We have taken our pet here for check-ups from time to time when the wait isn't weeks long. When they're unavailable, we usually can get an appointment up the street at Lakeshore Animal Hospital. This week there must have been a miscommunication when we called to schedule an appointment. We told them we would call back if we couldn't get in sooner somewhere else. Instead, they scheduled our pet anyway (for 10 AM, a time we never would have chosen anyway because we're not available) and called to confirm our appointment later that week. When I told them we weren't scheduled and got our pet in sooner elsewhere, I got the most unprofessional rude attitude and was hung up on. If they treat people like trash, I won't be taking the chance to see how they treat my pet. Good luck to those that do! read more

From the office staff, the vet techs and the doctors my Maddie (mini dachshund) receives excellent care. I first took her here when she was 8 weeks old. She just turned 9 years old. *I wrote this as a Google review 5 years ago, but thought it was important to share* I just moved back to Mentor and was in search of a new veterinarian for our 3 boys (dogs). I'm that dog owner who treats her dogs like children! They are THAT important to me. I did a lot of research and actually received a recommendation from a very good friend to take our boys here. We needed shots/exams for 2 of the boys. FROM THE MOMENT we walked in, there was nothing but negative energy and no personalization..not to mention after the doctor did the shots for our Shepherd (she took him in another room) SHE NEVER CAME BACK! The vet tech brought our dog back into the room and we were told we were good to go. Now mind you, we are new patients...No one ever said how the exam was..the doctor never even spent any time getting to know the dogs for a minute or even asking US any questions before she started giving her exam. When the vet tech brought our one dog back into the room we were in, he ended up snapping at her (she tried to wipe his behind, because he excreted his anal glands in the other room) She had this nasty look of disgust on her face and was quite simply acting like a b****! When we left the room and I went to go pay for our visit, I told the lady at the front counter that I didn't know the doctor was not coming back into the room and I wanted to know how the exams went and so forth. They brought the doctor up front and I was able to talk to her and then right before we were getting ready to leave, this lady comes in with her dog...the dog owner comes up to my dog and and sticks her hand out...as to pet him. Well, my 113 pound Shepherd is protective (as Shepherds are) and he snapped at her. You should have seen the look on everyone's face. We took our dogs out to the car and I came back in to finish paying, I apologized to the lady at the front desk, and by that time they had the lady that came in with her dog in another room, but then I said, "you don't stick your hand in a dogs face that you don't know." And then I'm thinking to myself that ANY dog owner knows THAT. The look and attitude on the face of the lady at the front counter was as if WE were the bad guys. There was not ONE good thing about our visit and needless to say my boys and I WILL NEVER be back. read more

As far as I'm concerned "No Stars"is right for this review. Brought my dog in for an emergency situation. The only thing the veterinarian was worried about was how I was going to pay. I feel because of the lack of service and compassion I should be refunded the money I paid. I don't care about the money. I'm posting this for people that love their pets and want the best care they can get for them. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Mentor Animal Hospital!! The staff is always so welcoming, understanding and super helpful. The doctors truly care about taking care of the animals that are so precious to us all. The doctors speak to you with respect and kindness and they are amazing at what they do. We moved away from the area years ago but continue to take our cats here because of the OUTSTANDING care and service. If you are looking for a wonderful veterinarian, look no further. read more

What can I say but WOW ! Their staff- caring, knowledgeable , helpful and kind. The vets are all WONDERFUL! We have a variety of pets in our home and this group of vets can handle them all. They are very reasonably priced. and have ALWAYS helped us in our moments of need. I don't know if it is possible to give this vet clinic no stars, but that is what I want to do. We rescued and abused dog and the shelter has a free visit to this vet or a few others. We chose this one because it is close to our home. Normally my family sees Dr. Ting at Lakeshore Animal Hospital and she is fantastic. I will never take a chance again; this was the worst experience ever. Our dog had been beaten and is extremely distrustful of humans. Once in the exam room we warned the vet tech that she was fearful and does not like being grabbed. The assistant said that it was no big deal and whipped around and basically lunged at my fearful dog. My dog went to "bite", and when I say bite I mean she turned her head and showed her teeth. The assistant said we had a vicious dog and went to get muzzle. I picked up my dog no problem, as she had started to trust us. I was appalled I had warned everyone in the room and was disregarded. This caused more stress on an already terrified dog. The vet who was in our room was a female, I do not remember her name but she could answer no questions. When asked if she was spayed, the vet answered, I'm not sure you'll have to get the surgery done to find out. So I have to pay nearly a hundred dollars for a maybe? I was furious at this point. She could not tell me anything about her breed, or age! Google has been more helpful. A stool sample was included, which we were told she had two types of worms. The types you could not see with a human eye. After extensive research I have learned that whipworms are hard to see in one stool sample as they are only visible when breeding. The clueless vet proceeded to read off the symptoms and signs from a poster in the room!! I could have done the same thing. After this horrible incident I was convienced that she did not have worms and that was their way to make money off the "free" visit. We paid for a regular visit to Dr. Ting (mentioned before), three days later. Ironically, my dog showed no signs of worms. I was able to find out if she had been spayed as well as an approximate age. Also she was not vicious, as this vet let us pick her up and hold on to her during the exam. I am sicken by the vet and I will continue to tell every single person I run into to never take their animals here. This is a horrible clinic. read more
