to measure myself for a suit. The suits arrived and I looked like David Byrne of Talking Heads in them. But the part that saved me was I could take them into a MW store and exchange them, so I did. The exchange went quickly and easily, and before I knew it I had two new suits that were being altered. I picked up the suits about 10 days later and the fit was awesome. The alterations cost around 150 for two suits, which is really not bad...anytime you can get two name-brand wool suits under 1000 including alterations, that's a good deal. Everyone there was extremely helpful and made a potentially painful situation go extremely smoothly. read more

Went in during Labor Day weekend to get a suit for my grandfathers funeral. I'm a fit athletic guy so my suit size can't be the slim fit. Shouldn't be a big issue to find a suit regardless you would think right? Well the super skinny employee there said they didn't carry my size a 46R in any grey to black shades. Pants in a 32-34 depending on fit. That I should go shop in Portland. Wound up just going to nordstrom and spending way more than I wanted to. Didn't have time to go to Portland. He didn't even offer to call the Portland stores to see. Went to woodburn outlet location today just to see. They had lots in my size. The associate that helped me even guessed it was the skinnier brown haired employee at Keizer station location that lacked to help me before I could describe him. Recently my son got married. I came here to buy a suit for myself. I also had to rent some pants for my other son's. Everything went pretty well. Everything seems to fit. The price for my suit was much higher than I was planning. I feel like they raise the price on the suits and then say "buy one get one free". So your not really getting a very good deal. At least not like you would think. Next time, I plan on looking at other places and comparing prices. Also, I had to bring all the rentals back after the wedding. They only give you one day or they charge you more. The wedding preparation is crazy and taking care of everything is very stressful. One day is not enough. I felt unneeded pressure to get them back. Especially on a Sunday. This is my biggest complaint. That policy needs to change or I won't rent again. It's just not enough time. It ruined the rest of my weekend after the wedding. read more

The first time I went in, I didn't know what I wanted. Just a blue suit for my wedding. Their tux specialist was the first to greet me within seconds and immediately suggested the custom suit. It's on my bucket list to own a tailored custom suit, so I got a little excited inside but was worried about price. But you guys made it happen. And for so much more affordable than I ever expected. AND free tailoring for life! (As long as I don't gain like 25-30lbs). Ryan, the assistant manager, took over while I was trying on pants. He got me measured and took down all of my custom choices. I told him I wasn't ready to purchase yet but he held onto my order form just in case. When I came back a week later, Abigail, the store manager, was the one to help me out. She's the most cheerful person I think I've ever met. She found my form immediately and we went over it all. After printing up the final form, I realized I had a couple more questions and changes I wanted to make. After printing out ANOTHER form, I changed another customization. Usually I'm not THIS picky of a person, but I've also never owned a custom suit. So go big or go home. Every time I changed my mind I'd apologize because i've worked in retail, it's so annoying when people do that. But she was just as cheerful as when we started. After all that back and forth, she took off a small $15 charge because she mistook a price. But based on the service, I would've happily paid it. Now I haven't actually received the suit yet. But I'll update my post when it arrives! But until then, AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!! Definitely planning on coming back for future purchases. read more

I will never rent suits again from Men's Wearhouse. My daughter was married and we rented 8 suits. The pants on 5 of them were too long and 2 shirts didn't fit. One shirt had spots down the arm. I do understand no one is perfect and maybe 1 or 2 having issues but that many? And having spots on something? Are they not checked before they bag them up? Went there to get a tux for a wedding. Someone who seemed to be in charge took us and she was very rude and should not have been helping customers. It was especially great when she measured my husband, then helped everyone else for ten minutes as we stood there tapping our toes. I said "the sleeves are too big" and she was very short and said "they're only measured in the neck." We also never got a chance to see the tux or even an example of the style. My husband's not confident about the fit and we didn't get to see the actual pants (she just said oh we'll change the cut) so we'll probably have to stop by a different store sometime before the wedding. I see other people mentioning this person in the comments and I think I'm talking about the same person. She appears to be a manager or supervisor and really should not be allowed to help or even talk to people because she can not manage it politely. read more

Ryan- you shouldn't be in any sort of management position considering you are obviously incapable of helping customers resolve an issue they have with the store you're supposed to be assisting. With that said, the 1 star represents the alright service I DID receive from the incompetent employees you train. If a customer is telling you they didn't receive the information they were supposed to be relayed at the time of service, and you still charge them a late fee due to the mistake YOUR employees made, THEN use a signed piece of paper to fall back on, you're NOT a good manager! How about listen to what your customers are telling you and actually HELP then resolve the issue, which is to reverse the late fee and RE TRAIN your team! I had to call corporate after this so-called-assistant-manager failed to listen to my concerns just for them to reverse the late fee. And the end result is, they reversed the late fee! Good job with making your store look bad! read more

I was in this store recently to get fitted for my wedding coming up. My father and brother and nephew of 2 also came along to get there fitting done for tux's. We received amazing service and help in picking out what I needed. I highly suggest if possible to request the help of Kristina miles, she is the manger and was great help. Very up beat and especially kind with my little nephew who at times was a bit difficult, just like any young 2 yr old. She helped me see exactly what I needed and how to stand out from my groom's men tux's with out being that far out there. If I could I would give this place 10 stars. I've been here a few times and I've never felt as though I was valued as a customer. Today my husband and I went in to pick up his tux for a wedding he is in this weekend. We weren't acknowledged for a while after walking in although two different sales associates saw us. The man who brought my husband his tux to try on disappeared for the rest of the time we were there. We didn't speak to anyone again until their tailor noticed that we were standing and waiting. She was super sweet, but everyone else there made us feel like we didn't matter. If you are going in for a tux fitting I would go to Woodburn.
