We started here about five years ago when we moved into the area. We had a senior cat that was feisty but she was well cared for by the doctor and staff. We had the tough decision to make last week to have her euthanized. Dr. Schroeder was honest with us and agreed with our decision. The staff were incredibly compassionate and caring. I am very disappointed with this clinic. I requested an appointment for a checkup for my dogs. They asked for paperwork for the new one. I got it out to bring to an appointmen. I called and asked for an appointment and was told I need to send the paperwork and they'd call me back to schedule. Weeks have passed. No call, no appointment through the app. We aren't new patients. We've gone here for years. So disappointing. read more

Our old vet retired so after Covid we looked into this office which was right around the corner from us. First thing that was different, was that you had to stay in your car and call the office to get permission to come in. Strange. I have noticed that since I've been going there, there have been a lot of staff changes. There's been at least three different vet assistants that come in first and evaluate. I have liked all of them. They've been very kind very thorough and just friendly. I'm really not sure I could say the same about doctor Schroeder. I don't feel any of that from him. In fact I've always felt like he rushed through the visit and never asked if I had questions. he talked so fast and was literally rushing out the door. Many times he would be talking to me with half his body out the door. So this last time I took my dog in because they insisted I get a senior blood panel for my dog, which was fine and also she had two shots she needed. When the assistant came out to get her, I was concerned about a lump that was on the back of her tail and asked if the doctor could just take a look at it. The nurse came back after drawing blood and said he didn't have time that I would have to make an appointment. Of course I would. My biggest surprise was the bill. I understand that it's expensive, but I also feel that veterinarians have to realize that there are a lot of dogs in shelters right now because people can't afford to take care of their animals because there are so many veterinarians gouging people for their services. I am constantly getting ads from their website about buying this and buying that and this is what you need for your animal. My bill was almost $700. I have had dogs my whole life and I've never had a bill like this for a blood panel and two shots. My daughter just took her senior dog in for a blood panel at her vet and one shot and it was $175. I am no longer interested in going to this clinic for my dog and have since changed to my daughter's vet service. And I thank God because the lump I was concerned about was found to have a few cancer cells in it. I'm so grateful that I did change vets because this vet was so thorough and took the time with me to hear my concerns. read more

First I brought my dog in and unknowingly was over charged and was told my healthy dog should still do an overnight with them. After a thousand dollars in tests and shots and later declared a clean bill of health, you'd think that would be enough. I don't even want to think about what an unnecessary overnight stay would cost. With a dog with known separation anxiety as well. An unnecessary stay would just upset him to no end likely resulting in more costs. After being bullied about being late on my cats boosters for weeks I finally made an appointment to shut them up. Even though it was now completely and utterly unaffordable at the moment. Rumors flew around like wildfire saying I've NEVER vaccinated my cats. I guess I neutered them and treated them on my own the whole time? ‍ I'm flattered but no, only professionals get to see my fur babies. Which is why I never went to crossroads again. I stupidly begged via email to stop the gossip that was reaching the treatment room. The venom I endured and the mishandling of my innocent cat because of a dislike in ME was shattering. Crying I called saying I'm trying to get everything up to date but the gossip is now effecting both me and my cat, their patient. I couldn't get a word in edgewise. They didn't have the information in front of them so by their logic- I must be mistreating my animals so we both deserved mistreatment by them. Say whatever you need about me to entertain yourselves but why is that effecting treatment of me and my innocent pet? Just vile. My second attempt of begging for common decency failed so I gave a bad review. Two stars since, though overcharged, they did have my dog taken care of initially. The next morning I was called out and threatened so that review has gone down to one. I've never seen gossip get in the way of treatment. It's a new low. read more

I was watching my family's senior dogs. They live out of town. One of the dogs started to go down hill fast. I called Crossroads and got an appointment. Sadly Nero had to be put down. Dr. Schroder and staff were wonderful. The doctor had an emergency surgery that day, but still was so kind and caring when they were extra busy. The unreasonable woman who answered the phone has FIRED me and my 3 pets for being "argumentative" because I asked to speak to her superior. Yep. Crossroads Vet fired me. Imagine firing a customer because they asked what seemed a logical question. (Was this phone person so afraid to be wrong or was my inquiry just too bothersome?) Here's the context. My cat vomited easily identifiable roundworms which I collected to take to the vet. I was told that the live evidence in the bag I was bringing in wasn't good enough. Before the cat could be wormed I needed to bring in a stool sample as well, which everybody knows is nearly impossible with 3 cats and certainly was not in line with my previous experience there. (Not to mention that the wormer the vet uses not only kills roundworms but a number of others in addition, it was overkill by all logic to insist on a stool sample with the evidence so obvious and in hand. And from a billing point of view this unecessary lab work would double my bill. 50 years of my previous vet experience proves that worming is routine as a prophylactic measure even without a stool sample. All their "stool sample" posturing is not borne out by my Crossroads records. Their records for cat #1 show a first time visit WITHOUT stool sample and wormer was given on request anyway. Another visit with cat #2 WITH a stool sample resulted in worming prior to the fecal sample being returned from the lab. Previous experience suggests that the rude phone person was simply on a power trip. I was told that I give Crossroads a hard time. If that means that I have asked an underinformed staff uncomfortable questions, then I'm guilty as charged. A previous issue with the billing department was regarding a $45 charge for a service NOT performed but billed, and this was indeed something I escalated -with great difficulty battling through a staff who had not been privy to the circumstances. When finally able to ask the tech who supposedly shaved my unshaved cat, I was told she couldn't remember. Only when I stood my ground and threatened to leave the business was my account credited. A very unpleasant experience on all counts. Speaking of billing, there are charges on Crossroads bills I've not seen at other veterinary hospital: biohazard disposal at $5 and a $15 "technician fee" for shots even if you don't see the actual vet, who is generally pretty scarce. Even when he's in the consult room he doesn't say much and seems distant and mechanical...not exactly Mr. Personality. End result is that even if the aforementioned things hadn't taken place, what little I saw of Dr. Schroeder left me wondering why his hands shake so badly. Whatever the reason, I wish him a full recovery. Edit: After reading Crossroad's response -which was not written by Dr. Schroeder but by the same inept staff who refused my business yet keeps sending me reminders- I'm delighted to report that I have returned to Lake Animal Hospital where the employees actually give a damn about pets and respect their owners. After 50 years doing business there, I highly recommend Lake Animal Hospital and their caring staff. Avoid the spotty, snotty service at Crossroads. read more

Its no surprise that I've dedicated my life to saving animals. With that being said, I've been to multiple vets. The staff was incredible! We came in with 7 puppies because of a skin issue. The babies were seen thw second we got there. The appointment did run late. But, it was worth it. The Vet is awesome and just wants to help the animals. Everyone is now on the mend. Staff seem young and immature. Most of staff could use a polishing in appearance. I also don't think laying under the front desk with another technicians puppy, is professionally acceptable. The only vet seems rushed and short when coming into appointments. I was very disappointed in first meet with him. Wait time for scheduled appointment is way longer than it should be along with your wait time in the exam room. Technicians could use some refresher courses in how to interact with patients owners. I don't believe talking about your dogs (keep in mind the whole 15 minutes you're charging me to have a technician) is okay. I will not be returning. I'll be transferring my pet. read more

They should probably work on their customer service. When I got my Doberman Pinscher puppy I called around all of Northeast Ohio to find a vet that would do her ear-crop aftercare and regular veterinary care. The woman on the phone was very opinionated about it and rude to me. I hardly got any words out on if she knew another vet that might work for us and she hung up. I was not impressed. read more

The absolute best and most caring staff!! We switched from a different vet when an emergent situation happened and our vet of 10 yrs told us they had no appointments for 2 weeks. We switched immediately when we called and they told us to come right in. Our girl was extremely afraid to go to the vet prior to our switch. Now she waltz's in like she owns the place. Everyone at Crossroads is very kind and the vet and vet techs are very thorough and caring. I have a soft coated wheaten terrier who is my baby. She has had a few health scares and they have done a fantastic job with her. I get a great sense of peace taking her there because I can tell that they love animals and truly care about her well being. I have been taking our pets to this veterinary clinic for a while now. They seemed to be decent until this last time in consideration to our dog. She was 14.5 and had a collapsed trachea by 60%. She started having other issues as well. Dr. Scroeder felt she could possibly have pancreatitis and maybe even kidney failure. Our dog wasn't drinking hardly anything, she could barely walk, she wasn't eating for almost a week. He gave us false hope and said that if he kept her for two nights hooked up to machines maybe she could pull through. I feel he took advantage of us when he knew our dogs chances were not good so he could make damn near 1,000. I feel he knew our dog was on the way out, but he saw a sucker and used us. For that, I don't recommend him or his lousy staff. The process of euthanasia is not easy. During that process he couldn't even get the line in our dogs veins. He poked her like 6 times. It was painful and brutal. He didn't go through all of that schooling and become a vet to not know when a beloved pet is at the end of it's life. He used us for financial gain. I DON'T RECOMMEND HIM. HE IS DISHONEST AND HE IS A THIEF. I WILL NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PET TO HIM SO HELP ME GOD. I DISLIKE HIM AND HIS STAFF. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS LOUSY DOCTOR AND HIS SHOTTY STAFF. MONEY IS WHAT THEY CARE ABOUT. I accept pets getting old, but don't use the pet owners when you know the pet is dying. I wish I could sue you. But my case won't hold up in court. If you are looking for a veterinarian that is thorough and compassionate, this is the place to take your pet. Despite the negative outcome for my dog this vet did everything in his power before he came to the conclusion of putting her to sleep. We have recently started using Crossroads Veterinary Hospital for our dog, Eddie. The office is clean, the staff is very friendly and efficient, and Dr. Schroeder gave our pet excellent care. He was very patient and gentle and took some time to let Eddie get to know him before the examination, as well as giving a thorough explanation and clear instructions for our dog's care. After we lost our cat, Crossroads sent a condolence card with a handwritten note and the signatures of the doctor and staff. We were extremely touched by this kind gesture. I have been taking my pets to Doc since for at least 5 years at this point and he has been the most wonderful vet I've ever had. Last year we brought in our family dog when she noticed she wasn't acting herself. Despite the fact that she is not a fan of people trying to look in her mouth he still managed to notice a spot that looked off on her tongue. As this was during the pandemic we had to wait out in our car and communicate via phone. Doc called us to say he might've seen something but she wasn't letting him get a better look. He offered the option of sedating her during their lunch period so he could get a better look. He called us while she was under sedation asking if we wanted him to biopsy the suspicious patch on her tongue and send it out to see if it would be a problem. He kept us updated every step of the way. He was very caring and empathetic to us when the biopsy results came back and we found out that it was cancer. He was incredibly patient with us as he reviews options and prognosis possibilities with us. We were facing pretty grim odd, but if surgery was successful we would have more time with our girl. Was it cheap? Not by a long shot but if there was any chance of giving us more time with her it was worth it. The whole team kept us in the loop from the time we dropped her off that morning until we picked her up later that day. Doc called us himself after the surgery to let us know that she made it through surgery and was in recovery. We picked her up that day and one of technicians walked us through everything we needed to know and told us to call if we need anything or had any questions whatsoever. To our surprise we received a call from the Crossroads team the next day to see how our girl was doing following her surgery. They removed almost 70% of her tongue. That was last October. She is still here with us today because of Doc and his team. I will never be able to thank them enough for what they did for us. read more
