I've purchased seven or eight suits from Men's Wearhouse over the years. It used to be four or five star. When I went a couple years ago, it was clear the service was not what it once was, but I bought two suits anyways. I went in recently to look at buying a couple more. I found that the special sale items that get emailed out are now only to get you in the door. When I asked about it I was told that it's just how corporate operates. I don't mind paying a fair price for a nice suit. But I'm not going to patronize a business that pulls bait and switch moves. I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

Doesn't feel very personalized especially for the cost of renting/apparel in store. Had a colleague go recently and had the same type of experience. Call me crazy, but when I walk into a men's warehouse or any other formal attire store I expect everything else with my experience to follow suit. No pun intended. First off, the store was like a maze. They had racks with coats blocking what seems like it should be one of the walk ways. Things were not well spaced and given the amount of people inside it made it impossible to keep proper distance at times. I'm also pretty sure only having 1 clear path/walk way from the back is likely a fire hazard. We were here for 10+ minutes. No one greeted us, no one asked us if we needed help, no employees acknowledged us the entire time we were there. So we left because no assistance was offered. My husband needed a pair of dress shoes and a belt, but their shoe selection was tiny and they weren't great quality. For the $200 range like they wanted for the cheap feeling dress boots my husband would wear, I can get him some nice Italian leather ones from Johnston & Murphy over in Livermore. We couldn't even find the belts. The store cleanliness also wasn't up to par. The fact that they would have boxes of garbage out on the main floor like this surprised me. They had "6 ft apart" stickers on the ground peeling up and filthy, and nothing visually made me feel like I was shopping at a formal store. I walked into this location super insecure about my weight and the prospect of finding clothes that actually fit my widening body. I feel blessed to have run into Genesis (sorry if I misspelled her name). She was awesome and bent over backwards to help me find the right sizes, colors, and most importantly, the right looks that comfortably fit into my price range. Genesis did more than just help me find the right clothes, however, as my experience with her left me more confident to step back out into the world. The customer service is so bad here. Everyone I talked to in this store seemed bothered I was there to rent a suit. The suit was okay. It felt too big on the end but not bad at all. The gentle man who helped me picked the rental was annoyed from some of my questions. It was my first suit so I wasn't sure what was good for me and was looking for recommendations. Gave up on that real quick. Everyone els in the store seemed like they were avoiding customers. Only person who was nice was a young lady who helped me try on the suit fit check it before it took it home. Very nice and professional. I hate do do this...the only reason why I didn't give them one star is because the have good quality suits. We bought a suite and had it tailored and for the price...you would think an apparel place like this would have customer service that went above and beyond. When we arrived, no one seemed interested in helping us and when we finally were asked, they seemed irritated. The employees were complaining out loud so everyone could hear them and they all hovered in the back of the store as to say, "We are waiting to clock out and go home." I went in here with my eldest son to get him a suit for graduation. We were greeted immediately and was asked if there was anything we needed help with. The young gentleman that helped us was chill and helpful. He got my son a well fitted suit that looked really good on him. Our experience was great and I paid a little over $700 for the suit. The only reason why I gave this place 3 stars was because while waiting for the suit to get pressed and ironed out, I noticed a sign that says $25 gift card for every $75+ spent. I never received such. I thought to myself perhaps it is in an email that will be sent later. I asked another associate what that sign meant and he says for every $75 you get a $25 gc. So I asked if it is sent via email and he says no. You get these cards here. I then proceeded to ask where mines were then since I just dropped a little over $700 for my sons suit. He looked at his coworker and a lot went back and forth. Long story short, the associate that had originally helped us with the suit had no idea about the $25 gc and the other guy basically gave me the gc with his signature on it saying to bring it back in and use it because it is 9pm and they are closed now and he isn't going through the hassle of refund/ringing things up again. Perhaps the managers could update the staff on new and upcoming promos and make sure they know how to ring up and what to do when such cases occur. It was unprofessional from my stand point as a customer when the person helping you had no idea there was a promo and what that was about. I went in today for a fitting for my brother to attend the Night To Shine event. The gentleman that met me at the door was on the rude side. He explained the price range of tux and suits, while looking me up and down, as if I couldn't afford them. I have shopped there many times for events and the first time, I actually felt comfortable. The suit he fitted my brother for were larger than I suggested he wore, which the seamstress (whom was very nice), gave the gentleman a scolding tone of, "why are these clothes so big? Why not a smaller size? I'll wait while you grab a different size." I proceeded to purchase the suit, but this was a discouraging experience, and I may consider business elsewhere after this. read more

Had the most bizarre experience here. Came in to pick out a suits for my groomsmen. Took a while to get greeted, had to ask for help to start. Finally got some help, and the associate had no idea what was going on. I tried to ask questions and make the process easier and he was simply ignoring me. The moment I made it clear that I was not buying a suit with him his whole demeanor changed. I am a returning customer and I am trying to buy multiple suits, just not today. I'm not sure if this place is commission based or what. The manager told me that people have bad days and that I should be forgiving. LOL. If you don't like your job then find a new one. When you walk in there is a huge selection of pants and shirts to choose from. My husband ordered 3 different suits from here, and had a good experience. He had to have them tailored, so they measured him and he got to pick up the suits 3-4 days later. They are plenty of dressing rooms for everyone to try on their suits. They have 2 different area with large mirrors so you can see all sides as you try your things on. The prices were reasonable, and the store was clean. I went into the store recently to get my suit fixed for some tailoring issues and I have to say I didn't expect to get to experience a got,,, The store manager (Alan Hootman ) Helped me, he was not only professional but knowledgeable on his product, he has helped me before now but he was just a salesman at that time. Vintage Fair - it had been years since we have been to a Men's Wearhouse actually in 2000 my husband is going to be officiating a wedding so we had to get a new suit. Normally I don't do yelp, unless am dissatisfied, but in this case it was because we received excellent customer service by ERIC VIERA. He was helpful patient and very knowledgeable with picking out a suit. We actually had a discount from the Riverbank store and he was gracious enough to honor that as well even though we were at a different location. In the middle of our trying on suits etc.. He Had another customer that came in the same time we were there, not once did he try and rush us because he had another customer waiting for him. My son needed nice clothes for work so I took him to Macy's first - no help big piles of clothes with good prices. I didn't know his size and it was a maze. We left after a few minutes and headed to the new location of the Men's Wearhouse. We had help immediately from Alberto. He fitted my son and helped him choose two suits. It was expensive, but worth it. We were in and out in an hour and a half. We would have spent 2/3's the money at Macy's and gotten clothes that didn't fit right and spent twice as much time - where is the savings in that? I would have given zero stars if that was an option. My son was looking for suits for himself and his groomsmen. He made an appointment online. No one asked him if he needed help, he went to the register and the person was rude. I feel like you are judged by how you are dressed. Someone ended up helping us, he didn't do a good job getting my son fitted for a suit. He literally said everything looked good even if it didn't, even one of the ladies who worked there said it was too small. Also when the salesman was getting the groomsmen names my son didn't know the exact spelling of a last name, the salesman knew how to spell the last name and said "we get a lot of them in here". As a person of color I find this offensive. The service was crappy, the sales person was just trying to make a sales and he was racist. I would never recommend this place. Definitely do not recommend this mens warehouse. We went in to look at tuxes for our wedding today. It was a disaster. We made an appointment and the man who helped us (Pat) did not seem like he wanted to help us at all. Or if he even cared if we found what we were looking for. He was not very personable. He showed us a board of literally a handful of tuxes that we could choose from, which by the way said "Prom" at the top of it....? We bought our twin sons new suits a year ago for my brother in laws wedding...we took them back to pay for routine tailoring but they refused to touch the suits until we had them dry cleaned...I totally get that no one wants to work on dirty clothes but these are suits that are worn over other clothes!! I am a proponent of saving time and the Men's Wearhouse will definitely save you time! Now if your into saving money, then this may not be the place for you but in most cases time is more valuable. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon to pick out a suit for my son's HS Graduation and we were in and out within 40 minutes or so and my son is very picky when it comes to clothes. We worked with Eric Viera who was very helpful and knowledgeable and made the shopping experience tolerable. We walked out with two suits, shirts, ties, pocket squares and some suspenders for under $800. Of course they had a Buy One Get One Free Promo. Gotta Love this place. 5 Stars if they offered a 50% discount off the total!
