I accepted the position excited to learn, grow, and build a career with the company. Instead, I found myself in an environment where I felt criticized far more often than I was coached. The turning point came when I scheduled a meeting with the store manager, Kelly, because I genuinely wanted feedback on how I could become more successful in my role. I expected a conversation about performance, training, and development. Instead, I was repeatedly told that several situations reflected "character flaws." As someone who asked for feedback, that was both surprising and discouraging. One mistake involved accidentally miscounting a register by $10 while exchanging bills. At the time, I was told it was a common mistake that even experienced employees make. Later, that same incident was used as evidence of a "character flaw." I also took accountability for other mistakes throughout training because I wanted to learn, but I often felt my honesty was met with criticism instead of coaching. The training itself was inconsistent. I often felt I was expected to know procedures that had never been fully explained. Assistant Manager Deb spent much more time pointing out mistakes than teaching me how to avoid them. Ironically, the person I learned the most from was another Keyholder, Jazmyne, who had only been hired about a week before I was. She was patient, helpful, and willing to answer questions whenever I asked. I was also told that my appearance was "more Forever 21 than Brooks Brothers." If there were concerns about dress code or brand standards, I believe those expectations could have been communicated professionally without making personal comparisons. After serving several years in the United States Army, I understand accountability, discipline, and receiving constructive criticism. I have never expected special treatment. However, there is a difference between coaching an employee to improve and making comments about their character. After being informed that I would be demoted from Keyholder to Sales Associate, I reflected on my experience and chose to resign. While resigning was my decision, I did not feel I could continue in an environment where I no longer felt respected, supported, or fairly evaluated. I hope Brooks Brothers reviews the training and leadership practices at this location. Employees deserve clear expectations, consistent coaching, and respectful communication--especially when they are genuinely trying to succeed. For days after that meeting, I carried the weight of what was said to me. I felt ashamed, disappointed in myself, and even questioned whether the comments about my character were true. Those words had a real impact on me. After taking time to reflect, I realized that no employee should leave a performance discussion feeling personally diminished for seeking guidance. That realization is why I chose to speak up. I am not sharing my experience because I am unwilling to accept feedback or accountability. I am speaking up because I believe there is a difference between coaching an employee and making personal judgments about their character. I refuse to walk away believing that asking for help, making mistakes while learning, or seeking to improve makes me fundamentally flawed. I will not go through my career with my head down because of one manager's opinion. Not for Brooks Brothers, and not for anyone. I hope sharing my experience encourages the company to reflect on how feedback is delivered so that future employees are developed with respect, professionalism, and dignity.

Fun fact, May is busy. Weddings, prom's, Bar Mitzvahs... it is all happening. Walking in a week before prom, I was concerned we were SOL but as long as we were ok with the traditional black tux, Sam's could make it happen. This was actually our first choice. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was busy. After wandering around, it appeared a line was forming so we lined up. However, after a few moments, a younger women approached asking how she could help. She measured, wrote up the order and and cashed us out in less than 10 minutes. She explained what the next step would be and we were on our way. I have tagged his mom and grandma in for pick up but based on past experiences with my boys and the efficient from last Saturday I have every confidence everything will be fine. TBH I have no idea how they compare to other tuxedo places, pricewise, but I think they have a great selection and the customer service is clearly a priority. Now that I am done with dressing young men for prom I will have to find some black tie events for my husband to take me to. :-) They have a very nice selection of mens clothing and they might do alternations, although I am not sure if that is just for purchase from them or if they take outside work as well. A+ customer service! Highly recommend.

I wasn't too excited about going into the mall for just one stop at first, but it ended up being pretty easy. As long as you go in through the right entrance, you don't have to walk the whole mall, although we love the huge size and selection at Great Lakes! We used the map right by the door and found GameStop quickly. The mall felt welcoming and had a lot going on, so it's definitely a place you could spend more time if you wanted to. Even though we didn't need help from mall staff, we were greeted by a few people as we walked through, which was nice. It turned out to be a smooth and easy visit overall.

My favorite stores to shop here were: Just Cozy, TJ Maxx, Burlington, and The Nike Store. All of these stores had items that I needed and all of them had a large variety to choose from. Many of these stores also had great sales and specials. They had a Winter Wonderland setup and Santa Claus was there for photos. I also appreciated that they had Christmas Carolers from a local church group singing live here. The food court was not good. We had a family member get sick from the Japanese food place, so please be careful. The variety in the food court is also a range of different options, which was good. This indoor mall is now my fave here.

I did not get a chance to look at women's, but my sister found a few things. We did look in the baby section as well and everything was extremely cheap. My sister said she bought sweat pants from here last time and they were really good quality. She washed them multiple times and the sweat pants were still soft. The only issue I had was with the bra section. I saw a sign that said $4 but the bra I found said $7. Near the register I asked a worker and they said the manager should be able to help. I talked to the manager and she was kinda rude. She just said it was probably $7 because it was a bigger size. She neglected to listen to me when I told her the sign said $4 though. She just dismissed me. When I went to the self checkout it rang up as $4!! Iaughed because of that. In order to leave the checkout you have to scan your receipt as well.
